Lillith heard a knock on the door and put down her book to answer it. Two policemen were standing in the doorway.
"Good afternoon Ms.Vanguard, is Mr.Hugo here?" "No he's not," Lillith said, confused. "What's this about?" "Wendy Lucas was found dead this morning, she was killed last night on Halloween. Her body was lying on top of a pentagram, and since your step-father is the leader of the Wiccans here, we wanted to ask him a few questions." Lillith bristled. "Adam is the leader of the coven, yes," She corrected. "But I'm sure he knows nothing about this murder. And since you cannot question a minor without an adult present, your time is done here." She slammed the door in their faces and sank to the floor. She didn't know that well, except that she was an overachiever and a grade below her. One thing was for certain. She had to prove Adam had nothing to do with it.

Dustin was on his way up the front steps to Adam and Lilith’s house when he stopped right in front a police officer. And not just any officer, a one he knew quite well. He took a step back and stood with his arms crossed. “What is going on?”

“It’s good to see you too Dustin. Just not here. Are you apart of this coven?” the officers voice was low and serious.

“Yeah, I am what’s it to you? It’s helping me get my life on track.” His chin lifted a little and his arms dropped to his sides. He wasn’t going to deal with this bull he hadn’t done anything wrong. Not lately any way.

“Listen closely boy. There was a murder and this coven is linked to it. There is nothing about a coven that can put someone’s life on track.” The other mans voice was filled with venom, as if he detested the thought of a coven being near him. “We, will figure this out, and since you are a member your first on our list because of your history.”

“That’s Bull!” He walked around the officers and to the door calling to them over his shoulder as he knocked. “I won’t let you question me, so get lost.”

"ADAM," Lillith yelled at the top of her lungs. He was beside her in an instant. "I heard everything. ," He said, "You shouldn't have been so disrespectful, that makes them suspicious." She bowed her head. "I'm sorry." He wrapped his arms around her waist. "Its ok, I'm your step-father, and I forgive you." She roughly pushed his hands away. "As my step-father, you should keep your hands off me!" He threw her to the ground angerly, but before he could do anything else the doorbell rang. He went to go answer it, and Lillith got up off the floor, sat on the couch, and glared at the wall.
