Name: Jaegur
Age: 32
Race: Unthulao
Sex: Male
Physical description:
Jaegur is at first glance not an imposing sight, standing at six foot two inches, short for his race. Though his body is lean, it is roped with tightly corded muscles, built from necessity and hard work since his early days. His skin is bronze in color, marred only with various tattoos around his eyes and upon the back of each hand, denoting his society and family. The markings on his face start at each temple and move inward until a single line becomes many, bracketing his eyes in black sigils that announce to any of his people that he is of the Heart Guard. The intricate circles decorating the back of each hand let those of the Heart Guard know that he is of Presence. His hair is black, hanging to his shoulders in a multitude of tight braids, each tipped with a prayer bead infused with Potency. His eyes, when briefly seen, are bright green. The reason they are briefly seen is that a member of the Heart Guard must be ready to kill in an instant, as has been the case since he was barely a toddler. For this reason the majority of the time they will only be seen wearing a Hadoni*, or mask. This mask is created on the fly from their own A’redi, his personal one being black in color with dark red markings where his right eye would be, a single gash vertically along the center of his face.
Clothing:
As a member of the Heart Guard he wears the general wardrobe that marks them from the rest of the Monks of Saeleon. This consists first of a black body suit molded to the individual like a second skin, infused with their own A’redi* so that part of their will is sewn into the making, allowing the suit to flow on or off at their choosing. The material it is made of, aside from their A’redi, is called sementiu*. Over the lower portion of the body suit is a half-robe, grey in color and tied with a grey and red sash with the same markings that cover the back of his hands. Normally over his torso would be another half-robe, the upper portion, but normally Aiden will forgo this in favor of his body suit, which can flow to the tips of his fingers, or cease at his shoulders. Around his neck are a set of beads, each infused with Ruin. For his feet he wears soft grey boots, the same shade as his lower half-robe, and crafted from the same material as the rest of his wardrobe.
Equipment:
Secti- These beads are primarily used to ensure his hair does not come loose from the tight braids all Monks wear. Its secondary function is to store small amounts of Potency, one of the four Heart focuses. If pulled from his hair and held in a hand for instance, the power of that hand will increase to double its normal power for a short burst, until the bead is used up. If he swallows a single bead then burns that bead within his body, each limb and action will gain a miniscule amount of extra power for a brief period of time. He has forty Secti.
Anki- These he wears around his neck, and act in the same way as his Secti, only being powered by Ruin. These he would not hold in his hand or swallow, for they are simply a tool for destruction. They act as small bombs, perhaps half the scale of a hand grenade. The Anki is made up of twenty such beads.
(In a pouch-type case along his waist line on his back, the actual pouch molded from his bodysuit.)
Spheres: Twin spheres roughly the size of a hen’s egg, black in color and crafted from Edentium. These act in the same manner as his Psi-Blades; each has a chamber within its core and can store up a small amount of force and then release it once full, though this cannot be controlled by the user.
Endospheres: Similar to his normal spheres, these two thought are riddled with jagged spikes.
Psi-Blades: These lay in an X along his back, no sheaths, only attached to his body by way of his bodysuit reaching out to grab and wrap portions of the blade in its material. The swords are three feet in length, black with grey hilts, and cylindrical.
Design: Upon first glance the blades would seem to be only metallic tubes attached to hilts, as they are open-ended and hollow save for a single rod rising halfway up the sword’s length. The hilt is roughly seven inches, large enough for a sure one-handed grip.
Purpose: Psi-Blades, used only by the Heart Guard, act in much the same way as their own bodies. Within the hilt are chambers which store up absorbed vibrations, then release them upon being triggered by the monk, releasing the combined force of each vibration it took in, magnified into a single blast. This blast can happen in several ways:
1. Contact with an object at the moment of release will cause the power to be forced out through the Edentium construction of the sword in the form of massive concentrated concussive vibrations.
2. If the release is triggered without impact, the power will be forced out in a widening cone from the open end of the blade, acting as a massive concussive force for an effective range of twenty feet, at maximum absorption.
Henki: These four daggers are embedded within his body suit along his chest, and are normally covered by a robe by most of the Heart Guard. He displays his proudly however, for they symbolize his choice to destroy each of his four hearts if ever he fails in his duty to serve his Goddess. In the meantime however, they are used anytime they are needed.
---End equipment.
Heart Guard:
Among the people of the Unthulao there are several classes, one such are Monks. Though there are several branches, the one most respected, feared, and pitied are those of the Heart Guard. Respected for the sacrifice they will one day make, feared for their power and prowess, and pitied for the lives destroyed in their creation.
Purpose: They were created at first to be a last line of defense of the Priestess in the days of the Malonea Wars, when the Unthulao were hunted down and destroyed for their beliefs and faith. In time, when peace came to their world and the invaders driven back to the heavens and beyond, the creation of the Guard did not cease. It was learned that they had a relatively short lifespan in comparison to others of their race, but at the same time they were the most hardy and hale. With this in mind, members of the Heart Guard were created in excess and then sent into space, seeking others of their faith, or the home world of those that had so long ago come to ravage their own planet. Each knew the latter was their primary reason for being sent among the stars, to more than likely spend their remaining days in solitude and seeking in vain. This solved a problem for the Monastery though, for it kept them from gaining too much power among the people, which was always a silent threat.
Creation and Differences: First and foremost, each Heart Guard member has five chambers within his or her chest; Four hearts in the approximate location of a cross, with a hollow chamber in the center, the chest being absent of lungs. Since this would make them incredibly vulnerable to attack, having four hearts as targets, for the first four generations alchemy was used to strengthen their bones to the point of Edentium, the webbings of the substance going so far as to create bridges between their ribs for maximum protection. After the fourth generation alchemy was no longer required, as evolution took over and began having the bones secrete a substance as strong as the alloy. The only drawback to this, at first, was that the secretion would leak through the skin and have to be peeled away even as it hardened at contact with the air. This was corrected as each Guardian grew older and could gain full control over his or her body, and could direct the constant flow of * A’redi* to any portion of their body, normally the hands.
A’redi: The substance that coats their bones and flows along veins created by evolution. Within their bodies this is as malleable as blood, except for that encasing bone, but when it touches air an instant chain reaction takes place the moment the flow is severed, making the A’redi a hardened metal. So long as they allow it to flow however, it contains some of its malleable nature, thought more like thin ropes than liquid. For the most part he uses this from his hands, to latch onto objects, his blades, the spheres, anything he touches. If he wished he could have four separate strands pour from each finger, sever them to make them metallic, and use them as needles or thin daggers as an example. The material is transparent and hair-thin if only a single strand of A’redi is used.
--* Hadoni: This mask spoken of before is created by excreting A’redi into his palm while holding the hand to his face, forming the mask in a matter of seconds. Several strands of the substance will also reach out through the pores of his skin to attach the mask into place.
Four Hearts:
1: Presence: This is Jaegur’s main focus. With it being his main focus, this means that it beats the fastest of his four hearts, somewhere in the range of two-hundred to three-hundred beats per minute. Presence is the power of knowing, of action and acting. He can perceive more in a split second than others can in minutes. This ability, coupled with his heightened sense of awareness and the constant flow of adrenaline rocketing through his blood stream makes his reaction time razor thin. When he was a child he could count the beats of a bird’s wings, upstroke and down.
2: Grace: The second heart is something of the gift of his Goddess. Focusing on it fully will allow him to heal another, or soften damage to his own body, without doing any healing.
3: Ruin: The opposite of his Goddess, her consort, that of destruction. Those that are born with Ruin as their main focus normally go insane by the age of twenty-one, and tapping into this heart for any extended period of time can have adverse effects, the most immediate being loss of Grace. Damage taken while using Ruin is increased. Ruin would mainly be used when you know something will be destroyed, to add that extra effort that will make it memorable.
4: Potency: Tapping this heart increases raw power output. Those born with this as their main focus are normally larger than average Guardians, and usually very angry.
Usage: Presence and Potency are the two hearts that are always beating for Jaegur, Presence being his blessing, and Potency being a necessity. Tapping more into Potency than Presence would lessen his awareness, and can only be activated to half the power of Presence, meaning the more he speeds up the heart of Potency the slower Presence beats until they are even. He cannot maintain this though, for his body is not used to operating at anything less than maximum Presence. Tapping either Grace or Ruin will also lessen the power of his other hearts at an equal rate.
The Hollow: In the center of his chest is a hollow chamber, or usually hollow. When Jaegur’s hearts begin to beat at a certain rate they will excrete the pure form of the four hearts, Presence (Psionic fluid concentrated), Potency (Kinetic energy), Grace (molten heat), and Ruin (frozen hatred). The chamber will begin to fill of its own accord, keeping each power separated into four smaller chambers. Once full, it must be used at any cost, no matter the situation. Thought it would seem to be the opposite, Presence and Potency fill up at the slowest rates, with Presence being the slowest as it beats the fastest, therefore is constantly in use. Grace and Ruin fill at almost an equal rate, both moving at roughly twenty beats per minute. Once full, the power is expelled from the body, if controlled then through the hands, if spontaneous then through every available pore.
Fighting technique: As a Heart Guardian, he is as deadly unarmed as he is armed, but just the same he is trained as is every Monk, in the Art. For the most part it is a defensive form of fighting, if hand to hand, and that of using your opponents’ motions and wasted energy against him or her.
Passive:
Strength is increased to that of several men, due to the abnormal amount of adrenaline coursing continuously throughout his body. In the same way, agility is increased to the same level, as well as speed. Speed though has been obtained more based on the fact that with his greatly increased thought processes has come the need for his body to react in kind.
History:
Jaegur, born as Jae’Tsunaeo, has a story just as any other member of the Guard. He was born to a dying mother, and raised since birth in the Monastery, being trained up since before he spoke his first word, mainly because his first word was at age five, when he could master the kinetic release of his Potency enough to force the miniscule power out along his vocal chords, acting as breath. He has never known love or mercy, has killed without thought or reaction. He is not a robot by any means, but being raised to kill has its effects.
On his thirtieth day he learned that he was to be one of those sent among the stars, and only did so without complaint. His journey would not end in a desolate craft drifting through space though, for without his knowledge his Goddess had other plans, plans to raise up to her a warrior such as his people had never dreamt of. She would raise up a destroyer.
Sementiu*: The fabric is meant to stop projectiles of many types, as well as blades swung at certain power levels, though it is by no means impenetrable. As it is interwoven with strands of his personal A’redi, it can act and react to his thoughts to a certain extent. For example, once he is finished with his blades he can lay them against his back and the suit will reach up to wrap its substance around them, holding them in place.
