Introduction
Marvelously gifted with the power to do what most are afraid to do: show compassion. Given the god-like power to correct the world around them, they are hailed as chosen ones whenever it seems beneficial. However, when the populace needs a scapegoat, someone to blame for why things go wrong, they look into the faces of their saviors, spit and say "This is all your fault!" And still, these guardians stand and do what they were called to do: protect, to show the world that power doesn't need to destroy you, break you down, make you into a monster. No.
They demonstrate that power can make you even more human.
Still, they are the misunderstood, the delinquents of circumstance. Loved and hated because they do what no one else will, and that is to become something far greater than a tyrant. And the question is, when the world is so willing to turn its back on you, why do you continue to fight for it? Is it because it's the right thing to do? Is it because you still believe in the world? The answer is simple: no. When the world wants you to rise and dig them up from their grief, just so they can bury you with blame, the answer is because it's what you need. You need to protect, you need to help. Why? Because it's all you know.
Being a hero, being a savior, is everything you could ask for, because it's what feels right. Looking in the mirror, and staring at the world behind him, a true hero says "This is what I fight for." And from the darkness his enemy arises, and he smites it back into the abyss, just to resurface a demon of blame and pointing fingers: humans.
Given this, the real question isn't "What do I fight for?" or "Why do I still do it?"
Not at all. These questions are trivial, and need no answer. . .
The true question, given all that occurs when the world hates their lover, is not so simple. It is a catastrophic conundrum of riddle, and the answer is so terrifying that it is bound to rip apart the soul of he who shall inquire. A question so horrifying, so brutal, and so clearly asked that it can only produce confusion, with an epiphany impossible to find. The question, at all, isn't "Why do I do it?" That question was answered. The real question is this:
"Why do I still care?"
Rules
1. No godmoding. This is a hero roleplay, but that doesn't mean you are the strongest.
1.5. The number of heroes that can be played is limited to five (5), and villains are a touchy subject. If you wish to play a villain, don't make them overbearing and obnoxiously terroristic. Also, try to create human characters that interact with the heroes in some way (family, co-workers, etc.)
2. See that tag that says "advanced"? That's what I mean. If you want a part in here, you'd better show me that you're worth it. I will tear everything about your writing apart if you show me otherwise, and I have no tolerance no remorse for bad writing.
3. Your grammar is a must. This should be self-explanatory. If it isn't take an English class.
4. Be detailed, in writing and character creation. If I don't like your character, they will not fly (no pun intended).
5. Mediocrity is not welcomed here. Just because this is a superhero roleplay does not mean it will be a walk in the park where you can bust everything up and whatnot. That is not the theme here.
6. Participation is mandatory. 1-2 posts a week is necessary. Do NOT post too much, and allow others to get their part of the story in before you jump right ahead.
7. Have fun. Enjoy this roleplay. I know these rules sound harsh, but if you abide by them, this roleplay will be enjoyable, I promise.

Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
That's how I look at it anyway. Going to be making a character tonight/tomorrow. I need to get my creative juices flowing again.
derp: What is the setting of the roleplay, before I delve too much into my character. I assume it's modern earth in a fictional city?
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
@Tabris: *huff* No I didn't! I looked away, and looked back, and BAM- there you were.
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
@Tabris: Well, as I explained to Lifecharacter earlier, villains in a roleplay such as this is a rather touchy issue with me. Sure, they keep things exciting and keep heroes on their toes, but they also add an element to the story that just doesn't fit in this concept, unless you plan on making a Ra's al Ghul or Joker-type character like in Batman Begins or The Dark Knight respectively, darker, more serious enemies that bide in the darkness and wait rather than a daily threat as is seen in cartoon hero shows.
Again, if you wish to procure a villainous profile, by all means feel free. Note, however, that any reason I find that would compromise the structure of this roleplay's tone will find your villain scrapped.
Also, I'd like it if the whole "Angel" concept were strayed from. Sure, it's hard to find an original power (my character employs electric abilities), but treading on that territory seems almost supernatural and is pseudo-genuine as far as character creation is concerned. It would feel stale and fake in a sense, in my opinion.
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
I also have a faint idea what to do with him. Are we having villains in this RP? Just a random question because if so then I wouldn't mind playing one of those as well. I'm always best at villains. Anyways, i'll create my character when you reply here. ^^
Thanks!
PS: Stilts... you so stalked me over here. You know it's true.
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
Anyway, I was lurking... But I was wondering if I might take a hero spot? I was actually thinking I'd make him sort of a "fallen hero"- not really a villain, but more like a hero fallen from grace: already so beaten down by societal ills, that he can't help but ask "Why do I care?", "What do these people really deserve?"
If you don't like this idea, that's fine as well :)
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
I have to go to college now but i'll be back later so i'll re-read the whole introduction and come up with a good enough background for my Angel.
Thanks in advance,
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
If you can create a villain that doesn't take this roleplay in the wrong direction, then by all means go for it.
I will, however, be limiting the number of heroes (or villains) to play as, so more people can make human characters that interact with the heroes (or villains).
And no, there are no character sheets. Just say what you can about your character, the rest I expect to be revealed throughout posting.
Re: [OOC] When Gods Must Die
1. Is it just superheroes or are there villains as well?
2. Do you have any requirements for a character sheet or a skele for it?
[OOC] When Gods Must Die
This is the link to my new roleplay, "When Gods Must Die". This is a dramatic, gritty, and suspenseful superhero roleplay, focused around the theme of superheroes struggling to keep appearances in a world that scorns their existence until their assistance is needed. Yes, there will be action, but the main theme is the previous one stated. So please, look this over and join if you wish.
Thank you.
