"And what, if I may ask...are you, handsome?" Came a voice behind the man, smooth and controlled. There was more than a hint of mischievousness within that voice. If he turned around, he would see a woman partially covered in shadows. She was leaned against a much closer pillar, her long legs crossed over one another, and a pair of pink lips curved into a smile. Long, black hair lapped over her shoulders, ending at her knees.

"Quite interesting...a man showing up out of nowhere..."

"Shy, aren't we?" Said the girl, her voice much, much closer now. If he turned to look at her again, he'd see she was almost right beside him, back facing him, but her head turned just barely. "Phoenix, right? Interesting. M'names not as exciting, I suppose. Luli. Sounds dreadful, doesn't it?" She said, looking as if she were busy cleaning her nails. She had caught sight og that glowing scar...rune...thing. Whatever it was.
Well...what was it?

"Well, I certainly didn't know what you're gone through, but I doubt it was any more interesting or horrifying than anything I've gone through, myself," purred the young woman, polishing her nails onto the short frock she wore. However short, however, the dress still retained some modesty with the high neck and the layers of skirts at the bottom. She ran her eyes down the scar, musing as if she were feeling it with the tips of her fingers. "What's that?" She asked blandly.

"Ahhh, an angry God? Worst fellows you can meet up with. And spoiled his daughter? You've got yourself in a pit, dear," she said, circling him, none too bashfully, either. "How bad did they cut the curse, mm? It must be something to do with how you got here...or is that a talent?" Now, was this a tease or was it truthful curiosity? Not that anything that came out of the woman's mouth felt to be particularly truthful. They felt thick with deceit and lies, though something else seemed to be reaching through.

"Cannot age and cannot die," she said, pronouncing each word with care mixed with a bit of amusement. She noticed his apparent discomfort from the beginning. She wasn't daft. She was just taking time to built up to ask. The girl was very patient. She smiled as her eyes ran across him, almost hungrily. She seemed pleased with what was before her.

"And I suppose that's why you're here now? You look a bit pained." Anything I could help with?
It was as if the sentence was telepathically delivered, or maybe the thought so strong that it passed silently between them. She might have even whispered it. She had put her hand up to her lips briefly, so it would have been hard to tell.

"Well, isn't that a tad bit interesting?" The girl laughed. Whether it was in response to his statement of his death or to the telepathic thoughts, again, it was difficult to tell. Her eyes squinted tight when she smiled, and one could tell it was absolute joy in her eyes, however, whether it was joy for the right reason was the question. "Then I'm assuming you do need help?"

"I'd lift up my dress and show you, kid, but I don't think we know each other well enough for that," she gave him a sly wink, "Yet." She somewhat bent down to inspect the wound, coming very close to him, but being careful to avoid actual contact. She reached out a hand toward his side, fingers close enough for him to feel their warmth, if not their touch. "I hope you're not to adverse to magic, Phoenix."

"Well, like I didn't notice. It's a bit obvious, but some people are allergic to the magic of others. Strange, isn't it?" She said, her fingers twitching. Soon, a golden thread of light flickered and danced between her digits, collecting at her palm and then oozing into the red patch like water falling from a sink faucet. Within seconds, the spot would slowly ebb away, receding into its center. "Well, there. Didn't seem to do such a bad job." She said, pleased.

"Hm. Sometimes, it can even do wonders then. You can't die, and you live forever. How is that a curse, really? I'd see it as a gift," the girl said, though there was a bit of knowing in her voice, something that said she didn't entirely believe her words herself. She took one silent step away from the young man, one eyebrow raised.
"Not a problem."

"Well, you get the chance to meet new friends. New people. All the time. Maybe meet someone you would never have gotten the chance to otherwise...someone you'd find yourself fond of. Of course, you might have already found a bunch of those, but you'd have to keep looking forward. Who knows what you'll find, mm?" She spoke wisely, as if she had been through the exact same thing before. Maybe she had, maybe she hadn't. Like always, this young woman was shrouded in mystery.

"Well, what'd I do to make that impression, then?" She asked, though another sly smile planted itself across her lips, and she clasped her hands behind her back as she continued to step away, her hair flowing over her shoulders like two black ribbons against pale skin. "It's not like I've been implying anything, after all. You must be over-thinking it." She gave him a wink.

"Try not to strain yourself."

The woman leaned to the side a bit, tilting her chin up to peer down at him. It wasn't threatening in any way. It looked as if she was just trying to see him from a different perspective, or maybe doing so in thought. Her lips parted, revealing white teeth as she grinned. Maybe not telling him everything was all a game to her. She stepped to the side, now circling him from a distance. "And you're so very afraid of becoming close to others? Doesn't it get a bit lonely?"

"Do you sleep at all?" Your bed must be awfully lonely, she thought, though it wasn't quite a telepathically delivered one like before. That is, if it really was telepathy. That was still a mystery, as well. She stopped by a pillar, leaning onto it the same as she had before. She crossed her arms and looked at the blue fire, somewhat amused. She didn't seem to notice the piece of cloth that was curling around her neck from the darkness.

"Well, don't you think there should be some way to re-" her words were cut short. The cloth had tightened around her throat, cutting off her air supply. Her hands were brought up to her throat in panic, and she tried to speak. There was only one person that was more silent than she was. Only one person who could sneak up to her with such ease...
"D-D...Du..." She gagged, trying to speak the names of the muscular brown-hared man who held her in place as she slowly began to black out. Her eyes looked to Kale, possibly with fear or a desperate plead.

A hand moved around the woman's arm, gripping it tightly. It helped to keep her up as she was pushed forward, the light revealing the cold eyes and stern expression of a man as tanned as Luli herself. His other hand held the cloth, which only tightened as she struggled. However, something strange was happening to his skin as the woman began to die. His skin began to adopt a grey coloration, then began to have the likening to stone. At the sight of this, the man let Luli go, as if her touch was poison. "So it works even if you can't speak..." he said sulkily, veering at the woman with hatred. He turned his eyes to Phoenix coldly. "You don't know the feeling of pain as I do," he said before receiving a prompt slap from his coughing mistress.

"Get outside...and...and wait for me to...get you!" She hissed, sliding down the pillar as her charge then turned to leave. She held her throat, which was red.

The girl looked up to Phoenix, possibly surprised at his sudden kindness. Then again, she had just healed him as a perfect stranger. Maybe it had just been a small exchange. She rubbed her throat and grunted. She noted the blades, and left the image in her mind after they'd disappear. Remembering that would be...useful.

"He's...my servant. Indentured servant. He's a bit murderous, as you can see." She said, her voice hoarse. She didn't look like she was willing to say anything more either, though if prompted she probably would. She heaved a sigh, then blew into a fit of coughs again before calming down.

"You're so fueled up for a girl you'd only just met?"

"Well...he...I...he has a collar. If you pulled away his shirt you'd see a stripe across his neck. It...stops him...from killing me. He'd turn to stone if he did. And I can stop him from killing other people, too." She wasn't telling him why she kept him around in the first place. That was a whole different matter entirely.
Well, sort of.

"And you're dead? But...ah. That confuses me a bit. Did you say you couldn't die?"

"Ah. That makes more sense," she said, taking a final deep breath to make sure she wasn't going to burst into another fit. She stood up shakily, pulling his coat over her shoulders further. After shaking her head, she returned, somewhat, to her normal, calm self, though she seemed fairly shaken up. He hadn't tried something like that in a while.

"I'm sorry that had to happen. And since you just got revived, too. He has...terrible manners."

She held out her hand, hoping he's take it. "Nice to meet you then, Kale. I always thought Phoenix was a tad strange for a birth name." She said, laughing the smallest bit. Oh, she needed to get over herself. They'd been getting along so well! She'd been dancing around him with her shadowy mysteries! Damn Duke for ruining it!

"So what do you plan to do now?"

"How long does it take for you to revive? And...do you even know where you are?" She asked, gripping Kale's hand firmly, but without crushing it. Her hand might have been small in his. It was very slight, that was for sure. It was the first time she'd even touched him, too. She didn't even try during the healing.
