"I have no interest in ordinary humans. I do what I do, because this world makes me bored."
Ian isn't a large man. He stands at 6'0'', yet weighs considerably less than usual, as he is convinced that eating slows his thinking, and sometimes prefers not to engage in it. Though he's not a body-builder, he still has some muscles, indicating that he would be able to throw a good punch if the need were to arise. He's got a long face with prominent cheekbones, wild brown hair to his ears and blue eyes. Usually shaven, mostly because he can't stand facial hair, but he doesn't seem to get the point of doing anything with his hair, thereby the description "wild."
He usually wears a business outfit - suits and boring ties to make him look presentable. This is usually followed up with his favourite coat, and perhaps even a scarf to shield him from the English weather. Outside of work-time, however, he really doesn't get to decide what to wear. His brother's company has a certain image to keep, which is why his clothing is usually decided for him by stylists. Not that he always listens, of course. Ian has been known to do his shopping in pyjama pants and bathrobes.
A friend of Ian would describe him as insane, bad-tempered, sociopathic, eccentric and energetic. Lucky for him, he doesn't have any real friends.
He becomes bored very easily. It's during these periods of boredom that he's at his worst temper, often doing things at the top of his head because it seemed like a good idea to pass time - be it dropping things on innocent passers in the street below him, throwing knives/axes/books at the wall in his apartment, re-painting the kitchen in wild colours and finish when the job is half-done, conducting experiments.. You get the idea.
Ian is so sick of the human world, and most of his sociopathic behaviour comes from the fact that he really doesn't understand people. Neither, he claims, does he feel the need to. People are so boring, in his mind, which is why almost 50% of the money he earns is used on researching the supernatural, or travelling around the Earth to places where they might have found evidence of alien life forms. When he thinks he might be on to something, his usual neutral face brightens, and the energetic side of him comes to show. Things just can't be done fast enough, and he needs to know. Up until now, he's been disappointed each time, but then again, times are changing.
There are a surprising amount of things Ian seems to be unaware of, yet there are a lot of things he knows a lot about. He's a strong fanatic when it comes to sci-fi and fantasy, but he pays no attention to the world around him. He couldn't tell you the name of the U.S president, nor even Britain's current prime minister. He, obviously, also spends a lot of time on the internet, mostly searching through paranormal forums to see if he can find anything interesting.
Ian earns a great deal of money through the company of his deceased father, now run by his brother Joseph and himself. Though undoubtedly insane, Ian has a good mind for business, which is why his brother hasn't attempted to throw him out yet. He doesn't work in the office all the time, mostly because he's unbearable when he's bored.
He owns a dingy apartment on the bad side of London, mostly because his habits doesn't sit well with the people owning houses of higher standards.
He owns a cat, but keeps forgetting her name. He mostly calls her "cat".
Ian was never right in his head, even from birth. When his mother died at early age, he was heartbroken. In hopes of cheering him up, his father began buying him a lot of novels, giving him his first interest in the supernatural. He was raised away from the public in their mansion, spending a lot of his childhood years simply reading, or running around in the garden, pretending to be aliens and wizards, dreaming of a world greater than this one.
They attempted to put him in a normal school, but it was discovered to be a bad idea, as he had the entire class convinced he was a fantastic alien wizard from the planet of Bob by the end of the week. His father then decided to hire a teacher, so that Ian could learn the things he needed to work at his father's business. As he was decided to be a bad influence on other children, he seldom ever met anyone, which is why he developed a close relationship to his older brother Joseph, a much more social, and considerably less eccentric, young man.
Their father sadly passed away when Ian was twenty years old, leaving the business in the hands of their brother. Joseph was, thankfully, ready for the job, and runs the business nicely six years later, with Ian by his side.. Now and then.
