Description

Age: Appears to be about 17. Actually about 25. Due to where she was born, she appears younger than she physically is.

Gender: Female

Appearance: Rather short at about 5' 2", Jayna is almost a stick. Most clothes hang off of her. She has scraggly, dark reddish-brown hair that hangs messily almost to her waist. She has hundreds of scars, but they resemble light freckles unless you examine her closely. She's also very toned, which is the only thing that keeps her from looking anorexic. She prefers baggy clothes to those that clings and rub against her skin, as they remind her too much of restraints or the clothes she was forced to wear when being trained for certain scenarios that she loathed. She used to have bright green eyes, but they've muddied down to a greenish, almost gray color.

Personality: Jayna talks a lot more in her head than she does aloud. She keeps to herself and rarely speaks. She's much more likely to just follow you than put up a fight. She knows she could probably take you down if she was in danger, anyways. She knows what she's capable of, but doesn't like it. She used to be a sarcastic, funny, and flirty girl. She's still the same, but she's more likely to make the witty remarks in her head. You'd have to surprise her or get under her skin for her to actually talk to you. The only thing she does that breaks her almost catatonic state is that once a day she does various stretches to keep herself limber.

Reason for being captured: Government experiment.

World of Origin: Karnae

History: Jayna grew up in the very picture of an average household. However, she was not normal. She noticed things most 6 years wouldn't even care about. She needed specific reasons before she'd agree to do something. She wasn't rebellious, but she wanted a strange level of understanding. People found it near impossible to hide things from her because she could sense something off, if not what. The government took notice. In her ninth season(year), the government came and took her. Since then, she's been experimented upon to improve her combat skills and intuition. Her ability to notice lies, hidden hostility, imminent attacks, and predict actions has improved greatly. Some have called her psychic, but she is far from. In her sixteenth year in the institute, she was taken.

Jayna Berais's Story

Jayna Berais pushed open the bar door, grimacing at the strange smells coming from inside. She'd been told this was a great place to come to feel normal, but she had a feeling that today was a slow day. Oh, well. At least I can get some peace and quiet this way. Potentially, she thought. Making her way to the bar, she ordered a coke and rum and surveyed her surroundings.

Jayna Berais glanced over at the woman who'd just entered the bar. Jayna's eyebrows raised as she recognized the language the woman spoke as French. She thought she recognized one of the words. 'Mort'? Wasn't that french for dead or death or something of the sort? Jayna looked at the woman, not sure whether to talk to her or not. The fact that Jayna didn't speak French was a rather large strike in the 'Not' category.

Jayna Berais looked up again as she heard the woman speak again. Finally, curiosity plus the fact that she didn't want to sit here alone all night made her speak up. "So, just curious. I know my French is hardly perfect, but did you just say you were glad someone was dead? Not that I can't relate, you just don't hear that very often," Jayna said, smiling akwardly as if she wasn't used to the motion.

Jayna Berais nodded. She was reluctant to let the conversation die, though she wasn't quite sure what to say to that. Jayna held out her hand to the woman. "My name's Jayna," she offered. She wasn't so stupid as to let out her last name. Hell, she usually used a fake first name.

Jayna Berais smiled and nodded again. "Yes, it's a pleasure to meet you as well. What brings you to Gambit's?" she asked, looking around the establishment, her eyes narrowing just slightly in distaste. She didn't like the smell of the place and the conversations she'd overheard were of absolutely not interest to her.
