The temple proper stands in direct juxtaposition to the humble facade of the temple entrance. The walls are lined with black marble columns and intricately carved scrollwork while the floors are tiled in black granite with varying runic symbols etched in gold leaf. Lining the walls between the columns stand tall statues of gods and goddesses long forgotten and at the base of each statue resides a small altar. For lighting extravagantly adorned candelabras ring the room. Further passageways open out from either wall of the room, though the east tunnel is collapsed and impassable.

Whisper stood quietly in the altar room letting the silence fill the vast chamber. She hadn't said a word to Messor since Mephit's departure, and she looked rather like she had seen a ghost, or in this case felt one. She felt sick inside, and she couldn't shake the building anxiety within the pit of her stomach.

She heard Messor before she felt him, descending into the temple after her. The cavernous stone walls served to amplify the smallest sounds and his footsteps echoed loudly. She should speak to him she thought, but she couldn't find the words to do so. Mephit's appearance and his claims had blind sided her. The only thing she could be certain of was that things were about to change, for better or for worse.

She turned away from the entrance of the temple, hands resting atop the stone altar as she bowed her head in thought. She wasn't a pointedly religious person, but if there was ever a time for prayers it would have been now. But these forgotten statues of deities long gone were little more than stone. She would find no answers there.

Messor slowly strode down the stairs, thoughts and emotions a roiling storm within him. He'd been so close to destroying Mephit out of hand, and then...

The hybrid needed time to think on what had been said, but more than that needed to speak of it with Whisper. He wanted her thoughts on it all, since it was only possible with both of them. He took a breath before descending the last step.

Messor opened his mouth, about to speak, then closed it again. How to put his thoughts into words, without sounding like the selfish child begging for his own way? Trying again, he spoke quietly.

"Whisper, I..."

The hybrid seemed to wilt into himself, hands curling into tight fists. A curse of immortality spent alone, was never knowing how to truly express his own emotions. He looked about the room, staring through the walls as he fought to say his mind.

“Don't ask me to do it, I cannot,” Whisper replied as she swallowed hard. Taking a deep breath her fingers curled against the hardened stoned beneath her palms. “You asked me what I feared. Now you know.”

Her words sent a pang of guilt through Whisper. Even with the long period of separation from Nyx's influence, some ties were not easily broken. She wanted her back, just the same as Messor, and no amount of logic would ever rid her of that. Nor would it rid her of the guilt and sense of betrayal instilled in her to refuse her aid on this matter, to Messor and Nyx both.

Messor felt something within him crack, hearing Whisper's words. All that he'd denied, all he'd tried to run from descended on him at once. His knees buckled, but he refused to fall. Staff whirled from his back to slam into the stone, pride still stronger than despair. His words, when he could finally speak, were barely enough to carry to her ears.

"So I do. And that fear, it keeps her dead. Gone." A broken laugh escaped him. Messor stared at the floor, held upright only by a death grip on his staff. For once, he felt none of the dragon's rage, or the elf's cold indifference. He just felt himself, broken creature cast aside but unable to be left alone.

"So that's it? Fear." Another broken laugh.

“Messor...” Whisper began before stopping. What could she possibly say to him to justify her actions, her words. As Messor's immortality was a curse to him, Whisper's empathy was in turn a curse of her own. She couldn't simply disregard the result her words had, not when she could feel it as if it was her own.

“You don't know the things she did to me, but even that isn't what stays my hand. I would have given her anything, done anything for her. I would have driven a knife into my own chest and died for her, if she had but asked for it. I could not tell friend from foe any any longer, they were meaningless concepts. If I aided you in this, what would become of me? Would I become a shadow, a shell to her will once more? It seems strange that I, a mere fragment of Whisper, should fear the loss of identity and self more than anything. I fear the things I would do if they were taken from me.”

Messor raised his head, lambent eyes blinking slowly. He could not deny her words, but he had knowledge of a change. Something Whisper would not, could not know, for to find it one had to enter the grave...and return.

"Nyx was not always what she was. Before the...Orsa," The hybrid spat the word as though it were foul. "She was simply a succubus. My friend. The Orsa changed that."

He remembered her when she made him her's, dying of instability. Rejuvenated by an Artifact, swearing himself as a lieutenant. The mark burned into his skin.

"She was always arrogant, but no more than any other demon. But as a general, she wasn't the same. Wasn't who I had come to know."

He touched his arm where he had been branded, fingering the empty skin. His words, when spoken, were thoughtful. "Death removed its taint. And I no longer care to be dominated."

Whisper shook her head. “It's more than that, Messor. You have never been human, you don't know what it's like. You don't know what it's like to lie with a succubus as a mortal,” Whisper murmured softly. The words were pained, a confession she had never given voice to before. “Do you know what it is that allows a succubus to devour the souls of their victims? It's because in those moments, they would give up anything, even their own soul. Would you ask that of me?”

Messor faltered. There was the line he refused to cross again, the reason he'd left the Reavers behind. He knew what it was like to take souls, and guilt twisted a knife in his gut. He knew her fear from the other end, and he turned away.

It was a long time before he answered. "No. I couldn't ask that of you."

The hybrid shuddered, unable to face Whisper. He'd never known mortality himself, but he'd seen enough to know its horrors. Being one of those horrors was something he'd never forgiven himself. "I can't ask for you to sacrifice yourself. But I ask for your help nonetheless."

He couldn't have hated himself more for those words, but he spoke them anyways. He sighed, and turned to face her once more.

"I have to try Whisper, even if I have to try alone. I...can't just walk away. Not anymore. Not after...Host."

Whisper could feel her resolve wavering. The strength she once possessed was gone to her. She could feel it in him that he would try to do this regardless of her assistance. She also knew what it would do to him should he fail in his efforts. Her shoulders slumped and her grip upon the stone altar relaxed.

She had but one life to live, Messor had an eternity to look forward to. If she could not bear the weight of the world for even a year, who was she to ask Messor to do so forever.

She was lost and without direction, without purpose beyond surviving from day to day. Was this existence really worth what Messor would endure forever more? She wanted to sink to the floor right then and there, to just turn her back on the whole matter, but like Messor before her, pride kept her on her feet.

Many moments of silence passed as Whisper gathered her composure. “Very well. But I do this for you, not her.” Why that distinction was important to Whisper was hard to say, but it needed to be said.

"Thank you Whisper."

As before, the weight of Messor's hand upon her shoulder was a welcomed gesture. Loneliness and weariness urged her to stay here and take comfort in his company, to idle away the time reminiscing over days long past.

Reaching up she rested a hand upon his for a moment before she let out a heavy sigh. Stepping away from him she let his hand fall free. “I must see to some matters... Reis will be back soon. Would you see to it that he knows not to disturb me this evening?”

The foraging had been quite good, as the small satchel of various berries, leaves and fruit suggested. So, whistling jauntily, Reis descended into the alter room, swinging the satchel of food. Probably one of the best hauls yet, his foraging trips usually became less productive, but as long as you were willing to travel all the way down the mountain just to forage, there were all sorts of odd pockets of natural production.

Though, whistling as he was and obviously too loud to come close enough to hear anything without alerting them, he seemed unsurprised that Messor was there. 'Heyo.' Reis didn't let up the happiness in his voice and mood. Hard not to notice a dark cloud. Even harder when you just overheard a conversation about it.

'Where is Whisper?' The question was casual, though not more-so than normal for Reis. And discerning gaze would notice the slightly indecisive glance that the half-elf shot Messor's way, though. To ask or not to ask? He didn't like to be rude by eavesdropping. But he also had to know who this person they were talking about was... To ask or not to ask, that was the question.

Shrugging, the hybrid glanced at the half-elf. He sighed, leaning against the altar with indifference to any consequences to the action. "Not sure. She asked to be left alone though. Probably mulling over thoughts and the like."

The hybrid ran his clawed hand over the surface of the altar, trying to distract himself from his own train of thoughts. Events were speeding up rapidly since he'd come here, and nagging suspicions plagued him. His perusals in the library and his various forays around the temple had done nothing to shake his belief that whatever had brought him back was watching, or even what it was. And Mephit...the little imp had thrown him. That bothered him.

His attention returned to Reis. "Anything unusual out there?"

As far as Messor knew, there wasn't. But he remembered, painfully at times, how quickly that answer could change.

'Musing, huh? She's done that a couple of times while I've been around.' Almost idle, he flicked his gaze back and forth for a moment. Casually lax, his fingers played with a piece of rock as he replied. 'Out there? Nothin' I saw. Except for the oppressive feel of this place, everything's clear as an empty sky. Bar the sky itself.'

Oddly enough, he wasn't even trying to be particularly humorous as he focused his mind. 'Though, if you don't mind me asking, do you know anything about someone called 'Nyx'?' Internally, he kept a tight reign on both his apprehension about the name, and his excitement. 'I heard her mutter it some time back.'

And I hope the dragon-man couldn't hear over his talk with Whisper well enough to know I overheard. Quickly suppressing the smile at his own thoughts, he stared intently at Messor.

Messor focused on Reis sharply, a frown slowly crossing his face. The depth of the hybrid's attention was such that his pupils had expanded into slits, absent his concentration to repress them. For several long moments he studied the half-elf, trying to decide whether this was coincidence or something else. He kept the wariness out of his voice.

"Yes, I know of Nyx. She's an old friend of mine, and at one point was Whisper's and my...," Messor paused to find the most vague way to continue. "Leader."

A suspicion was beginning to worm its way into his mind that he'd let down his almost legendary paranoia at an inopportune time.

"Has Whisper told you about it at all? It might be possible I know something of it from elsewhere." Possible, with his immortality. But he remembered he'd not known of Krycis before he'd revealed himself, either.

Subtly relaxing in reply to the easing back, Reis allowed himself a moment to pat himself on the back for avoiding that, and frowned. 'She called it the Corruption? Mentioned a name, but it was something complex and I'm afraid I can't recall it now'.

'I'm afraid'... You sound like an uppity gentleman. He scolded himself as he shook his head. 'And they're after her for some reason, and I believe they caused her loss of her eyes. Did Whisper ever have a sister?'

Messor thought on the name for a time, but failed to associate any of the myriad monsters, demon, wraiths, revenants, or other malefics he'd encounter before. Shrugging at that, he allowed himself a rather true look of puzzlement at the mention of Whisper having a sister.

"None that I was aware of. Why would you think she had a sister?"

It was Messor's turn to dance around the truth. It seemed as though Whisper had never told Reis about her personalities, and the hybrid wasn't about to reveal that particular fact. At least, not without her knowledge or permission.

Raising an eyebrow, the bard cocked his head. 'Just curious.' Is all he replies as he stows the reply away. No sister with the names? There was an answer to this, and damned if Reis was going to miss out on it.

'What was she like younger?' The sudden, odd question almost startled the asker himself. But, almost used to voicing questions as he thought of them, he flowed with it, the momentarily odd look on his face fading quickly. 'Or was she always so paranoid?'

Messor shrugged, for he knew little about her earlier years himself. "You'd have to ask her that, since I only met her a few years ago myself. And what we were doing left little time to get to know each others' pasts."

The hybrid thought he had figured what the half-elf was up to. He believed Reis was fishing for answers, trying to complete the partial picture he'd put together from things he'd heard...

Something clicked in Messor's mind. You hear a lot of scraps eavesdropping, and the hybrid had been distracted enough to let him get away with it again. He managed to conceal his revelation, if barely. He grudgingly admired the half-elf for it, even if he was somewhat irritated by it.

I think I heard a little about what she was doing before the Corruption. She didn't speak much of it, though, and was very vague about it.' Vague described a lot of her answers...

Turning away, just slightly, his mouth turned up into a small smile. 'I admit. The more I hear about her, the more curious I get.' Broken by a short laugh, the half-elf continued, 'she has more secrets than a coat full of sealed pockets.'

"That she does, just like everyone else. It's just the...degrees that we all conceal our own that differs. Whisper is vague, and I...well there's another one I won't share."

Petty as it was, it lifted the hybrid's mood. Not much, but enough.

Messor snorted, shaking his head. "Say that when you're immortal. You get tired of finding out secrets and remembering them through the ages."

The hybrid sighed, once again feeling the years. He pitied a few other immortals who's ages made him look barely newborn in comparison. The trick was to find your own way to pass the time and hold onto your sanity as everything around you crumbled to dust as the years wore on. Being reminded of it all just made him weary.

What Messor said next was almost too quiet to hear, filled with a strange sense of longing. "But mortals, they find secrets all too enticing, never thinking that the revelations only last till the sands run out."

Abandoned Multiverse Characters Restored

Hey guys,

Just letting everyone know that I've gone through and found as many abandoned characters as I could and placed them back into their original creator's list of characters. There were several thousand characters who I could not determine the owner for, and as such I've placed those in the orphanage.

You're free to abandon them again if you wish!

Sincerely,
Your Friendly Multiversal GM

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

Hello folks!

There's been a lot of talk lately (mostly unpleasant and misunderstanding) about the invasion and occupation of Terra plot that Barney and I have been working on for over a month and which was recently unveiled publicly (apparently?) in the Multiverse. The idea behind most roleplay usually termed "nation roleplay" or "NRP" is not to overtake or dominate a large-scale roleplay, but to enrich and provide sociological, economic, and political background to such a setting. "Nation roleplay," or roleplaying that involves nation states, de facto state entities, or state-like factions, is intended to be a breeding ground for character development, provide a backdrop for character interactions, and create multiple avenues for diverse and engaging plotlines to develop at both micro and macro levels.

In my own writing, I focus predominantly on the development of individual characters and the dynamics of interactions among those characters. I find overarching, meta-plotlines like this invasion plotline to be an excellent impetus for engendering and fostering more vibrant and compelling character interactions and new plot ideas by creating multiple sources of tension. Characters need not have any high rank or formal affiliation with a faction in order to be impacted by larger events (think of what happens to average citizens when any country goes to war), nor will they necessarily be directly affected in any significant way (think about the everyday lives of most Americans during the Iraq war.) But you, the writers and roleplayers, will have a myriad of opportunities to create, develop, and form deeper and more interesting plots to feature your character(s), given a new set of macro-circumstances.

Both Barney and I welcome and encourage anyone who is interested in active involvement in the invasion plot at any level (very active to vaguely active) in any way whatsoever to talk to either or both of us about your ideas, character(s), and plans. A large number of people have already done so, including the following people:

- krumbla -- I can't remember his idea (I'm sorry, krumbla; talk to me when I'm not sick as a dog?)
- Mr. Crow -- News media company to be formed before the invasion and to provide support to the resistance or rebels following the occupation
- curtsive -- Vigilante anti-terrorist organization to conduct terrorist operations against the occupation
- Alasund De'astio -- plays the Democratic Coalition, allies of the current (canonical to Ylanne) Terran government
- Nemo -- typically handles the military side of the Terran government, as well as Randin Kaye from the Wing City Police Department
- DemiKara -- whose character Aerilyn recently joined the Terran Intelligence Bureau
- Konstantein -- plays a daywalking vampire who will act against the occupation
- AzricanRepublic -- plays the UCON, which has a military presence near Terra and supports the TNG
- Marcus -- plays the Council, which has a vested interest in defending Terran sovereignty
- Tearen Wover -- plays VARIAtech corporation, which is offering military assets to the Terrans

And I'm certain I've forgotten someone (in which case, if that's you, I do sincerely apologize. It's one a.m. and I'm still sick.)

Barney and I have sketched out an overview of how we expect the plot to run from beginning to middle to end; however, despite the fact that both of us obviously plan on the plot following that sequence, it can change its course at any point depending on the ideas and in-character actions of any other folks who decide to get involved.

Some of the plots to occur during the invasion and occupation, both planned and still in discussion, already discussed include the following:

- Arianne Drulovic subjected to an order of indefinite detention
- Democratic Coalition rescuing Drulovic from Aschen custody
- Terran resistance kidnapping self-proclaimed God-Emperor Raphael McGregor
- Drulovic psychologically "breaking" McGregor with his estranged wife Cally
- Hataf attack against Aschen Empire holdings
- Guerrilla warfare between Democratic Coalition, UCON, and Terran forces against Aschen forces
- Taiyou attack on Aschen-controlled Terra
- Terran Independent underground dissident publication
- Jelisaveta Drulovic and family taking Natalija Drulovic's children off-world
- Rubano Malijin assuming power as regional Governor of Terra
- Public executions of political dissidents
- Internal rebellion against Aschen government by dissident Aschen leaders

I strongly encourage anyone and everyone to seek me out to talk plot, character, and ideas. Both existing and newly created characters can be involved with any plot, either existing or newly proposed by you. If you feel that this planned plotline (invasion and occupation) will unnecessarily or unfairly interrupt or alter your own plans for character or plot development, and you passionately want to retain your own plans as much as possible, please talk to me. I am very obsessive and have high levels of anxiety about maintaining the integrity and substance of my plans, so I know how you feel, and am more than happy to collaborate with you to work out something that satisfies you and makes logical sense.

If I'm not in the chat at any given time, I can be reached via private message, or by email at trealistorm (at) yahoo.com. Messages to that email address are delivered directly to my smartphone, which I check obsessively all day long, and will be read and replied to as soon as possible. (Usually within twelve hours, and sometimes within as little as ten minutes.) I want to hear your ideas and opinions (but please be polite to me; I do have feelings and am a real person over here), and I want to make sure that you don't feel like I am trampling over you or your character(s) or your plot(s).

[OOC] Taylor's Bar (Multiverse Location)

This is the official OOC thread for Taylor's Bar. I'll post staff, recent events, and other information about Taylor's here.

Taylor's Bar is a location owned by my character, Gabriel Taylor. The Bar/Hotel/Casino is extremely fortified and secured. Each entrance has a metal detector and the place is usually fully staffed with employes. Taylor handles all of his business in house and law enforcement is nearly never called. Various precautions have been set around the bar to account for the magical inhabitants of Terra and keep it's inhabitants safe.

News Announcements

Taylor’s Casino and Hotel Grand Opening!

Gabriel Taylor, multimillionaire and owner of Taylor’s Bar, a successful nightclub and hang out for the rich and wealthy, has moved onto his next venture; A casino and hotel. Patrons of Taylor’s bar may have noticed construction going on around back as well as various signs and posters apologizing for the inconvenience; The large tower coming up behind the bar would be rather noticeable to say the least. Last month we got a word with Gabriel Taylor’s manager and he’s said that he has big plans for this place.

“Terra’s never had a place quite like this; Gabriel’s casino will be the first. The casino is the largest in the world and it’s also the most secure. Not only won’t we be hit, but we can’t be hit. We’ve brought in security experts from around the world to devise the most advanced security system Terra has seen. We invite anyone who believes they have what it takes to try and rob us, but I won’t be responsible for your injuries or the blow to your self-esteem. Try to teleport through our walls? Have fun getting stuck inside of them. We’ve worked with various experts in the field of magic and technology to create a sort of ‘teleportation displacer’ as well as armed our guards with anti-magic grenades. Although obviously not 100 percent effective, it gets the job done.

The hotel is large and extravagant. It has everything you’d ever need, ranging from a five star restaurant to indoor pools, and a top of the line spa. Our 2nd floor hosts a large assortment of stores holding anything you can think of including the finest clothing and the newest technology. “

The casino and hotel’s grand opening is April 9th at 7 pm. The party at Taylor’s bar goes from 7 pm to 2 am, but good luck getting in. The guest list is packed and with the security at Taylor’s it’s going to be difficult sneaking in.

We have a an Official Group now. Whoohoo. I will edit some more details later on in the day due to my exhaustion.

[OOC] The Gaia Stones [IC Fantasy Event]

Image

The Gaia Stones is a plot that I am currently GMing within The Multiverse on a planet deep within the Milky Way system where technology is not allowed and will not be able to function. The world is ruled completely by magic and magic law. The story consists of people being summoned to the planet Gaia (if they did not spawn on the planet themselves) and were brought to The Ruby Flask. They were given a task to follow a powerful mage named Ry'nn Traeger to collect stones which would unseal powerful weapons that had once been used to forge the kingdom. The purpose behind the quest beyond that remains to yet be seen.

THE WEAPONS

Skuldgrim the Slayer of Undead
Skuld was the first sword forged on the world of Gaia in the Xanaldra Forge. It is a legendary blade that has not been seen for a hundred generations. It once served Gaia when the undead were a threat to all living beings on the Mother’s soil and vanquished The Risen Horde during the age of Those Who No Longer Roam sent by Eras.

The blade of the sword is long and elegant with a pointed edge that is perfect for piercing into armor. Down its length is the engraving of Sagittae—a beautiful woman—in finely etched lines on one side and the other is the engraved representation of Atargatis—a strong and lithe man. The edges are blunt and glow with a strange red flame from enchantment. The blade and hilt are made from a very light weight and mysterious metal.

The pommel of the sword is marked with an engraving which represents the goddess Sagittae; one of the stars of Gaia and the Mother’s protector from the evil god Eras. The sheath is blood red. It is unbreakable and will never shatter.

It is a sword meant to battle the undead which roam mindlessly on Gaia; skeletons, reanimated corpses, and shades. But with all swords of power, there is a weakness. It cannot kill any living soul and may only be used on the undead.

Artrea the Healing Gauntlets
Artrea were gauntlets worn by a legendary man named Lysander Enlight. The gauntlets were hidden beneath the soil of The Exalted Mountains and were used to light the world when Eras had almost consumed his siblings. For seven turnings of Gaia had Artrea served to the be sole beacon on hope for all living things on the world.

The gauntlets are made from a mysterious metal which is completely white in color, almost as if they were made of our pearl. But they are as harder than any metal known to the current world as the knowledge died with Those Who No Longer Roam. They will light the path when light is needed most.

Glittering feathers protrude backwards and out from the wrist. The fingers are sharpened like ten deadly claws that can grip any surface short of diamonds. It is easy to scale a wall with the gauntlets. But that is not what make the weapons deadly. So sharp in fact are they, that they can pierce through most armor and can slice through human flesh like a razor through parchment. But their greatest power is the ability to touch others and heal their mortal wounds through the use of Will.

There is always a weakness that comes with weapons of great power. Those who adorn the gauntlets and use its abilities will soon find their eyesight failing on them over a long period of time. All those that have ever used them—even once—have gone blind with age. And when they are used to heal, the adorner will find themselves very drained as if their own life-force had been passed into the other in order to save their life.

Questions, suggestions, and comments should be directed here, especially when chat is busy or when I am not online or active in the chat.

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

Actually if you want it as a news report, at least offically so, there is a News Thread for the Multiverse as a whole

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

Sangrei's only statement was this. "Hey, I was hungover, and I got an iced tea with honey. How was I supposed to know that the bear thing was gonna come over and wreck the bar looking for goddamn honey?"

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

Gambit's Bar was drained of all its honey by a mysterious yellow bear!

Image

Unfortunately, Wing City police did not know this and were left in confusion to find only a yellow teddy bear with a red shirt at the scene of the crime.

The only customer under record who had ordered a glass of honey that day was a Sangrei Friedn. Responsibility for the bill and possibly the stolen stock of honey have yet to be decided. Police still find Friedn a suspect.

HAHAHAHAHA. The conclusion isn't coming til closer to the summer. Frequency of activity and times when the folks who are involved currently has dropped quite a bit for a variety of reasons, and I don't anticipate the conclusion to Family Pictures for a bit. That said, for those who pay attention to the faction-side of things, the announcement that elections have taken place for the Terran National Government will be posted soonish (i.e. within the next two weeks insh'Allah.)

Those who might be expecting me for roleplay, I will have no internet access this Thursday through Sunday this week except from my phone or if I can access someone else's computer with internet access. You will only be able to reliably reach me via email, which goes to my phone. If you don't have mine, any staff member does, as would anyone who regularly roleplays with me. Thanks!

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

There's no real procedure to get "started" in the Multiverse. The hub of activity is generally Gambit's Bar, but you can grab a roleplay partner and head anywhere. The sky's the limit!

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

I'm new here, and I just made my first character. How do I get started in the multiverse? I'd like to stick mostly to Terra to keep as close to my character's home as possible, but if I have to move, I will.

If you want to check out my character, go to roleplay/the-multiverse/characters/lorenzo-caracciolo
By the way, that is not near my real name, so don't worry.

[OOC] yea retarded moment

i managed to make myself feel like a retard just now i just posted a 86 word post in the wrong area . . . this is ooc . . . i posted it in IC so now i feel like a retard but we all have our moments so ^^ yea

You can create and play anything that you like in the Multiverse. There is no acceptance or review of characters, just create the character and start RPing!

Re: The Multiverse: The Official OOC (uber)Thread

Hello folks! I'm currently maybe two-thirds of the way through the planned Family Pictures sequence, which can be read here, and am posting one last announcement looking for folks who might still want to become part of that. There are opportunities! They abound, in fact! (Yes, I was looking for an excuse to use the word "abound" in an internet forum post. I successfully created one.) Re: The Multiverse: Where Do We Go?

Um. Okay. Bear with me. I read through what posts I saw, and took note on things that were said to the best of my ability. Here's where I stand on the Multiverse, where the Multiverse is to me, and yeah. I guess.

I agree that there needs to be a set baseline. For instance, the name of the bar. The name of the world that the bar is on. The name of cities, nearby things like that. There can be a set system of government, the Wing City Police Department, but their "jurisdiction" only stretches so far. Some of the most interesting roleplay I've seen/participated in has involved characters coming from other worlds and having to either deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.

Alternately, some of the worst and most frustrating MV roleplaying I've seen has been .. involving characters coming from other worlds and having to deal with, work around, or confront the system of government set in the Multiverse.

I've always seen the MV as a hallways connecting various rooms. The rooms are your own story, your own ideas, your own canon, your own characters; it's where your friends gather and you control things. When you're out in that hall, however, all bets are off. That isn't to say you can pull things out of your ass, but you accept and understand a certain amount of handicap.

For instance, my character Liesha Kennicot is a Special Agent in the United States government, from her Earth. She's aware that there are other Earths, and that she doesn't had any control when in the MV. That's fine. However, when someone else walks up to her and starts trying to give her orders claiming that their faction has taken over mine without a single bit of IC content, that's when things start to go awry.

Reading back over the original post, it seems that the Multiverse has as much substance as you give it. It's a sandbox location where you can freely interact with new characters that you might not get a chance to. For a while, I used the MV as a way to try and test out ideas with people before making a roleplay out of it. You get your circles of friends (as Patch mentioned, his crew of eight) and you go at it. Sometimes you meet in the middle, and sometimes you don't.

And at the risk of ranting, that is all I have to say about that.
