In 1977, Jack Torrence, the winter caretaker, was killed in the explosion of the original Overlook hotel after forgetting to release the pressure in the boiler. His family escaped. Now, despite the protests of the family, the Overlook has been rebuilt, refurbished, and reopened. It's reopening was well received, and many people have stayed in the new Overlook. However, despite it's long "vacation" the Overlook is beginning to experience strange happenings once again. During its reconstruction which began in 1992, twelve workers were killed on site. After its reopening in 1995, there have been a total of 27 deaths at the hotel, 13 of which have been murders. Now you get to take part in the Overlooks return...And you might just be its next pawn, or even its next victim.

I'm looking for at least 8 other roleplayers to play as up to four characters. (Families)

A knowledge of the original book is not required, but do not watch the movie and think you know what happened. This is based off the Book, not the movie (there is a HUGE difference).

This takes place in modern times, so no worries about getting to know past technologies.

You can play as a guest (and their family) or as a few staff members for the hotel (however I will limit each RPer to four characters for now). I have some characters posted, but they are prone to change as people join. I am looking for a possible Co-GM for this project, but the CO-GM is REQUIRED to have read the original book. I'm going to reread the book myself to brush up on the events that transpired. There will probably be spoilers and allusions to the work, so if you don't want to have the excellent work spoiled, please don't apply.

You may have two separate families totaling to less than or equal to four characters. Please try to be realistic.

The nearest town to the Overlook is a place called Sidewinder which has, since the book become a more modern town, but is still relatively small. Very little is located in Sidewinder. The Overlook itself is located in the mountains, and 40 miles from the town. The mountains are prone to heavy blizzards during the winter months, rendering the roads impassable.

Okay, you're going to hate me for this next part, but I have to say it. To do justice to Steven King's original work, I demand literacy. Adequate sentence structure, very little spelling and grammar errors, etc. You will have three strikes before you're out of the roleplay (as GM, I can kill off your character) However, if I get a PM or an OC comment from you giving an excuse, I will understand. However, if you are not literate in your character post, you will not be accepted. If you are killed off in the roleplay, your spot could possibly be opened, depending on how late into the events.

Time with the Hotel: The longest someone could have worked there is 15 years, since the reopening. They would have adequate knowledge of the murders and "accidental" deaths, but would be paid well not to say much about them.
Relation to the Rest of the Staff: Whether this character is likes or disliked by the rest of the staff.
