A kindhearted and terrifying alien.
Tark's human form stands about 6 ft above the ground, and looks to be the average build of a man closing in on his 30s. He wears simple clothing - a thin black sweater, sweatpants and a leather jacket. His clothes are also slightly stained, mostly because he's been wearing them since he arrived on earth a week ago. Nobody told him one is supposed to change clothing now and then. His hair is light blonde and cut short with slight aftergrowth, and his beard appears to be much darker. His eyes are light green and kind, though often glazed with a very confused look. He took his form from the first human being he found, the late Marcus Williams, an unfortunate fellow who found himself being robbed in the wrong alley at the wrong time.
Tark's real form however, is a whole different story. The best explanation I can give, is that it looks very much like this: LINK
Yes, that's a picture of a mindflayer, but I promise you his species are different. Just imagine a gang of sentient, green/blue/purple, squid-heads, really.
More notes on his species:
- They don't sweat, but they require extra liquid every day. If they go past a week without a certain amount, much more than a human being is used to, they'll dry out and die.
- They're incredibly fond of seafood, strangely enough.
- The entire race is made up of beurocrats, and almost everything you want to do will require duplicated forms stamped by four different superiors and acknowledged by a witness. Nobody knows why they sent one of the few absent-minded people to investigate Earth. Hrmf.
- They have an ability to control fluids, to a certain extent.
- Emotions are to be suppressed. Law and order before chaos and feeling.
- They can breathe under water, even in the (borrowed) human form.
Tarklotaz is the first of his species to arrive on earth and is, naturally, very confused about the entire ordeal. His behaviour doesn't differ much from a slightly dumb human being, as he can quickly grasp the purposes of certain things. He understands the meaning of a car, and has a special relationship to a good cup of coffee (a long story dealing with the local starbucks, just don't ask), yet there are still a lot of things he has to learn about. Among them, many of the things one can find in a normal home, seeing as he has spent most of his time on the streets of New York.
The alien is talkative, kind, and polite. The poor fellow has yet to learn the difference between truth and lie, which often gets him into awkward situation when he open-heartedly admits that he's not of this world. Even though he very much enjoys to observe people through conversation, it isn't unnatural for him to fall silent, staring at nothing for a small while - perhaps missing his home, or simply sorting the information he has been given.
He's still getting used to human emotions, an experiment he saw necessary so that he can fully comprehend human behaviour.
He's got a bit of money that he was lucky enough to find in a cup, and has managed to understand their use.
He was born at his home planet in an unknown galaxy far, far away (though not that far away), as a happy little squid-faced hermaphrodite. His parents were barely present through his childhood - as is normal where he's from. Neither did he have many friends, but he likes to think that the few he had are the ones that count.
Now, in his early adulthood, it was suddenly decided that he was the right person for investigating Earth. He arrived about a week ago, and has already begun his close observance of human kind. He's been shocked by their cruelty and amazed by their kindness, and is, all in all, very confused about it all.
