Abilities
-
Let There Be Light: With this ability, Sonia holds her staff out in front of her and casts out a light that be blinding or even dim. When used in combat, she blinds her enemies so that she can flee from them or leave them open to an attack from a stronger ally.
Sonia Hughes came walking through the woods, several soldiers following her. "It fell out of the plane around here..." She said to them. "Are you sure, Ms. Hughes?" A soldier asked, "I am. I'll look here, the rest of you go east and west. If you don't find anything just head back to the truck." Sonia said, heading further into the woods, soon leaving the soldiers behind. "Where to look...?"
Sonia Hughes looks around for a moment, her trench coat blowing at a gust of wind. "I hate places like this... the city is the place for me..." She said to herself, looking towards the ground as she moved slowly. Obviously she was searching for something. Something that, unbeknown to her, she wouldn't find in the woods.
Sonia Hughes would grip her pants tightly as the purple Impala she rode in with Phinx whipped around corners. "Well, I'm afraid of cars now." The woman said as they came to an abrupt stop in front of Gambit's Bar. "I'm never asking some yank for a ride again..." Sonia said, unstrapping her seatbelt and getting out of the car carefully. She didn't wait for Phinx as she moved to enter the bar, prompting Phinx to let out a, "Pfft. Damn Brits."
Sonia Hughes grabs up her briefcase from the floor of the black sedan she sat in as it pulled up to Gambit's Bar. "Come on, really?" The suited Invictus soldier sitting next to her said, grabbing hold of the briefcase. "We're here for R&R, Ms. Hughes." He said to the woman, "Of course." Sonia said, she and the men in car soon climbing out and heading into the Bar. "Okay... um... what now?" Sonia asked, seeming to be directing the question towards anyone.
Here she was at Gambit's Bar. The infamous Gambit's Bar. Was it as bad as the others in the Invictus made it sound? Maybe. Maybe not. Sonia grabbed her briefcase from her car before closing the door and heading into the bar. "Not as bad as I was told." The woman said as she looked around the room and took note of the people inside. After a moment she made her way over to a table and placed her briefcase on top of it. She seemed almost lost, she wasn't sure what to do next.
Sonia Hughes nodded once, "You could say that." Sonia said to Sana, "I spend a lot of time at my office, my lab, doing work. First or second time out without... work." She said, "I probably should have asked someone to come with me. Would've help to get somethin' going on."
"Yeah... I'd rather not get into a fight." Sonia told Sana, going to her own touch-screen menu and quickly ordering a scotch. "I'm Professor Sonia Hughes, formerly of the British Empire and currently of the Invictus." She said to Sana, "I'm what many of the Invictus' soldiers would call... a civilian amongst them."
"I am." Sonia answered, turning to Isolde to get a look at the person who asked the questions. "I knew I heard a female voice but I didn't think it belonged to a young woman." She said to Isolde before answering Sana, "Very, and growing every day."
Sonia nodded a few times, standing from her seat. "Better to aim for something big than nothing at all." She said, "I would sit here and drink a bit more but I should really be going back to the lab." She said to Sana as she reached into a pocket, "I have... a card here. You can call me whenever you want. These days I have interns and assistants to do the work while I take credit for it." Sonia said with a smile, "No, I wouldn't do that. I'm a just and fair boss."
Sonia Hughes grabbed her briefcase, and her drink, as she looked to Isolde. "I do. Many. Far too many than I ever excepted to study. Lock your doors at night because a few of my... studies might be out there." The woman said with a grin before heading for the exit. "No, I'm kidding. Maybe. Be well!" Sonia added as she left the bar.
