It would be quite the hard life for her if Nima minded what she was, and being surrounded by 'normal' humans all the time. It happened so often she would be uncomfortable all the time, and that would just be a bother.
And she could do with less bothers.
When the man corrected himself from legs to appendages, she nodded enthusiasticly and gave him a wide grin. "Now ye gettan it!" She exclaimed happily, putting her hands onto her hips. She eyes the tumbler for a second, remembering the alarming amount of alcohol that humans loved to consume. It always tasted like unhealth to her.
Yes, unhealth, because that was the word she created when first learning the common language of Wing City.
"Ya shant have te apologize. S'not like I'm not used to it, ya?" She giggled, though it didn't come out like one of those silly, girly, sissy giggles. It was full of amusement.

"Oh, whoops! Completely didn't mean not to answer tha qwuest'un!" She gasped, her fingers flying to her lips as she pursed her lips. She was asked this plenty of times. She should know the answer right off the bat!
Even then, it was always so strange to be asked. It was like asking why someone had two eyes, or a mouth, or hands!
"Well, I was born withem." She said, unfolding her legs to stretch them out. They were each about ten or so feet long, with four joints separating each digit. They ended in sharp, spiky points, which looked ideal for impaling something.
"M' from a race called Aran'ta. When I came here, it was strange to not see people with spida append'ges. I asked someone why, too!"

Nima Arana grinned once more, spreading her hands outward and motioning her shoulders upward in a shrug. "I wouldn't thenk so, cuz you neva seen nothin' like me before, right? Like I said, I asked the same question win I came here!" She told him. She was about to take another sip of water and ask this man a few questions of her own when she spotted Purity, the shy, reserved girl looking their way. She rocked her human legs back and forth for a bit and blinked those large eyes of hers.
"'eya, there, missy! Ye wan't some conv'sation?" She asked, taking the sip she was meaning to before placing it down and planting her chin in her palm with a lazy smile.
Whenever she shifted her position in that stool, she had to stretch out her arachnid bits so she would be comfortable, and that was quite the bother.
She had too many, and, like said before, she could do with less.

"Well, alright, then." Nima said, shrugging as she furrowed her brows. Well, that was no fun! The least the girl could do was come over and talk!
And it was no secret that the girl loved to talk...
When Purity had looked into Nima's yellow eyes, however, she nearly squealed in delight. She had the prettiest eyes!
Of course, Nima's bangs hid her...extra eyes. Because, for some reason, people were more freaked out by those than the legs.
Humans were so strange.

"So, I neva caught ye name, sir? M' Nima. Nima Arana." She greeted him, holding out a brown hand. She inclined her head a bit and peered at his eyes, too. She only just noticed how much they stuck out. What with the brown and the pale skin and all.

"Is nice to meetcha. Really," Nima said, grabbing his with a more powerful grip, though it wasn't at all a display of power or anything of the like.
It was hard to believe that, just a year before, Nima had been just like Miss Purity over there. Shy and fidgety. Worrying about her people.
How strange.
She leaned over, curious, and quickly whispered to Veld. "Eh...might there be anythin' wrong with th' lassy ova there? She seems a bit...she seems ta be keepin' ta hersel'."

No color was lacking here at all! Well, then again, maybe just a bit. Nima was one of the few dark-skinned individuals here, and she wasn't even human.
But that never mattered, because there was such a diverse group of races, including elves, hairy people, aliens...it just didn't make sense to care.
At Veld's answer, Nima nodded slowly, placing her hands on her lap and folding them, one over the other. She slid her yellow eyes over to look at Purity, who was currently trying to damage herself without knowing how to do so properly.
Which made it hard to watch.
"Hey, hey, now!" Nima called, using her spider appendages to stand her up and lean over closer to the shy girl. "There aint no need ta be doin' tha'! Why doncha come ova here and have a talk te' us, really? I'll buy you sum nice' drenks then...whiskey." She gave her a reassuring smile. "Couldn' hurt, eh?"

"M' Nima, if ye didn' hear b'fore." She said, happy she'd actually gotten the woman to come over. She lowered herself onto the stool once more, and folded her legs back into that somewhat comfortable position she had to curl them into.
If the bar was made just a little differently, she could have just let them rest on the ground...but no! People liked to act blind and trip and step and spill things all over them when she did that!
Bother, bother, bother.
"A'righty, then. Now tha' we're altogether, it's easier to talk, right? I never asked what ever'one asks's here, though." She began, drinking the rest of her water. "What ye be doin' here, Veld, Purity?" She asked them both.

Nima Arana nodded her head, though she felt as if there were things they were just not telling her. Of course, people did that often. Especially in Gambits. Lots of things to hide, lots of things that should stay as such. She wasn't going to dig.
She looked at Veld's face and scanned it for a quick second. True, she didn't seem to be the analyzing type, or the person who would notice such things, but she did note that he was somewhat...not somber, but unamused, or something along those lines, earlier. Those smiles were not true smiles, and nor were those laughs.
Something had changed, and she didn't know what, or why.
This made her pinch her brow, but only for a swift moment.
She also noted that stare Purity gave the man, but acted as if she hadn't noticed at all.
At all.
"Ah, so adventurin' fe' you-" She nodded her head toward sir brown eyes and pale skin,
",and drinkin' fe you, eh miss?" She laughed, looking at miss shy and magenta eyes, there. "I guess Wing City be the best thing fe' that."

It was plenty obvious that Purity was either, one, not a good drinker, or two, very new at it. Or just not one to often at drinking.
Because she looked very strange when she did.
However, Veld wasn't a stranger to alcohol at all. In fact, he seemed almost too comfortable with it, despite his mental claims that he wasn't an avid drinker.
Though, Nima didn't know he thought this.

Her eyes flickered to several beings in the bar at once. One was Jamie and the doll. She was speaking to her, which was strange.
But everyone in Gambits was strange.
Second was Amy, some woman who seemed quite new to the place.
Not strange, either.
Fourth was the Invictus member. Oh, them, Nima thought. Those mercenary people.

And fifth was that man in the corner who seemed to be watching Purity intently. Now, that was sketchy. Sketchier than the doll and the girl. She decided that acting nonchalant about it was the best option. "So...am."
She searched for a topic.
Stuck.
"You both human? I mean. There be lots of different people here, ye know!"

Nima Arana stretched out her spider legs for the fourth or fifth time that night when she shifted position. At some point, the joints cracked, which made Nima jump. Cracking in her arachnid legs were much more audible and were able to be felt much, much more than in a normal human limb. Because of the giant exoskeleton and all. You know how it goes.
Ah...well, scratch that.
In any case, Nima had noticed Veld look over to the man she'd spotted earlier. She tried to catch his gaze, and if she did, would narrow her eyes just a bit to signal that she thought something was wrong.
'Sketchy! He's really sketchy!' she screamed in her mind, even though Veld wasn't a mindreader. She was all too silly, sometimes.
"Ah, really? Both human? So strange!" She laughed. "Yea, our eyes are usually yellow or red...or other colors."
She leaned, in, as if telling them a secret. "And we got these, too!"
She lifted her bangs, revealing the tiny, beady spider eyes that accompanied her human ones. They weren't even a half-inch large, with two sitting on either temple, and right above her eyebrows. This was great, Now she could tie her hair back and be able to look at everyone else...which mostly meant that sketchy guy...without having to turn her head.

"I am hardly a thing!" Nima exclaimed, tying back her hair with a...well, with a hair tie, and huffing her cheeks. "I do' even know why you'd say sumfin like tha'!" She said, then crossing her arms, a bit miffed.
"Yea, true, I mi' be a bi'...diff'rent." She admitted, trying to turn so the spider bits were slightly hidden. "Bu' I sure am no' a thing! How you be callin' this a thin'?" She exclaimed for the last time, indicating with her hand her head down. Which was actually quite attractive. Small waist, curves int he right place, a slender form...she wasn't forced to marry three men for nothing.
"M' insulted!" She complained.

"It's...fine. I guess." She said, crossing her arms and sighing. She ran her fingers through her hair and looked at the sketchyman in the corner with her side vision. Her beady eyes did not blink. At all.
"Ye haven't any need to do tha', but I thank ye. I don' drink, ye know?"

She looked back to Purity and Veld. "Ye aint needta worry 'bout 'im. It 'appens all th' time!" She laughed, trying to make the situation look quite light-hearted, despite having someone asking to kill her.
The usual.
"Don' be fraid, missy!" She told Purity. "I wo' let nobody hurtche, if tha's whatche want!"

And then, to Veld, she looked uneasily at the spilled alcohol.
"Tha' smells bad."

Pfft! Didn't have a chance?
She was a spider woman! Of course she would!
...right?
Because she had magic, too...

Well, not that Nima was thinking all of this stuff. She was just resting her chin on her knees, which she'd just drawn up to her chest with ease. "M'not sure how much help I can be...but I do know some combat!"
More than some combat. She'd been training for the last few years how to defend herself.
She then decided to spark the conversation. She wanted to dig, now. She felt like it.
"So...why ye really in Gambits, eh? Th' both o' ya."

'I had a feeling.' Nima thought, slitting her eyes. She watched Purity go from her side vision, and smiled behind her knees. Before she put them down, she was sure to wipe that pleased look off her face.
Alcohol sometimes did wonderful things.
"An' so ye were tellin' the truth. Tha's good. Ye don' have much te hide, then." She guessed, folding her legs on the deat.
Which wasn't the smartest thing to do, since she was wearing something similar to a short dress. She didn't seem to notice.

Then, the man she'd been watching vanished, and it confused her greatly. "Wh-wha?" She said, whipping her head around to look at the empty booth.
"Somethin'...happen?" She slurred her words, biting her bottom lip. "Eh?"

"Ye, I think that'd be wise. Make sure she didn' fall in tha commode, y'know?" She told him, making it a kind of code-speak. Though it failed, because no one was looking out for them anyway.
Or so Nima thought.
She did not see any little critters talk about her, though a shiver did run up her back. It was the equivalent to the human myth that, if you sneeze, someone is talking about you. Funny.
She raised up on all four spider legs and quickly skittered over to the bathroom, her legs making those loud, hoof-like noises as she did so. She made it over there in just a few strides, and straightened her spider bits out behind her so she could fit through the entrance to the bathroom.
She opened the door to a rather disturbing scene.
"Er...Purity? Lass?" She said aloud. She put her hand out behind her back and began to conjure a spell.

"Oi, I aint doin' nothin' like tha'!" She cried, her hand whipping out. However, when Purity had lunged, the sketchy guy had gone.
"Wha' th-" She looked around, spell ready, raising up onto her spider appendages. "He aint gettin' way, y'know? He aint!"

It was funny that she was mad, getting worked up over something like this.
"He ain' gettin' way..."

Nima Arana skittered over to Purity and attempted to help her up to her feet, appendages sliding across the floor and nearly making her fall flat on the floor. She decided human feet were best, and allowed herself to be lowered to the ground. Again.
"M'not worried about gettin' killed. Then I be worried too much, and tha's just bothersome, ya?" She grinned at Purity. "And I really could do wi' less butha's!"
She spotted Veld through the doorway. "Ye, we good. Prolly got a bruise or two, bu' th' man went away. We cummin' out..."

"I can take care o' her...and don' be expectin' me te come in wif ye!" She yelled back jokingly at Veld. As Purity and herself walked to the counter, she rubbed her arms and scanned the area with all six of her eyes. She was wary, now, and with good reason.
A killer was on the loose...but one trying to kill a small girl like this? It wasn't strange, just not very good.
She was tiring of her human legs...she never really worked them out, didn't use them much. Never really needed to. She should probably start, Nima thought to herself.

"Ye story? That'd be good. Maybe I ca' help ye a bit."

"N'I bet ye be runnin from this man, eh? Hm. I don' like him. I neva liked him frum the time I saw 'im. Pure sketch, I think." She said, crossing her arms. She then retreated her hand and ran it through her hair. "An wut kinda price he be payin'?" She asked.
Then, she suddenly felt the need to leave.
"Oh, bloody spirits! Tha' again?" She sighed heavily. "Lissen. Purity, I'll talk to ye the 'morrow, or some sort."
She took something off of her wrist.
"This'll seem awfully chiche. Again. But I don' wanna leave ye."
She gave her something that looked like a bracelet with a large, red stone in the middle. The silver around it was intricately decorated with spiders and webs.
"This calls out Anganatra. S' a spirit ova us arachnids. Ye utter a word, like 'fire' or sumpin, and it'll happen. But be careful, m'kay? It can be dangerous."
She then hoisted up onto her spider legs and skittered out of the door. "Be careful!" She called.

Into the bar came a tall, slender young woman, dressed somewhat lavishly in a short dress and about a million bracelets on her wrist, all jangling together when she moved. She had to bend her knees to get through the entrance. If course, she wasn't so tall she had to bend her human knees.
It was the knees to her spider legs.
Because, as beautiful and whole as Nima was, with her smooth dark skin and thick, dirty blonde hair, she had something...extra.
Four long, brown spider legs jutted from her back, just behind her shoulders. She walked on these, and not on her human legs, which dangled under her slender form, weak and very unused.
