A cheerful man with a love for life and adventure
Basic Information
Name: Julio Sones :
Age: 22
Sex: Male
On-Ship Job: Crewman
Appearance:
Standing at 6' 1" with long sun-kissed, expressive green eyes, and a short beard, Julio is quite good-looking if he says so himself. He is lean and muscular with tanned skin from being in the sun much of the time. Julio's favorite color to dress in happens to be red, although he would accept other flamboyant colors. Always with a with smile, whether mischievous, mocking, or generally friendly, Julio still knows that he cannot coast through life with looks alone. Strapped to his side is a steel cutlass and upon his back, a pack holding his few possessions.
Personality
Personality: Julio has a generally care-free personality. He is always one to enjoy himself and, though he dislikes work, this is outweighed by his need for money and seeing the world. He often jokes a lot and is quite a flirt, believing himself to be near-irresistible to the opposite sex, though this isn't necessarily true all the time. Julio has a weakness for ale, gambling, and pretty women, but can be honorable and is loyal to his friends and those who earn his loyalty. He can be considered brave, though this may be because of his ignorance of the odds stacked against him and he is not opposed to the idea of escape or slipping away quietly.
Virtues: Respect and admiration for women, particularly pretty ones, loyalty, friendly, and forgiving of personal injury.
Vices: Julio has a weakness for gambling, drinking, sometimes smoking, and is easily susceptible pretty women. At times, he also doesn't think things through.
Skills: Julio is an excellent swordsman as he is quick with the cutlass and able to block and land a few blows. However, he is a poor shot with the pistol but competent with the cannon. His most unique traits, however, is his skill at lying, negotiating, bartering, cheating, and outright trickery when he needs to. Despite this, a pretty woman can fool him with a wink and a smile if he's not careful. He also has a good ear for languages, knowing several words in different tongues and has the potential to pick up a language easily with enough time. However, Julio is horrible with machinery and navigation at sea or in the wilderness. He is also a good thief.
Secrets: An illegitimate son of a nobleman; he has a locket he keeps around his neck with the noble's coat of arms to prove it.
Equipment: A cutlass, a locket, a single-shot but re-loadable pistol, and a few scraps of paper along with a pencil.
Past
Reason for Leaving: Julio is wanted for petty theft and also desires to see the world beyond Yave.
History: Julio was born of a servant woman working in the manor of a rich lord. Like Julio, his father could be quite charming and talked his mother into bed with him, though he had a beautiful wife at the time. Nine months later, Julio's mother gave birth to him and for about three years, he lived with his mother in the servant quarters of the manor. It was when Julio was three that the nobleman's wife noticed the resemblance between Julio and her husband as well as her husband's good treatment of him and his mother. She demanded that Julio's mother be fired and his father was forced to do so. Eventually, Julio and his mother made their way to the streets of Yave, where she looked for what work she could. Two years later, however, she died from plague and Julio was left alone. In order to survive, he joined a group of street urchins and soon became the gang's chief negotiator, either charming adults for food or coin or providing a distraction while the others pick-pocketed or stole from stalls. Eventually, Julio grew up and struck out on his own. For awhile, he was successful but dissatisfied with his life. It seemed like a sign to change when he was spotted stealing from a stall and hid himself in Yave's narrow alleys. He signed up to join the Dragon's Knave and thus began a new stage in his young life.
