Factions, Families, Clans, and Empires
Richard is a young man who is twenty three years old. He stands at 6 ft. 4 in. tall and weighs 160 lbs. He is Caucasian and has brown hair and brown eyes. His body frame, at least in upper body is extremely broad and muscular. He wears a black leather jacket, form fitting white shirt, and tan jeans. He also wears black gloves, a back belt with a silver chain, and red and black tennis shoes.
Richard is generally peaceful looking and kind acting, but when he gets irritated his temper can really flare. Despite being a guy he is extremely emotional. He used to have lots of friends, but now feels he does not since they have all gone their separate ways. When he meets Rosette he consoles her for advice and many other things since although he is smart, she seems a lot smarter in many areas including common sense. Richard is in no way a blockhead, but is either afraid to apply talents he has or does not consider how to apply them. A few of his talents or, it should be said areas of know how, include: include history, his limited ability to draw cartoons, and his love of video games. He used to smile a lot more than he does these days and participate in some of the thing listed, but does not do that as much anymore.
Richard came from a family of six people and a rather upper middle class family. He went to two private schools before heading off to college. He is in his last year of college and throughout his time there he has found himself without too many friends, or so he thought, and without much of a job, but almost a degree's worth of knowledge in history. One day at a cafe, he sees Rosette and watches him from afar. He has not never had much luck with girls, but he finds her also "fated" for him so he attempts to talk to her.
On his way home from this cafe he gets attacked by a strange, evil creature and fends it off with a bit of luck from a local garbage disposal truck while escaping and the fire powers that manifest in his hands. He runs into Rosette again and this is how things starts, at least in his eyes, for them. Richard does not know the future, but hopes everything will turn out okay.
Across the cafe, Richard sat at a window seat staring out into the cold, sunny morning of the city. Richard heard the sound of the cafe door opening, but did not look away from the window until he heard a young woman say, "Thank you," to a cafe waitress. He turned around in his seat and thought, "Such a pretty voice."
His brown eyes targeted Rosette as she sat down in a seat on the other side of the cafe seat with a cup. His eyes scanned her figure focusing on the details as she stared back at him. "Her figure's not bad either" he muttered.
Some of the things he picked up on were her brown hair, black eyes, tanned skin, but most importantly her skinny jeans and shoulders. "She's out to hunt, but how does a guy like me catch her? I'm just a boring college student."
He looked down into his lap and clenched his fists tightly. He needed to approach her, no wanted to approach her, yet couldn't. There was something so avid floating about her already, however, to step in front of her and confess his feelings would be suicide. There was no way this could be true love already in the short amount of time that he had lived.
"Sorry," he spoke loud enough for her to hear as he raised his head and gazed at her face. "I-I can't help but stop staring you're not wearing a coat today." he lied. "It's cold outside you know."
Richard stood up in his seat and walked over to hers whereupon reaching a chair and pulling it out he plopped himself down and thought, "Oh boy, she really is probably looking to hook up with guy, how do I respond? I'll start with my name I think, maybe I'll just give her a taste of my personality though."
"I suppose I am the type of guy that draws people in, but I'm a rather awful person. I don't know if you'd want to stare at me too long or even talk to me. I have a way of being emotional or temperamental if I don't get my way." he stated as he folded his hands in front of him. He smiled and added, "Oh, I've not told you my name, so you can call me Richard."
"I don't know why I came to the cafe, but I'm definitely a student. I suppose I go places when I get bored from all the work I have to do." Richard stated, "You say You're 23, well so am I. I don't turn 23 until August though, and I'm a Virgo, if you'd like to know my horoscope." Richard watched Rosette sip her latte and asked, "How can you drink coffee? It tastes horrible." Richard hated coffee and clearly expressed this as he leaned forward on the table and rested his chin on it. The girl clearly asked a lot of questions, so he decided to respond with an equal amount of comments or complaints for her.
"She's slightly different than me, but perhaps there is a good chance we can be together, even though that's probably ridiculous." Richard thought to himself as he looked at her.
"I go to some place called Leonardo University not far from here. I don't have a job though." Richard quickly stated ignoring her other comments.
(Sorry, I'm not posting much I don't usually post over 200 words sometimes and right now I'm busy.)
Richard took the napkin into his hand and watched her leave the cafe. His eyes followed her from the window until she reached the end of the street and disappeared into the crowd. He sighed and stood up and then walked out of the cafe in a slightly depressed mood. He put his hands in his pockets and kept his shoulders slouched as he headed in the same direction as her. If she saw him it would seem rather odd for him to be following her, but the truth was that he lived down in the area that she was headed towards. How could he have let such a pretty woman get away?
Then he remembered that she had clearly said what was on the napkin was her phone number. He pulled it out and unfolded the napkin. Written in black ink was definitely the numbers 583-642-7783. It was a definitely a phone number, but was it really hers? He wondered about that as he stood there reading it since some women in the world often gave the wrong numbers to men just to spite them, at least that is what he'd heard. He knew men did that kind of thing, but the frequency depended from person to person. Rosette had seemed nice enough though, so it was unlikely she had written anything to try and harm him in any way.
"No, I don't need to catch the bus I live-" Richard said when he realized Rosette was looking straight at him. His eyes shifted though to a nearby, blue painted dumpster. There was something large inside of it causing it to rattle and shake. He noticed Rosette was stepping back and said as he glanced back at her, "Do you think we should run?"
The rattling continued become more erratic and wild. Richard felt his knees beginning to shake. Just the sound of the dumpster moving was causing him to be a bit edgy and fearful. He didn't know why, but he assumed whatever was in there probably was not a cat or raccoon. He decided to walk towards it and did so slowly thinking he was going to his own death sentence.
He splayed his hand out to his side to indicate to Rosette not to come close to the garbage dumpster. He would handle what was inside of it and deal with the consequences. He was a man after all and wasn't supposed to look like a chicken in the face of danger.
Richard stood there shocked for a moment and stuttered, "What did you just do?" In front of him was a completely frozen ice sculpture. The fright of what occurred was so shocking that he fell to the ground on his boot and didn't move. He'd never seen anything like what she did before, unless... It was somehow like his own power.
"Hey," he asked curiously as he raised his hand at the frozen creature. "Is your power like mine?" His hand began to glow and from it he fired a stream of flames that incinerated the creature and completely destroyed it. The ice melted so quickly that it evaporated and only left behind a few ashes on the ground. He stood up and smirked now hoping that it was Rosette's turn to be shocked by his actions.
"Fine, but it better not be too far away I have to go home and do my homework soon, otherwise I'll be scolded. It wouldn't be nice if that happened to me you know. I still live with my family and all and pay a basic house rent. They'd kill me for not keeping a promise." Richard stated as he walked over to her stepping on the ash as he followed her away from the scene they were at.
"Are we going to be talking in a back alley? You know if we are they'll probably be a lot of whatever that just was." Richard commented as he walked.
Richard did not take her hand but followed Rosette and listened to her words intently. When she stopped, turned towards him, looked at the brick walls beside them and then looked at him he answered her.
"First off, yes, I live nearby. Secondly, I have powers, but I've not done much with them to anyone nor have I been able to do anything with my powers, except shoot fire out of my hands. Thirdly, I have no idea what we just destroyed. You blasted it with ice so quickly and then I incinerated it so fast that I could not get a good look at what we destroyed really. I did see the paper stuck on its head, so maybe its some kind of zombie or magically summoned creature." Richard rolled his eyes at that thought and felt it was ridiculous before he put his hand to his chin and though more on the issue, "Maybe we were just imagining that thing and it's more logically based than I've just presumed. What do you think Rosette?"
He gazed at her and thought about one of her other comments, "What coincidence for us to meet like this. Maybe we're supposed to meet, you never know." This thought made him blush but he quickly went about trying to hide this by looking down at the muddy concrete at his feet. For a back alley it certainly was not clean. He lifted u his shoe and found he had definitely stepped in the mud below him somehow while they were walking.
