Introduction

First thought: You parents may have said they loved you but secertly they were a little ashamed of you. It may be because you're deaf, been in jail,gay, anything. You knew that they were ashamed so it made you either feel ashamed and hate yourself. You did you should have done or maybe it was something you didn't chose. You ran away to Freedom. Where you met a group of kids around your age who had the same problem in their life. You would stay there all summer and said you would never go back but of course you did. But, before you did you made a promise to always come back here til we all died. *Pinky Swear*. It has been five years since you have. One of you isn't ready to leave that city or their real family behind. All they want is one more summer before everyone moves on in their lives.
PLOT
For many people they feel at home in their home but for these six teens it's as far away they can get from their house. Every single of these teenagers have some thing they're ashamed of. It might be a disablity,being in a gang,anything. They are always being judged by every single person who meets them. For the summer they made a pack to always go to this small town near the beach,The people here were homeless people,Gay,Lesbians,Transgender,they were all different. They all came here to get away from the judgemental world. To come here they had to lie to their parents when if they said no they would run-away for the summer and come back in August. Their old town they came from gave them the name "The Summer Ghost" because they left not a single trait of where they went. The last time they did that was a total of 5 years ago. One of them finds a picture of all of them a decides it's time to reunite the "Ghost" and live up their last summer before some go off to college and they all go down different paths, never to entertwin again.
Introduction:
You all get a letter. There is no return address all it sais is your old town of what you called "Landlocked". You all being the naive teenagers you are open the letter to see the picture that the newpaper always used around the summer time when you would go "missing".
The letter states:
Hello friend,
So nice to say hi to you again. So it toke me along time to type these and to find your address i mean damn some of you even moved out of the state. How have you been, (Insert name here)? Ok,it's not that big of a secert. So it's Alice, that picture I've sent you. Do you remember that? You and your friends would always runaway to that cute little town. What was the name? Oh right..Freedom,California. Ring a bell? Yea I knew it would. But from what I remember it has been a total for at least 5 years since we have gone back. We are all getting older some of us are 18,17, shit one of us is even 16. The reason I'm sending this is not because I wish to tease you but I remember your difference that you were ashamed of. Were you the one who was color-blinded,in a gang,or was it something else? I am here to invite you to return to that old little town. Just one more time. Before we all forget about each other completely, Hell who knows maybe it may refersh our friendships,relationships,who knows what that one summer will do? You do remeber how to do this right? Well if you don't this is what you do:
1.Leave your cell phone at home

"Yeah, he is..." Turtle replied. She looked a bit closer at the man. "Is it just me, or...does he look familiar?" Turtle asked everyone. He does play very beautifully.

But when she made her...polite query, shall we say, he clasped his hands together, staring straight down to the ground in a timid manner. "Just like the rest of you did," he murmured, voice barely audible, even in the rather quiet setting of the restaurant (well, it'd been quiet right up until Turtle showed up, but that was par for the course). "In the mailbox. I mean, I know I changed a lot...but it's been five years, Izzie."
Izzie's eyes narrowed. Somehow, the timid mannerisms and unobtrusive, meek way of speaking was reflective of Ellie, but....well, that had to be a coincidence. Ellie hadn't been a guy, that kinda cinched the whole thing. Didn't matter how much time passed, you simply did not spontaneously switch gende--
Oh.
"CuzΓ£o," she murmured under her breath, clenching her fists a bit as she realised her callous mistake. Silently, the overbearing woman turned away from Ellie...or whatever she was calling herself. Er, whatever he was calling himself. Fuck, this is gonna take some time to get used to. She knew she'd probably made an ass of herself and made Ellie feel pretty damn awkward about herself (himself, dammit)--but she couldn't bring herself to turn back around and apologise. Instead, over her shoulder, she merely grunted, "Alright. I get it," and sat herself back down at the table, glaring straight forward.
Others had coalesced--Izzie recognised them all. After the dramatic physical change that had come about to Ellie, any other change seemed paltry in comparison. Vinny--Brancade Neve, she remembered she used to call him, being a white rapper--wasn't the scrawny little kid he'd been when he was...what was it, thirteen years old? Which made him eighteen now, but based on the hat perched on his head at what looked to be a very specific angle and the general attire trend he had going, he was still into rap. But he'd, obviously, gotten taller, and a layer of musculature was clearly visible on what had once been a lanky, compact frame. Roy, too, had approached, judging by Turtle's exclamation of his name, and indeed a moment later Roy Tefon entered the restaurant--his dark blue eyes and the lazy, laid-back look about him unmistakable. Which meant the only person who had yet to show up was Lucy, Lucy and...
"Wow, he's really good, isn't he?" Alice remarked. It hadn't struck Izzie to notice the sound of someone playing guitar--after that little scene with Ellie, she'd cranked the volume on her death metal right back up to fill the awkward little moment that had followed--but when she turned, her eyes fell upon the rather distinct form of Johnathan 'Pierce' Rhodes, though it seemed Alice did not recognise him. "That's because it's Pierce," Izzie informed her, though upon consideration, it struck her that Pierce didn't seem to have recognised any of them either. It seemed rational to Izzie that if anything, he would at least recognise them collectively--after all, you had Alice with her eye-catching blue hair, Izzie decked out in spikes and bullets, and Turtle all but all over the place, it wasn't too hard to figure out that they were...a bit out of the ordinary. And it seemed to her that would enable one to put two and two together and figure out that they were, in fact, the same group of teenagers who five years ago had joined together to flee their own respective pasts.

She walks up to him and taps on his shoulder softly but still hard enough for him to feel it. "Hi, um i'm really sorry to bother you but would your name happen to be Johnathan but people call you Pierce for some reason? Because my name's Alice and.....Oh my god it is you." She saids as he starts to look at her. "Um,the others ae right over there,come sit with us." She adds with a smile showing the way to the others as they talk and look at them.

Watched as they talked quietly, and when she saw recognition in Alice's face she knew it was him. "Well, today is good very good." She said to herself, as she seems to do a lot. Turtle thinks talking to yourself can help you feel less embarrassed about yourself. If you judge yourself, you not really that embarrassed, but when someone judges you, you get damped, and depressed.
Turtle turned back around, humming to herself, tapping her feet to the beat in her mind.
Eli had watched as understanding dawned apon Izzie. He could tell that she wasnβt angry anymore, which was good. But now it was even worse. Things had gone from tense to just plain awkward. And when she turned away, he couldnβt help the tears forming in his eyes. Glad that she was now looking away, he walked over to an empty table and sat down. Stop being such a woman, he thought, angrily wiping his now red cheeks. Sheβs already disgusted enough.
Hoping that they wouldnβt notice him, Eli looked towards the forming group. They hadnβt really changed too much. Turtle was still just a bitβ¦ odd. Alice was still bright and welcoming. Izzie was still just as protective, and frightening. But it was the three boys (well, now they where men) who really caught his attention. Vinnie had never been tooβ¦ attractive to Eli, but the other two boys where still just as beautiful.
Roy was still too much. He still had those eyes that made Eli want to stare at him forever. There was no denying that 12 year old Ellie had adored him, and yet envied him at the same time. Just like there was no denying that now 17 year old Eli found him insanely hot, and yet hated the fact that he was something that Eli would never be.
"It has been a while since all of us were here. We've all changed, some for the better and some for the weirder. Not saying that's a bad thing." Vinny said taking out a smoke, the owner yelled at him there was no smoking in the restaurant, Vinny just nodded and started to play with it. He had gotten pretty good at it, kept him occupied when there was nothing better to do. Vinny smirked at his memory of his first cigarette. It had been the last time they came here and it was with Izzie. They had bummed two off of some random dude and after the first drag they both had coughing fits. He wished he could be 13 again, not a care in the world. Not having to sell drugs to keep gas in his car and smokes in his pocket, and not worrying about getting jumped or shot.

He could smell the pizza and his stomach growled. He loved pizza and this was his favorite place to go. He loved to hang out here. The memories of how they all used to hang out here was coming back to him and grinned again, which was awkward because he was standing in front of someone. He gave an apologetic smile that was almost like saying Sorry if I made you uncomfortable.

"Who are we missing?" Turtle asked Izzie. Someone was missing, but who? Anyone who knew Turtle, knew she had horrible memory, and a strange personality. Her personality though, didn't quite match what her actions, at least not all the time. You look at her, and you would think she was innocent, but she knew otherwise. She was in a gang. Of course, she wanted to leave it, but if she tried, they'd killer, because even though she was the only girl.
Turtle looked at all the others. Some hadn't changed much. Despite Ellie, being a guy now, he was still quiet, and kept to himself. Alice was still bubbly and kind, Vinny still the rebellious kid. Izzie, was still frightening, but you can't deny even she cares about the gang. Pierce still was keeping to himself, and Roy was still shy, but once you talk to him, he'll be a bit more out there. Turtle thought the boys had gotten attractive, and the girls she was jealous off-they were more beautiful than her. She couldn't help but feel jealous.

Somehow, just looking at them, even Izzie couldn't help but crack a smile--she felt the corners of her lips tugged upwards just a bit in a minute semblance of a smile, a minuscule expression of the joy she felt at being here with people she had been missing for years. And they all had their differences, but in the end, they all cared for one another. Sure, Vinny and Izzie were liable to get into a spat at any time over music, given they hated the genres the other listened to, but even then, Izzie could remember having a good time hanging out with them--hell, she'd been there when he was thirteen and had smoked his first cigarette. She could remember clearly how he'd nearly coughed up a damn lung afterwards, while she, sixteen years old and no stranger even then to substance abuse, smirked and smoked her own cigarette calmly. Alice was that same kindly, enthusiastic girl who had kept all the others anchored with her seemingly endless supplies of optimism and happiness. Roy and Pierce, the 'musicians', so to speak, of the group...which Izzie still envied them for. She would've given a hell of a lot (well, she didn't have much, but a hell of a lot of what she did have) to be able to play the music she loved much like Roy and Pierce could with the music they enjoyed, but it would've been a pointless endeavour--she'd never be as good as them, she'd probably never be good at all. She'd given up on that quite a while ago.
Turtle was still Turtle.
That was not surprising.
"It has been a while since all of us were here," Vinny said, voicing the thoughts that it seemed everyone was thinking. "We've all changed. Some for the better, and some for the weirder. Not saying that's a bad thing."
When Izzie saw Ellie decide to sit not far away at an empty table, however, the smile was replaced rapidly by a frown. Shit, I really did offend her...him, fuck it... Izzie didn't like that idea. Ellie, man or woman, regardless of his or her physical appearance, as long as he was still, at his core, 'Ellie'...Izzie cared about him. And she didn't like the idea that Ellie might have thought Izzie disapproved of him now, or that she thought he was a freak, because she didn't. Didn't matter if she went around acting as though people and their opinions of her didn't mean shit to Izzie, the idea that Ellie might now view her as looking down on him, might even think he disgusted her, was reprehensible to her...
Gritting her teeth, Izzie decided that the possibility of someone she actually cared about thinking she hated him was far worse than the thought of swallowing her pride for once. So she forced herself from her seat, made her way through the group, walking towards Ellie where he sat alone in one of the nearby booths, back turned to the others.
"So..." she trailed off as she approached, stopping at the other end of the booth and turning to face Ellie, leaning against the hard wood surface of the booth seat's side and turned her head to face him. "Guess I can't call you Ellie anymore? You go by something else?" She just couldn't straight up apologise for it. Nor could she straight up just tell him that her opinion of him as a person hadn't changed--which, she realised, she was genuinely afraid he thought. Twenty one years she'd been a stubborn, headstrong woman, twenty one years she'd refused to apologise for anything, to anyone. Not even for something like this, and not to someone whom Izzie counted among the few in life she'd come to regard as worth the risk of trusting.

OMG, I haven't moved for 10 seconds! Turtle thought, frightened. She needed to do something. Sometimes Turtle wishes she could stay still and quiet forever, but she can't because she has ADHD, and her pills aren't very effective. Turtle looked around, and decided on going up and ordering something to drink.
"May I have a large DP?" She asked the man she recognized even after 5 years. He smiled kindly at her, and handed her her Dr. Pepper. "I see you still call Dr. Pepper DP." He commented, while she grabbed her drink. "Yes, the same way I'll sill call you Dumbledore."
She walked back to the table seeing Alice pull out a ouija board. "You brought that?" She asked sliding into a seat, sipping her drink.

She saids as she flips it over to reveal all their names scrathed in to the wood and a little symbol that discribed them. "It brought back a bunch of memories so i decided why not." She adds as she leaves it flipped over.

His hunger and thirst suddenly got the best of him and he slapped the table gently, to get the man's attention. He was the man that Turtle called Dumbledore. He put his hand up to his mouth in the shape of a cup and tipped his head back. The man smiled, "Ah Roy. I know exactly what you want." Roy smiled and then pointed to a picture of his favorite mushroom and sausage pizza. The man smiled and got what he wanted. Roy was content.

He looked over to Roy, even as he walked over to the stool, (It was rather odd that he didnβt stay to tal--- never mind) and then back to Izzie.

"Chicken shit? Nah, this shit is fucking cool!" She smiled at the back of the ouija board. She missed being 13. Things weren't as complicated. "Hi Pierce!" She waved at him, and then took a nice long gulp of her drink.

"You kiddin'?" she retorted gruffly, shaking her head. "You want me to call you Eli, then that's what I'm gonna do." She paused as he glanced away to look at Roy, giving her a moment to choose her next words--and when he turned back, she simply picked out what came to mind first. "'cos I know that regardless of what I call you, you're still the same person inside. That's all I care about."
Huh...I guess that came out...well, okay, she thought to herself as she looked back to Eli. At least, I don't think I made an ass of myself with that. Confidence bolstered, she nodded back towards the group and said to Eli, "Now why don't you come over and sit with us? I mean..." the smile widened somewhat into a smirk. "You did come here for us, right?"

Vinny sighed and put the pad away those rhymes sucked. He needed to find some inspiration. People think rapping is easy, sometimes it just comes to you and other times it doesn't.

Eli found a smile spreading across his face at that. He didnt mean for it to, he had been upset just a minute ago, but for her to say that meant alot to him; more then he would let on. "Thanks" he said, his voice a bit louder then it had been before. "I really appreciate it" And he did.
"Now why don't you come over and sit with us? I mean...You did come here for us, right?"

"She's only scared when its night." Turtle said, taking another gulp. "Oh geez...I forgot to ask for caffeine free." She turned and looked at everyone, and evil smile spreading across her angle face. "You're all fucked."

"No, I came here for the pizza," Eli retorted sardonically to her following words. "You guys were merely an afterthought." Izzie feigned offence, her thin, dark lips still pulled in a smirk. "Well shit, I didn't know the pizza was so damn good around here." She glanced over to the main group--seeing, much to her distaste, that old accursed Ouija board. Oh, how it'd gotten on Izzie's nerves that first time five years ago Alice had taken the damn thing out. The point was lost on her. The dead don't communicate with the living. The reason being that they're kinda dead. Izzie reached up in an almost unconscious motion to her neck, where her long fingers stretched out to take hold of the object that hung from a simple thread around her tanned, slim neck--a cross. A mangled, rusted, almost unrecognisable metal cross.
It wasn't that Izzie was religious. In point of fact, she wasn't even spiritual. The cross, violently disfigured and mutilated, was there to make a point of that. That there was no hope to be found in supernatural explanations of why things happened--that there was no way of using religion or spirituality to try and justify, or understand, or comprehend why tragedies happened. They just did. The world had no particular way of working--it just was. And people had no particular reason for existing in that world--they just did, and there were no higher powers, no spirits of the deceased, nothing beyond the physical to grant comfort to them in times of distress. That was why she thought the Ouija board was such bullshit. It was marketed to gullible, hopeless fools who couldn't let go of past memories and let the memory of the departed rest in peace...
"Well, let them have their fun," she decided aloud, her hand falling from the mangled cross. Five years ago, Izzie would've marched right in and informed them all that Ouija boards were, in fact, a trademarked board game created by Hasbro in 1890, and that the whole spiritual aspect had only come into it when some idiot in the 1910s popularised some rumour that it was used to speak to the dead. Not now, though. Maybe she had matured that much, at the very least--enough to simply let the kids have their fun. She glanced back down at Eli. "Well, I'm none too keen to go and observe the calling of the unrestful dead. Guess I'll just stand myself here. Unless, of course, you take significant issue." She said it with a note of sarcasm--even though there was still a part of her that was concerned that he actually would.
