OOC Notes
Don't quote me on this but, it's like being at high altitude.

Life had resumed a normal, if not slow pace since her 'retirement' and return to Yellowstone. To have a culture and people that she was intimately familiar with was something of a vast relief. In many ways this may have led to her letting her guard down, but Claire knew that most wouldn't come anywhere near Yellowstone, much less Chasm City.
With the vast expanse of the city laid out below her, and her office in the Baqui office towers. In Chasm City things were built up, out of a crater from which geothermal energy to heat and power the city was produced. Despite the rest of the planet being relatively cold, Chasm City held a very warm and tropical climate from it's position within the crater and below a biological sustainment dome.

Faith Ajayi was the name on both the government-issued ID and company ID that Nawal carried. She had made the journey to Yellowstone on a Bennington-Gray owned spacecraft typically only used by the chief executive officers. Nawal had a place in the senior management, though she could never quite remember the rather long title attached to her name. She was sure it had to something with the supposed reason for her trip to Yellowstone, something involving corporate talks. But that did not matter nearly as much as the secondary purpose for her visit.
The tall, lithe Nigerian sat upright in the luxurious, well-furnished passenger cabin in the ship. The company’s owners had certainly splurged with their money invested into this particular spacecraft. She watched through the decidedly small window as the pilot approached the world, presumably hailing the control officer at the spaceport in Chasm City. Nawal was dressed in a sharp-looking black pantsuit with a white blouse and polished black heels, giving the perfect appearance of the stereotypical business executive. She adjusted the collar of her shirt, frowning for a moment before reaching into her purse and glancing at a handheld mirror before she decided that she looked sufficiently poised.
The ship shuddered as it began the descent into the planet’s gravity well. Nawal allowed herself a moment of relaxation before her task would begin.

With the city below, and the sun just beginning to reach it's zenith, Claire took a look at the time on a special bracelet that she wore. It was designed to be something of an all in one with a personal holographic projector, computer, phone, and perhaps a few other gadgets built in depending on the owner. "Your one o'clock appointment will be arriving soon Ms. Angelique." Her assistant spoke over an intercom running between the inner and outer offices. "Thank you, Sandra." Claire replied jolted out of her thoughts. So far the company had managed to maintain a fairly unblemished record with the press and public, even going as far as to open up new sectors, which in turn created jobs. Jobs were always something important she tried to tell herself, it wasn't always about her but who helped keep the company afloat.
Once the ship touched down at one of the few planet side ports, Nawal would be ushered onto an awaiting private aircraft which would take her directly into the city. Chasm City had little need for transportation such as automobiles and other such vehicles with it's precarious perch within the crater; aircraft such as helicopters were much more practical.

Nawal gave the pilot a murmur of thanks, carrying with her a slim briefcase bearing some documents from the chief executives at Bennington-Gray. She remembered Soha’s instructions before her departure from the Wing City headquarters. She slipped a small pill from her pocket, swallowing the medication for altitude sickness before wiping her fingers against her pants. It would be helpful in combating any potentially adverse consequences of the higher gravity of this world. “How long will we be?” she asked the pilot, checking her smart phone for new messages. The company had paid for inter-stellar service. Nawal was surprised, in fact, by how much money the executives were willing to invest in little things like that. She eyed the approaching crater that held the city.
OOC Notes
"We're about ten minutes or less out miss." The pilot answered as he gently eased the ship down and towards the crater.
To most who were unfamiliar with Yellowstone or even Chasm City, it was a vast, disorganized, gleaming mess of hyper diamond, titanium alloy and other metals used to fabricate a city with seemingly no zoning codes what so ever. The only thing that seemed to be easily discernible was that the new rested atop the old, and that cables for cable cars were strung from varying points within the conglomerate. But in many aspects it still appeared new, shiny, and very much so advanced for such an older 'backwater' world.
As the helicopter entered the city and landed gently atop on of the taller buildings, another person could be seen through the tinted windows waiting for them outside the craft.

Nawal felt the pressure increase on her ears, and she swallowed, trying to pop them to relieve the pressure as the helicopter descended further into the hyper-modern, seemingly disorganized city. She gripped the edge of her seat as the aircraft prepared to land atop one of the skyscrapers, but found the actual landing itself far from jarring. Nawal released her seat, rising to stand. Unsteady for a moment, a wave of dizziness passed through her before settling, allowing her to move toward the door. She’d caught sight of the woman she was to meet through the helicopter’s window. Nawal thanked the pilot again, climbing down the stairs from the helicopter onto the landing pad, allowing a small, polite smile to appear on her features.
“Faith Ajayi,” she said by way of introduction, walking toward Claire and offering her hand. “A pleasure to make your acquaintance.” It wasn’t a pleasure, not really, not in the typical sense meant by the social nicety. But then, Nawal had to maintain an image, and this time, the image was that of the immaculately professional businesswoman. She loathed it.

Grasping her hand, Claire offered a slight smile in return. "Claire Angelique." She replied trying to remind herself not to immediately start looking for the bad in this current situation. She had to admit it was odd to be contacted by a Terran company, but business worked in ways she really didn't always understand. "How was your trip here to Chasm City?" Claire questioned speaking heavily accented English. The pronunciations and choices of words so far were good, but there were times when the language boggled her. "Shall we go inside?" She continued ushering the other woman to an awaiting elevator nearby.
If Nawal had an image to maintain, then Claire had not even bothered to maintain what was familiar to most in the former Aschen Confederation, now Empire. Anti-aging treatments were unheard of on Yellowstone, although it wasn't unusual to extend one's lifespan. The woman standing next to Nawal was tall, elegant in a way, possessed of a slight military bearing, and perhaps at one time had been a great beauty when younger. Her angular features and pale skin contrasted against the other woman's darker, much more rounded features. Her choice of dress, hairstyle and apparent age all marked Claire as possibly being in her late forties. But, records indicated otherwise.

"It was uneventful," replied Nawal with an inclination of the head, "and I suppose that's a good thing. With the recent military activities, uneventful is better than 'interesting.'" She laughed a little at that, though the sound suggested it was more of a polite laughter rather than the genuine kind. "Thank you for having me, Ms. Angelique," she said, following Claire to the elevator. Everything in this city seemed to be technologically forward of the average technology available on Terra, including in the more technologically-advanced areas, except in a few pockets where corporate or government money had paid for more advanced installations, like the smartphone in Nawal's pocket.
OOC Notes
Claire nodded slightly as she punched a button for a floor or two below them. She didn't take the laughter to be genuine, it was all just social niceties that were required in business. "I suppose your right, although we don't tend to involve ourselves much with that idiocy out there." added Claire as the doors closed and the elevator began it's smooth descent down into the building from the helipad. "Though I cannot remember the last time there wasn't a war. Consequences of living in the times we do I suppose." She remarked as the elevator came to a very smooth, and sudden stop.
The doors opened out onto a lobby well furnished with pictures of ships, and a few windows looking out over the urban sprawl. The receptionist's desk was made out of a warm, glossy, yellow wood with brown accents, reflecting off a similar color scheme for the rest of the lobby. Warm, rich, comfortable hues. "This way if you would please Miss Ajayi." Claire said ushering the other woman through the lobby and into her office.

Nawal nodded, following Claire past the reception area, which she found to be tidy, simple, and pleasant. Much better than the pretentious, overly modernized and heavily furnished reception area for the Bennington-Gray headquarters. “I’m concerned with whatever will bring our company the most business and allow us to expand operations,” said Nawal, “and so can only ignore politics to such an extent. Recent events, though, have influenced the decisions the Board has been making,” she added, alluding the supposed purpose for the meeting that had been detailed during the first contact a few days ago. She eyed the pictures of ships in the lobby before they headed into Claire’s personal office.
OOC Notes
"So you are looking to expand your operations.. Baqui isn't for sale. I've held out this long against the likes of TechCon and it's ilk." Claire stated blithely seeing that the other woman wasn't very good at whatever it was she'd been sent to Yellowstone for. Opening the door to her office, she allowed Nawal to enter before closing the door behind her. There had been no lock visible or any sort of retinal scanner, one could only guess that it had something to do with the door handle itself; either it being keyed to finger prints or genetically.
Inside the room was spacious, with a large sheet of curved hyper diamond forming a window looking out onto the city behind a large and well appointed desk. Claire had chosen warmer and darker yet colors for her own office. It was filled with various star maps, scale ship replicas, what few family photos she possessed, not to mention her hard earned degrees. Real world experience had been wonderful, but sometimes the educational background was needed to back it up. "Please have a seat. I think that your Board hasn't been very forth coming with you. I can only meet you so far on this contract without knowing what exactly it is that you require. Is it a supplier? Distributor?"

Nawal spent a few moments looking at the city skyline through the window, suddenly feeling dizzy and light-headed again. She paused, inhaled sharply, closed her eyes a moment before moving carefully toward one of the seats placed for guests. “You’re right about that,” said Nawal, forcing her mind to concentrate on the meeting instead of the pending threat of a headache and nausea. “The Board isn’t forthcoming at all, and probably never has been. Bennington-Gray isn’t interested in acquisitions right now so much as creating partnerships. The COO is interested in a deal with Baqui as a supplier,” she said, reaching for the briefcase she’d brought with her, and removing a few sheets of paper detailing the offer of a deal.
“We’re interested in expanding our services to the defense sector, but we don’t have the means now to manufacture the type of products marketable in that sector,” said Nawal. “What we do have is expertise in finance, development, marketing, and government contracts.”

OOC Notes
Claire couldn't help but have her interest peaked with the announcement of a possible government contract. The defense portion of the company had been languishing in peace time affairs, trying to pull together something out of anything. Taking the sheet of papers from Nawal and quickly glanced through them, her darkly painted almond shaped nails contrasting against the white paper harshly. At the moment Claire held no sympathy for the woman and her inability to adapt to the heavy gravity on Yellowstone, the company should have informed her better; at least that's what she thought.
"While this contract seems very lucrative... I will have to have time to consider it. What is your current time frame on this offer? When are you looking to close on it?" Direct and straight to the point, Claire did not consider social niceties when it came to business. It was this attitude, or refusal to beat around bushes that had got Baqui to it's current status.

OOC Notes
“Anytime within the next month would be fine,” said Nawal. “There’s no rush to make a decision, and I’m sure the Board doesn’t want Baqui to feel rushed either. I have the rest of the details in the draft of the contract here,” she said, reaching for a thicker packet of paper held together with a binder clip, and offered it to Claire as well. “Our COO, Soha Alfarsi, prepared this draft, but it’s certainly open for further discussion and negotiation if necessary.” Nawal realized that she would need to spend as much time as possible on Yellowstone to acclimate herself to the heavy gravity before she would be able to carry out her mission. She liked this woman’s manner, though. She much preferred it to the way that Bennington-Gray’s executives spoke and handled their business.
OOC Notes
"I see..." Claire replied as she took the binder from Nawal. A month to attempt to close a new contract, that seemed rather quick to her. In so many ways she knew that something about this was wrong, but what part of the deal was sour? Frowning she flicked through the first few pages of the binder. This would be a tiring task, reading English was something she hadn't done in years, and speaking it seemed to grow ever more difficult as the years pressed on. Things had never really been the same since she'd suffered from a head injury. The sharpness seemed to be gone from the world, but she pressed on hoping things would get better in time.
Looking over at Nawal, she considered the woman and the offer she brought for a moment. She knew she needed to take contracts soon to pay for the new operations they were undertaking in the salvage sector, it hadn't paid for itself just yet unfortunately, and this seemed almost too good to be true. With the harsh, pale yellow light filtering through the windows in the office Claire turned to set the papers onto her desk. "I think... it would best to continue this another time. You're looking quite ill." She remarked turning back to the other woman, the light from the windows catching a slight chatoyance in the unusual pigment of her irises.

“Of course. If you’d like additional time to consider the proposal, I have the authority to extend the time frame currently on the table.” Nawal sat perfectly still, resisting the urge to make small gestures in an attempt to prevent the possibility of further illness from increasing or worsening. The medication she’d swallowed evidently had a fairly long period before it would take effect. Next time, she’d have to take a larger dose, or take it longer in advance. Nawal made a mental note. “I can schedule another meeting now, or we can speak over email or the phone to schedule another time, whichever would be best for you. I’ll be here for another few days.”
OOC Notes
Claire considered her options, they were both distasteful. She had a feeling she'd been going over this most recent contractual proposal with one of her lawyers as soon as she could get them into the office. "Perhaps..." She started then dug in a jacket pocket for a moment. She'd too worn a suit that day, except it wasn't nearly as severe looking as Nawal's. A well tailored grey skirt suit with a deep coral blouse, and some sort of snake skin type heels. As customary on her right lapel was a silver highly stylized angel pin. "Meet me for lunch day after tomorrow. If you'll leave me your information I'll have someone come pick you up. Chasm City is very disorienting for a non-local..."
That would at least give her enough time to figure out which way was up with these offers, and take care of some business in the mean time. Just because she put things on hold for a meeting didn't mean they would wait. "You should have acclimated by then, right?"

OOC Notes
“I’d hope so,” said Nawal with a hint of a smile again. “I’m staying in the Jaeger Hotel for the next four days, and would be happy to meet you for lunch. Thank you for sending someone; even looking through the window of the helicopter, the city seemed incredibly, er, confusing.” Inside, she was grating at the entire conversation. She didn’t like to play with social niceties of any kind, not even blunter versions of them. “I’m sure you’ll be able to have your people look over the draft contract soon as well.”
She nodded at that, encouraging Claire to examine the documents closely. They had been prepared by Bennington-Gray’s lawyers, and therefore were intended to survive legal scrutiny. After all, the proposed contract was legitimate; it was simply that Nawal’s primary purpose in this visit was not to create a business deal. She gave enough attention to the corporate function that it would lend at least a decent amount of credence to the matter. That, and the people at Bennington-Gray did not need to suspect her of ulterior motives for taking up a position within the company.

Abandoned Multiverse Characters Restored
Hey guys,
Just letting everyone know that I've gone through and found as many abandoned characters as I could and placed them back into their original creator's list of characters. There were several thousand characters who I could not determine the owner for, and as such I've placed those in the orphanage.
You're free to abandon them again if you wish!
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Multiversal GM

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Hello folks!
There's been a lot of talk lately (mostly unpleasant and misunderstanding) about the invasion and occupation of Terra plot that Barney and I have been working on for over a month and which was recently unveiled publicly (apparently?) in the Multiverse. The idea behind most roleplay usually termed "nation roleplay" or "NRP" is not to overtake or dominate a large-scale roleplay, but to enrich and provide sociological, economic, and political background to such a setting. "Nation roleplay," or roleplaying that involves nation states, de facto state entities, or state-like factions, is intended to be a breeding ground for character development, provide a backdrop for character interactions, and create multiple avenues for diverse and engaging plotlines to develop at both micro and macro levels.
In my own writing, I focus predominantly on the development of individual characters and the dynamics of interactions among those characters. I find overarching, meta-plotlines like this invasion plotline to be an excellent impetus for engendering and fostering more vibrant and compelling character interactions and new plot ideas by creating multiple sources of tension. Characters need not have any high rank or formal affiliation with a faction in order to be impacted by larger events (think of what happens to average citizens when any country goes to war), nor will they necessarily be directly affected in any significant way (think about the everyday lives of most Americans during the Iraq war.) But you, the writers and roleplayers, will have a myriad of opportunities to create, develop, and form deeper and more interesting plots to feature your character(s), given a new set of macro-circumstances.
Both Barney and I welcome and encourage anyone who is interested in active involvement in the invasion plot at any level (very active to vaguely active) in any way whatsoever to talk to either or both of us about your ideas, character(s), and plans. A large number of people have already done so, including the following people:
- krumbla -- I can't remember his idea (I'm sorry, krumbla; talk to me when I'm not sick as a dog?)
- Mr. Crow -- News media company to be formed before the invasion and to provide support to the resistance or rebels following the occupation
- curtsive -- Vigilante anti-terrorist organization to conduct terrorist operations against the occupation
- Alasund De'astio -- plays the Democratic Coalition, allies of the current (canonical to Ylanne) Terran government
- Nemo -- typically handles the military side of the Terran government, as well as Randin Kaye from the Wing City Police Department
- DemiKara -- whose character Aerilyn recently joined the Terran Intelligence Bureau
- Konstantein -- plays a daywalking vampire who will act against the occupation
- AzricanRepublic -- plays the UCON, which has a military presence near Terra and supports the TNG
- Marcus -- plays the Council, which has a vested interest in defending Terran sovereignty
- Tearen Wover -- plays VARIAtech corporation, which is offering military assets to the Terrans
And I'm certain I've forgotten someone (in which case, if that's you, I do sincerely apologize. It's one a.m. and I'm still sick.)
Barney and I have sketched out an overview of how we expect the plot to run from beginning to middle to end; however, despite the fact that both of us obviously plan on the plot following that sequence, it can change its course at any point depending on the ideas and in-character actions of any other folks who decide to get involved.
Some of the plots to occur during the invasion and occupation, both planned and still in discussion, already discussed include the following:
- Arianne Drulovic subjected to an order of indefinite detention
- Democratic Coalition rescuing Drulovic from Aschen custody
- Terran resistance kidnapping self-proclaimed God-Emperor Raphael McGregor
- Drulovic psychologically "breaking" McGregor with his estranged wife Cally
- Hataf attack against Aschen Empire holdings
- Guerrilla warfare between Democratic Coalition, UCON, and Terran forces against Aschen forces
- Taiyou attack on Aschen-controlled Terra
- Terran Independent underground dissident publication
- Jelisaveta Drulovic and family taking Natalija Drulovic's children off-world
- Rubano Malijin assuming power as regional Governor of Terra
- Public executions of political dissidents
- Internal rebellion against Aschen government by dissident Aschen leaders
I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to seek me out to talk plot, character, and ideas. Both existing and newly created characters can be involved with any plot, either existing or newly proposed by you. If you feel that this planned plotline (invasion and occupation) will unnecessarily or unfairly interrupt or alter your own plans for character or plot development, and you passionately want to retain your own plans as much as possible, please talk to me. I am very obsessive and have high levels of anxiety about maintaining the integrity and substance of my plans, so I know how you feel, and am more than happy to collaborate with you to work out something that satisfies you and makes logical sense.
If I'm not in the chat at any given time, I can be reached via private message, or by email at trealistorm (at) yahoo.com. Messages to that email address are delivered directly to my smartphone, which I check obsessively all day long, and will be read and replied to as soon as possible. (Usually within twelve hours, and sometimes within as little as ten minutes.) I want to hear your ideas and opinions (but please be polite to me; I do have feelings and am a real person over here), and I want to make sure that you don't feel like I am trampling over you or your character(s) or your plot(s).

[OOC] Taylor's Bar (Multiverse Location)
This is the official OOC thread for Taylor's Bar. I'll post staff, recent events, and other information about Taylor's here.
Taylor's Bar is a location owned by my character, Gabriel Taylor. The Bar/Hotel/Casino is extremely fortified and secured. Each entrance has a metal detector and the place is usually fully staffed with employes. Taylor handles all of his business in house and law enforcement is nearly never called. Various precautions have been set around the bar to account for the magical inhabitants of Terra and keep it's inhabitants safe.

Taylor’s Casino and Hotel Grand Opening!
Gabriel Taylor, multimillionaire and owner of Taylor’s Bar, a successful nightclub and hang out for the rich and wealthy, has moved onto his next venture; A casino and hotel. Patrons of Taylor’s bar may have noticed construction going on around back as well as various signs and posters apologizing for the inconvenience; The large tower coming up behind the bar would be rather noticeable to say the least. Last month we got a word with Gabriel Taylor’s manager and he’s said that he has big plans for this place.
“Terra’s never had a place quite like this; Gabriel’s casino will be the first. The casino is the largest in the world and it’s also the most secure. Not only won’t we be hit, but we can’t be hit. We’ve brought in security experts from around the world to devise the most advanced security system Terra has seen. We invite anyone who believes they have what it takes to try and rob us, but I won’t be responsible for your injuries or the blow to your self-esteem. Try to teleport through our walls? Have fun getting stuck inside of them. We’ve worked with various experts in the field of magic and technology to create a sort of ‘teleportation displacer’ as well as armed our guards with anti-magic grenades. Although obviously not 100 percent effective, it gets the job done.
The hotel is large and extravagant. It has everything you’d ever need, ranging from a five star restaurant to indoor pools, and a top of the line spa. Our 2nd floor hosts a large assortment of stores holding anything you can think of including the finest clothing and the newest technology. “
The casino and hotel’s grand opening is April 9th at 7 pm. The party at Taylor’s bar goes from 7 pm to 2 am, but good luck getting in. The guest list is packed and with the security at Taylor’s it’s going to be difficult sneaking in.

Re: [OOC] The Gaia Stones [IC Fantasy Event]
We have a an Official Group now. Whoohoo. I will edit some more details later on in the day due to my exhaustion.
[OOC] The Gaia Stones [IC Fantasy Event]

The Gaia Stones is a plot that I am currently GMing within The Multiverse on a planet deep within the Milky Way system where technology is not allowed and will not be able to function. The world is ruled completely by magic and magic law. The story consists of people being summoned to the planet Gaia (if they did not spawn on the planet themselves) and were brought to The Ruby Flask. They were given a task to follow a powerful mage named Ry'nn Traeger to collect stones which would unseal powerful weapons that had once been used to forge the kingdom. The purpose behind the quest beyond that remains to yet be seen.

THE WEAPONS
Skuldgrim the Slayer of Undead
Skuld was the first sword forged on the world of Gaia in the Xanaldra Forge. It is a legendary blade that has not been seen for a hundred generations. It once served Gaia when the undead were a threat to all living beings on the Mother’s soil and vanquished The Risen Horde during the age of Those Who No Longer Roam sent by Eras.
The blade of the sword is long and elegant with a pointed edge that is perfect for piercing into armor. Down its length is the engraving of Sagittae—a beautiful woman—in finely etched lines on one side and the other is the engraved representation of Atargatis—a strong and lithe man. The edges are blunt and glow with a strange red flame from enchantment. The blade and hilt are made from a very light weight and mysterious metal.
The pommel of the sword is marked with an engraving which represents the goddess Sagittae; one of the stars of Gaia and the Mother’s protector from the evil god Eras. The sheath is blood red. It is unbreakable and will never shatter.
It is a sword meant to battle the undead which roam mindlessly on Gaia; skeletons, reanimated corpses, and shades. But with all swords of power, there is a weakness. It cannot kill any living soul and may only be used on the undead.
Artrea the Healing Gauntlets
Artrea were gauntlets worn by a legendary man named Lysander Enlight. The gauntlets were hidden beneath the soil of The Exalted Mountains and were used to light the world when Eras had almost consumed his siblings. For seven turnings of Gaia had Artrea served to the be sole beacon on hope for all living things on the world.
The gauntlets are made from a mysterious metal which is completely white in color, almost as if they were made of our pearl. But they are as harder than any metal known to the current world as the knowledge died with Those Who No Longer Roam. They will light the path when light is needed most.
Glittering feathers protrude backwards and out from the wrist. The fingers are sharpened like ten deadly claws that can grip any surface short of diamonds. It is easy to scale a wall with the gauntlets. But that is not what make the weapons deadly. So sharp in fact are they, that they can pierce through most armor and can slice through human flesh like a razor through parchment. But their greatest power is the ability to touch others and heal their mortal wounds through the use of Will.
There is always a weakness that comes with weapons of great power. Those who adorn the gauntlets and use its abilities will soon find their eyesight failing on them over a long period of time. All those that have ever used them—even once—have gone blind with age. And when they are used to heal, the adorner will find themselves very drained as if their own life-force had been passed into the other in order to save their life.
Questions, suggestions, and comments should be directed here, especially when chat is busy or when I am not online or active in the chat.
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Actually if you want it as a news report, at least offically so, there is a News Thread for the Multiverse as a whole
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Sangrei's only statement was this. "Hey, I was hungover, and I got an iced tea with honey. How was I supposed to know that the bear thing was gonna come over and wreck the bar looking for goddamn honey?"
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Gambit's Bar was drained of all its honey by a mysterious yellow bear!

Unfortunately, Wing City police did not know this and were left in confusion to find only a yellow teddy bear with a red shirt at the scene of the crime.
The only customer under record who had ordered a glass of honey that day was a Sangrei Friedn. Responsibility for the bill and possibly the stolen stock of honey have yet to be decided. Police still find Friedn a suspect.

HAHAHAHAHA. The conclusion isn't coming til closer to the summer. Frequency of activity and times when the folks who are involved currently has dropped quite a bit for a variety of reasons, and I don't anticipate the conclusion to Family Pictures for a bit. That said, for those who pay attention to the faction-side of things, the announcement that elections have taken place for the Terran National Government will be posted soonish (i.e. within the next two weeks insh'Allah.)
Those who might be expecting me for roleplay, I will have no internet access this Thursday through Sunday this week except from my phone or if I can access someone else's computer with internet access. You will only be able to reliably reach me via email, which goes to my phone. If you don't have mine, any staff member does, as would anyone who regularly roleplays with me. Thanks!
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
There's no real procedure to get "started" in the Multiverse. The hub of activity is generally Gambit's Bar, but you can grab a roleplay partner and head anywhere. The sky's the limit!
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
I'm new here, and I just made my first character. How do I get started in the multiverse? I'd like to stick mostly to Terra to keep as close to my character's home as possible, but if I have to move, I will.
If you want to check out my character, go to roleplay/the-multiverse/characters/lorenzo-caracciolo
By the way, that is not near my real name, so don't worry.

You can create and play anything that you like in the Multiverse. There is no acceptance or review of characters, just create the character and start RPing!

Hello folks! I'm currently maybe two-thirds of the way through the planned Family Pictures sequence, which can be read here, and am posting one last announcement looking for folks who might still want to become part of that. There are opportunities! They abound, in fact! (Yes, I was looking for an excuse to use the word "abound" in an internet forum post. I successfully created one.) Re: The Multiverse: Where Do We Go?
Um. Okay. Bear with me. I read through what posts I saw, and took note on things that were said to the best of my ability. Here's where I stand on the Multiverse, where the Multiverse is to me, and yeah. I guess.
I agree that there needs to be a set baseline. For instance, the name of the bar. The name of the world that the bar is on. The name of cities, nearby things like that. There can be a set system of government, the Wing City Police Department, but their "jurisdiction" only stretches so far. Some of the most interesting roleplay I've seen/participated in has involved characters coming from other worlds and having to either deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.
Alternately, some of the worst and most frustrating MV roleplaying I've seen has been .. involving characters coming from other worlds and having to deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.
I've always seen the MV as a hallways connecting various rooms. The rooms are your own story, your own ideas, your own canon, your own characters; it's where your friends gather and you control things. When you're out in that hall, however, all bets are off. That isn't to say you can pull things out of your ass, but you accept and understand a certain amount of handicap.
For instance, my character Liesha Kennicot is a Special Agent in the United States government, from her Earth. She's aware that there are other Earths, and that she doesn't had any control when in the MV. That's fine. However, when someone else walks up to her and starts trying to give her orders claiming that their faction has taken over mine without a single bit of IC content, that's when things start to go awry.
Reading back over the original post, it seems that the Multiverse has as much substance as you give it. It's a sandbox location where you can freely interact with new characters that you might not get a chance to. For a while, I used the MV as a way to try and test out ideas with people before making a roleplay out of it. You get your circles of friends (as Patch mentioned, his crew of eight) and you go at it. Sometimes you meet in the middle, and sometimes you don't.
And at the risk of ranting, that is all I have to say about that.
