Description
Kurt's face is weathered from literally years of wandering the highs and lows of the worlds, and dresses in many layers, the most prominent being a brown cloak with an attached hood.
Personality
Kurt has an attitude of "been there, done that" when faced with most brags, because chances are he actually has. However, when it comes to a fight, he rarely holds back.
Equipment
Kurt's most prominent item is a quarterstaff, which usually finds use as a walking stick but also aids in personal defense. His most prominent gear, however, is his research equipment, being a wizard of no small stature, yet somehow he can carry it easily.
History
Growing up the adopted son of a cartographer, Kurt inherited a strong desire to fill in those areas marked as "terra incognita." His research into various spells designed for ease of travel, particularly teleportation, makes most who know of his work place him in high regard.
Kurt Bannon walks in, his nose in a book covered with arcane markings from cover to cover, and much of the same is scrawled across the pages.
Kurt Bannon wasn't too sure what was going on at Gambit's, but there was a bigger fluctuation of mana than normal coming from there. Cautiously using a dimension door spell to do a short-range teleport to a place within a couple blocks, the situation was a bit more clear-cut. Some idiot was trying to drag the place down to the Hells with him. This would be one of the more difficult dispels he had attempted in his long life, and it would be time consuming, but his position and distance should mitigate that somewhat.
Vlkanor, drameth-van-bleeth, danouin zaray palakal vanootz!
Kurt Bannon would begin the ritual to sever the tie between this plane and wherever the hells that portal was trying to lead everyone with these words from two blocks away. His body may be slightly past his prime, but you didn't live as long as he had without picking up a few tricks.
Kurt Bannon furrowed his brow even as sweat ran down in in his continued efforts to separate the warp and weft of this Weave from each other, effectively destroying the spell. He had indeed chosen his vantage point wisely: Everyone that was getting up close and personal for this confrontation would have their magics taken out by a successful casting of this disjunction, but he was far enough away that he would be unaffected.
Kurt Bannon was dumbfounded as to the futility of his efforts. This was the ultimate dispel known to mortals, effective even against the mightiest of artifacts, and it was being brushed aside with nary a thought. Something was seriously wrong here, and he would need to investigate later, but right now the situation was too turbulent to risk getting any closer.
Kurt Bannon looked up from a booth near the bar. It was like he had always been there, yet nobody had paid him any attention. His weather-beaten garb seemed to have some extremely stubborn road dust on it, as evidenced by his persistent yet unsuccessful attempts to brush it off.
Kurt Bannon finally sounded like he gave up. Looked like it was time to start talking, get news of the road from the others here. They were a diverse lot, so he was bound to come across something new or exciting. But whom should he talk to...?
Kurt Bannon watched imperiously over the young student as she practiced her art. "Because one should not reach beyond the boundaries of life. That sapling was not merely diseased, but quite dead. But fear not...in the wake of this one death, your fire has released the nutrients trapped in its form back to the soil, thereby enabling new growth. That is the cycle of nature--one must seek to obey it when possible, and maybe give it a little nudge every now and then."
Kurt Bannon shook his head at his new apprentice's assertion. "If you feel good enough about yourself that you can say that, then you might as well tell yourself the opposite. Such prophecies have a way of fulfilling themselves, you know...as of now, I'm still trying to learn where your interests and talents lie. You see? The life of a wizard is one of constant learning!"
