“Of all the wonders that I yet have heard,
It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
Seeing that death, a necessary end,
Will come when it will come.” - William Shakespeare

Judas Priest - Deal with the Devil
When the world was still new, humans still learning to walk, there was a man who ruled them. He was their King. This King ruled with such tyranny that he led a life of luxury. He had everything he could have fathomed and yet, he wanted more. But like all things, death was knocking on his door, ready to take him and let his heir rule. The King, however, did not want to die. It meant the end of his power, his authority, his life. Everything he had worked for, the regions he conquered, the people he put to death; all of it would mean nothing if he were to die. He began to ponder things; how could he get away, keep his kingdom and cheat death?

Then he approached. This devil of a man.

He promised the King eternal life at the cost of his soul. Without hesitation, the King accepted this pact, this deal. But of course, there was more to the deal than the devil let on. The King, not heeding the advice of his youngest child, took his most trusted men to this man, and they all took the same pact. Then, with a laugh, the devil revealed what exactly they had become when the King complained of being allergic to the sun.

Vampire.

At first, the King rejected the very notion of becoming such a thing, however; when an intense thirst overwhelmed him, he believed. This did not deter the King, however, and for years, he continued his tyranny over his people. When people heard of the deal the King made, they went to the Devil and made contracts of their own. These men wanted to become as powerful as the King. They wanted eternal life. As the vampiric race grew, so did the amount of newborn vampires. In order to keep his hierarchy, the king declared a law.

For those who made a deal with the devil, they were to be known as the first; as pure-bloods. All of a pure-bloods children would also be considered as such. If the King, or any other pure-blood, turned a human, they were simply known as a Noble. A child born to such a vampire was nothing more than what their parents were. It was found that only a pure-blood (or the devil) had the power to change a human into such a creature.

With all things, the Kings' power began to weaken, and his kingdom fell apart. It became but a mere legend as deals with the Devil became mere whispers. The only way a vampire could be made was through birth or change as the King became but a forgotten memory. Because of the King's descent, a group of humans found out about vampires and their world. The rules the King held in place were forgotten by vampires as they attacked and fed on humans. Vampires became violent and saw humans as nothing but cattle to be used for their food or certain other purposes.

It was inevitable that a war would break out between these humans and the vampires. For years they fought, destroying many on both ends. It was then that a truce was made. Both sides agreed to stop at the behest of a rather powerful Pure-blood and a Human who was respected by peers. These two, unknown to their kind, were lovers. They wanted peace to reign between the two species and find peace as they had. And for a time, peace existed. The war became a mere legend until it was but a whisper fading in the back. In order to keep the truce from falling apart, the child of the pure-blood and human built a school known today as Cross Academy. It was a place where humans and vampires could co-exist with humans being oblivious to their vampiric counterparts. The school was formed as a co-ed, humans and vampires literally living with one another.

In order to keep the peace, the school counted on the Prefects, the only humans that knew the secret of the vampires. But the truth is, are they really human themselves? Or are they something a bit...different all together?

The school is preparing an Art festival for students to participate in. This is where your story takes place. As a student of Cross Academy, can you survive the eccentric lifestyle of the school when there is a horrible storm coming? Are you prepared to learn the secrets of the Vampires' world? But ultimately, are you prepared?

This role-play takes elements (mainly vampires) from Vampire Knight. All and any credit goes to Matsuri Hino for creation and plot. Also, some of the plot points are taken from Bram Stroker's Dracula...some. I say that loosely.

Vampires: Vampires are not your traditional vampires, nor are they twilight vampires. These vampires are immune to the sunlight, however; they can only stand it for so long unless they are a pure-blood. They do not burst but merely fade to ash when they die. Vampires are not vegetarians, meaning they do not feed off of animals. Animal blood is extremely toxic to vampires and should a vampire be desperate enough to drink from an animal, they will die in a matter of hours. There are two different types of vampires. Each one is categorized in a different field.

Pure-bloods: Pure-blooded vampires are vampires born to vampiric parents and do not have an ounce of human blood tarnishing their heritage. They are very rare and considered an endangered breed. Their blood is considered a delicacy and only feed off of each other, or their mates which are usually a sibling or another family member. There are exceptions to this rule such as if they find a particularly enticing blood. A pure-blood will also have certain abilities that they alone can perform, such as creating ice at will, telepathy, abilities like those. The ability passes on to their children. They alone possess the ability to turn humans into vampires. They are immortal in a sense as they do not die. They can be killed, but it requires a great deal of effort. They can tolerate sunlight indefinitely. It does not affect them like Noble and Mad Vampires.

Noble Vampires: Noble vampires are vampires that were either turned by a pure-blood or their blood was tainted with human blood somewhere down the line. Their blood is considered average and not often sought after unless by Mad vampires. They tend to feed upon their mates and occasionally snack on a human or two. Noble Vampires tend to marry within their own family to keep the human blood from growing any stronger within their bloodline and will often times try to marry into a pure-blood family. Although it is very rare that a pure-blood will take on a Noble as a potential mate. They retain a limited amount of abilities and are not quite as strong as a pure-blood's ability. They are immortal like pure-bloods, but can die a lot easier from special weapons. They can tolerate sunlight but it irritates their skin should they be exposed to it for x-amount of time.

Mad Vampires: The lowest of low: Mad vampires are vampires that were once human and were bitten by a pure-blood. Without drinking from the pure-blood that bit them, these vampires are driven insane with blood-lust and attack any and all creatures, resulting in an excruciating death should they ingest animal blood. There are not a lot of Mad Vampires in the world as they do tend to feed off of animals more so than humans and are not a threat to the Vampire/human world. They cannot tolerate sunlight...at all...and should they be exposed to it, they will combust and turn to ash. Their blood is highly toxic and will cause any vampire, pure or not, to go into a shock and die.

Dorms: Before the renovation, the dorms used to be segregated. Vampires had their own rooms in a different part of the campus while humans had their own as well. After the renovation, the dorms were merged so that the students now have to share their room with either a vampire or a human. Not only are they having to share rooms, each room is not restricted to gender meaning, a female can share a dorm with a male, however; it is strictly advised against. Each room is situated with two shower rooms should a male and female be housed together. The dorm rooms look like this. The windows have been tinted slightly to accommodate the Noble vampires sensitivity to the sunlight.
*Note: Once all characters are submitted, pairings will be decided via the hat method. This is not to determine final pairings, but to decide who will be sharing dorm rooms. Romantic pairings are to be decided between role-players.

Feeding Policy

Vampires are provided blood tablets in place of blood. In a sense, it is like synthetic blood, however; it does not give the satisfying liquid justice. Vampires only tolerate it in order to keep the peace. When they drink, they cannot allow humans to taste the beverage and are to claim it is either Tomato juice or something similar.

Let the darkness crumble. Let it take all. The rotten corpses and the cold stains of blood into the rubble.

Sodom knew well the emotional turmoil his Master must be feeling right now. The sudden appearance of the man responsible for the death of Lady Aiyana and Lord Raziel. At the same time, the almost extinction of the Nouralail bloodline. There was still conflicted sentiments even if his Master denies it all. Hikaru Murakami had still become an important person to his Master at some point and betrayal coming from that person was truly a hard thing to have and to experience. Nothing will ever truly be the same. He wanted to be at his Master's side right now, but his mission was to ensure Lady Haruka's safety. This is something he will not fail at all costs.

Soon, they arrived at the balcony. This would be a safe place for them to get out of the building. However before Sodom could jump, Haruka and other girl went down from his back. This was odd. He was about inquire why but the Lady Haruka had already spoken before him. She wanted him to stay with the Master. He was rather surprised about that but at the same time delighted. After all, this really mean that Lady Haruka does care about the Master and so did the Master about her. Perhaps, something good came out of this event. Well, this was the optimistic thinking of the ever-bubbly black familiar.

"As you wish, Lady Haruka. Please be safe." After stating that, Sodom returned to the hall to see how his Master was faring. The terrible roars and the thundering shakes were none other than the Hell Gates' Guardian Dog, Cerberus. The infamous three-headed dog who are established in many stories and myths about the underworld or hell. Who would have though that it could be possible for such a creature to be of reality? Well, seeing is believing as Sodom stilled himself. He knew when to intervene and helped his Master in terms of a fight.

For now, he was an observer while occasionally tackling down some of the vampires attacking him when a certain vampire aided him. "Sodom." Looking at the beam of star protruding from the now ashes of a vampire, golden eyes gazed at perpetrator with a bright smile. "Lady Allessa!" The girl smiled sweetly at the reaction of the black familiar. She was glad that he does not bear ill-will against her. The control on her had been removed thankfully, but the notion he had stabbed Azriel was still heavy on her consciousness. But, she had other things needed to focus on which the Nouralail pure-blood showed by example.

The King looked at Cerberus in annoyance. A hell hound had been released into this plane. This proves how strong the remaining Nouralail's power is. Creating a portal or even a hole between dimensions and spaces takes a great amount of energy. Furthermore, it also reminded him of that contract with the Devil. The one being, he wanted to be rid of for eternity. He could feel the mark on his hand itching and he hated it with such disdain. "Handle that beast." As if on cue, Hikaru was now before the pathway of the three-headed beast. This made Azriel irritated. Why was someone like him so compliant with a being like the King?

"Of course, my King." With that said, his blade was now stopping Cerberus from stepping on him. This showed that Hikaru has such great physical strength. After all, he was stopping a very large foot from crushing him to oblivion. Cerberus was not pleased especially when he was about to eat. It roared in anger as the building shook from such reverberations. Its heads attacked Hikaru who was now fighting with the beast on good grounds. Azriel narrowed his eyes in irritation at this and took noticed of the King leaving the vicinity. Moreover, he was rather surprised but did not show upon his face when Cerberus was literally thrown towards his direction which he had dodged.

Cerberus whimpered at this but was still much alive. Azriel met those eyes of blue with his silver-black ones. Hikaru was truly a nuisance that should be eliminated at all costs. "Cerberus. Destroy." The beast understood the instruction very well as it regained its footing and looked at Hikaru in anger. But this time, it remained on its position. The middle head opened its mouth and from it formed ball of hellish flames. The other occupants of the hall knew what this meant. Run. As such, the ball was released towards the direction of Hikaru who braced for the impact. This was going to be messy and fast.

From the distance, the palace where a wonderful ball was taking place was now but a picture of chaos. It was burning brightly against the dark canvass of the night. Furthermore, explosions could be heard and some of other guests were now outside the building in disbelief and panic. Allessa was among the ones who had already left the crumbling building. She scanned through the masses to see the presence of Azriel but to no avail, there was none of the Nouralail pure-blood. She had heard from Sodom that Azriel's wife was already out. So, why was he still inside the burning building? Her face was filled with great concern. "Lord Azriel... please be safe."

Inside the burning and crumbling building, Azriel was now face to face with the one who calls himself King. Hikaru was still engaged with Cerberus who was still continuing its fiery rampage. "So, what now the son of the family of betrayers?" The King could feel the intense silent but cold rage of the Nouralail pure-blood. There was no hiding that intent to kill and he liked that very much. A family that had always favored pacifism and always doing the right thing. Now, someone from that family was now being incarcerated into the dark paths. What great irony, it was really.

"I will kill you then, that traitor, and then that pest." Azriel's voice was awfully calm but had the sharpness of his rage and such dread. His eyes of ash-black were now a deeper shade than before. There was also a cold and suffocating presence around him. He was releasing his aura of power which the King mirrored effortlessly. "What a plan, you have there. A small problem, I'm not going to die." Azriel nonchalantly shrugged his shoulders and placed a hand over his face and answered. "Don't worry that can be arranged." With that their released power clashed with one another causing another explosion, but this time. the whole building crumbled down as the flames continued to burn everything down. Only a howl was released through the wreckage. This was indeed a night to remember.

"It's been a long time since I last trusted someone. I don't know if I can, but somehow, it feels okay this once."

Haruka stared at Hikari for a moment as the words processed through her mind. She told Haruka to trust her, something that Haruka truly did not want to do. The only person she ever trusted was Makoto, but even then he had lied to her. Whether it was for her own good or not, she'll never know for certain about it. Azriel had killed him without so much as batting an eyelash of doing so. She continued to jumble the thought in her mind, remaining silent in the process. She didn't want to go with Hikari, that much she was assured of, but what other choice did she have? She couldn't return to the estate, at least not with Hikari for fear Azriel might kill the girl. The Academy was out of the question just because, and she had no home to go to. Well, she did, but if she ever returned to that place, it would bring up unwanted memories of her times with them. Defeated, she was given little choice in the matter. With a smile, she finally nodded in agreement to Hikari's words.

"Where to, Ms. Tanaka? I am no mind-reader so if you'll direct me to where it is you reside, we can be out of this place," Jiro stated, however; before he could hear her statement, he suddenly bounded off in a random direction. There was a terrible energy radiating from such a close proximity and it had startled Jiro. Something was about to happen, he could feel it in his very bones. He didn't like the feeling at all. Whatever was happening in the building, it would be wise to get the two girls out of the vicinity before the atom bomb went off. If he didn't, then they would surely perish in this night. That was something he did not want to dwell on. Even if he did not fear death, he knew his master did. He wanted to prevent her from ever feeling that fear again, however; there was one fear that he could never hope to rid her of: the fear of vampires. Moments after Jiro bounded off, the building that once stood to house the ball, was now crumbling into nothing but a mess of debris against it's own foundation. Haruka's eyes widened at the sight as she turned, reaching her hand out as if to grasp an imaginary one.

"Azriel," she whispered against the wind. It faded as if she never said the word to begin with. Her heart clenched painfully against her chest, something that completely confused her. Why was she so worried about the devil of a vampire? Oh, because his life was hers as was her life his. If something happened to him, she would also feel the brute end of it. Just like when he was penetrated through the stomach, she also bore the wound. If he died, she died. Panic swept across her face at the mere thought, however; it was quickly replaced by one of relief. She was still alive, that meant that he too still lived. She released a held breath and quickly retrained her eyes to focus in front of her. It was then she felt a suffocating presence swell up within her being. She couldn't breath. It felt as if someone had wrapped their hands around her throat and was suffocating her. What was going on? Surely this had nothing to do with Azriel, the pain they shared was more physical than this metaphorical feeling. Her vision was blurring in and out, and she couldn't focus. Soon, she felt herself slip away, embracing the cold darkness that hovered over her so.

"Where am I?" Haruka stated, listening as her voice echoed the question in the darkness. There was no response as she tried to adjust her eyes. She couldn't see anything, not even with her heightened eye sight. She felt as if she were floating in an ocean, the current drifting in and out as she remained. A soft shimmer of light invaded her eye sight as she closed them, trying to keep from being blinded by it. Although it was small, the light was still bright before it morphed into a figure. To Haruka's surprise, it was a woman. She'd never seen this woman before, however; the woman's arms were outstretched towards Haruka. Hesitantly, she reached her out her hand, slipping it into the woman's who pulled her to her form.

"My little Ruka's all grown up," the woman stated as Haruka held confusion in her eyes. Was she dreaming? Who was this woman, and why did she know her name? It wasn't the same woman she had seen when she inherited her healing ability. This woman was completely different and yet, she permeated a scent so vaguely familiar. The woman stroked Haruka's hair as a warm smile could be seen dancing on her pale face. She couldn't see the woman's face though, which was odd to Haruka. "It seems Haru didn't tell you about me, my child," the woman laughed, causing Haruka to pull back suddenly. The woman's face then came into view. Immediately, Haruka felt her breath lodge in her throat. This woman, she knew this woman somehow. Her familiar orange locks, her pale blue eyes, everything about this woman screamed familiarity.

"Who are you?" Haruka questioned, stepping back from the woman, caution shining behind her stone-colored eyes. The woman frowned, almost as if Haruka had slapped her in the face with a hard stick, and it pained Haruka somewhat. The woman mouthed something, however; Haruka couldn't hear what she said. The light the woman had been surrounded by began to fade, causing fear to erupt within Haruka's being. "Wait! Don't leave! I don't know where I am!" Haruka stated as she tried to reach for the woman, however; her legs fell from beneath her and she was plunged into a never ending black abyss.

Haruka immediately jolted upwards, regretting it afterwards as a pain shot through her arm and her head. She groaned out, a soft meow capturing her attention momentarily. She glanced down into Jiro's amber eyes as he glanced at her with concern. She smiled as she rubbed his small head. He had returned to being just a regular black cat when they arrived. He had to since he didn't want Hikari's parents questioning why a familiar was carrying the two of them, and an unconscious girl to begin with. Haruka glanced around the room she was in. It was unfamiliar to her. She's never seen this place before, however; a particular scent gave away who it belonged to. So, she was at the prefects home. She glanced at her shoulder and noticed it had been patched up. Why was this girl so adamant at protecting her? Haruka had never been nice to the girl, even as they attended the same school, she avoided everyone like the plague and kept to herself.

"I guess I should thank her then," she stated as Jiro began to purr. It was odd that she would even think of doing so. There was this light feeling fluttering in her chest as she thought about it. Perhaps, this could be one person she could truly trust. If she could overcome that issue, what was to stop her from over coming any other issue she had? Her fear of a certain vampire was still there, however; it wasn't as strong as it once was. Why was that? Surely it couldn't be because of their twisted bond...could it? She groaned out in confusion as she laid back in the bed. "Jiro, I don't know what to do!? I don't know what's wrong with me," she stated, pulling at her hair in the process in frustration. This was truly something she had to think about. She feared she was losing her mind to this insanity. But if that was the case, would it truly be that bad? Her mind then fluttered over towards the woman she had just dreamt about. Who was she and how did she know Haruka? These mysterious would be the death of her if she kept thinking about them.

“Life isn't like a cup of tea, it's more like a box of chocolates. You never know what you'll get.”

The ride was better thank Hikari had expected. They moved swiftly through the night, the large tiger like creature following Haruka's directions towards her house while she kept the now unconscious Haruka steady on made sure she didn't fall off. The arrived to her house in no time, through she wasn't pleased to find that her adoptive parents were still there and awake. Jiro shrunk back to his normal size, and Hikari was left to haul Haruka into the house. As soon as her parents saw her they panicked. "What is going on?!" Her 'father' demanded, glaring at the girl in Hikari's arms. The white haired girl rolled her eyes and glared back at the man. "This is my friend from school, she was at the damn party you forced me to go to, oh did I mention we were attacked? Yeah. It was a blast." She pushed past him and made her way to her room, her parents staring at her like she had grown a second head and was speaking in a different language. "By the way-" She called out from the door way of her room. "Tomorrow, I'm moving out." Her door was slammed shut, cutting off the man's yell of displeasure as the red head was placed on a queen sized bed. She stared at the girl for a moment, before sighing and swooping down to grab the first-aid kit that was under her bed.

She set to fixing up Haruka's injured arm, and then she managed to get the sleeping girl to swallow a pain pill. That was all she really could do, but she figured some good food would help the girl when she woke up, so Hikari left Haruka in her room and headed out to the kitchen, shutting the door so her parents couldn't bother the girl, through she was happy to see that her parents had retreated to their room for the night. Because Hikari couldn't stand her adoptive parents, she had ended up with a room as far from their's as possible, so her rooms was by the kitchen and and main exit of the house, while they slept on the third floor all the way in the back. Hikari could throw a party and it wouldn't wake them up, so she could make some food for Haruka and not have to worry about being bothered by them again tonight.

She wasted no time in getting things ready. It was a rather chilly night, and hot chocolate always helped Hikari's nerves after a bad mission, so she sent up a pot and started to make the drink, in hopes it would help Haruka. She then set to work in making some Mochi, it wasn't her favorite, but she had seen Haruka eat it before, and she seemed to enjoy it, so why not? It took about twenty minuets to get everything made and set up on two wooden trays that Hikari carried easily into her room, smiling at the now awake Haruka. "Hey Haruka, I wasn't sure what you liked but I made some hot chocolate and Mochi." She set the tray down in Haruka's lap before sitting on the chair by the bed. She smiled at the other girl and took a sip of her own hot chocolate. "If you don't like it I can take it back and make something else for you." The girl shrugged carelessly before pointing towards the small bowl of cream that also sat on Haruka's tray, grinning sheepishly. "That's not for you through, that's for Jiro, as a thanks." She grinned at the cat before taking another sip of her hot chocolate. "How do you feel? I have more pain pills if your arm hurts." She pointed towards the first-aid kit that sat on the bed side table, the lip open, revealing a bottle of water, a bloody rag, a bottle of pain pills, thread, and a needle, along with some gauze and padding that Hikari had used to fix up Haruka's arm.

"Let's accept this most basic fact. We are destined enemies but we are unlikely acquaintances for now."

Why were his fights always ends up being interrupted one way or another? It annoys him very greatly, however, he was not some hormonal teenage boy who can't control himself. As such, he let the pitbull handle the legend-turned-traitor and the Nouralail pure-blood with the infamous King. For now, he allowed himself find victory in getting great information about his prospective targets. Big players had now been presented on the board. He could only guess that starting forth this day. Things will be very busy and active in more ways than one. In any case, he was left to tend to the small fries who were still loyal to their King's demand. This only made him get irritated further.

What was good fighting for someone? Or fighting for a goal? They were chains that should be broken. This is his point of view as he also share and experience such fate. He wanted to be free. But, the last word will not belong to him. Anyway, he was not entirely against with facing new foes each day. It was something worthwhile to do sometimes especially, when he would be up against strong ones. Right now, he cleaned up the lackeys swiftly. They were not that good enough to even give him a good work sweat. Looking around, he wanted to make sure that there was no one else. He would just pay a visit to the others who were still here.

Noctis was well-aware of the fire consuming the place. But, it was not his concern at all. He had other matters more important than such a thing. It seemed the dog was not properly trained where to aim. Well, it does make sense. There was never a need to teach the guard beast from the gates of hell. He soon caught a glance of the traitor and Cerberus still engaged. As for the other two, he could hear clashing of swords and brief conversations around the corner. There he saw the King and the pure-blood who seemed to know more than he lets on.

The next thing he knew, the place was now crumbling down on them. He only looked at it nonchalantly and soon the building collapsed with them being underneath. After a good hour, the flames were still burning but from the rubble. Noctis unearthed himself. He then looked at a certain portion where the Nouralail Pure-blood was looking at his direction with contempt. Why is that? Well, Noctis summoned some of his swords and blocked the debris falling on the man. It was not done for him. Rather, he disliked the fact of fighting someone handicapped.

"A thank you would do." Noctis noted to not anyone in particular. However, its content can be taken in many ways. Soon enough, Red was before him with concern flashing in those eyes. It was subtle but he could tell. "Handle your garbage, Nouralail." Pausing for a moment, he then continued on. ".Or I will handle it and you personally." The swords protecting the pure-blood disappeared into little spheres of light. It was then he went with Red who was rather persistent about having him checked at some medical clinic. He was fine really a bit he was more certain what Red was really worried about. After all, Red was the observer and he was the medical watcher and at field.

Anyway, he was in no hurry to ingrain himself on the nerves of the Pure-blood. There were many chances for him to interact with them. Why is that? Well, he has his ways and with that, he soon vanished from everyone's sight. Where some of the vampires who survived were mystified by his presence and seen gestures extended to the Nouralail Pure-blood.

Beware the gates of hell had been opened. Darkness spilled forth to conquer the light.

The walls. The ceiling. The floors. The pillars. The entire building was not able to withstand the battle of forces between two entities that had a past filled with notoriety. One was the from the bloodline who had been dubbed as the betrayers and executioners of pure-bloods. The other was known among the passage of time as the Ultimate ruler of the Vampires, the King. No one was certain what the outcome could be as flames baptized and blood showered for this undeniable meeting designed by the fates. This collision revealed little as everything soon crumbled into the earth.

Allessa remained on the grounds while the others had decided to leave for safety. However, she did not want to move. At the very least, she wanted to be assured of what happened to the Nouralail pure-blood. This was the only thing she could offer in penance to what she had done to him earlier. She wanted to wait and know what had become of him. As the grand structure was devoured by the flames of inferno and as the dirt welcomed its destruction. She bit her lower lip in anticipation. The only sound which permeated to the grounds were the crackling of the fires and embers still burning.

"Lord Azriel..." She softly called and someone soon rose from the flaming debris. However, it was not someone she had expected. Rather, it was one of the infamous hunters and fear of mad vampires. The one now known as Noctis. He stood unfazed and undaunted of what had happened around him. There were a few smudges of dirt here and there but she could discern the man was utterly fine. Thinking about it, he was the one who had knocked her unconscious. However, he was not what she wanted to see. Looking around for anymore movements, she waited with great plead.

"Lady Allessa, Master is fine." Turning to the source of the voice, the black familiar was flying beside her with a comforting smile. It seemed he had returned to his usual form. There must be truth to that for Sodom was still here. Furthermore, Sodom did not have the inkling for deceit. The black furball was too much innocent for such things which was rather contrary to his Master who was not above all. "Where is he Sodom?" Amber eyes looked at a specific direction which was not far from where the hunter was. From that point on, Allessa cannot help but be infinitely happy. It was rather odd for her to feel so but, this was normal in one way or another.

Azriel stood unharmed from the collapse. However, blood splattered across his cheek while those silver-black eyes gazed with such intensity at the pest who dare degraded him. Well, this is how the pure-blood views it. Swords of varying lengths and designs surrounded his form which deflected the falling debris and as such. There were no need for such things. "I have no need for you, pest." It was delivered with such intensity of cold rage which was now seeping through his form. This was also from the added fact that his targets had escaped his reach. The King's presence and even that traitorous man were now unknown to his senses. He highly doubted that a falling building will kill those two. If it did, he would not have a hard time to end their useless existence.

This pest of a hunter really has a death wish. He could have handled his matters if not for their interruption and intervention. They should have just stayed away from such things which was not their concern in the first place. "I will kill you for your interference." Once the swords were dispersed, he was about to deliver a psionic blast. However, Allessa blocked his line of target. He was not pleased about that at all. "Lord Azriel! Are you hurt?" The noble vampiress reached for his cheek to wipe away the blood which gathered thickly there. He slapped her hand away in irritation. "Get out of my sight."

He ordered with relentless coldness and harshness as he pushed her away roughly from his path. The hunter had already left which earned another point in his temper. He greatly seething and wanted nothing more but to kill someone right now. However, Sodom reminded him another matter that should require a moment of diversion from his burning anger. "Master! Lady Haruka is safe." Sodom landed on his shoulder not bothered by the frightening aura swirling around the pure-blood. Eyes much like the moon against the blackest of the night met those sun-stoned eyes of his familiar. There was indeed the matter about his wife.

Anger. Hatred. Vengeance. These emotions receded within him for now. He had the opportune moment to make the one responsible for the fall of his family to pay in blood. However, he let that slipped away. But now, he was certain that the blasphemous man was still alive. He will have his chance again. When that day comes, he will kill that Light. He will kill and enjoy it. Then, there was the issue about this King. He will handle that in stride as he was not mainly his concern for now. Now, he must gather his resources and never be caught in such a surprise once again. He will not let that happen twice.

"Handle this, Allessa." The said vampiress was rather saddened by Azriel's harshness but immediately cheered up when she heard him addressing her. It seemed the pure-blood still undoubtedly trusted her despite with what happened. She was thankful for that. "I will. Go and fetch your wife." In the end, she had seen glimpses about the pure-blood's chosen wife. The girl was not normal by any means. But more than that, the girl has an impact on Azriel. So, there must still be hope in there. The pure-blood did not look at her and simple walked away from the scene while Sodom had a pleasant smile on its face.

Some time passed before Azriel stood before a door. It seemed that prefect had taken his tool to her house. He really could careless about it. As long as his tool was unharmed, it was all good. He was also certain there was no need for him to ring the doorbell or knock. Why was that? They were hunters, he did not take the liberty to hide the fact he was a pure-blood. Moreover, he did not bother much with his current appearance. He simply wanted to get his tool and that is all. Once the door was opened, he simply stated one fact as the hunters bared their weapons at him. "Give her back to me."

"And so the darkness returns to swallow the light that had just began anew."

Haruka remained in her position as Jiro rubbed against his master's arm, trying to calm her thoughts. It wouldn't do her any good if she kept stressing about such things. Although it did help in diverting her attention from her current situation. As such, she was too engrossed with her thoughts that she hadn't noticed Hikari enter the room and offer her something to eat. It wasn't until the smell of the hot chocolate entered her senses that Haruka finally turned to spot the prefect. Jiro purred with delight at the saucer of cream and happily lapped up the contents. Haruka offered a warm smile, however; it came out as something more broken. She glanced towards the medical kit and then towards her shoulder. Her wound was already healing thanks to the regenerative parts of her being half-vampire. Although they would heal a bit faster than a normal humans, it would still take at least the remainder of the whole day before the wound was completely healed and gone from sight.

"Thank you Hikari. Mochi is my favorite," she finally spoke as she took the cup and plate from the girl. She stared at it, almost as if she were studying it before taking the first step into making a bite. She smiled at the taste. Although it was a tad too sweet, she appreciated the fact that Hikari took the time to actually cook something for her in an attempt to take her mind off of things. "I think I am fine for now. The pain is tolerable. It won't be there in a few more minutes though," she replied to her question about the pain in her shoulder. Granted she was no longer bleeding, something she was grateful for, but the pain in her shoulder still throbbed every now and then. It was nothing though really. Azriel had inflicted a pain far greater than a wound to the shoulder, and that pain was still lingering about.

Before she could say anything more to the white-haired girl, a very familiar voice echoed from behind the closed door. She sighed, placing the cup in between her hands as she glanced down at it. He was here. Some part of her, somewhere deep down, she was relieved he was alive. Perhaps that was just the selfish part of her that wanted to remain alive as well. Whatever it was, she did not linger on the thought much longer. The fact that he was here now, retrieving her caused a painful clench in her heart. Would there ever be one day to just herself? She frowned as she knew the answer to that question. Instead, a bitter laugh left her lips before she stood from the bed. Jiro glanced from the saucer of cream that was now gone and watched as his master slowly walked around the bed.

"I suppose it is time for me to take my leave now. His royal majesty is here." she stated. Although the way it was stated would have made one think it were said in jest, however; Haruka was indeed serious in her tone. "Thank you Hikari. I hope we never have to meet like this again. I hope it is in better standings, not one filled with so much death," she stated before opening the door to the girl's room and walked out. Her tread was slow, dragging her feet almost as if they were made of concrete. Jiro followed silently behind his master as she finally made i towards the front of the house. The sight before her was truly amusing in every sense. Hikari's family had bared arms to her husband and his appearance did not help the matter any less. She took a deep breath before pushing herself further.

"Tanaka-san, it's okay. He isn't here to harm anyone," she stated, glancing towards Azriel as if to confirm that before turning her attention towards the two Tanaka's. She bowed slightly to them. "Thank you for allowing me to rest, I owe your daughter very much," she stated as she left their side. She was soon infront of Azriel, her stone colored eyes staring into the abyssal ruins of his own. She sighed before turning once more to the family and nodded in their direction. She then made her way out of the door before stopping to turn towards Azriel. He truly frightened her in every way, but for some odd reason, the fear that once radiated from her was now just a calm and steady stream. When did that happen?

When had this incessant fear of hers negate into something that she could identify now as just irritation? She shook her head slightly. She truly was insane. If she no longer feared this vampire, then who was to say she'd fear anything after this? From what she had witnessed, he had a terrible strength than most vampires, and that in itself should have terrified her more. But it didn't. Then there was the declaration back at the party. She had made a bold move, that she knew of. It was bold, reckless, and just plain stupid of her to have done something like that. Even if they were bound by this twisted reality, her statement of being the only one to allow him death was a bit reckless and rash. The only way that could truly happen is if she died first.

Eventually she would. Perhaps. She didn't know. As a being in between, she wasn't sure exactly what her life span would be. It could be just a typical human's lifespan of just a few decades, until she was eighty or ninety years old. But then again, it could be that similar to a noble vampire or a human that was changed. She could live for a few centuries before turning to dust. In some sick, twisted way, it made her happy. Happy that this pure-blood had chosen to live a life that wouldn't last forever, because she wasn't a pure-blood. She did not possess that immortality as they had.

"Are we returning to the estate?" she questioned. Although it was a dead giveaway, she still asked the question. For all she knew they could be returning back to the Academy. School would be starting again soon and as much as she didn't want to, they would be required to go back. They were still students after all. At least then she might be able to find a bit of comfort in someway. Since she wasn't part of the Night Class, it would give her a few hours of solace away from her husband. But why did that thought irritate her now?

“I'm not afraid of death; I just don't want to be there when it happens.”

"Thank you Hikari. Mochi is my favorite," Hikari smiled faintly before quickly eating her own Mochi. When she was growing up, she was taught never to waste time, so she could never really waste time savoring her food, in some ways she just scarfed it down, ignoring the flavors, and so when she did take time to enjoy food and the tastes, they were new and brilliantly stunning. "I think I am fine for now. The pain is tolerable. It won't be there in a few more minutes though," Hikari nodded slightly, it seemed Haruka had a high tolerance for pain much like herself. Usually when people suffer from great physical, and emotion pain, well after awhile other pains and barely anything to be bothered by. Sadly, most people learned this from experience.

Suddenly, a shout broke through the air, followed by a familiar voice. Hikari groaned inwardly. How he had mandged to wake up her parents was beyond her, but she was sure she would hear hell about it later. They would be in-raged to find out what kind of people she was around nearly everyday. Unless Hikari really moved out tomorrow, she would never hear the end of this. "I suppose it is time for me to take my leave now. His royal majesty is here." she snorted in response. Hikari could tell the other girl was serious, but the way it sounded was just amusing. "Thank you Hikari. I hope we never have to meet like this again. I hope it is in better standings, not one filled with so much death," Hikari watched the red haired girl leave the room before sighing and slowly standing up to follow.

"Tanaka-san, it's okay. He isn't here to harm anyone," Hikari wasn't as kind when she addressed her 'parents' instead she smacked her father right up-side the hand and then grabbed his weapon from his hands, throwing it across the room like it was trash. "Thank you for allowing me to rest, I owe your daughter very much," Hikari smiled at Haruka and waved off her comment before turning towards her parents, nearly growling. "Did you leave your brains in bed?! Don't just fucking raise a weapon to anyone who comes up to your damn door step! I'm surrounded by morons." The younger girl pointed towards the stair case like a mother would when sending her child to their room without dinner. "We'll talk about this tomorrow, just get back to your side of the house." Hikari hissed, not even slightly surprised when her parents listened to her and dismissed themselves.

Hikari glared at the stair case for a moment, before, against her better judgement, followed Haruka outside, through she stopped a few feet away from the two. "I'm sorry, I wasn't sure where to go after we left..." She paused slightly, something in the back of her mind nagging at her. If Azriel was here, did that mean the man that had been the cause of all that dead was dead? "Is that man dead? If he's not we might want to set up some extra security at the Academy." She looked away from the two of them, up towards the sky for a moment, and then back towards Azriel. She wouldn't be able to relax as long as that man was alive. She also wanted to know if she had to be ready to protect the people she cares about if there was another attack on the way.

"From this point on, there is no turning back and that's what I've been waiting for."

His days had been rather hectic with reports and queries. They were all regarding about the incident at that mysterious and highly entertaining ball. There were many casualties in both sides however, it was not much of grave impact for the vampires. Unlike for the hunters, it was quite a blow. They were few to begin with and their numbers decreased more so. Vampires can recruit with the means of their pure-bloods. As for them, they would need hunters to give birth and wait for that child to mature. It seemed he will have no choice but to let the hunter trainees to join with some of the field work to compensate. Adding to that, he will have to open recruitment even to those who are not of hunter lineage.

There were many risks to the altercations of the protocol. But, it must be done to ensure that the fragile peace between humans and vampires is maintained at all costs. He will implement the rules strictly once the Association regained sufficient and effective manpower. For now, it was all they could really do. Throwing the documents aside, he released a sigh which alerted his companion who was actually driving the car he was in. "You are still the president." Noctis scoffed at this. He indeed is but what used did that quasi-president have if these simple matters can't be resolved without his touch. "Can't we put someone else with a brain?"

Red looked at his ward through the rear-view mirror. There was no doubt in his mind that Rasui was suited enough as president but more than that, the boy liked being in the front lines more than anything. It was not that surprising as he was designed like that. "We can't have you being lazy." This made Ciel raised an eyebrow and shook his head with an amused smile on his mouth. They don't want him to be lazy? Now, who was the joker in this situation? With all the work needed to be done, he can't afford to take a breather even now when certain factors had been revealed at that ball.

"Right... Lazy. How long before we arrive there?" Ciel quickly changed the topic as he looked out the window. He was going to need to assess the situation at a more closer level. It is why he had returned to this country hastily. At the same time, it was also why he had attended that ball in the first place. "ETA 30 minutes." He nodded at Red's response as he leaned back to his seat. There was still enough time for him to take a quick nap. He had been up all night to ensure the smooth transition of reports from the fake president to his hands. There was also putting out the fires on an occasional basis. Really, things were less complicated in the field than behind a desk. Well, this was his opinion.

"Was the Headmaster informed already?." Ciel asked knowing the protocol and all. Red responded with a confidence. "Yes." He nodded in approval. Closing his eyes, he allowed the darkness to fill his vision. The next time he opened them, he would be at Cross Academy as a transfer student. Oh, he could almost see the reaction of the Nouralail pure-blood. But, this was inevitable. That pure-blood was bound to that King and he was bound to its existence. "Wake me when we get there." Red simply had a small smile on his mouth. When they do arrive at the academy, Rasui will be a student and a prefect. Things will certainly be up a notch. "Good night." As the car continued on to its destination which is Cross Academy.

As darkness consumes it all, the seething emotions linger.

Of course, the response he desired was not quickly produced. Instead, this pair of hunters pointed those weapons at him which were created to eliminate his kind. How pitiful. They were completely ineffective against him. How unfortunate as well. He does not have the patience to waste his time on such warmongers as themselves. Yet before he could do anything, his main purpose for coming here appeared before him. How he had found her so easily? It was due to their twisted bond. This matrimony, this contract which was drawn to their very soul served as a chain of unrelenting connection. A matter, he takes advantage and at the same time, irritates him on many occasions. But as he had said to himself, this was a mean to an end for him.

The girl looked at him with those grey eyes of hers. He did not look away as he met them with his ash onyx ones. His gaze never flinched nor blink as it delivered a sense of authority and a good measure not to create a problem for him. After all, he was not in the mood to play trivial games in regards to the people around them at the moment. Clearly, he was also not the kind to hesitate in taking lives whether to be innocent or not especially if they were hunters. In any case, the girl seemed to understand this as she simply gave her words of thanks and proper goodbyes.

Seeing this, the pure-blood turned his back at this and left the front porch. There was no need for him to offer words of gratitude. He had placed the responsibility to take care of her to the prefect. It was not a favor and thus, there was no need. Anyway, he was now on the grounds. He knew the girl will follow him unless she wanted a second coming of what happened at the ball here. Looking casually at his tool, he could see the injuries she sustained. It was nothing fatal and would heal accordingly. He expected it that much after all, the girl would need such regenerative ability and tolerance to pain when dealing with him.

Speaking of which, he would need to discuss specific details of what she had done at the ball with her. He knew her ability to manipulate the element of ice. It is why he had created the mark between them. However, he did not know about the other one which she showcased by healing his own injury. The wound inflicted by Allessa was not life-threatening. It would not have killed him but at the moment, his body betrayed him and did not regenerate as fast as he had intended. This was probably from his lack in ingesting blood. The pills in the end were not enough to satisfy his hunger. However, he would not lower himself to feeding on humans or vampires alike. He was more than that and this was for his pride alone.

Then, there was her bold statement about his death being only allowed by her. The frightened girl who would tremble and ran away from his kind especially to him was now stating words which can be her end. She had indeed changed and truthfully, he does not see that as a bad thing entirely. "Lady Haruka!" It effectively destroyed his trail of thoughts. The source was none other than his familiar Sodom. He truly finds it incredibly wrong in all accounts how such a creature was created from his blood. They were nothing alike at all. In any case, Sodom latched onto Haruka with much happiness. The black familiar had already returned to the usual form which Haruka had grown accustomed to.

"We were so worried about you especially Master!" Of course, Azriel glared at the familiar for feeding the girl complete nonsense. He was only here to reacquire his property. There was nothing romantic nor sentimental in his coming here. Sodom noticed invisible daggers from his back and instinctively hid behind Haruka. He could never understand his Master's shyness (this was his innocent opinion) about such things. They were husband and wife, right? It was natural to worry. "Lady Haruka, Master is scaring me!" The pure-blood would not want nothing more but to blow Sodom into pieces. However, there was still something inside him which completely allows him to ignore such facets of his familiar.

Hearing the girl's query, Azriel responded in an almost bored manner. "You must have left your brains somehwere. There is no other place you are allowed to be but at the estate." Of course, there was the normal Nouralail pure-blood who does not waver in his insults to the girl. At the same time, Cross Academy will be out for the break. In short, they will staying at Nouralail Estate for two weeks before classes resume. Moreover due to her stunt at the ball, he was certain a lot of questions will be raised towards him. In which, he will have to be more wary about the people around him and her safety. She is perceived human but has abilities only pure-bloods could possess. Many will be interested about her and he does not take kindly to that at all.

The conversation between them was interrupted when the prefect called their attention. Azriel glanced at the prefect with his usual coldness which would make anyone feel unwelcome and to stay away. She wanted to know if that man was still alive. His eyes narrowed in irritation of being reminded that he had failed on killing that King and that person who destroyed his family. "He will be dead soon enough." His words were delivered with clear conviction interlaced with seething anger. It was like being thrown at the peak of an ice glacier with nothing on. He then turned his attention back to his wife.

He grabbed hold of Haruka's wrist and dragged her without much consideration or delicacy. They soon reached an awaiting car with the insignia of the Nouralail. He opened the door and threw the girl inside in which he followed in afterwards. Once the car door was shut. The vehicle went on its way. As for Azriel, he leaned on his seat and then closed his eyes. It was only then he felt so tired. He did exert much of his power and lost a considerable amount of blood which matched his inner turmoils. Who knew he could feel exhausted with just that? It was probably because of that he did not notice himself falling asleep quickly. Nor did he foresee a small bump on the road. It nudged his position as he slipped to the side. Soon enough, his head was now on Haruka's shoulder while he continued to sleep with those even breaths of his and a face so tired which was the first ever had seen him as such.

"This feeling inside, I do not know what it is. It feels like fear, but of a different kind. I do not understand it and I am afraid of it. Afraid because it is linked to this darkness I am bound to."

Before Haruka could hear his reply, Sodom attached himself to her once more. He was in his smaller form, the one she first met him in, and she smiled softly to the familiar. He had grown on her more so than she'd like to admit, but those thoughts were soon interrupted by the next few statements made from the familiar. Worried? She wanted to scoff at that. She did not have a single doubt in her mind that Sodom was worried, but him? It would have to be some twisted alternate universe they were living in for him to be worried, let alone show anything other than his anger and or wrath. Or nothing at all. Soon, Sodom placed himself behind her in fear as she gently smiled at the creature.

"It's okay Sodom, he won't do anything to you," she stated towards the black familiar and glanced down at her own. Jiro merely flicked his tail as her attention was once again on the pure-blood. He answered her question in the same insulting tone he always had. "And he's back," she muttered to herself as she heard his statement. The only thing that caused her to frown was his statement of where she was only allowed to be. Somehow, it made her angry at that statement of his. She wasn't... scratch that she was a prisoner. A prisoner to this vampire and at his mercy. It bothered her so much that he had this power over her, and that there was nothing she could do about it but try and make it harder on him.

She succeeded in that alone at the ball. She had showcased her affinity for ice in front of a room filled with vampires, and hunters. She was only grateful that her parents were not there, however; there was a small fear in the back of her mind that the hunters would undoubtedly tell them about their daughter's stunt. This thought brought a slight shiver down her spine in the process as she tried to push that fear to the back of her mind. She glanced at Azriel, watching as he made to move and she about to follow behind him, however; they were stopped when Hikari spoke. She wanted to know if the man who proclaimed himself King of Vampires was still alive. Azriel answered in his usual way, or so it seemed for Haruka, and he then left it at that.

He grabbed her wrist and dragged her along. It was done without an ounce of delicacy, something Haruka was becoming accustomed to. She hadn't, nor was she expecting, known him to show an ounce of anything other than that facade he wore. As such, she glanced over her shoulder and shot Hikari an apologetic smile. She wanted to tug her wrist away from the vampire, but if she did, she'd only accomplish in perhaps spraining it and causing the pure-blood anger, which she did not want to endure at the moment. If the ball was anything to give her fear, she would play it safe for now. This was something that she found truly odd. Although she feared him, this fear that was growing wasn't normal.

It was strange, awkward in every sense of the word, and it confused her greatly. He was right about one thing, she did leave her mind elsewhere. If she were in her right state of mind, she'd be shivering and possibly dying from a heart attack at the vampire's contact. That was not the case as she released an irritated sigh. Truly, she was truly mad. She was brought out of her thoughts when he threw her into the car and followed soon after. She furrowed her brows at the male beside her before turning her attention outside the window. She didn't want to see his face at the moment. Jiro jumped in soon after, not wanting to be left behind and curled up beside his master's arm and the door.

He could sense the weariness on her as her eyes were slightly glazed over. Although she had slept enough, it felt as if she were still so very tired. Exerting herself like that during the attack had put a great deal of strain on her body. She wasn't used to using her vampiric abilities to such an extent. Not to mention her ability to heal the wound Azriel was dealt with. It was new, something she didn't even know she was capable of doing until now. She glanced at her hand in the process. If she could have awakened this ability sooner, perhaps...she could have saved him. She could have saved her brother and perhaps found out the truth about her father. Taking in a deep breath, she was startled out of her thoughts when they hit a bump in the road.

This caused something heavy to fall on her shoulder and she turned slightly to see what it was. A frown marred her face slightly when she noticed it was him. The sudden contact, however, caused a light rise in her heart beat. He had never looked like this before, and for some odd reason, she found it made him look vulnerable. She furrowed her brows at the thought. If anything, he wasn't vulnerable. He was a being that only dealt with death, that she could attest to. She didn't like this appearance of his, but she remained still. She wanted to remove him from her, but if she did, who was to say he wouldn't do something to retaliate. Instead, she allowed his head to remain on her shoulder. She shifted a bit so that it was more comfortable for both of them as she returned her attention outside.

She had to refrain herself from the temptation of moving some of his bangs away from his face. In order to do so, she needed to be distracted. The scenery was providing little comfort to her as she tried to ignore his presence. It was silent in the car, almost to the point it felt deafening. The only thing she could hear was the steady, even breaths of his and the ever rising beating of her heart. She was silently hoping for this ride of theirs to be over with. This awkward position she was in was something that was confusing her greatly. She could finally feel the weariness take hold of her as she felt her eyes fluttering shut. Soon, her body succumbed to the sleep as her head softly landed a top of his.

“Life tends to take you to unexpected places.”

Hikari watched them leave silently, not quite sure how to feel about the man's words. That guy, the one who called himself the 'King' was still alive. The very thought made her feel ill, it made her want to go hunt that man down and make him pay for all of the deaths that he caused, for all of the pain those people and their family's would go through. None of them deserved it, but that man deserved everything that came his way. For a good half an hour, Hikari stood on her porch, staring at nothing and lost in deep thought, and then the bird came.

It wasn't what she had been expecting, she had been ready to go climb into bed for a week and just relax, but the bird landed on her shoulder and dropped, not just one letter, but four. Kari's stomach dropped as her eyes widened. Why would they send four missions at one time? Perhaps it was for all of them, but there were only three people...she sighed and swooped down, collecting the letters and heading inside. She dropped them on the table, sat down, and started to go through them. Hikari had expected one of them to be a mission for her, and the other three would be for her parents, but that wants the case. The first mission was addressed for her, giving her information on a Mad Vampire that was causing chaos in a near by town. The pay was good but it was a week long job. The second mission was also for her, they needed someone to help take out a soon-to-be Level-E, the third mission was just random information leading up to what might be a Mad Vampire hiding in the sewers in a near by city, and the fourth mission was a simple tracking mission.

They were all for her. She stared at the letter for a long moment, unsure of what to do, and then she let out a loud sigh, and went into her room. There was no point in even trying to sleep, so instead she changed into her hunting gear and packed a bag. By the time she was ready to go the sun was just starting to rise and her parents were already up and moving around in their rooms. She didn't bother leaving a note, they would see the letters and know where she went. It would time some time by she had to finish the missions. Hikari headed out the front door.
