Introduction

The year is 2020.
On November 19th, the terrorists send their final message to the government, telling them that they have one hour until they release the toxic gas all over the country. At noon of that day, over 300 jets fly over the United States, each carrying 10, barrel shaped, capsules of the dangerous chemical. The terrorists haven't told them how dangerous the gas is, or what it does, but once the capsule hits the ground, it releases a foul smelling odor, and a bright green smoke. It spreads over a large mass of land in less than five minutes, and seems to be killing anyone over 20 years of age. Few people older than 20 are alive, hiding underground after hearing the horrible news in small bomb shelters.
In a matter of minutes, the fumes kill anyone with a developed enough circulatory system. The fumes enter the people's mouths and noses and make their way into the circulatory system and enter the heart. Once the heart is introduced the gas, the heart stops immediately, and kills the person.
All buildings have been put into lockdown. All doors locked, all windows shut, and no way in or out. The story takes place in South Ridge High School, where about 600 kids attend High School. As the students realize the terror of the bombs, and the fact that some will die in 6 years at the most. How will the students react to having a school to themselves, no adults, no rules, and a limited amount of supplies, like food and medicine. Will they try to appoint a leader, form in to groups and every man for themselves, or slowly kill each other one by one...

OOC Notes
Now Jessica wasn't sure what was happening. All the teachers and adults in the school had run outside to see what was happening but they hadn't returned. The television in the office was tuned to The Good Morning America Show and it was showing people suffocating and the adults on the show were in terror, "What's going on?!" She asked some people who were passing by, also confused and not sure of what to do.
OOC Notes
He didn't care what the teachers said. He went to the janitors closet and opened the door. Seeing the small window towards the ceiling, Cody stacked some boxes up and stood on them to look out the window. The window was too small to climb out of, but it showed Cody what was going on. It was Genocide.
Adults, workers, bankers, lawyers. All of them lay dead in the streets. Cars were crashed into poles, crinkling the hoods and smashing in windows. Some lay on the floor peacefully, others with blood streaming out of their skin. The world began to spin for Cody, and he toppled off of the stack of boxes, throwing up as he fell.
Quickly, Cody composed himself and changed shirts with the one in his backpack from Gym class. Exiting the Janitors closet and closing the door behind him, Cody ran to the Office to try to find the intercom system. Cody pushed people out of the way, and ran as fast as he could. The others needed to know the truth.

Eli stood up, keeping her head held high as walked towards her locker. She put in her combination and opened the metal orange door. She grabbed her purse and headed to the girl's bathroom. She turned on the cold water from the sink, taking deep breaths. She splashed the ice cold water on herself to prove that this wasn't as nightmare; that is was real. She wiped the water off of her face with a brown paper towel. Eli dug through her purse, trying to find her cell phone. She punched in her father's number number, but she received no service. She walked around the halls of the school trying to get bars so she could make sure her father and brother were alright, they were the only family she had.
OOC Notes
Finally she tore her eyes away from the nightmarish scene, turned, and sped down the hall. Frightened kids moved out of her way. Her friends called her name, but she ignored them.
"Lily! Lil-" She barreled on past. She didn't know here she was going or why, but she knew she needed to be alone. At least for a little while.
Ideas were popping up in her head. She should get to the safety supplies, in the office. That way they might be prepared for whatever hell had waiting for them.
She saw a mop and a bucket of cloudy water sitting in the halls. She took up the mop, in case she needed to protect herself. People in emgency situations would do anything to keep themselves alive, even if it meant the death of others.
She didn't want to be the victim.
Gasping for air and gipping the wooden handle, she skidded to a stop on the linoleum. "Oh.. " The office's back door. She could see there was movement inside, and wildly she thought that there were some alive adults in there. Except for the motionless body in front of the door. Was it a trampled kid or an adult, she couldn't tell.
Fearfully she backed against the wall, terrified. If there was one thing Lillian couldn't handle it was dead bodies.
She knew she had to use thue door. The front would take too long to get to, and if someone had the same idea as her..
She felt frozen in fear. "S-someone help me .."
She turned the broom handle, wondering if she'd have to use it to move the body aside. Her stomach turned at the thought. She tried to man up, took the stick and thrust at the unmoving man.
He rolled over, and blood touched the edge of Lillian's shoes. She shrieked, jumped back and careened into the wall.

A pocketful of posies
"Ashes, Ashes"
We all fall down!
Something inside Tia's head had caused her to look out the window with the others. She gasped and clamped her hands over her mouth, looking down at the dead bodies littering the town outside the school. The nursery rhyme played through her head, all too happily as she backed away from the windows and chaos erupted around the small girl. She cowered in a corner of the biology lab as teens flew out of the room or fainted. She herself was not quite sure how to react to all of this. So the threats had been true, and now the adults would all die.
"No more order I guess," she mumbled, walking slowly out of the classroom. She stood in the door way, examining the flood of panicked students, some who were even younger than her. The hallways are even more crowded, Tia thought, unwilling to be swept away by the steady stream of hysteria. She noticed that one teen was aggressively pushing through the crowd, a determined and horrified look on his face.
"Hey you!" she called, knowing that he likely wouldn't hear her. The blue haired girl bit her lip and plunged into the horde, trying to follow the boy. Maybe he could help her. Tia wasn't exactly looking forward to dying.

"Tell me they're just sleeping," Jake said, trying to make a joke in the horrid situation. "They just passed out for a bit and will be fine. You'll see." He glanced at the anxious kids around him, all calling and texting their family and friends. The blank looks on their faces were painful to look at. You knew who had to find out the hard way that their parents were dead.
"Dude, they're not sleeping," one of his friends said, turning away from the window of the second floor and walking around the classroom. Jake ignored him as he often did with Tia, frowning. "At least I didn't die, huh?" he asked a girl next to him, who just turned away and pouted. Couldn't they try to pretend this was funny? Or at least, not as serious as it really was? That was the teen's approach to most things, and it helped him a lot. At least he believed it did. He didn't know that most people thought he was a jerk.
OOC Notes
Once she was out of the pool of people, she ran to the door to exit the school. At her horror, adults were banging their fists against the windows begging for help. Jessica screamed and started sobbing. She pulled against the doors with as much force as she could but it was no use. It was locked from the outside and the people out there were to weak to unlock it. The cloud of gas darkened the sky and made it hard to see anything, "Somebody help me! There are people out there suffering!!" She kept pulling the door but it wasn't doing anything in her favor.
OOC Notes
Eli's empty stomach grumbled, but she ignored it. She knew she could just get up and walk to the cafeteria to get herself an apple, but she figured that if the lights went out, she would want to be near people, her friends especially.
Eli continued to make different motions with her hands, rubbing her finger nails together; chipping the black nail polish. She stared down at the tilted floor, trying to bring heat by hugging herself with her leather jacket. "Dammit." She swore when she broke a nail, a bit of blood spilled so she just simply wiped it off. She stood on top of the desk that she was sitting on, bringing attention to herself. She spoke over the reporter on the TV, "Okay. Does anyone know what the hell is going on?" She asked no one particular. She received looks, shrugs, weeps and whispers of "no".
OOC Notes
Landon stayed still, sitting at his desk as his peers jumped out of their seats and scrambled out of the room, freaked out by this whole mess. Landon had somewhat frozen up as he witnessed his teacher quickly have a heart attack and die within seconds. This had happened after the fire alarms had been sounded and they had been notified that there was a code yellow and that all teachers should evacuate from the students. He had been pacing the room, confused at what was happening, as all the students jumped out of their seats and made their way to the windows to look outside. He had died within minutes after being told over the intercom, and now he had been dead for about ten minutes.
The rest of the students had peered outside, seeing the devastating scene of many dead human beings and animals. Cars crashed into light poles and telephone poles. A car had even ran into a house. It was a scene from a horror movie almost, and Landon couldn't believe his eyes. He had no idea what to do, and once he finally grasped what was happening, he got out of his seat and quickly made his way to his locker.
As Landon moved out the door, he turned the corner and suddenly tripped over a body. The man was in the FBI, and he had died like all the other adults, his eyes still open in shock, bloodshot and white skin. Landon looked him over. He had a small gun in his left hand. For a second, Landon thought about taking it, just in case. These kids were wild, and he needed something to protect himself. He was alone in the hallway since he was on the top floor and most of the kids had moved down.
Landon knelt down, picked up the gun out of his cold, dead hands, and then closed the mans eyes, feeling uneasy from the sight. He then shoved it in his pocket after putting it in safety and then slowly continued through the school.

"If you want to help, I'd suggest helping me find the intercom system!" He shouted before entering the dark office room.
All of the lights were out. Using his memory as a guide, Cody tried to grope his was through the dusty office. He had to feel his way over large objects on the floor, which he didn't feel like checking. Just as he thought he found the intercom, however, he tripped over something on the floor and fell down on his back. Something was moving the way that he had come from. Was it Tia? He didn't want to take the chance. Cody flattened himself to the ground, hoping that whatever it was would simply pass over. He felt stupid laying there, but had no idea what was going on. Could it be some sort of Zombie Parasite? No...people don't just die from that? Maybe some military experiment? Cody had no idea. He tried to piece together what evidence he had as he lay on the ground with the other dead bodies, feeling the footsteps almost on top of him now.

Eli got up from the desk and started walking around the classroom. She ran her hand through her black wavy hair, thinking about how many lives were lost. It reminded her of September 11th all over again. Eli wasn't alive at that time, but her father would tell her stories about happened. This wasn't knew to Eli, she had a strong stomach, she saw millions of gory horror movies, but she still felt like cuddling up in a dark corner and screaming. Or maybe she wanted to cry, she didn't know.
She left the room, wondering the hallways again. She saw someone take a gun from a dead man and close his eyes. She kept walking, keeping her hand against the wall. Her black converse were silent against the grey tiles of the hallways. Her bright blue eyes were blazing, she saw so many people hugging and crying.

She continued in the direction as Cody, knowing where to find the intercom. No, she wasn't always in there because she was a bad kid, but because she helped out the teachers sometimes. She would have called out to him, but she wasn't quite sure what his name was. She didn't want to make him mad by calling him by the wrong name.
"Ahh! What the-?" Tia had tripped on an adult body and then fallen right on top of Cody. "Oh crap," she muttered, not knowing it was him and thinking it was a dead person. Sucking in a breath of air, she pushed herself up and off of him and stood up.
***
Jake left the room, pushing his way through the crowd. He looked around, then continued down a flooded staircase. At the end of one of the halls, he could see a girl desperately trying to open the doors and let some dying adults in. The last thing they needed were more dead bodies. The girl then backed away and fell. Looks like he had play the handsome doctor now.
The arrogant teen continued to push through the crowd before reaching her, kneeling down beside her. "Hey, you ok?" he asks lamely, knowing that any sane person would not be alright in a situation like this.

"Well, I guess this counts as one..." Cody murmured aloud. He fumbled to hit the button that would project his voice over the entire school. After pressing it, a loud beep shot out over the hundreds of intercom speakers around the campus. Cody quickly got nervous. As class president, he typically did the announcements, but this was an entirely different scenario entirely.
"Hey, um this is Cody Richards speaking...the Senior Class President?" Cody said, hoping this would help him come across as a student body leader. "I understand the mass chaos going around, but please listen for a second."
Cody heard the crowd outside slow down and quiet. It scared him.
"In case you haven't noticed so far, all of the people outside-all adults-are, um..." Cody paused. "Dead. Or dying, one of the two. Now, I don't know what is killing them, or if it is based on age, but please, DO NOT go outside, or let others in. We do not know if this...disease...is contagious to us or not." Cody thought how to say the next bit without sounding arrogant. "Please, um, meet me in the commons area (cafeteria) and maybe we could collaborate, and, um, discuss what we need to do..."
Cody cut off the intercom. Groping around and finding the megaphone that was also in the office, Cody managed to grope around and find the door. He turned to Tia.
"Wanna help me with this?" He asked. He had no idea how these freaked out teen would react.

et lux perpetua luceat eis." She whispered. She got up and straightened herself out, trying to keep herself together.
Eli heard someone come onto the announcements, telling everyone to go to the cafeteria. She reached for her purse, clutching the straps and swinging it around her shoulder. She ran into the cafeteria. Everyone was either talking, crying, shouting or walking around. Eli ran to her group of friends, getting a giant group hug. She pulled back, waiting for someone to say something.
(( What she said in Latin translates to; "Grant them eternal rest, Lord, and let perpetual light shine on them." It's a quote from Mozart's Lacrimosa. I'm not religious or anything, I just really love that piece and quote.))

Why did this all have to happen...
Demetria sitting in the back of the pickup truck with her boyfriend Trevor. She let out a puff from her pot she held in her hand leaning her head on his shoulder. She breathed out deeply. letting the high sensations overwhelm her brain. Trevor shifted in his seat, "Guys go away!" He shouted to the bunch of friends that hung around them wrapping his arm around Demetria he pecked her lips lingering on them both tasting the weed on there lips. Pulling away he stood up jumping off the truck and helped her off.
"Demi...i uhh i never felt this way about everyone." He slightly chuckled rubbing the back of his head. His warm honey gazed eyes fell on her light blue eyes. His mouth twitched into smile as he tugged on the lip piercing. Getting on one knee shaking slightly. The sudden gasp from Demi as she covered her mouth with delight. She tried not to get giddy with over joy but it was to hard to bear. Trevor laughed pulling out a sliver ring with tiny diamonds embedded into the band. "Demi, this is a uhh... yeah listen babe its a promise ring that when you turn 18 we will ge-"
Before he could finish flighter jets flew over head. The sound barrier was loud so Trevor had to stop. the Fumes from the pot was making it all a daze. Once the sound stopped he continued not caring about the canisters that fell from the sky. "- We will get married." Tears started to pour from her eyes as she opened her mouth to talk.
The two lovers didn't realize what was happenening. As Trevor coughed loudly. Taking in a deep breath trying to clear his throat. Demi watched as the life drained out of him. Face turning instantly pale. She touched his neck; as he took a deep breath trying to push away the feelings, "Well?" He said in a raspy tone. Opening her mouth one more time he dropped to the floor.
Demi let out a horrid scream dropping to her knees crying in anguish holding onto his lifeless body shaking him, "Wake up! Please wake up!! I do, Trevor YES! Please god no.. just no." she cried over and over she struggled to help him onto the bed of the truck and laid him down as she rested her head on his chest listening to nothing except her silent weeps. Knowing she lost someone she loved.
(edit quickly sorry lol)
She heard Cody and closed Trevors eyes kissing his cheek she grabbed her bag and ring as she ran into the School before anyone noticed she was outside. Crying still she made her way to the cafeteria going into a corner and started to cry miserably wanting to go back out, waiting to see that it was all just a joke.
OOC Notes
Before he could say or do anything, she started speaking again. "So what are we supposed to do about all of this? I'm not sure we can control hundreds of panicked teens." She usually wasn't the pessimistic type, but right now it was hard to find anything positive about this situation. Tia bit her lip and looked at the ground, not that it made much of a difference.
***
He was silent as Cody came on over the intercom, asking everybody to remain calm and head towards the cafeteria. "Come on, let's go," Jake said, pulling the girl up, then dragging her along with him as the rest of the kids began whispering, then talking, and then yelling again as they walked. He crammed himself into the cafeteria, standing in the back and letting go of Jessica. He felt like a hero... Kind of...
Looking around, he didn't see any signs of Tia. Where was she? She wasn't the type to ditch school, so she had to be here somewhere. It shouldn't be that hard to spot a short, skinny, blue haired girl should it?
OOC Notes
Cody raised the megaphone up to his face. "O-Ok, so I know that we are all kind of freaking out right now, so I'll just tell you what I know. We have seen canisters falling from the sky, obviously from the Terrorists. They have been emitting this greenish gas and so far most all of our teachers are, um, dead..."
Cody let that sink in.
"So, um, I do not think that we are quite affected by this as much, since I have yet to see a dead teenager laying around, but I'm not sure yet. I think as a body, we need to decide what to do at this point..." Cody took a deep breath. "Any suggestions?"

He nodded at Eli's remark to lock themselves in. "That may work. Any other suggestions?"
OOC Notes
She looked up at Cody, making sure he was ok. She felt like his assistant, which wasn't unusual for her. She just wasn't used to being the assistant of a kid. "What about food? The cafeteria food here sucks and won't last us forever. Sooner or later, we'll have to venture outside for food," Tia pointed out. She flinched as her brother came up and hugged her tightly. "Jake," she hissed, feeling embarrassed.
***
Jake was not amused by the kid's attempt to maintain order. He also felt annoyed with the girl who had called out, but did feel a tinge of guilt, since she had said she'd lost her boyfriend. He considered following her out, but then he spotted the small blue haired girl up by the stage. Tia! She was alive! Forgetting everything else, he rushed forward through the crowd until he was by the stage. He automatically gave her a bear hug. He released her and grinned, then stepped back a bit. He knew that his "twin" found him annoying, but he found himself rather amazing and interesting.
OOC Notes
She ran into the gynasium and found the bleachers pulled out and she crawled under there and just weeped feeling that cold lonlyness rush over her and she just sighed knowing that's how she was gonna feel for a long time. Alone. she placed the ring in her pocket as she just whimpered and cried. missing his warmth around her.
OOC Notes
"Umm...I think that we should ration food right now to make sure we have enough. I don't know how safe it is outside now nor if there are any survivors. For now, I guess that we should try to ration food, and figure out sleeping for tonight, then make the bigger decisions tomorrow. Now, I'm not going to force you all into any of this, so if you think this is a good plan, just, um, raise your hand....I guess..." Cody felt awkward telling his classmates what to do, but he didn't want to just let chaos continue in the midst of this apocalypse.
