Introduction

The place is 1594 England, during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. A group of wealthy families have been tied together for reasons lost to time. On their estates in the country just outside of London, Their children take a break from their schooling. Eager to reacquaint themselves with old friends they immediately begin to socialize and have fun.

One lazy afternoon one of them shows up with a book they had found in a basement. The book is an old tome of witchcraft. Curious they all begin to read the book. The pages promise untold power in the form of ritual spells. Skeptical, but looking for a bit of fun they all agree to meet up at midnight and try one of them out.

That night, with the mood set by candles and robes they begin the ritual to conjure something simple. A little fire and smoke. The ritual works and the results startle them all. After having a laugh they decide to meet the next night and try something bigger. The next night they succeed again. Now thoroughly curious, they begin to wonder if there is something to this book.

Over the next couple of days they experiment with bigger and bigger spells. They begin to summon small animals, create treats and pull a few pranks. All good fun to be had during the summer. One day however they discover another book. A family history. Upon reading they discover their families are all decedent of a line of practitioners! Spurred on by this news they continue to use their new found magics in secret. However, one night, someone gets a little carried away. Something terrible happens and now the church is looking for them. Afraid for their life, they escape to the company of their friends. Upon hearing the news they make the decision to leave together. In their reading they have heard a tale of a small Celtic village far to the north in Scotland where witchcraft is said to have originated. They decide this is the best place to run to. So after stealing away some supplies they head out in the dead of night. Fearful of pursuit and the consequences of being caught.

Now these friends, a group of rich kids who have never known hardship in their lives, must venture across a country on their own to escape violent persecution. All they have are their wits, their friendship and an ancient spell book to carry them to safety. How will they fair, when the whole world seems to be crashing down upon them?

Rules

Try not to post one liners if you can help it. If you're going to have a conversation with a lot of one line replies I suggest getting a hold of that person in PM and sorting out the whole conversation and posting it as one whole.

There will be no GM to control the NPC's and minor characters. If one is required for the story then feel free to bring them in with your own post. You'll get to control them for as long as necessarily.

If you don't post for a couple days I reserve the right to plot device you out of the story after a fair warning. If you do decide to leave then PM me and I'll write you out of the story if you haven't done so yourself already.

As always, romance is encouraged however keep in mind the age of your characters and the 5 rules of the site.

This will be a semi-realistic roleplay. Witchcraft will take time and preparation. So no spontaneous casting. Fighting is allowed but we want to keep it light on the combat.

The characters will be between 10 and 16. Gender/preference doesn't matter. Siblings are allowed but I'd like to keep at least 3 families in the group. We're looking for between 4-6 people to join.

The RP will begin as everyone shows up the estates. Once your character is approved then feel free to post your introduction. The story will be advanced based on your guys posts. As an example, whoever first posts about finding the book gets the book.

There I threw down a very skeletal character (boy). I'll develop him more as we role play. Anyone else who wants to do the same (because I know you're all lazy) is welcome to do the same. I'd like to get this started!

Elizabethan era London. A group of young noble teens begin to dabble in witchcraft out of boredom. Unbeknownst to them, they are the decedents of witches who are actually capable of performing the rituals and begin to screw around with things. At first it's harmless fun. Then a little mischief, but one of the members gets cocky and starts to perform ever larger and larger spells until he does something so grand it attracts attention to him. Suddenly the church is looking for this person. He goes to his friends for help and together they flee from persecution across the country side. Out here they meet new challenges as they were used to the life of luxury they had before. Tempers flair as they trek across the lands under constant pursuit, to a place they had only heard of vaguely spoken of of their books. A place where the ancient traditions of Celts have kept witchcraft alive in a remote place to the north.
