A handy guide for all things Misranan.

Description

Recent Events and Things to Know

For the past two hundred years, Misrana had been hidden using a planetary cloaking field that kept them isolated and safe from the rest of the universe. Dominated and united by the Calidonan Supremacy, there were nearly two centuries of peace and growth. The past five years, however, the Nazuan Rebellion rose up. Not a year from the present, they took down several of the cloaking towers, and the plead of freedom took the Supremacy's full attention. The Supremacy is lead by a mighty Triumvirate.

The Triumvirate names are as follows: The Parran, Sanya, leader of military; The Kairan, Tamrou, head of law; and finally, the Alnova, Badoren, who controls the legislative branch, but also finalizes decisions made by the Kairan and Parran. Badoren's apprentice, Nadhara, oversees most religious matters, and will be the next Alnova in the event that Badoren steps down or dies.

The leader of the Nazuan Rebellion is Dasaliz Rauta. Since her first escape from Triumvira, only very few have ever seen her face or heard her voice, and follow the orders she has given her subordinates.

Currently, there is a break in the fighting, as neither the Rebellion nor the Supremacy will pull a move. There have been talks of negotiations between both sides, but it is unlikely that they will come to a conclusion. With the recent attack from the Aschen, the Invictus' visit, and Lochlyn's corporation aiding in a large battle against a ship that threatened Hera Prime, a sister planet, the Supremacy are edging toward isolation more strongly than ever before. The Rebellion refuses to allow that to happen.

Zanzaria, a rich and powerful city that allows aliens to visit, is known to be a neutral power, and does not face opposition by the Supremacy so long as they don't house terrorists.

The Misranans do not like the Aschen. Not even the Rebellion. The Aschen are just bad. Period. Always. No questions. Kill all Aschen. Seriously. They lie, they're ugly, and they smell.

Gravone is split territory between the two opposing factions. Pavo belongs to the Supremacy. Lana belongs to the Rebellion.

Trashtown is a hidden city that houses rebels.

Magic and Technology

Magic in this world is much different than it is on most planets. This is mainly because of the world itself. There is a pressure that is present at all times, keeping the intensity and effectiveness of the strange energy to a lower level, however it is not impossible to use it for its widely destructive and miraculous properties. The magic on this world is what runs everything in it. Machines are used to harvest magic, and in turn, magic fuels the machines. It is a balance that has worked well in the past, but more recently, things have been going awry. Magic is being used to the point that it becomes corrupted and becomes toxic, much like nuclear waste. This is the product of overuse, mostly because of its use in missiles and powerful bombs. In any other circumstance, the corrupt magic will cleanse itself, and becomes wild magic unless harvested once more.

Harvested magic goes into capsules, which are usually pill-shaped, varying from sizes as small as an alkaline battery to as large as ten feet long mega tanks.

Native Species of Misrana

EDITING

Humans
As normal as they can get. Humans were introduced to Misrana some three hundred years prior, most from Terra. They settled in Nahatsu, and have spread out over Misrana since.

Alula
Though long-removed cousins of the nu’unkei, the alula bear little to no resemblance in character. Lively and outspoken, their personalities can be both uplifting and overbearing. They have a wild fascination with movement, and their culture consists of many traditional dances held at festivals, which also feature fierce duels and showy acrobatics.

The alula have very feint, hard segments of bone lining the sides of their heads beneath their hair that trace back to their shared ancestry with the nu’unkei. Other than their humanoid appearance, this is where resemblance stops. Lining their backs is a protruding bone structure grown from their spine, appearing like small fans sprouting from the sides, and sprouts into a very long, thin tail tipped with a sharp flat blade. Generally, alulans are tall and thin, with very sharp and angular features. Their nails extend into small claws if they are not clipped.

Though omnivorous, alulans lean towards a more meat-filled diet, and have the teeth to show for it.

Nu'unkei
A particularly stern species, the nu’unkei admire those who are patient and strong-willed. They are known to be quiet and calculating, their demeanor often mistaken as cold and unsociable. Despite this, many nu’unkei do enjoy the presence of others, but in their own, very stoic manner.

They are characterized by the horns that sprout from their heads, which vary in size and shape among the different races; the colorful, spotted patterns upon their skin; and a curvier, shorter stature. Hair colors vary between whites, golds, and blacks, where skin colors seem to be on par with a human’s. Eye colors tend to be yellow, green, or grey rimmed with black.

A nu’unkeian diet is strictly vegetarian, without a single canine in their mouths. They also have two stomachs to digest the more difficult foods Misrana has to offer.

Ustelu
The grey and translucent-skinned aliens of Misrana. They have six limbs, one pair of which are small, delicate arms growing from their chest, the rest, also arms, used as transport to carry them from one place to another. They resemble the traditional Grey that one would see in countless sci-fi movies, with large heads, small mouths, and massive black eyes. They are highly intelligent, and some are known to have the power of telekinesis or telepathy.

Golemni
A particularly large race of humanoids upon Misrana. They are massive in every aspect that one can name. Their bodies are hefty in muscle, their personalities boisterous, and their weapons, more often than not, will cause large explosions. They are among the poorer, looked down upon people within Misrana, mostly by the Supremacy. One will rarely see one in Calidona that is not a slave.

Malemni
Cousins to the golemni, the malemni are a particularly small race of humanoids on Misrana. Their intelligence rivals that of the ustelu, though their rambunctiousness and tendency to be mischievous with their tinkering often gives them a bad reputation. There is a definite racial feud between them and the ustelu. They are in the same position as the golemni. Male and female malemni are very different from one another. Male malemni are often heavier, though are still seen as thin and small by most other counterparts. They resemble goblins, usually without the long, crooked nose and football-shaped heads, but their wide and toothy smiles are unmistakable. Female malemni are thinner, lighter, more akin to fairies. There is a hereditary gene among some of their kind that allows them to grow buglike wings as they pass puberty.

Tammroudou
A particularly strange people, the tammroudou are the largest and most inhuman of Misrana's sapient species. Though as intelligent as humans, they have been known to be ferociously territorial in the past, and like to keep to themselves. There are few, hopeful exceptions. They are normally ten to twenty feet high, and have short, flat tails and armored, plated backs that resemble what one would see on an armadillo, though they lack the ability to roll into a ball. These plates have small spiky formations. Their heads are spaded or boxy depending on the subspecies. Though they travel on four limbs, they can walk and sit on their back legs. Their front appendages are a cross between fingers and hooves, with the ability to retract the fingers so they may run without breaking them. Females tend to be larger than males, and, like hyenas, have unusually high testosterone compared to women of other races. They prefer large plains and deserts. They love to herd other animals, farm, and fight. They use a deep, guttural language filled with grunts, barks, and roars, or through seismic communication through long distances. They detect the vibrational cues through sensors in their fingertips, which carry somatosensory mechanoreceptors.

Spirits
Though they have been around for so long, very little is known about their existence. Whether they are magic entities or scientific alien life forms, it is not certain. Every native species has a history revealing that they have been there since the earliest of the ancestral logs. What is known, is that they are intelligent life forms made of varying energies. Most do not have any type of physical form, and many cannot communicate without the use of machinery. They make excellent pilots and dangerous enemies, as most physical weaponry will do nothing to damage them. They can possess certain targets and affect much of the environment around them. Some operate in a hive mind, others are completely independent to one another. Rogue and aggressive spirits are called wraith.

Language

The native language of Misrana is Misranae. I do not have, and will not create, a gigantic dictionary of Misranae words. I have a few words for you to use here and there. When indicating that your character is speaking Misranae, simply state that as such. Not many others outside of Misrana will know Misranae. Most Misranans have electronic translators that make it sound as though they are speaking the language of who they are trying to speak to, but often they get phrases, words, sentence structure, and tone confused. A person that translates is a much better option.

Misranae has several dialects that vary between species, though it is universally the same. Very few people, mostly humans, upon Misrana can speak English.

Civilian Transport

Private

Conventional Vehicles
Much like the cars and trucks that one would see anywhere else in the universe. A vehicle with four wheels. More famous for those with office jobs and families. People who work in safe and urban areas well good and plentiful roads will use cars.

Adaptable Terrain Walkers
There are many different types of ATW's, though the most notable are the adaptable terrain walker motorcycles, which can shift from being a machine with four appendages to a motorcycle with two wheels.

Sajeera
Hovering vehicles, some small enough to fit only one or two people, others enough for as many as twelve. They resemble Manta Ray in shape, with long tails and feathers that are often personalized. Though often gentle fliers, they can reach speeds of over 90 mph/144 kph. There are models which have the riders on the back of the vehicle, or inside of it.

Public

Zugaal
Long distance, underwater transport. The word literally translates to "Train Eel." The are swimming, organic trains, and they are very fast.

Menninday
Basically, airplanes. They're incredibly fast, but stable, and pleasant. They are the sky's cousin to the Zugaal, though they take a likeness to a winged reptile more than an eel.
