Guardian if the gate and keeper of the Ruins.
First Name: Jinan
Last Name: Osama
Age: 1083
Gender: Male
Peoples: Guide (Keeper of the gates)
Myth: Sekhmet was often said to be the daughter of Ra, and she was the protector of cats and those who took care of cats; her gifts were joy and pleasure. She is often represented either as a woman with a cat's head, or as a cat. The significance of Bast can only be understood by comparing her to Sekhmet. Indeed, there is evidence that the Egyptians viewed them as aspects of the same divine force - Sekhmet being the violent aspect of the divine sun, and Bast being its gentler aspect. (Egyptian)
Appearance: Somewhere between a cat and a human in appearance, it’s face, legs and muscular structure are almost purely feline, with only the upper body, arms and hands taking on a slightly more human form. He has a rich golden ocher outer coat and a creamy white inner coat, including socks for all his four paws. His three meter long tail is lightly striped and used for standing on two legs as mostly he runs, walks and lives on all four. His eyes are a deep shimmering green, with flecks of blue; they flicker in the dark. He wears a little Malachite jewelry and a green loin cloth/skirt about his hips, giving him a wealth of movement as well as modesty.
Extra: Reacts harshly to bad things and softly to good things. He is known as a wise sage and is the friend of the owner of the Ruins.
Personality: He has been guarding the gate by himself for the past 200 years, giving him a huge hankering for company. He is kind and wise, often going out of his way to help others in anyway he can; be it man or beast. Though he is largely a softly, spending most of his time gardening, he also has a hard side. He actively protects the gates and is a fierce warrior when it is called out of him. He has little mercy for trespassers and those who try to gain access to the other side of the gate without valid cause.
Weaponry: Small throwing knife for catching food, otherwise tooth and claw. The throwing knife is small, with little embellishment and he only caries one, always collecting it back up use and never letting it just fall.
Back story: Born just after the last war, he came into a world of peace and kindness. He was bought up in a little of 3 by his mother, their father having died in the war, the previous gate keeper. His family had been watching the gate since it first existed and it was of course always taken care of by the first born; this he was not. Though he trained along with his sisters, becoming the back up plan; he was not thought of as right for the role. He was too kind and soft, unlike his sisters who were fierce from the moment of birth. As a result he was smaller and was given to the gardens as soon as he reached maturity at the age of 20.
He loved working in the gardens and quickly became well known for his work and success in making the Castle ever more beautiful with each new spring. He grew well and healthy, smaller than most of his kind, but highly respected despite him doing something that was uncommon for families dedicated as gatekeepers or guides. He found a wife and soon had a family of his own which he loved very dearly.
About 5 years after his first sister was appointed as the gatekeeper at Terran she was killed by one of the intruders, left nothing more than a bloody rag, his once proud sister. At this point he was bought back into training, having stopped for many years. The training was hard, trying to gain him muscle that would give him the dexterity and strength. It was during this time that his second sister was killed, the one he was closer to of the litter. Their mother, who by now lived near the gate, burst from her house, followed by his own beautiful wife. Both were less than able to protect the gate, but believed highly in what they were protecting. His wife three months pregnant and his mother now coming close to the 2000 mark, but both of them less than able, but more than willing. Between the two of them they managed to destroy the creature, the two of them working perfectly together, wisdom and strength combined in a beautiful machine of destruction. This did not however come without loss, his wife lost her kits and soon her life giving birth to the dead kittens.
After this he took his appointed place as the gatekeeper, no longer was he soft and kind after the loss of the woman he loved, but hard and ruthless. He soon lost track of time, letting time pass without care. He guarded the gate with everything he could, thinking of nothing else. Soon his world began to become quieter and quieter, many passing to the other side of the gate. The humans that had crossed aged and died under his cold eyes, unyielding in his appointed task. When the gate closed, he did not leave his post, the Castle now silent and still around him.
Over the last 200 years he began to soften, never straying far from the entrance of the Castle, but he once more took up gardening and began to wish for people and company. He befriended the local creatures, feeding them and keeping them close to him. Often before the Ruins reappeared people were heard to hear a low talking coming from nowhere, getting louder and louder the closer it came to it reappearance; this was Jinan. So he grew sweet and kind again, loving his life though it was empty if real company. Still if an intruder threatened the border he was ruthless, giving them not a chance to speak or plead their case, killing them swiftly, never would he allow any of the dark creatures through, not for anything.
Over the last 20 years he became friends with Thomas Thatcher the owner of the forest and in turn the Ruins. Once the proposed agreement between the dark creatures and those of his side, he was chosen as and envoy. He was to persuade the old man to open up, just this once to the public, to show them of things long lost. It was also to gain more people, to try and get people to defend his once beloved land, now empty of life, of anything. So the old man taught him of the outside word and he in turn taught Tom of the world he came from. The old man was assured a place there after this, when a new guardian had been found and the Ruin was at peace once more. So it was agreed that they would select a few people, people who would choose sides and decided the fate of the place he himself had taken care of for almost 800 years.
