Set Match's Story

# Winding Path, 2011-09-24 23:31:58, as written by BBClock
Set Match was a hunter. Bonafide. He stayed to the outskirts, and knew the terrain. Perfect for trapping some creatures, making them easier targets. With a quick shot, a nearby rabbit sliding down the hill was felled, and he turned his attention to what was making all the racket.

To his sweet surprise, there was a bird. Neat, he'd simply off this one too...until he got a good look. No bird, no Human either. A mixture of both by the looks of it, and she sounded like she had a temper.

She was calling for a "George" fellow. Another possible hunter? No, if he was hunting her, she would've been fleeing him, not calling for him. He readied his bow and placed an arrow as if he were to fire, but he held. He would wait, out of sight, to see how this situation unfolded.

Set Match listened to the comedy. So the big oaf didn't know where she was. Fine by him. She was special. An exotic mixture of bird and Human, and quite beautiful to boot. He definitely had to see if she was a real deal and not a cosplayer.

With this in mind, he readied a different arrow, a tracking one. It did nothing other than poke the skin to draw marginal amounts of blood for tracking. With a quick aim, he fired the the arrow, hoping his aim was not soured.

Set Match smirked. No fleeing here. He'd have to claim his prize now. He reached into his hunter's pack and pulled out a gauze roll as he checked to see if the oaf was lost sufficiently. When he was confident that it was safe, he crawled out onto the hill, placing his bow on his back.

He was capable with hands and feet, so he easily scaled the slippery mud with little problem as he approached the Harpy and knelt beside her to check. He was clearly unfazed by her screaming, likely used to it.

Set Match continued down until he could kneel beside her.
Well, ain't you a beauty. You'll fetch a pretty penny on the market. Definitely worth more alive rather than dead, and some fool will surely like those who play rough.

With a continuing smirk at the sheer thought of cash from this, he began to bandage up the wound, making sure to leave the arrow there. His outfit he wore was for show, and hid the chainmail underneath that kept him safe from those wings.

But if she was paying attention, he also wore a lot of feathers too.

Set Match shushed her.
If you weren't so loud and whiny, I might just remove the arrow. But too bad. Your call. I do need to clean you up if I intend to take you to the market happening around Halloween. That's a month away still unfortunately, so I need to make sure you're kept around.

He'd attempt to lift her up and take her down the hill with him at this point.

Set Match was okay with taking a few scratches, and seemed to have succeeded as he lifted her into his arms and carried her down the hill. He took his time, and even once down, he slowly walked back to a rather cozy camp with a two person tent, a small fire, lots of equipment, and several cages of varying sizes from the lowly rabbit to the mighty bear.

There were also all kinds of devices that were used apparently as a last resort, or for easier cage transport.
It's because you're both a person and an animal that you'll fetch a lot of money. Some people use animals for varying things. But because you aren't 100% an animal, you'll be far more valuable. Useful in ways both an animal and Human are.

Set Match smirked as he entered his camp.
Money? You'd pay me off to let you go? Not happening. That isn't good for business or the markets, see?

He'd make his way to one of the larger cages first, the design built for bears. If she was part Human as well, he knew that Humans generally needed more space than similarly sized beings.

He went inside with her of course and placed her on the floor, leaving the arrow in her. It prevent her from moving for the most part, so he could survey her easier, checking for any deformed pieces. He also inspected to see what kind of clothing she had, if any. If she had it, it'd need to be removed before market day, as that would imply slavery, and that would get him negative rep.

Now if you aren't difficult, you'll be treated like royalty until market day at least.

Set Match cooed.
There's nothing crawling on you. Trust me. If there was, it'd be dead already because I cannot allow such a rare specimen to be damaged like that.

He reached down and flicked the arrow's stub to make it budge a bit, likely causing more pain. With this, he hoped to get her to stop moving long enough to get the clothes off of her.

I should remove these. I cannot allow them to get too terribly damaged. This is expensive fur, and expensive cloth.

Set Match looked at her with a generic face, dull and straight.
Look. I can flick that arrow again. So your call.
he stated as he waited to see her reply.

Set Match sighed and stood, his face unchanging.
So you're really that determined.

He approached her again and flicked the arrow again. He did this to animals mainly to see if they were still alive or not, but for this particular case, it was a method of allowing him to continue preparations.

Set Match knelt down and attempted to manually remove her clothing then.
Look, the less you fuss, the quicker I can get you into the luxury you so desire.
he stated firmly.

Set Match continued to fuss with her for a few moments more.
Look, make this easy on yourself.

# Winding Path, 2011-09-25 01:53:31, as written by BBClock
Set Match answered.
I suppose I do need to show you the "luxury" first then.

He stood up and turned around.
Come on, follow me.

He then exited the cage and made his way to a separate tent that was set up already.
Be glad my friend already got mauled by a bear, this tent is unused.

Set Match turned around and once more carried her to the tent, bringing her inside. It was actually rather cozy inside, and had a portable bed to boot. The tent was built for four people, so it was spacious for one person.

He'd place her on the bed and once more attempt to rid her of her articles.
You can stay in here if you're very polite.
he stated.

Set Match shook his head.
Doesn't matter. I cannot let you go on display like this.

He continued trying to force himself on her in removing the articles. She was feisty.

Set Match continued trying, making a final attempt to use his leverage and swing her arms above her, allowing him to get access.
Look, it's not everyday I find a Harpy. So why not cash in on it?

# Winding Path, 2011-09-25 02:22:11, as written by BBClock
Set Match finally did stop and instead left her there.
We'll play your way. You just stay right there then.

With that, he left the tent and went to check the fire.

# Winding Path, 2011-09-25 02:27:14, as written by BBClock
Set Match then took a seat in a small metal chair that looked entirely uncomfortable as he sat down. He opened the pot over the fire and used a ladle to check the stew inside. He was ignoring her right now?

# Winding Path, 2011-09-25 02:34:32, as written by BBClock
Set Match deemed the stew finished and put some in a bowl. A plastic bowl and spoon was all he had. It was here that he stood and entered the tent again.
Here, for the ungrateful brat whom I didn't kill, food.

He placed the bowl beside her on the small desk that was next to the bed. The desk was makeshift and could essentially be considered a block of wood chopped so it had as flat edge.

Set Match went over to her wound and grabbed the arrow, pulling it out quickly and cleanly. Of course it would hurt, but he immediately had gauze there to nurse the wound. He did spend a decent amount of time tending to it as well.
