"How many times are you going to polish that piece of junk?" Dan's rather grumpy and abusive brother grumbled as he walked past Dan who was in a trance while polishing the body work of his beloved car. Thinking that they'd all be on the road for a long time, his car would take much of a beating as they covered the miles and miles of road and Dan had spent the last days topping up oil and making sure there were a supply of tools in the trunk of the car...just in case.

"I suppose your going in a minute then aren't you?" Matt asked leaning against the porch with his arms folded in a lazy fashion, most of his time was either spent schmoozing with girls or annoying his older brother. Dan had learnt to tolerate his brother by now and work his way around Matt's little games that wound Dan up without fail; most of their childhood had consisted of fighting one another but Dan always assured his authority over Matt reminding him the amount of times he had saved him from the school bully which never failed to shut his over confident brother up.

"Yeah." Dan answered bluntly. More or less he was now ready to go having packed all the things he needed. He didn't need much, just a bag with what he felt was necessary: in fact taking up most of the trunk space was his oil supplies and the tools he had brought along with him. You could have said Dan probably was too obsessed with the well-being of his car which was true indeed.

"There we go, clean as a whistle." Dale says to himself as he finishes waxing his beloved '69 Ford Mustang Boss with a 429 horsepower engine and twin NOS. "Oh man, look at the time! I gotta get to the meeting place!" He says as he gets in the car while looking at his watch. "Let's see if Dan's left yet, if not I'll go behind him..." dale says as he starts the engine, the roar pumping adrenaline through his veins. "Aw hell yeah." He smirks as he burns rubber, heading towards Dan's house,

Caitlyn packs the last few things in her massively large suitcase as her maid tells us the car is ready to drop her off. "just coming" she closes the suitcase and drags 3 suitcases across the floor reaching downstairs she grabs a cereal bar her handbag and instructs the driver to put her luggage in "road trip here i come" she smiles to herself just before texting Dan "im ready where we supposed to meet?" getting into the car she puts her iPod in and waits for a reply.

Spencer carefully tears open the packaging on the scented sandal her sister bought her for a 'going away gift' a few days ago. She ties it up to her rearview mirror. Her dad had washed and waxed her '95 Camry as his gift. Everything was taken care of. She packed the essentials; cloths, toiletries, her savings, in a single suitcase. In a backpack her had stuck her school jacket, her kindlem her cellphone and her Zune, and chargers for them, then lastly her wallet. Standing back to admire her car, simple like herself, she texts the others and asks if they were ready and where to meet. As she sits in her car she rolls down her window for her mom, who had come out. She handed Spencer a visa, "Eight hundred dollars, for gas only, okay?" Spencer didn't know what to say. "Okay. Thank you." She uttered, dumbstruck. She had been saving from her job since the beginning of Junior year. This money is going to help immensely. She started her car and plugged in her Zune, playing the Indie CD her best friend made her the summer between Sophmore and Junior year. Her mom leaned down,"Be safe. Call everyday!" She smiled. "I love you mom, I will." Just then her sister and her dad came outside. They came to the window to say their goodbyes. "I'm going to be late! Bye guys, love you all! See you!" I finally pulled out of the driveway and headed to the place where we were to meet.

Just as Dan sat inside his car, his phone that sat on the dash board started to buzz almost falling off of the dash before Dan caught it expertly in his hand. His eyes skimmed both messages, and choosing to make one and forward it to both Spencer and Caitlyn he replied:

"Mickey's diner. Be there soon."

He sat at the drivers seat, debating whether to have the roof of his car down. He never usually had it down in case of a sudden shower of rain and the finely crafted leather interior that Dan's grandfather Freddie had spent so many hours making could risk being ruined. Before he had even started the engine up, his younger sister Anna had bounded up from the street having returned home with her best friend Charlotte. They both scrambled up the car standing by the drivers side starting to pester Dan with Anna's questions on where he was off to.

"I told you. Road trip." Dan replied bluntly just wanting to get going now, he was thoroughly tired of the waiting to finally set off on a trip where he could forget about his annoying brother and sister who seemed to have no boundaries on privacy.

[OOC sorry about this rather dismal reply, but I was trying to leave an Opening for Dale to arrive at Dan's house seeing as he was on his way there :P]

The song buzzed through her ears, she leaned on the leather seats wondering what her parents would up to. They never really had much time for her but she was happy she had friends always there for her, she smiled at the sight of remembering them.
She saw her neighbor walk past and wave, she waved back and was just about to get out when her phone ringed and vibrated in her purse. She picked the phone up and read the text from Dan. Sighing to herself "Mickeys Diner Eh?". Caitlyn never spent much time at take-outs but she knew this one very well this was one her friends visited lots.
Leaning on the side of the black sleek saloon car she wondered what the Summer would hold for her, she looked up to her house and smiled to herself "finally away from here" not that she hated this place it was just .. boring at times.
Seeing the driver arrive she signaled for him to hurry up and put the luggage in which was still left across the driveway next to her mum's Porsche.
Taking a deep breath of fresh air she sat back down in the car rolled the window and was just about to press the play button on her iPod when her phone rang again. She checked the caller ID it was her dad, she gave a confused look how could her dad have time to call her? she instantly answered the phone. "Hellooo" She spoke into the receiver, it was her Dad saying bye and to make sure she stayed safe.
Closing the phone she told the driver to floor it and reach Mickeys Diner.
She played the iPod and sank deep into her seat staring outside the window without a flinch.

Hearing the familiar 'brling' of her cell that meant she got a text, Spencer expertly grabbed her Samsaung Transform in her right hand then rearranged so that she was now directing the car with her elbows as she quickly unlocked her phone and got to her inbox, all without taking her eyes off the road, She glanced at the message only long enough to see Mickey's and instantly knew where to go. Her adreniline was pumping from the culmination of excitement and anticipation, and the indie album was just not cutting it for her right now. She replaced her phone in the nooch below the emergancy brake handle and reached up to scroll through her artists to Skrillex. As soon as she pressed play she locked the touchscreen on her Zune and reached up to increase the bass on her stereo. The intense beats of Scary Monsters and Nice Spirits were pumping through her veins and she couldn't help smiling. She reached up and flicked the volume knob with her thumb and middle fingures and let the music take over.

Not having anything really to do while he wait for Joshua, his brother, to finish packing Jasiah walks into the kitchen to see his mom making sandwiches that she wrapped in foil for them and all their friends for their trip. "Hey mom what you doing?" Jasiah asked his mother looking as though he was oblivious to what she was actually doing. "Making sandwiches for your trip so you kids don’t starve." She replied with a roll of her eyes, because of how obvious it was to what she was doing. "So are you both all packed" She asked him while making what looked to be the 11 sandwich she made. "I am just waiting for Josh." Jasiah replied. "Josh hurry up or we'll be late.” Well im going to go see where were meeting at do you think you could drop us off we aren’t taking our car?" Jasiah asked his mom. “Yeah sure sweetie." She replied. Jasiah not wanting to be around his mom as she got emotional about them leaving again walked back into the living room and plopped down on the couch and decided to text one of his friends to see where they were meeting up. 'Hey Dan where we meeting at??'

Upstairs Joshua checked, double checked, and then tripled checked to make sure he had everything. His iPod, his camera, his cellphone, his laptop and all there chargers were inside his backpack that he swung over his shoulder and grabbed his suitcase and headed downstairs to meet up with his brother, Jasiah, so the could go on this much awaited road trip with their friends. "Jay, im ready so where we meeting them at?" He asked his brother as his mother walked in with one of those insulated picnic baskets filled with sandwiches."I just texted Dan just waiting for his reply" Jasiah responded. "Ok Siah and Josh here’s a card with 2000 on it. This is for you boys, you each have 1000 dollars ok, i want you to use this wisely for food and to help your friends with the gas and whatever else you may need it for ok. I don’t want you to blow it off on nothing but clothes...and stuff for your skateboard ok." His mom said handing him the bag with the sandwiches and Jasiah the card. "Thanks mom" they replied in unison while grabbing their stuff and headed towards the car so there mom could take them to the meeting place.

"Now, you're sure you have everything?"

"Yeah mom. I'm sure."

Wynmere hugged her mother through the passenger car window, before pulling back to blow a kiss towards her father. He smiled, and pretended to catch it, before offering up an "I love you". Her mother did the same, and Wyn smiled in return.

"I love you too, guys. And I'll call you whenever I get the chance!" She tucked some of her white-blonde hair behind her ears and stepped back from the car. The girl was already waiting at Mickey's Diner, having texted one of her friends earlier to find out.

With a smile and a wave, her parents pulled away - she could spot her mother turning slightly in her seat to see her daughter as they passed around a nearby curb. After they disappeared, Wyn simply sat down on the curbside at the diner, waiting for her friends to show up. Her luggage sat next to her, and she sat cross-legged on the sidewalk humming along to some music that was playing from her ear buds. Her parents had given her around four hundred dollars in cash, as well as a promise to keep her debit card always above one hundred dollars, in case she ever needed it.

She was really excited to be going on this road trip with her friends - they had all been really close for some time now, and she knew it would be a blast. She had her camera ready at least, in case anyone ever did anything worth documenting in a photo. She was sure there would be plenty of pictures by the time they were home again. And she just knew there would be a ton of memories from the trip. It was well worth it, as she would be heading off to the University of Pennsylvania for their Psychology program; she would have to hit the books hard when school started just to keep up with it all, and she knew that while she would have time for friends, they wouldn't necessarily be the kids she had come to love from high school, since none of them were going to the same college as her.

Yeah, this trip would be great, she figured. Though it was a bit disheartening to know how far they would be from each other soon enough. But the blonde-haired girl soon enough wiped the slight frown from her face. She was going to make the best of it all, no matter what happened. And she was going to do it with her best friends.

With a sigh, she pulled out her phone, glancing sidelong at her luggage. Turning her attention back to the screen, she typed out a message to her friends: 'Heads up. I'm already at the diner, loves~ <3' Pocketing the flat screened object, she began to sing along lightly to the song she had been listening to.

"...Well make sure to build your home brick by boring brick, or the wolf's gonna blow it down..."

Spencerr pulled into the diner just as Wyn's parents were driving off, she gave them a quick wave as they passed. She smiled at Wyn. Her phone gave another 'brling' just as Wyn replaced her own cell into her pocket. The text was obviously from her. She parked and shut off the car. Her ears temporarily hollow from the sudden lack of sound. She hopped out and ran over to Wyn, gathering her into an excited hug, and bouncing around. "I'm so excited!!" Then she leg her friend go andjerked her head toward the diner. "Should we get a table for everyone?" And stared walking toward the door. One last meal in the small town she had grown up in. She had never left this town. Well, once. But she was only four. And it was to attend her great grandfathers funeral in Whyoming. Nothing special.

The car pulled up the diner , Caitlyn didnt notice till her driver got out and opened the door.With a sudden jolt she unplugged her iPod and sat upright to notice the sudden racket. A amidst the many people in the diner there she noticed Spencer and Wyn sitting at a table and full of excitement! Caitlyn smiled to herself and thought she'd spend some time in the car for a while, instructing the driver to get back in.
This was the last vacation till she hit the studies, seeing as her parents were both leading business cooperates she decided to follow in their paths. Her dad made her take business studies and the usual other studies along with computing. Only a few more weeks and then it was time to set off for business school away from all her friends. She never really knew what she wanted to be when she grew up. Her interest in drawing just wasn't enough to set a career, and she didn't want to upset her parents.
She leaned across the seat in her skinny jeans and long top and sandals, and thought to herself this wasn't the time to think about the future but to live in the present. Remembering she was riding with Dan she texted him saying where are you?? I'm waiting outside the diner hurry up(: cant wait x
She plugged her iPod back in on full blast and took a small nap as the window rolled up.

Dela eyes blinked open as she heard Mumford & Son's "The Cave" bursting from her Iphone on the ground. "Oh crap!" she exclaimed as she turned to look at the clock, realizing she was running late to the diner. She quickly grabbed her suitcase, filled mostly with camera rolls, and her camera which was hanging idly on her door. As she ran downstairs, she noticed her mom had already left, not even waiting to see her daughter off for the summer. On the countertop sat a single $20 bill, all her mother could afford, and a note that read "Be safe". No I love you, or I'll miss you, because her mother believed only weak people said things like that. Or at least that's what her grief counselor always said.
Dela quickly disregarded the note and grabbed the $20 bill, rushing through the door towards the busy street. As soon as she was outside she stuffed the money in her pocket and reached for her phone, dialing her dad's number with ease.
"Hey dad" she said, walking down the road towards the diner. She only lived a few minutes away so she didn't want to burden anyone with picking her up.
"Hi sweetheart! I'm glad you called before you left, I'm so sorry I couldn't be there." Dela heard that familiar tinge of guilt in his voice for living so far away, but she knew he was doing his best. He was too emotional, her mother would always say. That's why he couldn't stand living in that house anymore. Too many memories.
"I know you would be here if you could be. Anyways I got to go Dad. I love you, and I'll call you later." She was beginning to see the familiar neon sign that hung over the door of the diner.
"Okay hunny. I love you too. And please be careful."
"You know I will" she said, smiling as she placed the phone in her pocket and grabbed her camera, taking a picture of the diner. As she walked towards the door she saw Spencer and Wyn, happy and excited for the trip ahead, and decided to snap a picture of them too, before grabbing onto the handle of the diner's door and walking in.

You're going to have a good time. You're going to relax, just let loose, not worry for once. AJ kept telling herself those things as she walked the short few blocks from her house to the diner. The slight breeze was blowing her long wavy brown hair into her eyes. She'd already received several text messages from her friends, saying they were there. She felt like she was running a bit late, but she had checked over her bags several times, making sure she hadn't forgotten anything even though she'd made a list. Although even now she felt as if she had forgotten something extremely important. However, she tried to push the feeling away. She was going to say goodbye to the anxiety. That's what this trip was about. She pulled open the door to the diner and walked inside, eagerly looking around for her friends.

"Alright, On my way now" Dan texted back as fast as he could while trying to ignore his sister's attempts at getting Dan to talk to her friend Charlotte who seemed to giggle madly whenever he was around. Unknown at first to Dan she had the typical schoolgirl crush on him and Dan being his ignorant self he found it impossible to pick up on her giggling and nervous twirling of her hair while he was ever near her. After being told by Anna, Dan had found it somewhat humorous that someone (someone especially like Charlotte) would take a liking to him.

Starting the engine, he smiled to himself as the engine purred into life and he waved 'Goodbye' to his siblings and Charlotte who stood on the driveway watching him leave. Earlier on today he'd already given his 'goodbyes' to his Mother and Father before they had gone to work, naturally he would have tried to have gotten away earlier but he was kept back due to his brother Matt and his questions.

He drove along at a fair place along the surprisingly clear roads, one arm resting on the ledge of the open window the warm breeze blowing against his skin. Dan was in quite high spirits, although he wasn't showing it to his brother and sister who would only pester him even more but as soon as he came to be in the company of his friends he knew he'd be able to share his happiness with everyone else on being able to drive for miles and go where ever they wanted whenever they wanted to.

Pulling into the diner car park, Dan pressed the horn lightly in two short sharp bursts, just letting those who were already there know he had finally arrived. From what he could see Dela, Caitlyn, Wynmere, Aj and Spencer were already there, only a few more people needed to arrive before they'd be off and Dan simply couldn't wait.

As more of heer friends began to show up her aunt Mickey , and the owner of the diner , came up to the table and waited on them. "Meals on me guys, what would you like?"She took their orders and then returned with a wrapped box. "This is for you Spence." Removing the wrapping Spancer unveiled a vintage camera, from the seventies by the looks of it. her aunt knew about her passion for photograpbhy and vintageworks. "Thanks! Ohmigosh thanks Aunt Mickey!" That's what she was bummed about. She never had a change to buy herself a camera and this was more than she coould have hoped for. "And all of the workers bought you a roll of film eacch. Tthat gives you twenty. And I got you a box of double A's"

Wynmere was just a bit startled as she noticed Spencer rushing towards her. But she quickly recovered, with just enough reaction time to be able to stand up and half brace herself for her friends excited hug. The girl began to squeal a bit, and jump around all excited-like. The reaction was confirmed at Spencer's words; "I'm so excited!"

Wyn couldn't help but laugh along. "Yeah, I am too..." she said, and listened as Spencer suggested they get a table for themselves and their friends. "Thats a perfect idea. I'm just gonna put my junk in your car for now - we'll move it around later as need be. I just don't want anyone to steal it all... Well, not that anybody would really want it, but for precautions sake..." She sort of trailed off towards the end, throwing her bags into the back of her friends car. Grabbing her purse from the curb, she slung it over her shoulder, before following the other girl inside.

Once they were seated, Wyn finally let herself get in on the excitement vibe her friend was letting off. "I'm really excited about this all." There was a grin plastered on the blonde's face. "Its going to be such a great experience. And think of all the boys we'll meet out on the road." She couldn't help but laugh at her own statement; it was sort of a joke, but then again, it also wasn't. She shot Spencer a grin - one that screamed 'I was joking', but also 'I was being completely serious' - before glancing around the diner. She noticed Dela making her way towards the group, and she scooted over to make room for the girl. "Hey! Glad to see you've arrived. We're still waiting on some people though..."

Wyn heard the diner door open again - her attention was now drawn towards the front, where she spotted AJ looking around.

"Over here!" she called out to the girl, waving her hand in AJ's direction. "We saved you a seat."

Two sharp horn blasts echoed out, and Wyn glanced out the window to see Dan's car. Grinning, she waved, though she wasn't sure if he could see it.

That's when she realized she had missed the front part of what Mickey had said. "Oh, um... I'll just have a salad and a smoothie. Balsamic vinaigrette on the side, please. No croutons." It wasn't long before Mickey was back, but she was carrying a gift this time. She handed it off to Spence, who eagerly unwrapped it. Wynmere was in just as much awe as Spencer at the sight of the camera - it was quite the beauty! She smiled at the girl, examining the piece of history from across the table.

But her attention soon turned towards the group. "So. Who's ready for a road trip!" The excitement was finally truly bleeding through her voice, and the grin she had been wearing on and off was finally a permanent part of her face.

Just as Jasiah's mom pulled up to Mickey's Diner he saw Dan parking his car. As soon as the car stop Jasiah hopped at and was next to the trunk in seconds. Eager to get this trip started and leave home. When his mom opened the trunk he grabbed his bag, his guitar, and his skateboard and was about to walk inside the diner when his mom stopped him with a hug. "I'll miss you guys." She said while pulling away from Jasiah and heading to hug Josh." Now i want you guys to be safe ok, the emergency number is the same no matter where you go ok." she replied in the same breathe not giving them time to reply."Mom we know." They replied in unison as Jasiah entered the diner and looked around looking for his friends.He spotted Spence, AJ, Caitlyn, Dela, and Wyn. "Hey guys." He said with a huge grin oon his face happy for this vacation.

Joshua stood out side talking to his mom. Mainly her giving him some more orders to be safe. She even went as far as making him put the 911 on speed dail. "Now Josh, don't tell Siah i'm doing this, but keep an eye on him make sure he does what he needs to ok." She said with a serious face looking Josh in his eyes."I will mom don't worry." He replied once again hugging her and then heading for the diner but not before waving at Dan sitting in his car. As he entered he saw Jasiah sitting down at a table filled with most of their friends and headed that way.

Oan parks his car in the Diner lot next to Dan's. "Hey guys, what's up!" he says smiling as he gets inside the diner. "you guys ready or what!" He stands by the table, waiting for the migration of bags to begin loading the Mustang to its' limits. "Alright Dan, so who goes in what car?" He asks, wondering if he was going to get the rest of the music guys or, if he's lucky, Wynmere. He's always been crushing on her, and he just can't stop himself. Of course, she's always either oblivious or thinks he's just joking around like normal if he tries anything.

AJ smiled at Wynmere as she sat down and sighed. "All I know is I'm glad I'm not driving," she said with a light smile. "I'd probably get the lucky ones who traveled with me killed." Everyone seemed really excited for this road trip and she was too, only her stomach churned a little bit at the idea of just driving around with really no destination in mind. She sucked at being spontaneous and the idea kind of freaked her out. She just kept telling herself to have an open mind.

Spencer quickly finished her club but could only manage half of her fries. She wanted to get on the road with all of her friends. "Well, before we get all set up to go.. we should decide WHERE we're actually going first." She prompted her friends. She was deffinately excited but they needed to know a general direction first.

Munroe rushed outside, after saying good bye to her dad, and brothers. Her mother died when 3 years ago, and none of them had really moved on. She sent a text to everyone, knowing she was late. 5 minutes guys, I'll be there! I'm so sorry I overslept!, clicking send, Munroe shoved her phone into her pocket, and practically dove into her car. She was in a hurry, which is what she had been since she woke up an hour later than she was supposed. For most of the ride, she was zoning out, until she almost missed the turn to Mickey's. She parked the old piece of metal known as her car, and jumped out, hastily looking for her friends.

Caitlyn saw everyone packing into the diner, and thought it was time for her to leave her empty car too. She closed her iPod placed it in her pocket. Leaving the luggage in her car she told the driver she would be back to take the luggage and left picking up her phone. She read Munroe's & Dan's text and smiled to herself. Walking up to the door of the diner she heard a screech of a car and turned around to see Munroe in a hurry, she laughed and waved to catch her attention 'Munroee over here'. There was so much she was looking forward to, finally a break she deserved! She placed her hand in her pockets and leaned against the wall.

"Hey guys!" Dela called as she made her way to the table that Wynmere and Spencer were sitting at. She sat down, grinning as she noticed their excitement. As she placed her suitcase on the ground, she noticed AJ enter the diner. Quickly after she heard Dan's car horn, signaling he had just arrived. She smiled, and turned to Spencer's aunt to order her food. "Can I have a Shirley Temple with some fries please? Thanks" she said, excited for her favorite drink. She remembered when her and Avery used to come to the diner. They came at least twice a week, and would always order the same thing; two shirley temples and a heaping plate of fries with melted cheese. They would sit for hours and talk about school, or home, or just anything that popped into their heads. As she looked up she realized she had zoned out, and tried to shake that depression that was trying to seep into her heart.
Dela saw Jasiah and Joshua entering the diner, and grinned, waving them over. "hi!" she exclaimed, getting up to hug them as they walked in. She didn't want to admit it, but at that moment she just needed a hug, to forget. Then she saw Munroe and Caitlyn walk in, and hugged them too. She then heard Spencer say "well, before we get all set up to go...we should decide where we are actually going first". Dela began to think about the places they could go, excitement filling her mind. She thumbed through her sketchbook, looking at the different sketches she had made. She looked at the golden gate bridge she had drawn, dreaming of the warm weather and the sandy beaches. Then she skipped to her drawing of a Mardi Gras festival, invisioning the excitement of New Orleans. Next she saw her sketches of the great cities of the east coast, Boston and New York City. She had always wanted to visit the city, to be part of something bigger. That's why she was going to school in Boston, because she believed in all the great opportunities there. She didn't know where everyone else wanted to go, but no matter where they went she knew they would have fun.

Munroe grinned at her friends, hugging them, greeting them, and what not. She followed Dela, and Caitlyn to the booth at which most of her friends were seated at the table, getting their order taken. She approached them, with a slight smile on her face. Giving all of them a slight wave, and mouthing 'hi', Munroe just stood there, waiting for all of their orders to be taken. Frankly, she wasn't hungry, she had eaten before she left. Micah, and Miles, her two twin brothers had made it for her. They were really good cooks, but she was slightly surprised they hadn't booby trapped it, being the pranksters they were. Then, there was her younger brother, Colby, he had given her a picture for her going away. Actually, she loved her family, even if they were slightly dysfunctional, but the thing that bothered her was she was the only girl. Her mom used to be there for her. She would take Munroe everywhere, and Munroe would tell her everything. Scanning the diner, her mind racked itself for memories. She spaced as she remebered those Saturday's during the summer where her mom would take her to this diner, while she worked. It was practically her second home here. She knew most of the employees, too. Another memory floated through her mind. A week after her mother's death, she remembered seeing the obituary in the newspaper. Her name. The funeral home. At school, people she didn't even know would come up to her, and apologize, or try to sympathize with. It kind of made Munroe angry. Munroe missed her. Shaking her head, she snapped back into reality, looking towards her friends.
