A fifteen-year-old boy enjoying life on his own.
Matthew has scruffy dark hair, green eyes, and is about average height and build. He generally wears casual clothes: t-shirt, jeans, hoodie, converses, and carries a rucksack with him. He usually has a serious or thoughtful expression on his face, and has a small birthmark on his wrist.
He's generally quite quiet as he doesn't really talk to people he doesn't know, but he can be banterful/cocky when given the chance. He's very bright for his age and did well in school despite hating the experience. Has a generally negative outlook on life but enjoys the simple things, too. He's quite rash in his actions, but quick-thinking and practical. He hates it when people tell him what to do, especially adults, and is quite awkward around girls due to little experience thanks to his rtaher isolated upbringing and attending an all-boys school.
In his rucksack:
From a wealthy, aristocratic family in Summerset, his parents are both civil servants working for the government. He is their second and youngest child with a seventeen-year age gap between him and his older brother, Henry. Because of his parents' busy lifestyles, he was brought up by his 'nanny' Florence (who he called Ossie), and had a happy childhood. Ossie's boyfriend, Brendan taught Matthew some skills like driving, lock-picking and basic survival stuff. When Matthew was eleven, Ossie was killed in a car crash on Boxing Day - afterwards, Brendan joined the RAF to get away from the memories and Matthew was sent to boarding school in London by his father. He was expelled from his first school for setting fire to the PE shed and ran away from the second after causing an accident. He's been living on the streets for about three months.
