Personality

Normally a calm, if somewhat distant fellow, Riaze is a quiet type of man, typically thoughtful and collected. While he retains a distinct dislike for vampires, his anger over the decades has largely cooled, leaving him less prone to berserk rages at the mere sight. A loyal, if cool person, Riaze is pleasant enough to have as a friend. But with a capacity for ruthlessness, crossing him as a foe is oft ill advised.

Equipment

Riaze is a lycan, but of the line of Nightroad. Being a pureblood of the line, his changed form is different, that of an immense dire wolf. In this form, he is a very large, very powerful and swift wolf, midnight black with burning red eyes. In addition to this unique form among werewolves, his line has several unique talents.

In Riaze' travels, he has gained new abilities and furthered his skills within elemental manipulation.

Silver Resistance is the primary talent of the Nightroad line, members are able to physically touch silver without risk of harm. It is only when they are pierced with silver that it causes them harm, yet it does not have the paralyzing effect that silver usually has on other werewolves. Additionally, poisoning through silver is only half likely to kill them, but assured to have the paralyzing effect as stated before.

Beast Sensory is the second among the Nightroad's talents. All werewolves has heightened sense, but those of the Nightroad line have theirs superior to the point where it often seems as though they are telepathic.

Elemental Manipulation is the final of their talents, when in their human form they have control to manipulate an element. In young ages, they control all of them with basic skill, but with age one in particular develops and they become adepts within their own area. Riaze controls darkness. His skills have been honed during his travels, and he can now merge the shadows with his flesh to form weapons and armor, walk through darkness like a portal, and draw from the darkness to bolster his own energies and strength. Riaze has the ability to use this technique in a limited fashion in his wulven form.

Tumba de Maria, taken up once anew, is an unusual sword. Weighing nearly as much as Riaze in his human form, it is constructed of solid granite, a spar broken off in one piece from the capstone of the burial site of his dead mate, Maria. Rumoured to be bound with a portion of Maria's essence, it is infused with light energy, in itself demonstrated to be consecrated ground. As such, it's effectiveness against unholy and undead creatures is formidable. The style in which it demands wielding, however, is extremely unorthodox.

Dark Wolf is a form that involves bonding with shadows as Riaze shifts into wolf form. The result is a hybrid of human, wolf, and shadow gifted with extreme strength and agility, as well as the retained power of manipulating the darkness. Powerful though it may be, he can only use the form twice a day, for five minutes at a time. Any longer, and he risks twisting his flesh into a crippled monstrosity.

So begins...

Riaze Nightroad The bar door opened quietly, and the man that entered paused for a moment inside the threshold. His pale skin almost seemed to glow in the dim light, his lone bloodred eye sweeping across the patron crowd with meticulous care. His nostrils flared, one would think he was scenting the bar's air for some smell that he sought. Shrugging, he lifted a hand to his face, lighting a cigarette that dangled from his lips.

An almost feral air hung about him as he slipped through the crowd. It seemed strong enough that even those that lusted for a fight would pause before thinking about striking. For he was completely unarmed, from the cap on top of his head to his moccasins. Only fools or dangerous people came into Gambit's as such.

Riaze tapped on the bar quietly, summoning the attention of the barkeep. "Could I get an ale, please?" His voice was smooth and his speech elegant, as if he were at a high class party. Mysterious, this newcomer. Mysterious indeed.

Riaze Nightroad placed the gold coins on the counter, his expression still the same neutral line as it had been when he walked in. He nodded once to Alice, the corners of his mouth tilting upwards in the briefest of small smiles. "Thank you, miss."

Receiving his ale, he walked off slowly to an empty table, sipping at the drink delicately, as if it would bite him. The man had many strange habits of the kind, his manners always seeming perfect. Though as he had gone, he gave Doryn a piercing glare, an expression of the cold malice he saved for true vampires.

Spying Kat's fangs, his fists had clenched, and a quite growl issued from deep in his throat. Yet the tail stayed his hand, the readiness to execute one of the blood-drinkers extinguished by its appearance. No vampire had a lupine or feline tail, and so he was reassured.

Riaze Nightroad froze, the scent of fresh blood overpowering that of the smoke from his cigarette. His lone eye hunted around, finally settling on Kenaji. At the sight of the vampire, his mouth curved downwards into a hateful snarl, and he rose. He begun walking with purpose towards the man, his lone eye smoldering with his murderous intent.

"Today, another of you blood-drinkers passes on, as you should have in the first place." His hands flicked slightly at Kenaji, the shadows about him leaping like claws to rip into the vampire's flesh. For Riaze was a Nightroad, one of the ancient lines. And among the old lines, came powers unlike the rest of the lycan race.

Riaze Nightroad neither turned nor flinched, simply flicking his hand backwards at Kenaji. New shadows struck from points around the bar, anything that cast a pool of darkness from the light was his weapon. Only when he had lashed out with the element that was his to command did he turn, slightly to the side to face the vampire in his new place.

Riaze' senses were honed to the point where he seemed damn near telepathic. Displacement was a skill he'd seen before among the leeches, it was nothing he couldn't handle. Idly, he wondered if this was going to be a mosquito level vampire, one that didn't even deserve the right of seeing his changed form. Judging from the weapon in hand and the magical dodge, he doubted it though.

"Who gave you the right to take the life blood from others? Who gave you the right to cheat death by becoming a monster? I only feel sorrow, that the vampire hunter missed sending you beyond with the rest of your clan."

Riaze Nightroad closed his lone eye for a moment, seeming to debate within his mind. A moment later, it opened again, almost seeing to smile where his mouth frowned. This was the Riaze that vampires saw, the ruthless killer that stopped at nothing to eradicate them. "I do insist. And you shouldn't leave your magic so unguarded, it makes it easy to steal."

Twisting his hand, he sleighted Kenaji's shadows, merely causing them to explode in balls of razored spines. His talent in the manipulation of shadows was like that of a fine artist. He knew the nuances of the darkness, and could steal them from an enemy who used brute force. A giant always fell at the hands of a subtle knife.

Not yet did Riaze make any attempt to sink into his lupine form. It was only when appearing human that he had control of the darkness, and at the moment he was loathe to relinquish that which he was obviously skilled at.

Riaze Nightroad raised an eyebrow, seeing that the shadows that had been hovering around Kenaji to begin with that he, Riaze, had put there in the first place, apparently caused no damage from their lancing spines. He shrugged, it made no matter. But his shrug became a leap, and in midair his form blurred. What descended with the finesse of a tiger and the brute force of the wolf was now his changed form.

Riaze was different from most lycans in that his changed form was an immense wolf, standing five feet at the shoulder. His fangs were massive, both eyes burning with the hatred the lone had held in his human form. Rippling black fur covered this form, the image of dark death to vampires made incarnate.

Slashing with his fangs, Riaze fell towards Kenaji with all of his bulk.

Riaze Nightroad turned slowly, growling that he had merely hit smoke and shadow. The same would not happen again. A slight gleam around his fangs came into light, the power of the lycan to rip apart the intangible and magical becoming visible. What was unnoticed was the same subtle ability now applied to his entire form, Kenaji would not find himself able to pass through Riaze with the same ease again.

Riaze uttered a long howl, the sound seeming to expand and reverberate. It was the cry of the wolves, a paralyzing note of fear to those whom the lycans hunted. With sudden abruptness he cut it off, leaping in as if he was as light as a feather to slash with his long fangs at Kenaji's right leg. It was a brute yet graceful move, connection would see the leg sliced deep, if not utterly severed.

With equal lightning quickness, the werewolf sprung back, hairs bristling menacingly as he stooped in a combat stance, growling darkly.

Riaze Nightroad slipped into the bar silently, glancing around as he quietly made his way to the counter. The most immediate thing to notice about him was that he had but a single, bloodred eye, the other covered by an eyepatch. He arrived at the bar, pausing for a moment to light up a cigarette. With a quiet voice, he spoke almost in a monotone, his expression blank and neutral. "Could I get an ale, barkeep? It would be most appreciated."

As he stood there waiting, Riaze leaned on the counter. He seemed innocuous enough, simple, loose fitting clothing, unarmed. His pale skin seemed to simply be not enough time in the sun, and he wore a beanie hat. Nothing seemed off about this man, yet there was an almost feral air around him, a hint of something unearthly and strange.

Riaze Nightroad nodded once in thanks, leaving a few gold coins on the counter as he took his drink and sauntered off to a table. The man slowly sat, taking a ginger sip of the ale, before finally expressing something other than blank emotion. He nodded appreciatively at his drink, his face showing some pleasant surprise. "Good ale. Almost reminds me of home."

Other than that, as Riaze settled in he became the masked man again, falling behind the state of distant blank emotion. His lone eye wandered about, slowly pausing on people in an almost lazy manner. But there was a sharpness to his one eyed gaze, that spoke he was in no way just looking. He was analyzing, committing details to memory. One might almost think he was hunting for someone...or something.

Riaze Nightroad sat alone, slowly nursing his drink as he merely watched. It was almost unnerving, the calm with which he exuded, the sharpness of his long stares. Only did the man himself know just what he was looking for, any hint of a vampire. For he had a feud between himself and their kind, always striking immediately upon the first sign of a leech. It all came back to a dark event in his past.

He did feel various emotions as he looked through the crowd, amusement, interest, curiosity, disgust. But all of it was hidden behind the careful mask of blankness, for Riaze was not a sociable person by nature. The man was kept his thoughts and feelings to himself, not trusting enough to demonstrate them. It was his lot in life, the way he had grown up.

Riaze Nightroad turned to regard both the Nine Sins and Black Star with a piercing gaze. Somehow, it managed to convey his disgust at such talk, yet it raised the question of how could he hear them from across the room. The man was not one for such a broad selection of people to target, he lived on a live and let live basis. Unless of course, the being in question was a vampire.

"Foolish dreams, from foolish people. Sin can never be eradicated, not through goodwill, not through violence. There is only greater evil, lesser evil, lesser good, and greater good. To tip the balance is just sheer folly." After his quiet murmuring to himself, he fell silent. It had been quite many words, from Riaze that is. He tended to keep to brief sentences, bluntly spoken. For his to speak so, something had unsettled the calm within him.

Riaze Nightroad stared at the bird, hearing the message. With startling speed, his hand lashed out and seized the bird, drawing it close. Still no emotions crossed his face. "Then you had better damn yourselves to hell's right hand. Because no one but God himself has the right to choose between live and die. Get out of here now, before I break my own code and send you to meet your so called God."

With that said, he released the bird and sat back, sipping at his ale as if nothing had happened. He stared levelly at the Nine Sins, his lone eye the only thing that betrayed the smoldering anger that he now felt. Riaze did not anger easily. When he did, dire consequences could follow.

Riaze Nightroad rose slowly, starting to walk towards the Nine Sins. His eye closed for several moments as he moved, and when it opened again it was cold. He paused several feet away from them, tilting his head slightly down as he spoke. "Then either leave and spare me your foolishness, or I shall make you spend a while sparing the rest of those around us your folly. Sin dies in one, rises in another. It is a balance that never ends, and if you are tied to it you will be wasting your eternal lives on an impossible purpose."

He hadn't made any aggressions yet, merely spoke, but it was clear that Riaze' patience was at an end. Soon, the calm that defined him would erupt, and the feral blood that ran through his veins would find its own time to experience life.

Riaze Nightroad slowly wandered into the bar, taking his time. He seemed to lazily look around with his one eye, but only if one met his gaze did they notice the sharpness with which it saw. Skin as pale as snow, and modest, loose clothing was the sum of his appearance, all in all he looked like a simple man. Yet, there was an air, feral in sense, that clung to him nonetheless.

Sauntering up to the counter, Riaze cast a final pan about himself, before leaning on the bar, rapping with his knuckles once. Never raising his voice above the quiet tone he used, he spoke. Barkeep, might I get an ale please?" With one of his hands, he placed a few gold coins on the counter, leaving nothing to chance. With his order placed and the money presented, the man took a barstool seat and waited.

Riaze Nightroad received his drink with a muttered word of thanks, slipping from the bar to take a seat at a table. The man still had not broken his appearance of calm incarnate, face carefully neutral. Taking a sip of his ale, he merely scanned about the room, looking for what, only he knew. Idly, he scratched at the hat that covered his head, once again wondering why he had to have his unusual hair. Black, with brown streaked throughout. It was infuriating sometimes.

Carefully, Riaze scanned each patron in turn with his lone eye, gaze dwelling on each. His nostrils flared on occasion, as if he were scenting the air, looking for a hint of some familiar scent. Those just looking thought him just having a quiet drink, those that questioned his actions recognized him for what he was. A hunter, but for what was something he kept to himself.

Riaze Nightroad felt his lip curl back from his teeth ever so slightly, revealing edged fangs that lined his mouth. Whatever he pretended to be, sometimes he felt it obvious he wasn't human. The irritation he felt at the seemingly small amount of vampires that frequented the establishment he'd been told was a haven was quite great. It took such extremes to make him break his quiet face. "I thought there was supposed to be a whole damn legion of the leeches here. Was I lied to?"

Riaze was a vampire hunter, a damn good one too. He didn't do it for money, or gifts, but out of his own self drive. Things in his past had driven him to this obsession with killing the blood-drinking undead, and it was one of the only things that kept him running.

His eyes had been about to move, but they caught and returned. His gaze leveled directly at Milo Rahal, and but a ghost of a smile came to his face. "Ah, a leech shows his fangs." Riaze rose, and quietly began stalking towards the man.

Riaze Nightroad paused at the bar, looking directly at Milo with his lone eye. Only by meeting it could one see the burning hatred that flowed through its bloodred color, but he was certain he hadn't been spotted. Yet. The man spoke quietly, but for once there was inflection within, a biting venom. "So, vampire. Do you know why I'm here?"

For all his poise, there were things that could pass his walls and spark his emotions. Vampire hunting was one of them, and it evoked his undying hatred. Riaze' fists were clenched at his sides, his body tense with what was to come. The hunter had found his prey.

Riaze Nightroad raised his hands up to his face, examining his palm for a moment while Milo served some girl, waiting until he was finished. The hunter was not without courtesy, he'd give the vampire one last thing to do. When he was finished serving though, then he would act. "It should be fairly obvious, vampire, what I am after. After all, my missing eye speaks worlds of motivation."

Riaze Nightroad ' flat line of a mouth turned to a scowl. Joking of the damned was one thing, but for another to question his motivation? This one would die slowly. First though, he turned, to address Quark. "Be silent or forevermore still. This does not concern you."

Tilting his head, he bared his razored teeth, betraying what he was to this vampire. Shadows seemed to bend towards him. "Why, dear leech. I've come to kill you. And if you others want to stand in my way, you'll see yourselves cut down too." Long had Riaze' senses become honed to the point of near telepathy. It just came with his obsession.

Without warning, he spun, leaping back while flinging his hands forward. The shadows he'd captured with his allure struck forward, claws of darkness to rend the undead flesh of Milo with contemptuous ease. Yet, even as he moved he was preparing for a second strike, in case the first failed.
