OOC Notes
The cove, though discreetly concealed from view by geography and simply its lack of proximity to any nearby settlements, was a bustling hive of activity. Up and down the ship yard were a dozen vessels in various states of completion with workers hard at work carrying lumber to and fro, sanding and sawing beams down. The whole process seemed rather chaotic and yet it had a sort of rhythm to it.
It was a rhythm that R'muel could stand and watch for hours. The diligence, the care, the soul that went into these ships was almost an almost tangible thing, and each work was a matter of pride. Though no pride was greater than his own ship, The Ever Rest.
Sweeping his gaze away, there she rested, grounded down by the shore while the crew were busy at work with last minute preparations. She was a low built vessel of an older design, but one of which R'muel much preferred to the newer models you could get off the line these days. Its construction more closely matched the ships of old, with her twin masts and sleek hull. However, she made a name for herself, ranking well into the top fastest ships in the area, not to mention her maneuverability. The only thing keeping her from claiming that title was her bulk. Though lithely built, she had the heft and weapons of a mercenary war vessel. It was the perfect balance of nimbleness and constitution R'muel thought proudly to himself.
“Head in the clouds again?” M'reth inquired as she moved to stand beside her brother.
He had let his mind wander from the matter at hand R'muel realized. Dotting the vicinity of the hidden cove, half a dozen other ships had turned out today, just as busy as his own in getting supplies inventoried and moved on board. Amongst them were two ships he had never flown with before. But that would change soon enough. Already some of the Captain's had come ashore to mill about and shoot the breeze.
“You know me, M'reth, always thinking. I don't like this though, there's a storm coming in from the east, and we'll be caught in open air when it hits. We should have waited the week out,” he said with a grimace.
He had strongly advocated in favor of delaying this venture, but too many young upstarts had turned out - eager to make a name for themselves, and all loath to wait while the sun shone high and the skies were clear. But R'muel knew how quickly that could change.
“I know, but we've flown through worse before. It'll be fine,” M'reth offered in reassurance.
“Yeah, you're probably right. Come on, we should find Br'nn. We'll be setting sail within the hour, and I haven't seen him all morning,” R'muel replied.

Kate was sulking to the side, and armed like a tank. The reason for her sulking? Boredom. None of this preparation stuff was very piratey. She needed to get in the air. Feel the wind in her hair. It took all her restraint to remain sulking rather than starting a drinking competition, arm wrestle or fight. But she was determined to show how good of a pirate she could be to all the nay-sayers. She was willing to bet half of them weren't even pirates for the sake of being pirates!
Still, like always, she was armed to the teeth.
Strapped to her back was both hand cannon and blunderbuss, both within easy reach should she need them, either from over the shoulder or from at her waist. At her right side she had a flintlock pistol, a total of two shots ready to be fired at a moments notice, and a grapple gun. Likewise, she had her lucky rapier and a cutlass were both on her left, also ready to be drawn for combat. Finally, concealed as always, were her arm spikes.
She may have had no ship, no crew, no alcohol, no money and no real rep amongst other pirates, but she was about as crazy prepared as you got.
"What kinda name is 'Everest' anyway?" she muttered unhappily as she wandered towards the ship. A mock salute was offered towards M'reth, accompanied by, "Cap'n," which was said with a genuine tone of respect. Mentally, she braced herself, readying for the insults and pissing contests she knew would come on this trip, most likely with everyone telling Kate how they are better and no one proving it. Well, if they were afraid of dragons, by the end of this trip she would make dragons afraid of her.
That kind of had a ring to it.
Kate Darkrayne. Dragon Slayer.

Kvan hovered along the gleaming side of his ship, the Skychild. The simple metal ship hung in the air, connected by a staircase to the ground and a gangway to the cargo hold up top. He chuckled as he watched several burly men load his ship full of goods—both legal and not—in preparation for the trip they'd been getting prepared to take. He'd planned on simply running the trip empty, just to see if he could do it, but he figured that he might make a bit of money while he was at it.
Looking down the docks he saw The Ever Rest, impressed by how such an old-looking ship was still in such good condition. He understood now why the rumors surrounding that ship were so wild, but he couldn't help but wonder how it would stand up against dragons. Then again, they'd done this trip six times prior, and he hadn't.
The sky-pirate turned back to his own ship, a more refined and elegant ship that originally belonged to an ambassador. He'd managed to get inside and take off with it, though, and since then it had been loyal to him through many random, though not terribly dangerous, voyages. The Skychild was built to be nimble in the sky, but it was also built to look good doing so. She had a pair of vertical stabilizing fins and six propellers keeping her aloft, though only two were running just then, and despite the original use of the ship, she'd been designed to haul cargo.
Whether that cargo was legal or not...Well, that all depended on how easy Kvan was on money.
The young man looked back across the moorings, figuring he'd at least go and speak to the other captains before departure. Who knew, maybe he'd even catch some good advice about the run while he was at it.
“Kvan,” Norma called out while walking towards the skypirate with a little haste in her step, “You don’t have a—a chest of some kind do you? I need something about this big,” she said while holding her hands apart at about shoulder width. There was an odd look in her eyes and the Promethean had been a bit secretive lately. She had a secret but what that secret was, Norma was not going to tell anyone just yet.
Her eyes caught something large out of the corner of her eye and the woman turned to look at it. “Is that the The Ever Rest, you’ve been talking about, Kvan,” Norma asked. It suddenly did not seem like a good idea to be going on this trip or “run” as they called it.

M'reth jabbed her thumb in the direction of R'muel. “R'muel is the Captain, not me,” M'reth corrected with a light chuckle.
R'muel meanwhile didn't seem troubled by the confusion and he was amiable enough as he answered Kate's inquiry into his ship's name. “Now that's a question. Think about it a while,” he replied with a wink. “Come, I'll introduce you to the crew once we're on board. It's not often we have a Captain ship out with us,” he continued. There was no trace of contempt or abonishment in his tone nor implication of haughtiness or superiority in his demeanor. In stark contrast to Kate's expectations, R'muel seemed at ease and welcome to have Kate aboard.
While the trio conversed, a hardly looking middle aged man garbed in neutral shades of browns and greens waved the group down as he jogged his way over. Unlike most of crew, Dryden didn't really look the part of a pirate or a mercenary. Standing amidst R'muel, M'reth and Kate, he was definitely the odd one out.
“Captain, Br'nn's uncle has fallen ill. They're taking him to Solinus City,” Dryden explained.
R'muel frowned. The news furthered his concern of the voyage. His instincts told him they should delay, and being struck with bad luck before they even left port wasn't helping to sway his thoughts on the matter. However, the decision had already been made and so he simply nodded. “Very well, inform the crew that we will be sailing without him, and then find Rhoe to take Br'nn's place for the voyage.”
Even as R'muel was giving off instructions, Jibar approached the group next. He was a squat looking man with more heft than height and skin so weather worn as to look leathery. He bore a jovial demeanor of the likes that made him at home in any crowd or port. “Captain, the boys are loading the last of the food as we speak. Say the word and we'll be set to sail.”
“Good. Good. Tell them we'll be departing in twenty minutes,” R'muel replied.
“Aye aye Captain.”
As Jibar jogged off at a waddle, and Dryden bowed out of the discussion to locate Rhoe, M'reth was waving down Kvan and Norma who had made their way down to the beach.
“Glad you could make it,” M'reth called loudly to the approaching pair.
Meanwhile with a bold assertiveness that exhibited his experience, R'muel strode forward with an inviting grin to meet Kvan with a firm handshake. “Greetings, greetings. M'reth has told me about you two. Kvan was it?” he asked. “I'm afraid I didn't catch your name though,” he added to Norma before offering an equally firm hand in greeting. “I'm R'muel, Captain of the Ever Rest and I'll be heading this voyage. These as you probably already know are my sister M'reth, and Captain Kate Darkrayne,” he added with a gesture to indicate the pair in turn.

"M'no cap'n," Kate answered, "Not til' I 'ave a ship'n crew again. 'Til then m'just Kate." It was a simple enough and surprisingly humble answer. But then, this wasn't the first time Kate had stopped being a captain. She flipped in and out of owning crews and ships frequently. No matter! Her eyes weighed up Kvan and with a snort she turned her head away. He wasn't going to give him the chance.
An elbow was nudged towards M'reth, who she hung close to, "M'gonna go check over the ship. Gimme a shout when we're takin' off." And with that, she headed for the Ever Rest, no doubt seeking alcohol or a hammock. "I'll let you cap'n types sort out all the un-piratey rules yer look like yer 'bout to put in place."

Kvan chuckled as Norma asked him if he had a chest for her. He looked back across at the ships still tied in preparation for leaving.
"Norma, you should have one in your cabin and, if you don't, you can use the one in mine. I'm gonna go see how much longer till we're off." He nodded and floated off down the wharf, his toes just inches above the stones.
He shook R'muel's hand just as firmly before glancing back at his ship out of habit.
"Aye, Kvan's the name. Though if you'd like you free to call me Captain Skyheart as well. By your reckoning. I only wonder how much longer we have before we shove off." He relaxed back a bit, resting on currents of air he summoned from beneath him, keeping him buoyant and content.

Norma had made her way down to meet the others that Kvan was running alongside. The promethean stayed relevantly quiet during the whole ordeal until R’muel took her hand and gave it a firm shake. Norma winced but a smile flared on her face as was custom in meeting someone.
“Norma and it is lovely to meet all of you,” she replied while looking M’reth, R’muel, and Kate over. Her expression fell then and the woman hugged herself while looking about. This wasn’t the place for her and she was realizing it fast. And yet, the promethean kept to her word as they always did. She wasn’t going to run from this challenge she had undertaken herself. She didn’t want to return to her family.
Instead, Norma gave a small wave to M’reth whom she recognized and then slipped a hand into her own pocket. Norma was making sure that her trinket was still there. Even if in an uncomfortable situation, the promethean was still wary of being around pirates and thieves.
Norma’s eyes scanned over the Ever Rest and then over those in company before wondering to herself. Maybe it was time to change her appearance once again in order to fit in better.
A shimmer of light passed down her body and Norma pieced together an outward appearance. Her skin darkened in a sun-kissed tan but retained an olive tone. Her blond hair stained into a harsh brunette while trinkets and beads formed in the strands. Even her clothing reformed itself to better fit in with the group, changing into various leather layers mixed with crimson cottons.
The only thing that couldn’t be adjusted was Norma’s attitude.
“I guess I will go find something to do,” she said while her eyes hung on the ground as if she were waiting for someone to give her a task to complete. Norma honestly had no idea what to do.
She was lost.

It was almost morning and the sun was not out yet. Roan was lying in his bed roll, waiting. He had packed a few things the night before. He knew what he was doing and knew he had to come light. He only packed his Dragonology book and his Terra Bestiary. He also had a pocket knife in case he needed to use it. He touched the surface of an amulet, given to him by his mother.
Roan looked out the window. It was starting to become lighter outside. He thought to himself; Now is the time. Now, or never. He quietly grabbed his knapsack, opened his window, and climbed out. He started to walk toward the shore, toward the Ever Rest.
The Ever Rest was the best known ship in the port. That was the reason he chose it. He knew that if he wanted adventure, that was the ship to be on.
Roan arrived at one of the Ever Rest’s rope ladders. He knew his climbing capabilities and climbed the ladder quickly and silently. He came to the top of the ladder and soundlessly climbed onto the deck. He noticed a few sailors on deck, sleeping while on watch. He smiled, knowing that they would do just that. He then snuck below deck into the cargo hold. This was where he was going to stow away. It was perfect, with lots of places to stay hidden.

“Captain Skyheart it is,” Ramuel replied to Kvan. “And it won't be long now. They're loading the last of the supplies on board as we speak. We'll be pushing off in about ten minutes here. Come on, we can go over the coordinates on our way down to the shore. It's a two week voyage - provided we don't run into any complications.”
As the duo of Captain's made their way back down to their respective ships, the day looked bright indeed. The morning sun cast a warmth over the cove and an azure sparkle across the ocean water. Overhead not a cloud dotted the sky and the cool breeze promised good flying weather.
So why was he so concerned? M'reth was probably right, there was nothing to worry about.

Abandoned Multiverse Characters Restored
Hey guys,
Just letting everyone know that I've gone through and found as many abandoned characters as I could and placed them back into their original creator's list of characters. There were several thousand characters who I could not determine the owner for, and as such I've placed those in the orphanage.
You're free to abandon them again if you wish!
Sincerely,
Your Friendly Multiversal GM

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Hello folks!
There's been a lot of talk lately (mostly unpleasant and misunderstanding) about the invasion and occupation of Terra plot that Barney and I have been working on for over a month and which was recently unveiled publicly (apparently?) in the Multiverse. The idea behind most roleplay usually termed "nation roleplay" or "NRP" is not to overtake or dominate a large-scale roleplay, but to enrich and provide sociological, economic, and political background to such a setting. "Nation roleplay," or roleplaying that involves nation states, de facto state entities, or state-like factions, is intended to be a breeding ground for character development, provide a backdrop for character interactions, and create multiple avenues for diverse and engaging plotlines to develop at both micro and macro levels.
In my own writing, I focus predominantly on the development of individual characters and the dynamics of interactions among those characters. I find overarching, meta-plotlines like this invasion plotline to be an excellent impetus for engendering and fostering more vibrant and compelling character interactions and new plot ideas by creating multiple sources of tension. Characters need not have any high rank or formal affiliation with a faction in order to be impacted by larger events (think of what happens to average citizens when any country goes to war), nor will they necessarily be directly affected in any significant way (think about the everyday lives of most Americans during the Iraq war.) But you, the writers and roleplayers, will have a myriad of opportunities to create, develop, and form deeper and more interesting plots to feature your character(s), given a new set of macro-circumstances.
Both Barney and I welcome and encourage anyone who is interested in active involvement in the invasion plot at any level (very active to vaguely active) in any way whatsoever to talk to either or both of us about your ideas, character(s), and plans. A large number of people have already done so, including the following people:
- krumbla -- I can't remember his idea (I'm sorry, krumbla; talk to me when I'm not sick as a dog?)
- Mr. Crow -- News media company to be formed before the invasion and to provide support to the resistance or rebels following the occupation
- curtsive -- Vigilante anti-terrorist organization to conduct terrorist operations against the occupation
- Alasund De'astio -- plays the Democratic Coalition, allies of the current (canonical to Ylanne) Terran government
- Nemo -- typically handles the military side of the Terran government, as well as Randin Kaye from the Wing City Police Department
- DemiKara -- whose character Aerilyn recently joined the Terran Intelligence Bureau
- Konstantein -- plays a daywalking vampire who will act against the occupation
- AzricanRepublic -- plays the UCON, which has a military presence near Terra and supports the TNG
- Marcus -- plays the Council, which has a vested interest in defending Terran sovereignty
- Tearen Wover -- plays VARIAtech corporation, which is offering military assets to the Terrans
And I'm certain I've forgotten someone (in which case, if that's you, I do sincerely apologize. It's one a.m. and I'm still sick.)
Barney and I have sketched out an overview of how we expect the plot to run from beginning to middle to end; however, despite the fact that both of us obviously plan on the plot following that sequence, it can change its course at any point depending on the ideas and in-character actions of any other folks who decide to get involved.
Some of the plots to occur during the invasion and occupation, both planned and still in discussion, already discussed include the following:
- Arianne Drulovic subjected to an order of indefinite detention
- Democratic Coalition rescuing Drulovic from Aschen custody
- Terran resistance kidnapping self-proclaimed God-Emperor Raphael McGregor
- Drulovic psychologically "breaking" McGregor with his estranged wife Cally
- Hataf attack against Aschen Empire holdings
- Guerrilla warfare between Democratic Coalition, UCON, and Terran forces against Aschen forces
- Taiyou attack on Aschen-controlled Terra
- Terran Independent underground dissident publication
- Jelisaveta Drulovic and family taking Natalija Drulovic's children off-world
- Rubano Malijin assuming power as regional Governor of Terra
- Public executions of political dissidents
- Internal rebellion against Aschen government by dissident Aschen leaders
I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to seek me out to talk plot, character, and ideas. Both existing and newly created characters can be involved with any plot, either existing or newly proposed by you. If you feel that this planned plotline (invasion and occupation) will unnecessarily or unfairly interrupt or alter your own plans for character or plot development, and you passionately want to retain your own plans as much as possible, please talk to me. I am very obsessive and have high levels of anxiety about maintaining the integrity and substance of my plans, so I know how you feel, and am more than happy to collaborate with you to work out something that satisfies you and makes logical sense.
If I'm not in the chat at any given time, I can be reached via private message, or by email at trealistorm (at) yahoo.com. Messages to that email address are delivered directly to my smartphone, which I check obsessively all day long, and will be read and replied to as soon as possible. (Usually within twelve hours, and sometimes within as little as ten minutes.) I want to hear your ideas and opinions (but please be polite to me; I do have feelings and am a real person over here), and I want to make sure that you don't feel like I am trampling over you or your character(s) or your plot(s).

[OOC] Taylor's Bar (Multiverse Location)
This is the official OOC thread for Taylor's Bar. I'll post staff, recent events, and other information about Taylor's here.
Taylor's Bar is a location owned by my character, Gabriel Taylor. The Bar/Hotel/Casino is extremely fortified and secured. Each entrance has a metal detector and the place is usually fully staffed with employes. Taylor handles all of his business in house and law enforcement is nearly never called. Various precautions have been set around the bar to account for the magical inhabitants of Terra and keep it's inhabitants safe.

Taylor’s Casino and Hotel Grand Opening!
Gabriel Taylor, multimillionaire and owner of Taylor’s Bar, a successful nightclub and hang out for the rich and wealthy, has moved onto his next venture; A casino and hotel. Patrons of Taylor’s bar may have noticed construction going on around back as well as various signs and posters apologizing for the inconvenience; The large tower coming up behind the bar would be rather noticeable to say the least. Last month we got a word with Gabriel Taylor’s manager and he’s said that he has big plans for this place.
“Terra’s never had a place quite like this; Gabriel’s casino will be the first. The casino is the largest in the world and it’s also the most secure. Not only won’t we be hit, but we can’t be hit. We’ve brought in security experts from around the world to devise the most advanced security system Terra has seen. We invite anyone who believes they have what it takes to try and rob us, but I won’t be responsible for your injuries or the blow to your self-esteem. Try to teleport through our walls? Have fun getting stuck inside of them. We’ve worked with various experts in the field of magic and technology to create a sort of ‘teleportation displacer’ as well as armed our guards with anti-magic grenades. Although obviously not 100 percent effective, it gets the job done.
The hotel is large and extravagant. It has everything you’d ever need, ranging from a five star restaurant to indoor pools, and a top of the line spa. Our 2nd floor hosts a large assortment of stores holding anything you can think of including the finest clothing and the newest technology. “
The casino and hotel’s grand opening is April 9th at 7 pm. The party at Taylor’s bar goes from 7 pm to 2 am, but good luck getting in. The guest list is packed and with the security at Taylor’s it’s going to be difficult sneaking in.

Re: [OOC] The Gaia Stones [IC Fantasy Event]
We have a an Official Group now. Whoohoo. I will edit some more details later on in the day due to my exhaustion.
[OOC] The Gaia Stones [IC Fantasy Event]

The Gaia Stones is a plot that I am currently GMing within The Multiverse on a planet deep within the Milky Way system where technology is not allowed and will not be able to function. The world is ruled completely by magic and magic law. The story consists of people being summoned to the planet Gaia (if they did not spawn on the planet themselves) and were brought to The Ruby Flask. They were given a task to follow a powerful mage named Ry'nn Traeger to collect stones which would unseal powerful weapons that had once been used to forge the kingdom. The purpose behind the quest beyond that remains to yet be seen.

THE WEAPONS
Skuldgrim the Slayer of Undead
Skuld was the first sword forged on the world of Gaia in the Xanaldra Forge. It is a legendary blade that has not been seen for a hundred generations. It once served Gaia when the undead were a threat to all living beings on the Mother’s soil and vanquished The Risen Horde during the age of Those Who No Longer Roam sent by Eras.
The blade of the sword is long and elegant with a pointed edge that is perfect for piercing into armor. Down its length is the engraving of Sagittae—a beautiful woman—in finely etched lines on one side and the other is the engraved representation of Atargatis—a strong and lithe man. The edges are blunt and glow with a strange red flame from enchantment. The blade and hilt are made from a very light weight and mysterious metal.
The pommel of the sword is marked with an engraving which represents the goddess Sagittae; one of the stars of Gaia and the Mother’s protector from the evil god Eras. The sheath is blood red. It is unbreakable and will never shatter.
It is a sword meant to battle the undead which roam mindlessly on Gaia; skeletons, reanimated corpses, and shades. But with all swords of power, there is a weakness. It cannot kill any living soul and may only be used on the undead.
Artrea the Healing Gauntlets
Artrea were gauntlets worn by a legendary man named Lysander Enlight. The gauntlets were hidden beneath the soil of The Exalted Mountains and were used to light the world when Eras had almost consumed his siblings. For seven turnings of Gaia had Artrea served to the be sole beacon on hope for all living things on the world.
The gauntlets are made from a mysterious metal which is completely white in color, almost as if they were made of our pearl. But they are as harder than any metal known to the current world as the knowledge died with Those Who No Longer Roam. They will light the path when light is needed most.
Glittering feathers protrude backwards and out from the wrist. The fingers are sharpened like ten deadly claws that can grip any surface short of diamonds. It is easy to scale a wall with the gauntlets. But that is not what make the weapons deadly. So sharp in fact are they, that they can pierce through most armor and can slice through human flesh like a razor through parchment. But their greatest power is the ability to touch others and heal their mortal wounds through the use of Will.
There is always a weakness that comes with weapons of great power. Those who adorn the gauntlets and use its abilities will soon find their eyesight failing on them over a long period of time. All those that have ever used them—even once—have gone blind with age. And when they are used to heal, the adorner will find themselves very drained as if their own life-force had been passed into the other in order to save their life.
Questions, suggestions, and comments should be directed here, especially when chat is busy or when I am not online or active in the chat.
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Actually if you want it as a news report, at least offically so, there is a News Thread for the Multiverse as a whole
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Sangrei's only statement was this. "Hey, I was hungover, and I got an iced tea with honey. How was I supposed to know that the bear thing was gonna come over and wreck the bar looking for goddamn honey?"
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
Gambit's Bar was drained of all its honey by a mysterious yellow bear!

Unfortunately, Wing City police did not know this and were left in confusion to find only a yellow teddy bear with a red shirt at the scene of the crime.
The only customer under record who had ordered a glass of honey that day was a Sangrei Friedn. Responsibility for the bill and possibly the stolen stock of honey have yet to be decided. Police still find Friedn a suspect.

HAHAHAHAHA. The conclusion isn't coming til closer to the summer. Frequency of activity and times when the folks who are involved currently has dropped quite a bit for a variety of reasons, and I don't anticipate the conclusion to Family Pictures for a bit. That said, for those who pay attention to the faction-side of things, the announcement that elections have taken place for the Terran National Government will be posted soonish (i.e. within the next two weeks insh'Allah.)
Those who might be expecting me for roleplay, I will have no internet access this Thursday through Sunday this week except from my phone or if I can access someone else's computer with internet access. You will only be able to reliably reach me via email, which goes to my phone. If you don't have mine, any staff member does, as would anyone who regularly roleplays with me. Thanks!
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
There's no real procedure to get "started" in the Multiverse. The hub of activity is generally Gambit's Bar, but you can grab a roleplay partner and head anywhere. The sky's the limit!
Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread
I'm new here, and I just made my first character. How do I get started in the multiverse? I'd like to stick mostly to Terra to keep as close to my character's home as possible, but if I have to move, I will.
If you want to check out my character, go to roleplay/the-multiverse/characters/lorenzo-caracciolo
By the way, that is not near my real name, so don't worry.

You can create and play anything that you like in the Multiverse. There is no acceptance or review of characters, just create the character and start RPing!

Hello folks! I'm currently maybe two-thirds of the way through the planned Family Pictures sequence, which can be read here, and am posting one last announcement looking for folks who might still want to become part of that. Re: The Multiverse: Where Do We Go?
Um. Okay. Bear with me. I read through what posts I saw, and took note on things that were said to the best of my ability. Here's where I stand on the Multiverse, where the Multiverse is to me, and yeah. I guess.
I agree that there needs to be a set baseline. For instance, the name of the bar. The name of the world that the bar is on. The name of cities, nearby things like that. There can be a set system of government, the Wing City Police Department, but their "jurisdiction" only stretches so far. Some of the most interesting roleplay I've seen/participated in has involved characters coming from other worlds and having to either deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.
Alternately, some of the worst and most frustrating MV roleplaying I've seen has been .. involving characters coming from other worlds and having to deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.
I've always seen the MV as a hallways connecting various rooms. The rooms are your own story, your own ideas, your own canon, your own characters; it's where your friends gather and you control things. When you're out in that hall, however, all bets are off. That isn't to say you can pull things out of your ass, but you accept and understand a certain amount of handicap.
For instance, my character Liesha Kennicot is a Special Agent in the United States government, from her Earth. She's aware that there are other Earths, and that she doesn't had any control when in the MV. That's fine. However, when someone else walks up to her and starts trying to give her orders claiming that their faction has taken over mine without a single bit of IC content, that's when things start to go awry.
Reading back over the original post, it seems that the Multiverse has as much substance as you give it. It's a sandbox location where you can freely interact with new characters that you might not get a chance to. For a while, I used the MV as a way to try and test out ideas with people before making a roleplay out of it. You get your circles of friends (as Patch mentioned, his crew of eight) and you go at it. Sometimes you meet in the middle, and sometimes you don't.
And at the risk of ranting, that is all I have to say about that.
