Wasteland warlords in a Post-Apocalyptic dystopia are struggling to keep humanity alive. What happens when God forgets his followers after the last bomb goes off? In a desperate plea for God's attention, his mad followers are willing to end humanity's pain. Join a cast of bizarre characters, both good and evil, each seeking to carve out their niche in the annals of human history and to survive the Wasteland using whatever methods they deem acceptable. In a world without morals or laws, how quickly will society collapse?

Are you looking for an intellectual RP with a set storyline and an end in sight? Are you as tired of GM/DMs that drop their RP after 10 minutes as I am? Are you tired of RPers that post once and never come back? Do you find tedium in RPs which "don't have a plan" as to the direction in which they're going? Do you want an RP that has the potential to become something more than a piece of text on a computer monitor? Are you willing to put forth a bit of effort to weave a tale of pathos and pain with other willing and scholarly writers?

If you answered "Yes!" to any of the above questions, I want you on my team and in this RP.
I now ask that you to suspend all judgment towards religion, society and RPing genre and consider the fledgling tale I have placed before you:

Unlike most RPs, this one will have a cohesive and coherent storyline with an actual ENDING and goal and once that goal is achieved, the RP ends. Who knows, it might pique your interest?

After the last bomb went off, and all was quiet but the ringing in our ears, we saw two bright lights in the Western sky. Some said it was God and his son, the savior, coming to check up on us. Humanity, humbled by the iridescent lights, got to its knees and begged for forgiveness. They were under the impression that the two lights were the signaling of The Rapture.

Feasible, except that day their God and his son did not make a house call. The two orbs of light were nothing more than downed communications satellites crashing back onto our surface. Confused as to why God would forsake his loyal followers on the day of the Apocalypse, those who believed he would Rapture them into his divine kingdom, this set the stage for believers' role and purpose on the Wasteland that was our new living quarters.

Irradiated and barren, Earth was but a Wasteland that still retained some semblance of what it once was. Many skyscrapers and office buildings had their glass pane windows shot out and pillars supporting the foundation collapsed, creating a derelict urban ghetto in all major cities. Nobody remembers the exact year or day it all went to shit, but it's generally agreed that it happened sometime around 2100.

Halfway across the world, on the Eastern continent where the two lights crash-landed, speculation as to what the lights were was much different. Many believed it signaled the Rebirth of a new soul - one that was entering a child who was to be the reincarnation of Shiva and one that was the reincarnation of Siddhārtha Gautama, the first Buddha. Forsaking the minimal material possessions they already had, the people banded together to find these two reincarnated souls and reconstruct society according to Eastern philosophies of asceticism, transcendence and rebirth. Little did these people know that their belief with rebirth would butt heads (and guns) with those seeking to initiate the Rapture.

The Illuminated:
Practitioners of a combination of Eastern philosophy (Hinduism, Buddhism and Taoism) and belief systems have found the inner strength to carry the weak-willed along and ensure their survival. To be an Illuminated is to have responsibility and the inherent need to help others. The Illuminated have taken it upon themselves to gather resources, but primarily to ensure the survival of mankind and to harness the energy demands of a society that requires some modicum of technology to thrive. The Illuminated harvest scraps of metal from across the Wasteland and construct crude gadgets capable of generating electricity to power and heat society’s motor.

The Illuminated are well-versed in the remaining flora of the planet and using this primitive knowledge, utilize it for alternative medicine (now the only type of medicine) in order to treat the wounded, diseased and psychologically traumatized. The Illuminated is comprised of Ayurvedic Healers, researchers and laborers who are trying to retain order in the Wasteland. They have managed to archive old texts, digital files and books and extract some engineering and medical information from those to be used in the quest to rebuild humanity.

Using salvaged materials, the Illuminated were able to create the CloNet, a virtual system capable of restoring memories to the deceased. This "Rebirth" machine, although very material, is believed to have been divine inspiration from Buddha to reach a higher realm of thought - Nirvana. Using this technology, the Illuminated may theoretically live and record entire lifetimes, but within different bodies. These “clone” brains are then installed into functional, but deceased, human bodies. However, the energy demands for using such a computer are immense and the CloNet does not revive any average joe.

The Godforsaken:

Abandoned by the Judeo-Christian God with no Rapture in sight and left to fend for themselves, the Godforsaken have lost the will to live, but have gained a new cause. They aim to bring on an artificial Rapture and get God’s attention by causing as much destruction and pathos as possible. The Godforsaken believe that a God who can not feel sympathy for human plight is a God who can not initiate the Rapture and so they will flood the gates of Hell with human lives until God will be forced to take those who are worthy into his realm.

Their faith and resolve is as strong as it was before the Apocalypse, but they view both the Old and New Testaments as archaic, flawed and foolhardy. The Godforsaken care not for the motivations and agenda of the Illuminated and confrontations between the two are often violent, but sporadic. Although their goals may seem selfish, the Godforsaken have a very communal sense of responsibility and appreciation for their fellow Godforsaken souls. Anyone willing to help bring on the Rapture will be woven into the fabric of a mad family who looks out for its children.

The Godforsaken often war with the Illuminated over the CloNet and are notorious for stealing dead bodies so that the Illuminated are unable to use them for cloning regeneration processes. Believing that the souls is trapped within the human body until the Rapture liberates humanity, coupled with starvation in the Wasteland, the Godforsaken often resort to cannibalism to acquire the sustenance and spiritual prowess of their victims.

The Illuminated often risk death when they feud within Godforsaken territory. The Illuminated often try to steal the Banisteriopsis Caapi vine, which only grows in the Godforsaken territory and is believed by the Illuminated to hold great physical and spiritual healing power. The B. Caapi vine is used to make a brew which is then chugged and believed to cure everything from mental trauma to radiation sickness to impotence. Unfortunately for the Illuminated, supplies of this vine are scarce and dwindling constantly, but it’s a resource the Illuminated is willing to die for.

Certain members within the Godforsaken claim to have the ability to heal with their religion and mind, much as the Illuminated medics and clerics who use Alternative Medicine in conjunction with spirituality. In the shady underbelly of the Wasteland, these hoodoo practitioners perform bizarre ceremonies and rituals that are often more deadly and painful than the illness they aim to cure.
