Introduction
In a government facility hidden deep beneath Skyline City, reanimating the dead was at the head of research. And they finally got it to work. Corpses walked, but that was only the first step. They wanted to take it farther. Their first subjects were mindless and slow. No senses, feelings, or cravings. But as the research went on the dead began to think and feel. Slight brainwaves were monitored and their movement became less robotic. The research was progressing, as was the risk.
The subjects were not fed, and with their newfound instincts and cravings, that was an issue. It only took one bite for a subject to be hooked on human flesh. And it only took one bite to spread the ‘treatment’ into the new host. Before long it got out of hand and the facility was overrun and put on lockdown.
One year later, a hazmat team was called to clean up the mess. Unfortunately, a few zombies had survived by eating the flesh of the others. All it took was a single bite to start over. The infection spread into the city.

OOC Notes
She landed in the ally and ran toward the back, easily jumping to pull herself over a tall wooden fence. On the other side she concealed herself in shadow. Chaos had broken loose again, the few survivors now fleeing from hordes of the undead toward the city limits. But the city had been quarantined, there was almost no way out. Nikki had been thinking for a long time about her escape. She knew the only chance she had was to make it to the docks. That meant making it out of the city and across the suburbs that surrounded it. It also meant that she would need a boat and fuel. Her objective for now, stay alive.
OOC Notes
With another sigh she tried to steady her gun and stepped out into the back yard. She stood over the man now. She looked down and gasped. The branch he had tripped over had taken off a leg. The bloody flesh still stuck between a split in the branch. He was moaning and clawing at the ground with decaying fingers. "Oh my-" Though she wasn't religious she didn't like to offend anybody by every finishing that statement. She steadied herself and shot it through the head. She hurried inside and gathered her things. If there was one, there would be more soon. She cursed under her breath. If she had stayed at the facility, perhaps there would have been something she could have done.

"Just my luck," She muttered, turning towards the end of the alleyway. When she turned, she saw at least five of the undead, all coming towards her, their arms outstretched, mouths open, hungry for her flesh and thirsty for her blood. She pivoted around, and saw even more of the creatures closing in on that side as well. She pressed herself against the slimy brick wall, her feet quickly stepping onto the mountainous piles of full, ripening trash bags. She quickly climbed on top of these, feeling the plastic material of the bags begin to slide. She noticed a closed dumpster a couple feet away, and jumped towards it, the bags slipping and bursting, strewing rubbish over the already disgusting ground. Above her, the low roof of an abandoned gas station stretched about three feet above her head. On the tip of her toes, she reached towards the ledge, her fingers barely touching the edge. The zombies were beginning to flood the alley-way, reaching towards her longingly. She yelped as one grabbed her ankle, pulling her towards them. She turned around, and banged the hand with the butt of her gun. The bone crumbled like rotten wood, and the deteorating layer of flesh and skin splattered over the plastic surface of the dumpster-top. Tessa laid the gun hand on top of the building, and grabbed the edge with her other hand, she took a step back on the top of the dumpster, and ran a quick step before jumping into the air as high as possible. She pushed up with her arms, straightening her elbows. With her waist above the edge of the building, she leaned forward, trying to tip the rest of her body over so she could pull her entire body onto the top if the roof. She pulled in her legs, standing back up on the rooftop. The zombies were climbing on top of each other, trying to reach her. She fired her paintball gun a couple times, watching small white blurs shoot out of the barrel three at a time, and watched several zombies crumble to the ground to be trampled by Tessa's next victim. Reluctantly, she turned away from the reanimated corpses below her, walking toward the other side of the roof, wracking her brains to think of another way to get the things she needed and get home, ultimately to escape the city once and for all.

He drove into an empty gas station, stopping th car. Andrew hopped out of the car looking around. For a minute, he held his breathe, trying to see if anything or anyone was here... but he didnt hear a sound. Quickly, he started to fill the car with gas, tapping his feet, hoping it would go faster. He would look around every now and then, just in case. Right when he was done, he heard a loud crashing noise. In a flash, he was pointing his gun, his back against the gas machine. He moved his head, slightly, just enough for him to see who or what was there.
OOC Notes
"Oops," She muttered under her breath, she hadn't meant to swing into the door. She turned around, and saw the man standing up against the gas machine, a gun pointed at her, looking directly at her. Not sure what else to do, Tessa waved to show she meant no harm. She briskly walked towards the man, hoping her would not shoot, and suddenly realized that it was just a teenager, sixteen or seventeen.
"Hey," She said quietly, careful not to sound opposing, "Are you okay?"

He sat up straight, and one hand gripped onto the stirring wheel. "You can hop in if you want, I'm not sure where I'm supposed to go now, so do you know anywhere besides this awful place?

"I know but buut..."
Reaine was interrupted by the exploding sound of splintering wood. Rain screamed "YOU FREAKING IDIOT, GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!" Reaine froze up and Rain took the opportunity to take over and jump out the window. It was perfect timing because they cleared the roof and started jumping to the next house just as the rooms door was broken down. "Reaine, I am sorry I did that but We must survive this and escape." Reaine said nothing but she was still crying. Rain carried on in silence jumping across the rooftops.

"OH MY GOD, IF I COULD SLAP YOU I WOULD....THERE ZOMBIES, IT'S THEM OR US."
"but but......."
"No buts, shut up......."
"fine....I'll be quiet and stay out of your way."
Rain walked over behind the counter and grabbed two desert Eagles and a chest holser for them and slipped them on. She then smashed the window and took the few rounds of ammo there. She walked out but spotted a small black outfit on one of the racks. (SEE PICTURE ON CHARACTER) She slipped it on before going to walk around the store for any other supplies....and to also get something to eat.
OOC Notes
She walked back to the food isle to see if she found anything else she may need. On her way there, she saw a first aid kit, complete with iodine, neosporin and rolls of bandage and other medical necessities. Since she thought the chances of someone getting hurt were quite good, she took that as well. She found those little bottles of five hour energy, and swept them in as well, figuring that they'd endure some sleepless nights, and would need the energy to stay alert. She jogged back to the food isle, the backpack was getting heavier and heavier, but it still wasn't that full. She ended up sweeping in more bottled water, some flavor packets (just to keep it interesting), and a bag of apples (since they're easy to eat, don't go bad too quickly, and if you throw them hard enough at someones head, it could probably knock them out). She dusted off her hands, the backpack slung over her shoulder. She started to walk out when something caught her eye. She walked back a couple steps and saw a box of mini LED flashlights. She grabbed them, putting them in the backpack, also grabbing a box of AA batteries. She started to walk again, but she started to hear voices, like the ones she heard when she had entered the store. She turned around, and saw a girl in a short, black dress walking, her long red-brown hair billowing behind her at her brisk pace. She seemed to be talking to herself, two different voices coming out of her mouth as if she were replying to herself. Tessa glanced around warily, to see if there was anybody around that she could be talking to.
"Excuse me," Tessa called out to the little girl, "Are you alright?"
OOC Notes
Andrew stopped and saw Tessa with two other girls, more survivors. One of them looked pissed, while the other looked like she just cried. "Is there something wrong?" he asked looking behind the counter to see a dead zombie on the ground.

Amy was going about her business, cooking dinner by herself in her own lonely home. She sighed. She would have to go grocery shopping soon. She jumped at a sound coming from her back yard and looked through the small window. A man had tripped over a fallen branch. Being the paranoid woman she was, she immediately reached for the shotgun that sat beside her. She pulled the back door open and held the gun up, trembling a bit. "Hey, you're trespassing!" She was hoping the man would get up and go away, but instead he lie there on the ground, struggling to get up.
With another sigh she tried to steady her gun and stepped out into the back yard. She stood over the man now. She looked down and gasped. The branch he had tripped over had taken off a leg. She rushed into her garage and popped the keys into hear mustang. She was impatient and the garage door was just too slow. The roof of the car scraped with a hideous screech against the door as she accelerated. The street was covered with the walking dead and all Amy could do was mow them down. There was no reverse option for them, the only way to put them down was to stop brain function and she knew it. Blood sprayed over her white car as she bumped down the road. She had to find a way out.

"I don't know," Tessa said quietly enough that only Andrew could hear, glancing at the little girl in the black dress. "She won't look at me, and she's talking to herself. I think this entire thing has shocked her, maybe she'll return to normal in a little bit. But in the meantime, we should probably get moving. Once someone else finds that road Isaid about, zombies will follow, and we'll never get out unless we have a boat. I don't think missing our chance is an option, because I doubt we'll get lucky with the boat thing."
Tessa walked back to the little girl. She didn't know how old she was, and she had no idea if she'd be okay, but she talked slowly and gently to her.
"Hey, are you okay?" She asked, the girl couldn't be more then ten or eleven, she guessed, "We are going to get out of this place, if you come with us, alright?" She watched to see if the little girl would follow, or reply. Any way she could respond would be good.

Reaine looked up, she had been eating while Rain slept. A girl with light red hair was standing over her. "Hey, are you okay?"
"She put the food down, "uh...I'm....I....." She started crying again and it woke up Rain. Rain in the back of Reaines head (sorry i kinda don't know how this would work in RL) and took in her surroundings. She noticed the two standing in front of them. "Reaine, stop crying. It's making you look bad." Reaine stopped crying and brushed the tears away. "sniff, okay....."she looked back over at the other two
"I'll come........ I'm Reaine......and this is Rain."
"Hi, you don't have to watch Reaine, I can do it find. After all I don't want to die."
they stood up and rain bruched herself off. "rain.........I'm scarred........you do what you want........I'll just........"
"fine fine whatever." She turned to Tessa. "What's your name?"
OOC Notes
"I'm Tessa," She introduced herself, "Sorry if we bothered you two. Are you here all alone? I mean, it's a long way out of town, and it's best not to go alone." She wasn't sure if Reaine/Rain would ever recover, and she wasn't sure how to address them both. It was all very confusing to her, but it seemed like Rain was easiest to talk to.

Another one of his co-workers, Ted Grant, approached Steve, warning him that if the boss saw him like this, he would be fired. Steve made no indication that he even understood, then leapt on Ted without warning. He bit into Ted's neck, ripping out veins while he screamed in horror. Blood began to pool everywhere, and without even thinking, Joseph grabbed his office chair, rushed up, and hit Steve as hard as he could. He flew off of him, but was up in seconds, and came after him. The look in his eyes was horrific, and Joseph hit him with the chair until he was absolutely sure Steve was dead.
In all the commotion, Ted had died from having his jugular ripped in half. One of the other office workers, Tammy Page, went to cover his body, when he suddenly jerked up. Seeming to come back from the dead, Ted bit deep into her leg, and Tammy fell. Ted began to eat on her, and Joseph was terrified. Within an hour, all of his co-workers had been turned into zombies. Now, they were all looking to eat him.
Joseph ran for his life, knocking over anything he could in an attempt to slow them down. Still, they kept on, and he dared not look back as he approached the emergency staircase. Then, something caught his eye. A red, glass case was mounted on the wall, and inside, was a fireman's axe. This was to be used in case a door was blocked during a fire. He smasshed the glass with his hand, the tiny pieces of glass biting into his hand.
As he removed the axe from the case, he thought that this was as good an emergency as any to use it. As a zombie approached, he swung the axe, sending its head into an adjacent wall. With a naked need to survive, Joseph began to hack at the zombies, always aiming for their heads. One thing Hollywood had always taught moviegoers was that the brain was the only weak spot of a zombie. Kill the brain, kill the zombie; simple as that. His suit stained with blood, Joseph left the enemies he had returned to the dead and bolted down the staircase.
Zombie Steve's handiwork was evident, as he was forced to cut down more zombies on his way to the parking garage. He took out his key and got in his car, thankful that the engine turned over. As he was about to tear out of there, the zombified parking attendant leapt upon his windshield. It beared its rotten teeth and began hitting the windshield. Punching the gas, he let the speedometer climb to fifty before he slammed on the brakes. The zombie flew off, busting its head on the concrete.
Joseph crushed its head with his tire for good measure, then drove through the pandemonium-laden streets on his way home.
"Please be all right," he said under his breath, referring to his wife and two kids at home.
As he squealed into the parking lot, he took his axe up to the door and opened it. The house was all clear, but then his wife, Cyndi, came tearing down the hall at him. The look in her eye and the blood around her mouth made it clear that she had been turned, but Joseph could not find it in himself to butcher the woman he had loved since high school. Crouching down, he threw the axe at her horizontally, tripping her up.
Retreating down the hall, Joseph ran into the master bedroom. Tears stung his eyes as he rifled through the closet, pulling out a shoebox with his .38 caliber pistol in it. Pulling it out, he loaded it and pulled back the hammer. As Cynthia came into the room, he turned to her.
"I'm sorry," he said with a cracking voice as he took aim and fired a single round into her head.
Her head jerked back, and she collapsed to the floor.
Joseph lowered the gun and hung his head, knowing that his work was not finished yet. If his wife had been turned, then his two children, eight-year-old Thomas and six-year-old Annie, had probably been turned, as well. Tears now completely blurred his vision, but he wiped them away. Moving into the living room, he headed down the hall into the kid's rooms. He opened Thomas' door, and found him sitting on his bed. The boy snarled at him, and Joseph took aim.
However, before he could take the shot, he felt his legs go out from under him. Annie had tackled him with strength far surpassing her size. As she prepared to bite into him, he took aim and fired once, killing her. However, Thomas was upon him, and Joseph's gun was knocked away. He got up and kicked his son back onto his bed. Thomas sprang back up, and leaped into the air as Joseph turned and fired.
Fear had caused him to keep pulling the trigger, even though the first shot had killed Thomas. When the gun could only offer an empty click, he staggered out of the room, and collapsed against the wall. He rested the barrel of the gun against his forehead and uttered heart-wrenching sobs. His whole life had been turned upside down, and now he had nothing. There was no job, no family, and no reason to keep going. All because of those...damn zombies.
His eyes opened and hardened in anger. He gritted his teeth and uttered a primordial scream of soul-shattering pain and unsuppressed rage. When he could scream no more, he found a reason to keep going. Those zombies had taken everything from him, but they had not taken his life. As long as he could yet draw breath, he would make them pay. Leaving the house and getting into his car, he promised himself and his family that he would annihilate every last zombie.
OOC Notes
Automatic rifles, sniper rifles, and shotguns all lay before him, and he was going to take them all. He grabbed an M16 and loaded it with some ammo while sticking more ammo in the bag. It reminded him of his days in the Army, and he decided that this would be his main weapon. He set it down and packed an AK-47 in his bag, as well as a few other automatic rifles. A semi-automatic sniper rifle was loaded, and he slung it over his back. After loading shells into a SPAS-12 shotgun, he secured it around his waist.
After he had loaded up all the guns, he left the store and stowed them in the back seat. He kept the M16 in his passenger seat, in case he needed it. Now, it was time for him to get some new clothes, something that fit the new him. Joseph drove to the mall, and went inside. He was full expecting a Dawn of the Dead situation, and that was what he got. As soon as he went in, he could see zombies everywhere.
Setting the black bag down, he secured the gunbelt around his waist, and placed the M16 clips inside so that he could reload if he needed to. Staying in the crouch, he took aim with his M16 and fired, taking down a zombie. The others were alerted, but were not quick enough to avoid being gunned down by him. The Army had taught him to use three shot bursts. Now that his rage had reignited his military instincts, he only needed one. When every zombie he could see was dead, Joseph replaced the clips and went up the escalator.
He hit up the clothing store and changed into a pair of black combat boots, camouflaged jeans, a black tank top, and a black sash that he tied around his forehead. Looking into the mirror, he saw that he looked like Rambo, which was a very good thing. Looping the gunbelt through the belt loops, he gripped his M16 and left the store. Joseph proceeded down the escalator, and casually bumped off a few straggler zombies. Leaving the mall, he turned and proceeded down the sidewalk. Where he was concerned, the safety was off, and the war was on!
