~ Vega Delacroix ~
Vega laughed herself; yeah, that was funny. She had made the joke herself after all, so it was perfectly understandable for him to imagine something like that. No bother. I guess this is what it feel like to be a somewhat normal teenager, isn’t it? Being able to actually joke around and not having anything to worry about. . . . she thought; the thought itself was a rather melancholy one, but it wasn’t as if it weren’t true. With everything that Vega had gone through in her life; with the worry about her secret, her powers over fire, those people trying to find her, and herself possibly hurting someone she might be close to. . . .
It wasn’t like she were a girl who exactly had a lot of time to joke around, or even have friends. Even if Mitch wasn’t exactly a friend, it was nice to at least be able to joke around a little bit like that, and actually act her age. To be sixteen for once. She tried to take a step toward his bathroom, but found her herself stepping on the legs of her borrowed pants . . . yeah, she was going to have to cuff those up some, wasn’t she? Yeah, I don’t feel like tripping, so it might be a good idea to do that soon. Vega shook her head with a sigh; enough had already happened to her tonight, last thing she felt like doing was tripping over herself. She went ahead and folded her sodden clothes up, and set them on the floor like Mitch had said.
Truthfully, if she were more confident in her abilities over fire, she would have just used her ability to control heat and dried them right then and there; although, there wouldn’t have been anyway for her to rationally explain that . . . plus there was the off-chance she would somehow manage to make them spontaneously combust. It had happened to her before. And it was certainly one road that Vega did not feel like going down twice, accidently burning your own shirt wasn’t exactly fun~
As soon as morning dawned, Vega was gone. No need to put Mitch in danger after he had helped her out, right? Her very existence was a threat to anyone around her, whether the threat came from her lack of proper control, or those people who might be lurking around any corner at any moment. Neither of the two were good, and if she were around for someone too long, Vega knew she could just harm them. She didn’t want that, she didn’t want to be responsible for harming anyone ever again. . . .
She walked back out into the living area of Mitch’s apartment, a melancholy smile on her face. He offered her food, and a coke, but she just took the coke. Vega just didn’t feel hungry at the moment . . . a mix of disgust regarding what almost happened to her earlier, and thinking about why it was she didn’t have any friends, and what a bother she was. “Again; thanks for the offer, but I’m not really hungry.” She told him, still smiling in that rather sad way.
Leaning up against the wall behind her, she slid down until she was sitting again; her arms went around her legs, her head upon the tops of her knees. Things would be back to normal once she left in the morning; idly avoiding everyone around her, keeping herself in check and perhaps a few minor spats with Len. No friends, not being able to joke around so simply. Setting the can of soda on the ground next to her, Vega reach back and grabbed onto her hair; and made quick work of putting it back into a braid, tying the end off with a ponytail holder she had around her wrist. She let it hang over her shoulder before going back to resting her head upon her knees.
Soon enough, everything will be as it is suppose to. she told herself.
