A perfectly ordinary-looking man, except for those that have seen him in situations where luck plays a significant role.
Norman is almost like Mr. Rogers in his heavy preference for cardigan sweaters in a dizzying array of colors no matter the weather. Of course, the state of being born human causes one to have such eccentricities.
Norman reacts to most situations as an ordinary person might be expected to, if one sees the world through the lens of one who has Awakened to magic. He seems a little less easily startled or caught off guard by anything than your typical human, though. He has a remarkable ability to ignore such things as injury and sleepiness, but good luck trying to wake him up in the morning.
As a member of the Adamantine Arrow, Norman has been trained to be ready for warfare in all of its forms. To that end, he carries the following:
-Rapier: Self-explanatory. (Damage dice pool 6, armor piercing 1)
-Steyr-Aug with 42 bullets plus one in the chamber. A fully automatic weapon similar to the famous AK-47 assault rifle, capable of approximately 10 rounds per second. Bursts of fire give bonuses to the damage dice pool depending on the length of the burst. (Base damage dice pool 8 dice.)
-One can of pepper spray. Because one never knows when one might need to give someone a shock to their senses that they'll never forget. (Damage dice pool (3 - target's Defense) dice, melee range only, 3 uses. Success removes five dice from affected target's dice pools for the rest of the encounter. Not effective against the unliving.)
-For armor, Norman's status as a military man lets him walk around with a thin Kevlar bulletproof vest, which might partially explain his predilection for wearing sweaters. (Subtract 1 die from melee damage dice pools, and 2 from ranged damage pools against Norman. Damage done by ranged attacks is downgraded from lethal to bashing.)
Rote Spells:
-Blessings Of the Gods (9 dice; gain 9 again on a number of future rolls designated before the roll equal to number of successes, except on chance dice)
-Achilles' Heel (9 dice vs. target's Resolve + Gnosis: Winning means that successes are added as a bonus to damage dice pools originating from the designated "doom")
-Night As Day (6 dice: Success applies darkness penalties to bright light instead)
-Strike True (8 dice: Successes are added as bonus dice on the next roll that the caster makes, provided it's not to cast another spell)
-Failure Is Death (5 dice: Success allows a reroll of an action taken in the next turn, and the better of the two rolls is applied)
Born and raised a normal human, to the point of having a perfectly normal name, Norman was living a normal life when he entered a gambling house one day and had a run of luck so amazing that the owner of the house knew something was up. It turned out that Norman was already on the Acanthus path, whose followers are especially gifted at manipulating the time streams and the hand of Fate.
