Description

Kenneth is of average height, about 5'9. While not overly muscular, he has a good deal of wiry muscle and could have more if he didn't focus more on flexibility. He has brown hair with bangs the fall into his blue eyes and a smile that most people generally find enchanting and endearing. He usually has a very pleasant look in his face, however, if he ever doesn't it usually means that things are about to go very badly for you. When not in uniform he usually wears high black riding boots, and white shirt and black vest.

His Rose tattoo is located on the back of his right shoulder.

Personality

He is generally a goofy, upbeat kind of guy, the man who after a rough bout will offer to buy everyone the first round of drinks. He's an avid sensualist, drinker and is an unabashed admirer of the female form. However, he has his chivalrous side where he takes the duty of a Rose seriously and believes that he is not only keeping the Royalty safe, but all of Linthe and is just as likely to protect an innocent shop girl as a princess.

Because of upbringing in a noble family, he is well acquainted with how to behave in a high class manner. However, as a side effect of his time travelling, a good deal of that has lapsed and he tends to pick and choose how to behave. At a fancy party or with his superiors he can be perfectly proper, but when with members of roughly equal rank and civilians he has no problem with swearing, slang and loose behavior and has no qualms with fighting dirty.

While he believes in the supremacy of the nobles, especially the Royalty he does not loath the residents of Lower Linthe like some do.

Equipment

Armor-Standard armor of an Orange Rose.

Primary Weapon-A cutlass, eschewing the more elaborate hilts and blades. There are several scratches and the blade shows sign of use, even as it is kept sharp.

Secondary Weapon- A "swordbreaker", a very sturdy dagger that had slots on one side much like the teeth of a comb. The teeth can catch the blade of the opponent's sword and lock it into place, allowing a variety of follow-up techniques even if it can't actually break a sword. Kenneth usually uses it in conjunction with his cutlass.

History

Kenneth was born the fourth son of a fairly well off noble family in upper-Linthe. While this meant that he wanted for nothing as a child, due to the order of his birth he stood to inherit nothing of his father's title. Because of this, his worried mother decided to protect him as best she could: by trying to marry him off to a noble family where his children, if not necessarily he, would stand to bear a noble title.

As a child, he idolized the Roses because they were the coolest. They were the elite, the best of the best and he and the rest of his brothers would always play at being members.

He begged his parents to let him join, finally managing to persuade them by telling them that joining would not only give him a career if there was nothing to fall back on, but it would also give him a better chance to marry well if he managed to obtain a high position. His parents, wanting the best for their son hired out fencing instructors, thinking that it would be safer than actually sending him with a Rose to the "dangerous under-city".

He applied to be a Rose on his twenty-fifth birthday, and flat out failed. The test-giver openly mocked him for not having any practical experience, and telling him that technique alone wouldn't do anything. This was a slap in the face for Kenneth, because before then it seemed as if everything would progress effortlessly. Realizing his mistake, he left home taking only the bare essentials. He traveled first to under-Linthe, and was surprised at what he found: he finally saw the dangerous world that his parents had told him about. However, as me met different people there he decided that despite the dangerous criminals (which certainly did exist) there were good, innocent, helpless people down there as well.

He left the city after that, visiting as many places as he could in that time and returned two years later. While he refuses to talk about everything that happened there upon his return he carried entirely different weapons and utilized a completely different fighting style. A great deal of polish had come off in that time as well, as he more readily found his place in bars and street corners than in the high life. During his second test he passed with flying colors and immediately began patrolling as a Red Rose. In part due to his parent's quiet backing and his excellent performance so far he has just been promoted to Orange Rose.
