Introduction
They live off of Atlias needing little more than what She can provide them. All animals came from Her so it is no crime to return them there if the right words are said and appropriate rituals made, nothing can be taken from Her in vain. The wolves have many ways in which they explain birth, life and death, each has been handed down from generation to generation for as long as they can remember. One of the most important is to love every natural thing, and that Atlias can be harsh to those who are ignorant of her, and if she loves you enough she will take you from the land and return you to her.
An old legend that commonly flits around the tribes is that of the wolf men, when hundreds of years ago a foreign beast threatened the land and the chosen of the tribes could freely shift between man and wolf form to fight off the invader and keep Atlias safe from harm. It is said that if ever such a threat arrives again Atlias shall make the same change in a few chosen men and that they will be the only ones who can bring peace.
Now there are white shapes on the eastern horizon where one large tribe resides, the tribe there are worried as these shapes could be clouds but are perhaps too rectangular, too perfect. There is talk that they are not of natural origin but all the tribe can do is sit and wait. A few days later and large structures made from strangely shaped wood are landing on the beach, men in shining outfits are jumping from them holding sticks that spout thundering stones. The people of the eastern tribe have been watching them for days as the strangers set up their own camp a little further into the forest, it took a final sign to show that these men were dangerous when the son of the chief suddenly turned into a wolf, the first the people had ever seen.
These newcomers are trouble and the people of the Atlias are going to do everything they can to be rid of them.
--------------------
It had been a long time since the crew of The Legacy had left their home country Llewellyn in search of a new world, and new adventures. The men on board were a scouting crew intent on setting up a camp and seeing whether or not they would be able to survive there. In fact the new world proved beautiful, there were already so many possibilities for new cities and a new way of life that the men were becoming excited when one came screaming from the woods, claiming to have seen shadows flitting through the trees.
Over the next few days more and more sightings of human shaped shadows were reported and the settlers began to suspect that they were not alone. By the nineteenth day another ship arrived and women and children came to live with their men, the new city was already underway when women reported seeing a large wolf like creature.
And then the killings started.
--------------------
Basically an ancient tribe is living near the eastern sea board of Atlias when a band of human settlers arrive. The settlers are very much like we would have been just before the Victorian period, they can build houses and roads, they have guns, they discriminate against those different from them. Llewellyn is a large industrial country that is going through a slump in economy so settlers are moving to Atlias (They call it New World for the moment) to start a new and better life. The problem is that the land there has some magical properties as it turns a few people from the ancient tribe into large wolves who want to scare the settlers away.
This RP will begin about two months after the settlers arrive, the killings have been happening for the last month but the settlers are refusing to leave. You are either a person of the ancient tribe, a Wolf Man (Or woman, although women who can change into wolves are also called Wolf Men) or a settler.
There is not a restriction on the amount of characters I will accept however the chief’s son spot will need to be filled, I will play the chief when he is needed and put a profile up for the chiefs daughter when others have been posted. The chief only has two children and both are wolf men, however a few others in the tribe have also been chosen.
This RP follows the story of the tribe and the settlers as the settlers discover that there are people just like them living on Atlias. They must now come together in either war or peace, but this can only be decided by you.

OOC Notes
He watched as Jimi looked up from the children and caught him looking, she offered a smile as she came towards him, bare feet padding against the earth. He had not really seen her all day, then again since the settlers arrived she was often missing, he could not talk to her about it though as even before the settlers she spent long days away from her tribe. She always came back before nightfall though, so that he knew she was safe and could bid her goodbye before she went out with the other wolf men. She smiled as she approached and he opened his arms to her, taking her into them and holding tightly.
"Daughter, it is a joy to see you."
"I am sorry I left so early this morning Father." she pulled away and he was sad to let her go.
"Where did you go?" he wanted to know.
"Just down to the waterfall, I have quite a spot there."
---
Jimi did not like to lie to her father, but telling him she was by deep water was bad enough she was certainly not going to tell him that she had been watching the settlers in broad daylight. It was practically forbidden. Jimi smiled sweetly though, he had more things to worry about than her proximity to water.
"Are you going out tonight?" he asked, one hand on her shoulder holding her tight. He wasn't looking at her, more like through her. She hated the way he did that.
"Of course, someone has to protect us." she told him, then turned her head as she heard the drums starting up. This was it, the wolf men were to leave now. Her father gave her shoulder a final squeeze.
"May Atlias guide you tonight." he trailed his hand through her hair.
"And you father, always." were her last words before she turned away to join the gathering wolves, there were seven of them all together, two girls and five boys. Some stripped off right there and transformed into their magnificent wolf forms, Jimi preferred to be in the forest first, or not to transform at all. The drums stopped abruptly and the ones who wanted to moved into the forest, Jimi went with them as they all split into different directions. Some anticipated the blood they would taste. Jimi hated the idea.
OOC Notes
The ring around his figher itched. For a moment his mind played a trick on him, making him think his father was somehow looking back at him from the darkness. The old man would've been pleased to know this. He wasn't here though. A part of Reinhart almost wished he was. This land was wild, untamed and unfit for somebody with as little experience as him. They didn't seem to think like that back home though. To them this land seemed full of opportunity and hidden treasures. Optimistic fools.
This place would need a lot of work before it could be as wealthy and developed as Llewellyn. This work would have to come from people like him apparently. A lot of the people he had met so far seemed fearful and hesitant. If there was one thing they didn't need right now it was fear and hesitation! Perhaps his father was wise to send him here. Perhaps he could push them into greatness.
At the very least he could hope to push himself into greatness. A smile appeared on his face as the candle was blown out by a gust of wind from the window. Soon he would be able to go out into this New World. As soon as his job offer for a guide, escort and hunter was taken up by somebody he would be able to move more freely. It would only be a matter of time before he would conquer it.
During his first night on Atlias he finally started seeing the potential of the land.
OOC Notes
He was distracted as the drums suddenly rumbled, telling them that it was finally time to go.
He looked around the group of wolves as they gathered together, a confident look in his eyes as he looked over each of the chosen. They knew what they were supposed to do, and he trusted each and every one of them to do their jobs well. Some leapt off in their wolf forms straight away, a couple wandering off into the depths of the trees first, Jimi and himself leaving last.
They all split up, aiming to cover different areas of ground. Tonight, Karr was taking on the waterfall and river areas. As he passed through a shadow, he took on his wolven form, a bulk of muscle clad in sleek dark fur. He didn't want to be seen in his human form, he'd spark the settlers interest rather than scare them back and out of Atlias.
He wandered quietly through the trees, keeping to the shadows and looking for anything suspicious that would indicate a settler near by.
OOC Notes
"Right, you four, with me. We are going heading north. Make sure every man has a musket." William ordered, indicating the four men from the group that had gathered. He checked his own gun, making sure each end of the match was burning, ready to fire at a moments notice. He also wound his pistol, his fail safe weapon should his musket fail. With that, he led the small party out of the northern gate from the paliside enclosure. Since the fence had gone up, it had been kept under constant watch, and now the only reports of murder had been on the outside of the fence, not inside. And they were always after dark.
Approaching a small clearing, the came to a small group of deer. He signaled the men to surround the area, and bit off the end of the paper cartridge he had been carrying. Pouring the powder and shot down the muzzle of the barrel, he cocked the hammer, put in the smoldering match, and fired. A clean shot. While other men tried to catch the other deer, William moved in on the deer, finishing it with his knife. He signaled another man over to help him, and looked up at the sky again. Fifteen minutes until dark. They had to hurry.
OOC Notes
She came to a clearing where men in strange clothes had gathered, each holding a stick. She sunk back into the shadows, her hand over her mouth as her eyes fell on the carcass of a deer. They'd slain it in cold blood, it was wrong to kill unless the proper words were said, and she bet that they did not know the right words. Anyone else would have killed them, but she found herself interested in what they were doing to the deer. She wiped a tear from her eye as she watched, she had her hand over her mouth still when she said the words under her breath that would allow the deer to reach Atlias safely.
OOC Notes
Helping a man with the deer, William took turns with him shoulding it through the woods, the other three looking into the trees, one on each side, and one behind. The last of the light was fading, and he realized we still had a decent way to go.
"Did any of you grab a lantern?" William said, glancing back at them.
"Aye sah, here is one. Though it dosn't have too much oil, I would say enough for ten minutes." the man bringing up the back said.
"That leaves us the last five minutes in the dark. We should be in sight of the colony by then. Light it." William replied.
Seconds later, a yellow light filled the forest, casting odd shadows off every crevice and corner. This of course made everyone wary, and the pace was picked up.
OOC Notes
He moved in the general direction of the sound, in an attempt to find the group of settlers and dispell them if they hadn't been dealt with already. He picked his steps carefully, aiming to be as quiet as possible as not to alert the settlers of his approach.
OOC Notes
But she did not, instead she moved in front of them, finding that they werent doing anything of major interest, besides from in front of them she could see the strange light much better. She watched the leader, they moved fast now, making so much noise she was surprised that a wolf had not found them yet. Then again she had hadn't she? and that shot had been loud, how many of her tribe were close to them? She glanced around, if they saw that she had not killed the men or even tried to scare them they would be a little more than suspicious, although even she could hide from her own tribe. She'd been doing it all her life, her brother however was a little harder to hide from, but he would not tell on her. She hoped.
OOC Notes
William checked the match for the tenth time since he had passed off the deer. Still lit. Ready at a moments notice to fire. He walked slightly ahead of the group, looking back and seeing the light reflect off the men's armor. What a wonderful invention steel was. Light enough to carry around without tiring, yet strong enough to withstand a stab from a pike. Not that the natives had any weapons that sophiticated. He noticed the light was slowly dimming, and he urged the others to walk faster, which they gladly oblidged too.
Every now and then, he thought he saw or heard a tale tell snap of a branch, or a glimpse of a figure. He then passed it off as his eyes playing tricks. Once again, he took point, looking ahead through the trees for any sign of danger, trusting the others were doing their job of looking as well.
OOC Notes
She crawled low and moved fast like a fox. Hiding behind the trees and keeping her scent low so the wolf-men won't catch her seeking near the village. She soon got near the gate as she looked around saw it to be clear and climb the tree swiftly. She sat on a strong branch high up but the leaves of the wise tree hid her well. She watched as some came out of there huts with there tools, well atleast she though they were huts and tools. Her long hair fell to one side as she hunched over. She was wondering where from the sea did they came from, For moments she over heard there language as she focues on it with a buring desire to understand.
OOC Notes
As the following darkness set in, the only light was from the moon and stars in the sky, and the gentle glow of the embers on the matches of the mens muskets. He passed the deer of again, to the man who seemed two years younger than him. Will was the oldest of the group, that is not saying much considering he is twenty and the others were seventeen and eighteen. Still, that and his military experience left them inspired by him, and he naturally took that as a chance to lead. Everyone there was waiting and looking into the thinning forest for the sillohette of the gate to emerge, coupled with the higher established buildings made of stone and thatch.

William turned around and saw the right guard pointing his discharged gun at the tree, smoke still coming out of the barrel. Soon everyone stopped and was pointing their muskets in the area, nervous. "What did you see James?" William asked, looking into the trees.
"There was something in the tree. I was looking at the moon and something that moved got sillohetted." James said nervously.
"It was probably just bird, whatever it was isn't moving no more." someone else said.
"Let's just hurry and get back to the colony. This place spooks me at night." James said.
"Yes...reload your gun James, let's hurry back. I'm sure they would be glad to have this deer for dinner." William replied, walking again.
They moved passed the tree, trying to pass it off as a bird or a trick of the mind. But the mind is a pretty powerful thing, sometimes hard to control.
OOC Notes
"You heard the gunshot as well?" Reinhart asked when he finally joined the small group of men who were staring at the gate from a safe distance.
"Aye." One of them replied. The others didn't even acknowledge his presence.
"Well, let's hope that they just shot an animal and not each other then." Reinhart said undisturbed. "The dark can play terrible tricks on the minds of men."
He put the unloaded gun in his pocket and absently stared out into the blackness of the night.
OOC Notes
A few moments later, the gate swung open, the operator relieved to see that we had brought at least a deer to make up for the trouble. There were other hunting parties as well, theres not being the only one. Every time they went out, they always seemed to bring just enough food to last to the next hunt. The next shipment from Llewellyn was supposed to bring seeds and a sustainable food source, but that could take a few weeks. For now, it was whatever the men could hunt at night, and what could be foraged in the day.
William saw the stockman take the deer away to finish the cleaning, and William decided to head over to the inn before heading to his quarters. The inn always seemed to have first pick of the food from the stockman, so naturally that was the place to go for a hot meal. He removed his helmet and entered, sitting down next to the stone fireplace, leaning his gun against the wall.
OOC Notes
After watching them slowly disperse he went back to the inn but didn't feel like sleeping just yet. The fact that one of the hunters from earlier was sitting next to the fireplace also didn't make him feel sleepy. Business opportunities rarely did.
"So, tell me." He said as he approached the man. He took note of the gun standing against the wall. "Is this really the best time to hunt around here?"
He put a polite and friendly smile on his face.
OOC Notes
"No, actually it is one of the worse times to go hunting, other than the dead of night. But a colony is a colony, and a colony needs food. If your talking about out catch tonight, that was pretty minimal, we just had to head in before dark. You can see how that turned out though" William finished, indicating to the darkness of the night already setting in outside. He didn't recognize this man, he probably came off the most recent voyage.
"I don't believe I have seen you around here before, did you come off the most recent voyage?" he asked, expressing his thought.
OOC Notes
He held out his hand. This man seemed to be somebody he could talk to. There was no fear or hesitation in his eyes. There was curiosity and a sense of adventure in them though. It seemed to him that (even at this hour) there was a big opportunity for business here.
OOC Notes
"So, why did you decide to come to the New World? Adventure, family, money, desire to serve the Crown, what was it?" he continued. This new man seemed confident in what he was doing, though what that was William knew not.
OOC Notes
"It's late and I have no doubt you deserve your rest so I will keep this short." He went quiet for a moment as he fumbled with his ring and stared into the fire.
"I am a business man, mister Krypt, and I see great potential in this New World." He eventually said and turned to William. "Just bringing in food already seems to be a problem. I have a plan but I think I need your help realizing it."
He reached into a pocket and pulled out a small, metal contraption with a metal jaw and a simple triggering mechanism between the sharp teeth.. "This is a fully automatic, mechanical trap." He handed it to William. "The real ones are a little bit bigger of course. You may have seen these being used back home but they're not very popular. Of course...back home we don't have as few people and as urgent of a need for some fresh meat."
He paused for a moment. "I have a few dozen of these things in a crate in my room. If you help me put them out there and scare some of these creatures into walking into them we will all be feasting like kings for the coming months. That should be more than enough time to expand our still modest colony and turn it into a modest economic powerhouse."
OOC Notes
He layed the device on the table, and set it off using his knife, satisfied as it snapped together coupled with a loud sound, which drew attention to their table. Seemed to be a bit of an improvement over the ones he was using five years ago, the arming device was much simpler. It made him think of what a Native would think if they caught their foot stuck in it. One thing is for sure, they sure wouldn't be coming around anymore for the killings. At least, not silently.
"Tell you what, I'll run your plan by a few of the boys, maybe even the govenor, if they like it, I'll personally help you set them out. I don't know about turning this place into a powerhouse, but who knows, it may help with our native problem." William said, handing the disarmed trap back to him.
OOC Notes
The device snapped together again, nearly taking one of the man's fingers with it, but he hardly seemed to notice. "I would really appreciate that. I haven't had that much luck getting in touch with the local government. They are quite understandably busy."
"But when you mention this 'native problem'...does that mean you are confirming the rumors of there being an indigenous human population in these lands? I must admit I didn't really believe it when people first told me about these apparently magical beings." He put the model trap back in his pocket and gave the ex-soldier a questioning look.
OOC Notes
"In any case, if push come to shove, we have the technology, they don't. Guns, germs, and steel, that is what it comes down to. We'll just wipe them out if they try to take up arms. Not saying I enjoy that kind of thing, but if that is what it come to, it's best to be ready." William continued.
OOC Notes
"From what I've heard they are more likely to be a new species of animal. Though you are undoubtably better informed than I am." He turned serious. "Perhaps I simply don't want to believe people rip other people to shreds with their teeth just for coming a little close to their territory."
He looked into the fire and tried to imagine how a human would look if they could do that. The result was very much like some of the pictures he had seen in a book about the legendary creatures of old.
