Caring for the crew, the medical staff work in the sickbay.

Reply to this roleplay »

Vital to the crew's wellbeing, the sickbay is staffed by a small complement of medical officers, assisted by several non-commissioned crew, who act akin to nurses. Although small, the sickbay is well equipped, and includes a copy of the Emergency Medical Hologram (EMH) program should it be needed.

La'Piri nodded, "Your orders seem logical. I'll schedule medicals as soon as possible. Expect yours to be first, captain." She walked out quickly, no emotion on her face. She almost jumped when her watched beeped, a red light blinking. She watched as the lift door closed and the lift began zooming upwards towards the sick bay. If Vulcans could be mad, Piri would be perturbed. She had assigned the job of scheduling the medicals to the human, who, as just seen, had not done his job.

The lift doors opened and Piri stepped out, quickly walking to the sick bay, the bag with the vaccines in it sitting on her shoulder, her hands behind her back. The door to the sick bay opened, an ensign lying on the table, unconscious. Serith stood over her, checking her vitals with the scanner. Piri walked to the body and pulled up the vitals on the screen next to the bed, "Initial Diagnosis, Serith?"

Serith continued, not looking up, "She's had a severe reaction to the vaccine."

"Impossible. Those vaccines can't produce more than a minute amount of swelling in some parts of the body."

Serith stopped, turning off the scanner, "Nothing is impossible until proven so. Doctor, if I may say a word, all medical anomalies are such until another happens, this, for the time being is an anomaly, but, if more occur it won't be. The conditions on the ship could be causing the reactions. There are far too many variables to account for when discussing Vaccines, Doctor Piri."

La'Piri nodded and tapped the screen, opening up a link with the bridge, "Captian, we've got an ensign down. We believe she's had a rare, almost improbable, reaction to the vaccine. No need to panic, she'll recover swiftly." She tapped the screen again and a comm link to Y'Tu's room and the human's room, "You're needed in medical to assess a problem." She tapped it again and turned to Serith. "We'll need to check the vaccine for contamination."

Serith nodded, "Right away, ma'am." He put the scanner down and began to work.

Dr. La'Piri nodded, "My preliminary findings indicated that the vaccines are the source of the problems. I speculate they were contaminated before being brought to us, most likely in a plot to incapacitate the crew." She put her scanner down and looked at Dr. Ru, "We're going to need to find a cure and get it to the others who received the vaccine. In the meantime..." She stopped as Y'Tu walked in with Jacob, "I'll need both of you to check this deck for fallen crew, Y'Tu, take engineering, Jacob, take bridge." She turned to the screen and punched in a few things, opening a link to security. "Security, this is Officer La'Piri, I believe we may have had a breach within the bases' medical supplies, if you would please alert ground crew." The link closed and she quickly opened a new one to the intercoms, "This is Dr.La'Piri, if you received the vaccine earlier please come to the sickbay, you'll need a follow up inspection to make sure the vaccine is working, if you begin to feel faint, get another crew member to help you. The faint feeling is due to air pressure mixing with the chemicals and you'll get better soon enough." She closed the link and went back to inspecting the body.

Serith swirled around in his chair, facing Piri, "Normal, human born chicken pox, mixed with a strand of the F-Quadrant, Beta File influenza. In combination, they'll paralyze for a few days. No cure currently found." La'Piri looked at him for a moment then went back to scanning. He nodded to her and swiveled around, continuing to work.

Y'Tu stepped off the lift on engineering and looked around. No one seemed to have fainted. He walked down a corridor and rounded a corner, his eyes soon meeting Kouji's body. He walked calmly and swiftly to the ensign, picked him up gently in cradle carry and began walking swiftly back to the sickbay.

Dr. La'Piri looked at Third, curious as to why she seemed to playful, "You don't feel when you're paralyzed. Sit down on the nearest bed." She began to scan Third, searching every inch of her with the tiny machine. "Your immune system seems to be resisting the problems. You'll need to stay here until you pass out, then we'll attend to you." She left and headed to the comm screen, opening a link with the bridge, "Sir, we're looking for a solution as I speak. The counter agents will be easy to locate. Turning the link off, she went to Serith and sat down next to him. "Status report?"

Serith swished a solution in a test tube, staring at it intently, "Kil'Rigionate seems to slow the effects, but no confirmed counter agent found.

Piri nodded and got up, going to attend to a human who had passed out in one of the corridors that Jacob was bringing back.

"You don't feel when you're paralyzed. Sit down on the nearest bed."

Third sat on the bed as La'Piri scanned her, wondering slightly if she did wrong in getting herself checked. The last thing she wanted was to have her original species discovered by some Vulcan with a knack for needle-stabbing. Especially because her race had this tendency of putting duty before everything.

"Your immune system seems to be resisting the problems. You'll need to stay here until you pass out, then we'll attend to you."

"Grand, I'll just sit here and be, heh, patient". She seemed to be off the hook for now, even if she didn't quite enjoy the last part of that sentence. It almost seemed as if passing out was a dead sure thing, but she still didn't feel anything. Surely there would be some sort of warning? She thought of this as she attempted to lean her back against a non-existent wall, almost falling out of the bed in the process. Third grabbed a hold of the bed side, dragging herself back up into a seated position, mumbling "'m fine," to however might have been listening or watching. She shook her head slightly, hoping to regain focus.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

I would say that this roleplay has bit the dust. It's been over a month.
It doesn't really surprise me.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Mh, my character has fainted from the.. thing.. so there's not much I can write, I'm afraid :l

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

I can't post anymore until the GM does... or someone dies... or gets sick.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Hmmm, still waiting for this roleplay to go somewhere.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

This RP ain't gonna die on me, not if I can help it! I've just been a bit busy lately, so haven't gotten around to figuring out what's going to happen :p

My problem is that several characters were vaccinated, which I hadn't planned on :S And although I can easily present you with an antidote, that wouldn't be very sporting :D So no-ones going to die, I'm just figuring out how to get an antidote to you guys without it being too easy. (Suggestions welcome!) Si please bear with me a little while longer, in a short while, all hell will break loose in space (if you hadn't guessed already), so I'll try and give you an opening to sort out the vaccinations sooner rather than later.

@Thekherham: There are possibilities for non-standard species, though you'll need to give me a reason why they were accepted into Starfleet. At this point in the timeline, only the mainstream races were being accepted. And if you're making up your own race, then be sure to add a fair bit of detail in for my reference ;) If you've got any specific queries, fire me a PM and I'll answer as best I can :)

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Thing is, people are slightly unsure of what to post, as most of the main characters have fainted from a drug-thing. I'm not the GM or anything, so basically I'm just guessing here, but I don't think it's dead, at least.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Unless I'm making a mistake the last post in the IC was on April 20, so I was wondering if this roleplay is still alive.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Just taking a peek here, wondering if there is room for any aliens. I mean, other than Vulcans or Romulans or Klingons or Betazoids etc.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

HOW WILL THIS EVER END WELL!
WILL OUR HEROES BE DEFEATED BEFORE THE REAL ADVENTURE CAN EVEN BEGIN?!
TUNE IN NEXT TIME..

I probably should lay off the chocolates, I'm sorry.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Oooh.... Good one. See, I had two reports due today... So I was swamped for a few nights... Not to mention state testing... So I might be able to post tonight or tomorrow...

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

The...mystery of who posts next?

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Gee Willikers, Batman! I see what you're saying... Sort of... I believe me spandex may be on a little two tight... What's so mysterious?

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Golly! This surely is a mysterious situation, Batman 8D

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. FInals week sucks...

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

I'm not certain what you mean by joining as an OC, but if you're willing to learn, then I have no problem. Only junior officer positions are open now anyway, so that will make it easier on you :D

As for learning about the universe, google Memory Alpha. It's a wiki based on Star Trek. The important things to know about are the Romulans, our main adversary, the main technologies (warp drives, phaser weapons, Multi-Vectored Assault Mode) And things like the uniforms, that's probably about all that's really necessary :p Other than that, if you have a question, just shout up in the OOC and we'll try to answer it.

For submitting a character, you will need to pick a division to work in, they are the following (in no particular order):

Engineering: Responsible for running the ship, maintaining each and every system, no matter how small.
Security: Responsible for ship-side security, and also providing security for away teams.
Tactical: Responsible for the ships weapons and defences during ship combat, they tend to be trained in a similar fashion to security as well.
Science: Responsible for studying the universe, be that with the ships sensors or with their tricorders on a planet.
Medical: Responsible for keeping everyone on board alive.
Command: There are only a few command roles on a ship, they are the chiefs of each department, the XO and the Captain, they run the ship essentially.
Helm: Only a few of these, but they pilot the ship. It is rare that you get a dedicated helmsman, they often double in other departments, generally tactical. However we do have on dedicated helmsman ;)

So, take your pick and send in a character sheet ;)

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Hello. I was wondering if I could join... but... I dont know too much about Star Trek... can i possibly join as an OC? I won't get in the way! I promise! *begs* And my character could learn about stuff while I learn about Star Trek stuff! 9.9

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

No problems leon, real life always takes priority :)

As for make believe, I shall try and give you an entry into it shortly. I'll figure it out :)

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Sorry for the delay since my first IC post. I just transferred schools and was trying to get situated and I was gone camping this last weekend. I'll just try to fit my character in as if he'd been here the whole time. I'd appreciate some help in trying to fit into the plot, so I'm just going keep checking back here before I go IC again so I don't screw anything up. If you feel the need to remove me because of my absence, then do what you must. In any case, thanks!

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Cool. I'll try and fit a post in sometime today.

Re: [OOC] U.S.S. Pandora - Star Trek

Samurai, have the ensign I sent to the brig with the journalist report it to you, then come and speak to the Captain about it, probably the best option for introductions.

Raijin, I'll try and figure out some reason to call you to the bridge :)
