To Sail The Seven Seas

To Sail The Seven Seas Open

The Dragon's Knave is now accepting crew members! Although, they're a rough bunch. Lots of secrecy, pain, and even death on the high seas, and nowhere to run...

To Sail The Seven Seas

Image

Welcome; if you have received this, you have agreed to be hired as a crew member of my ship, The Dragon's Knave. Assuming you are receiving this in good health, we shall depart in three days from Giule, the main port city of the empire Yave.

You are expected to be on board with your belongings at 0900 sharp; if you are late, we will cast off without you (unless you're the cook), because you really aren't that important. I won't lie to you; this will be a dangerous journey. There are many risks associated, including piracy, drowning, starvation, storms, food poisoning, and disease. It doesn't matter; you agreed to this, therefore you must not complain.

Your quarters are small and confined, in the center of the ship. You should only bring with you a few sets of clothing and your weaponry. It can be dangerous on the high seas, so I would advise bringing both a sword and a musket, should you have them.

The ship is relatively small, compared to some of the vessels out there. Our cargo will be stored in the hold below the deck; if you are found in the hold, you will be imprisoned for the duration of the journey and executed upon our arrival on dry land.

As for your payment, this will be a percentage of our trip's profit; this will be given to you upon arrival back at Giule.

Sincerely,
Captain Johannus Clark

Story

You are a mercenary, a chef, a sailor down on your luck, a warrior. You are a person. It doesn't matter, once you're on board The Dragon's Knave. This ship, complete with the mysterious Captain Johannus Clark, is your new home, and the high seas is your new life.

Each member of the crew has a different secret, a different past, and a different reason for leaving it all behind to go on this journey, which will take the crew from the kingdom of Yave to Firndina and back, toting a shipful of valuable goods and gold. Of course, they're not as willing to share their past as others are, and you'll have to take the time to discover what it is about them that makes them tick.

This trip should take several months of your lives, and it is risky business. And not just because death is such a real possibility; the profit itself depends on your travels. It is possible that you could gain nothing from your hard work and pain.

Information

The roleplay will be set in a world equivalent to 17th century Europe, called Drakoon. For the equivalent, you can say that Yave is roughly Spain and Firndina is India. There is the land of Heathos, which is basically Africa. Also, there is the enemy kingdom of Gordon which is competing to travel the world.

This is not intended to be a short roleplay; you will have to stick it out to the end. If you must quit, we can easily just have your character die in an accident. Likewise, if you want to join midway through, just claim that your character is from an upcoming port, or that they are a castaway and we'll take them in.

For the sake of roleplaying with some added interest, the society of Yave is more equivalent than that of the Exploration Age. Women, while not respected as fully as in other societies, are permitted to be mercenaries and sailors and such. It is expected that some of the crew will be women.

Rules

1. I am the GM. Blah. It's sad that I have to add this, but this means please don't waste my time by talking back I don't accept your character. I have my reasons, and I'll only tell you if you ask really nicely.
2. No Godmoding.
3. Creativity is great.
4. For this RP, you may only play one character. (PM me if you want more than one, and we'll talk). An unlimited number of people can join, and at any time. But if we're already a long ways into the RP, you may have to ask and/or wait for an opening in the plot.
5. Do not play someone who is OP'd. Your character can be a genius shot or navigator or thief, but he can't be all three.
6. Interesting characters are key; create a traitor! Someone who's seasick! Someone who has some embarrassing secret. They can't all be running away from reminders of dead lovers or people who want to kill them.
7. Romance? Allowed, but don't get explicit.
8. Same on violence and cursing. Keep it moderate. I know that this is an RP about sailing, but I don't want to feel like clawing my eyes out at explicit material.
9. Post characters in the tab, even though I'll be using the forums for the IC. If I haven't RPd with you in a while, I'd like you to PM me a recent sample post. Or, if you don't have a good one, an introductory post!
10. Please read about the accepted characters; I will not be accepting duplicates.
11. Let me know if you're leaving town, or just leaving the RP.
12. If you don't post within two weeks of your previous post, I will declare you officially out of the RP, and your character will be NPC'd, most likely resulting in character death.
13. Post length should be at least three decent-sized paragraphs; if I accept you, that means I trust you. Don't break that.
14. Post whenever you start to get that guilty feeling in your gut, telling you that perhaps you oughta post. You figure out what that means.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Closed

So long! I'm sad to see you go Music, but it's true, real life takes priority. You'll be missed, and you're a GREAT GM for not letting this die. You're a gem! Fishies!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Closed

Farewell music, :/ and allyson will take a floatie ;) be prepared is good for a thief.

I wouldn't leave you guys with anything else. Love and fish. Heck, I'll throw in the optional blow-up floaties.... just in case. :)

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Closed

I'm sorry you have to go Music. Real life always takes priority, but you will be missed. I hope everything goes well for you and yours and I'll be here to welcome you back when you return.

Also, thanks for letting Hurricane take control of this RP. It's too good for it to just be abandoned. Your willingness to let someone take over the reigns of your creation just goes to show how skilled of an rper and gm you are.

So Mucis, so long, farewell and thanks for all the fish.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Closed

It's fine, Music. We're all sorry to see you go. :(

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Everyone. >,<

Due to an unfortunate and quite unexpected development in real life, I am deeming it necessary to take an extremely long-term hiatus. As in, a year. Sorry.

Still, I'm not leaving without making sure that my many roles and responsibilities will be covered.

  • Long story short, Hurricane is now GM of this roleplay.

  • Unfortunately, non-GMs can not edit and allow new members to post characters in others' roleplays. Therefore, you will need to add your characters to Sailing The Seven Seas, which is Hurricane's version.

  • Also, I had not had time to address many people's questions and such before the... thing... happened. So, if you PM'd me with a problem or had planned to, I would advise bringing your concerns before the new chieftain.

I really hate to do this to you guys, and I was looking forward to this RP as well. I promise to post the link to my farewell post in the new OOC, since that is where my true reason for leaving is. You guys deserve to know.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

I was considering making a character for this RP and I was wondering if you'd like me to send you an example of my RPing, as in a post I've made in another RP (or one I can make up on the spot if you like XD) to you first? I know it requests I do this, but I just wanted to ask to be 100% sure. ^^

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

At the risk of being a total jerk... IC? And I hope you get better soon Music! Being sick vacuums. Well, until IC gets up (and please to feel pressured/obligated Music) I guess I'll keep playing LOTRO. YOU SHALL NOT PAY!!!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Music wrote:I have fallen ill. This means that I can't get the IC up yet.

If I can't post this weekend, I'm sorry; I feel like crap and really need to sleep right now. I'll get to it as soon as I possibly can.

Get better, me hearty yo-ho!

Almost done all of the characters busts, just because I wanna see if I got them accurate enough. Ee-gad, busy, just got back from a wedding and now my pepere's birthday party. Cheers!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Feel better Music! It seems I'm preeetty late coming to this thread, but oh well. Hahaha.
& HAPPY TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Awe, thank you =]

Ahoy, I never knew that mate, but hopefully I be doing it correctly (Lmao)

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

I know that I'm a day early, but I'd like to wish everyone a happy International Talk Like a Pirate Day! So don't forget to talk like a pirate tomorrow me hearites!

And welcome aboard Broken&Shattered! The more the merrier!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Hey, all. Don't worry, I'm not overexerting myself. As soon as I make some IC posts in other roleplays, I should be able to write up the IC and finish my characters.

Broken&Shattered: Hey there! No, you'll need to post your character here. Copy and paste the character form from the Introduction and paste that into the Descriptions category of the Character tab. Does that explain everything?

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Question...Do I submit my character here?

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

You take care of yourself. There's nothing like pushing yourself to hard to make yourself worse. Here's to you getting better soon. Best wishes.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Ya that's okay, you can't control getting sick. Get well!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Ah okay that’s fine. I just hope you get better soon!

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

Not a problem.

Just tell us the name of the illness and we'll have it... err... terminated. Violently.

Re: To Sail The Seven Seas --- OOC/Open

It's fine, Music. We all understand. I'm sure we can wait for another few days or so.
