Introduction
Story:
The races of faeries, elves, and other magical beings have always coexisted with humanity. Sometimes peacefully, sometimes not so peacefully. But whatever the relationship may be, the mundane and the magical have had to share this earth as their home ever since the dawn of time.
It has only been in recent centuries that humans have convinced themselves that magic isn’t real and all mentions of it in history are simply myth. But even through this, the magical folk still live on, and even thrive. They wisely keep their existence a secret from all humanity to prevent danger to their kind. After all, one can only imagine the chaos that would unravel if faeries were discovered living among us.
And that is how they live: Among us. Going to school, getting married, going to work, raising families, and even submitting to death-these are normal things that magical folk in disguise do on a regular basis to keep their secret.
To help keep them united in their age of fear and uncertainty, the magical folk named a single elf the Rule of Magic. His name is Silas Nicholas, and it is his charge to keep up the communication between the races of magic while working to keep the magic secret from humanity. Silas Nicholas was chosen to be Ruler not necessarily because he was fit for the job, but because he fought valiantly in a great battle.
All magical folk long for the day when they may truly reveal themselves to their human neighbors who will be mature enough to desire peace. This day isn’t a mere dream, but a day prophesied to come by Emrys Merlin.
The half faerie, half human Emrys Merlin, on his death bed, saw a vision of a teenage human preparing his race to accept the existence of magic. Emrys Merlin spoke the name of the boy and the year and location of his birth shortly before his passing. He also stated that unless a Merlin was present in his life to explain to him the existence of the supernatural, he will never fulfill his destiny.
That year was 1988, the name is Matthew Penn, and the location is modern day America. It is now 2010, and Matthew is a freshman in high school. The prophesy is well known to all magical beings, and the pressure is on Nicholas to send the Merlin to guide him to his destiny.
There is a problem here: The bloodline of Merlin was lost ages ago. Nicholas has to name someone-anyone-to become the new Merlin. He has chosen Morgana, an ageless imp, for this position. Her physical form resembles that of a beautiful girl Matthew’s age, making certain conditions seemingly ideal.
Nicholas has had Morgana trained to form a relationship with Matthew and gradually reveal the existence of magic. Morgana is both excited and honored to be the Merlin who gets to train Matthew, but she will soon find her task more complicated than she ever could have guessed.
The first meeting between Matthew and Morgana will occur on the school bus halfway through the month of October. Morgana will sit next to Mathew and start a relationship with him.
But unbeknownst to everyone else, Nicholas is planning for Matthew to fail. For if the boy unites the magical with the mundane, there will be no more need for a Ruler of Magic, and Nicholas will lose his power. He has designed Morgana’s training not to lure Matthew into the world of magic, but to make him detest it so much that he flees from it.
Playable Cast:
Matthew Penn: A cheerful, simple, athletic freshman. He likes soccer, pretty girls, and cheeseburgers. His dislikes homework, chick-flicks, and jerks. He has been slightly sheltered from the evils of the world and knows not how ruthless it can be. Good-hearted yet slightly naïve, Morgana’s smallest step could intrigue or terrify him.
Morgana: An eternally youthful imp. Cheeky and often spiteful, she is truly one of the mythological faeries of old, possessing the duel nature of good and evil within her. Her actions often switch from vengeful and benevolent in an instant. As the new Merlin she has the authority to command both plant and beast.
Silas Nicholas: The Ruler of Magic whom no one would ever guess to be more concerned with his position than the good of his people. He is as ruthless a manipulator as he was a warrior. He commands the entire magical world and is admired by it. He will do almost anything short of foul play to keep his crown. Come to think of it…..
