Introduction
The end of the Jedi Civil War marked the beginning of a new age of peace and prosperity for the Galactic Republic. With the defeat of Revan's armies and the subsequent restoration of the Jedi temple, the strength and security of the republic against threats from the outside has never been greater, and the many worlds devastated by the Mandalorians now serve as newly terraformed and settled worlds booming with opportunities for the adventurous and hopeful. Amidst the new life and success of the recovery efforts however, a spectre lurks. Though the Jedi temple on Coruscant is now once again thronged by aspiring padawans, stoic knights and wise masters, the grandeur of the order is somewhat diminished. The betrayal of Revan and Malak, and so many other Jedi is not entirely forgotten from the minds of survivors and veterans of not one, but two brutal wars. The Jedi are not beyond suspicion, and new efforts are now being made by the order to seek out any sign, any fleeting hint at corruption from within.
Thus, the threat of a new Sith threat is one the Jedi are not taking lightly. It is not known to many what happened to Revan after the war, but there are rumors, hints that he left, to seek an new, greater Sith Empire, beyond the reaches of known space. These are rumors the Republic and the Jedi pursue and investigate diligently, though not always in concert. The Jedi would much prefer these rumors quashed and there association with Revan and the Dark Side, forgotten, and so prefer to think of leads discovered as internal, 'Jedi' affairs. Which is why, the stirrings in the Force of a new looming threat from the Darkside, are not widely known outside the highest ranks of the order, and a few trusted Senators and members of the Republic Military. While certainly not a central threat, or the fabled 'Sith Empire' Revan supposedly went out to seek, the Jedi now turn a watchful eye and cautious steps towards rooting out a threat from within the Republic itself, a Sith Lord, somehow remaining hidden from their eyes.
Though it is now a budding world, with a ripe future, the weight of the wars is not forgotten on Telos IV. The herald of Republic restoration efforts, no planet has come to blossom from the war as greatly as Telos, but buried on its surface are more than a few secrets. Few know that many Jedi relics were lost along with a whole hidden Jedi Temple when the planet was attacked by an Ancient Sith enemy. And even fewer now know the secrets that lurk just below the planet's surface. On one of the many natural preserves, a staple of Telos's new growth and budding tourist industry, was buried and old Republic military installation, which now, in secret, has been converted to a new Dark Side Academy by a most insidious and conniving Dark Lord of the Sith. Drawing pupils from those failed candidates of the Jedi, sent to Telos to work as farmers and laborers, he has tapped into many a former apprentices latent talent with the Dark Side, but now seeks to spread his net further into the outer rim, recruiting only the best and brightest candidates for his schemes, right under the nose of Republic Officials, and the Jedi alike. Who knows what might lie in store for the Galaxy, should he be successful . . .
If you're familiar with the Old Republic (what with the new game) this is will be taking place just before and might even incorporate the discovery of the New Sith Empire, and if you're not entirely savvy with the Star Wars Universe, don't worry, this is to be taking place largely outside the canon, though I don't intend to break with it entirely. And don't let talk of an 'Academy' fool you. This is not some thinly veiled attempt at a high school role play, there will be a great deal of intrigue, politics and conflict from without and within, each Sith Apprentice looking to gain the upperhand over his fellow, and the Jedi to ferret out this new menace, without tarnishing their newly restored reputation. All the while, adventurous Republic settlers and citizens will be looking to make new lives for themselves on Telos, and you can bet plenty of unsavory characters might be looking to take advantage of that fact. Telos is a budding world with lots of potential, for good or for ill, or simply for profit, and you can bet all the manner of smugglers, bounty hunters, and other ilk will be found in the seedier corners of the settlements.
Character wise, there's of course plenty of room for students of the Dark Side within the academies walls, of for the Light Side, Jedi knights, Masters or their Padawans investigating the hidden threat.
The Republic has a great interest in making sure that Telos prospers, even if it's restoration is complete, there's still lot's of work in maintaining it as a functioning planet of the Republic, and ensuring it's security against other interests. Moreover, as one of the most successful examples of the Republic's restoration projects, the world is something of a science fiction boom town, with plenty of people looking to make their fortune or stake a claim. The massive Citadel Space Station is in the process of deconstruction, and is being converted into a shipyard, space dock, and various customs and trade stations meant to compliment Telos's newly burgeoning economy. This means a large Republic Military Presence, possibly the largest of any system in the Outer Rim; Escort Vessels, Patrol Ships and larger Warships all find themselves back at Telos for repairs, refueling and perhaps a bit of shore leave on one of the planet's nature reserves . . .
For those less savory characters in the Republic, Telos is a place of opportunity. It's no secret that Czerka Corps' plans for the planet went sour, and the Exchange was more than a little hurt by that lost venture, leaving something of a power vacuum for the criminal elements spread throughout Telos . . . In fact, the last two wars have not been kind to the Exchange, and the crime families of Nal Hutta have purportedly been looking very keenly at this opportunity to assert themselves as the new, premier criminal organization Galaxy Wide. Telos may just see the first few shots fire in a galactic crime war the likes of which the Republic has never known . . .
And all the while, the hidden threat of the Sith Empire works just beyond the boundaries of known space, much closer here, in the Outer Rim, than Coruscant and Corellia so many light years away . . .

2. As for actual posting requirements, paragraphs or multiple paragraphs are the order of the day. More for settings scenes and character introductions, less for interplay during dialogue and combat scenes but a minimum of two to four sentences per post, please.
3. Characters will wait to post for my approval (or any administrators I designate) and will follow the character template provided.
4. All that said, do have a good time and enjoy yourself in the Star Wars Universe.
Character Template
Name: Given name and any and all appropriate titles or aliases (Mention if you want your real name concealed for the others).
Gender: Self-Explanatory
Age: Apparent age if an explanation is necessary
Affiliation: To whom do you owe your allegiance if anyone?
Background: Just a brief blurb and need to know information about where your character came from and what other people might expect to know about him or her. Feel free to save the juicy details to be revealed during the role play at your discretion.
Appearance: A written description is required, but feel free to provide an image as well.
Equipment: Don't feel the need to go into too much detail here (especially if you're not familiar with the Star War Universe). You don't need an exhaustive list of equipment your character can use or has access to, just a brief outline of what they probably will have on them at any given time; A standard load-out if you will.
Special Characteristics: Force Sensitivity, Alien Physiology, Training, Techniques, anything not covered by the other categories you feel its important to have established with your character. Again, don't feel like you need to go overboard here, we don't need an exhaustive list of Force Power your character is familiar with, but any special talents or if your character has a knack for something in particular.

For reference, this role play will be taking place 3,972 years before the Battle of Yavin (Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.) That's 21 years after the events of Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, 291 years before the Republic learns once again of the Sith Empire, 319 years prior to the sacking of Coruscant, and 392 years prior to when Star Wars: The Old Republic takes place.
It's a nice gray area in the canon timeline when the Republic is in a state of recovery, and sort of a golden age. You may also note that this is a almost 4,000 years prior to the Ruusan Reformation which strips the Jedi of their military titles and forces and establishes them as the Jedi order you may know from the prequels. Jedi of this era are more than active in the day to day affairs of citizens, and while they still hold the same oaths of chastity and humility and all that, the Jedi of this era are much more diverse and many even hold official positions within planetary governments, or the Republic Military.

First and foremost though, I'm looking for a handful of Dark Siders to play the students at the academy. Don't be fooled, this isn't any thinly veiled attempt at some sort of school-roleplay-with-force-powers, the conflict will be keeping the Academy hidden underneath the nose of the Republic and the Jedi, and the budding schemes of the Sith Master controlling it (played by me).
I'll be posting in the Role Players Wanted, threads shortly, but I'd also like to use this space to discuss any and all prerequisite connections, introductions or establishing any details ahead of time that don't have a place IC. Feel free to post here even if your character has not yet been accepted.
