A rustling in the bushes a short distance from Eve sounded as amongst them, a short young girl was moving. At four foot ten, Kirae was an average height for her people, and her head of white hair was barely noticeable sticking out of the top of the brush.

Pale green skin was clad in a black, fitted robe-like leather armour, and she held a rather ... unsettling focus in her right hand. Namely a twisted black knife, with a hilt decorated with a skull. It probably wasn't real, though, given the size of it. No bigger than a fist. Probably.

After a few seconds, the little creature emerged out into the area that Eve sat, half-stumbling as she did so. She blinked at the witch in surprise, and glanced around. "I believe that I may have taken a wrong turn at some point ..." she noted.

Kirae straightened, smiling. "I am Kirae Tzilia, born of the Cycle of the Night." she responded brightly, "I had come here looking for what I was told was a place where people often surreptitiously deposit corpses, but I fear that it is not here."

A brief pause followed.

"That may have seemed misleading, I apologise. I am not looking to surreptitiously deposit a corpse, but rather find one to study. I am a necromancer, you see!"

"Oh, I am aware of the illegality, but I don't think that anyone will mind." Kirae said, smiling. "These are hardly graves, just holes in the ground that happen to have people in! I am sure that most of the people there did lots of illegal things, and am certain that their deaths were very illegal indeed. There is little harm in making good use of them now!"

At Eve's question, Kirae tilted her head in thought. "I have been studying and practising necromancy since my second year of waking, and I am currently in my seventh, so approximately five years have passed of my 'going into' it. It is a difficult concept to define as a distance, but I like to consider myself a capable practitioner of the art."

"Oh, yes, my people are born fully formed." Kirae explained with a smile, "We go through our childhoods before we have physical form. I can go into detail if you want, but a passable explanation is that we experience a collective dream before we blossom, where we learn. Things like fire is hot, this is a river, this is how to use a sword, or cast a spell if you are so inclined."

Kirae waved a hand, "I could continue for many hours, but that is slightly beside the point. I wish to know, how is it that it is wrong, morally? These bodies, they have no souls left in them. They will not suffer any further from what I do, and their families have long assumed them dead and have no knowledge of there whereabouts, so they will not suffer either. If, as it seems, nobody suffers as a result of what I do, then why is it wrong?"

Kirae didn't sound like she was arguing, quite the contrary, her question sounded entirely genuine, curiosity lighting up her golden eyes.

"Oh, I am aware that many races hold their dead in honour, but I did not realise that it extended to even the anonymous dead." Kirae said, "I thought that it was due to an emotional attachment to the vessels that once held their loved ones, as opposed to a general reverence for the condition."

Kirae crossed her hands behind her back idly, pondering Eve's question. "I cannot put a finger on the exact trigger for my beginning my studies, but many of my race have a fascination with death. We are a young people, it was only twenty five years prior to the present day that the Pale Tree blossomed with our firstborn. None of us have reached the end of our natural lifespans, the only deaths amongst us have been by violence, accident or disease. So to us, death is far more enrapturing a mystery than to the other races."

"Well, I am told that all things find a home in the Multiverse, or else I could not have found my way here." Kirae said, "But the land I come from is very different, yes. It is known as Tyria, and is home to many races, of which ours is the youngest. It would take longer than a single meeting to explain all that I know of my homeland."

Kirae nodded, "But the Pale Tree, that is the source of my race. It was planted by the prophet Ventari, a centaur, and his human companion Ronan. At the foot of the tree he laid a tablet, inscribed upon which was the way that he believed that life should be led - a message of compassion, honour, and values that most hold highly. When we were born, we adopted those as our own creed."

"Help?" Kirae inquired, "Of what nature? Were you not opposed to my planned activity regarding the retrieval of the corpses in question? Or did you mean for something else?"

The young Sylvari did not sense Eve's embarrassment, and simply awaited clarification passively.

"Oh, certainly, it is a good deed to help another, but I am not one to hold you obligated to such things." Kirae said, rolling her shoulders, "But if you wish to, then I would certainly appreciate the help!"

Kirae smiled, "You wouldn't happen to have spotted an oddly bare area of particularly lush grass around here, would you? That's the description I was given."

"There would not be gravestones. The men who bury these bodies do not honour those they have murdered." Kirae said simply, shaking her head.

"Ah well! We will simply have to search. I have a vague idea, though I believe that I took a wrong turn to end up here. So, the most obvious choice would be to go back the way I came."

Turning on the spot, Kirae began to move back into the brush, pushing her way through the foliage.

"Do you refer to where I came from, as my home, or the point at which I believe I made an incorrect turn?" Kirae responded, moderately surprised by Eve's teleportation, but recovering quickly. "If you mean the former, then I am uncertain, geographically. I got here via a malfunctioning portal, and do not know the relative locations of our worlds."

The Sylvari glanced left and right, "If you mean the latter, then no. Here, in fact." she noted, turning right and making her way through what appeared to be a pre-beaten path with flattened foliage. "This seems promising!"
