Description

Asterion stands at a lean and taughtly muscled 5'10". He would not normally cut the most imposing figure, he's not incredibly tall, he's not broad shouldered, and he's not massively muscled. But the look in this youth's eye, and the myriad of scars that criscross his rough and leathery skin, burned a light brown by seven years spent in the sun and wind, and marked from youth, make him intimidating nonetheless. His hair is honey gold, as are his eyes, yet his eyes hold a hard note, every bit as sharp, and tough, as his scarred and wiry muscled body. His hair is short and unkempt, often full of twigs and leaves, and his clothes are similarily dirty. He wears a rough hide vest, its sharp brown fur poking up and out from the vest, similar to his own hair, and a once white linen breeches, that hang to the knee, where they are cinched tight. A broad, worn, leather belt is worn around his waist, with a long, worn old sword hanging from it on his left side. His Kethadrian Crystal hangs around a simple leather thong, and is an unnaturally large chip, almost a small crystal blade.

Personality

Asterion is quiet, though well spoken when he does choose to speak. Hardened by a difficult life, and disdainful of rich Kethadrian culture, he is very much a loner, and outsider. He is also highly distrustful of the King, and his court, despite the fact that he is technically under his protection. He comes off as aloof, arrogant, and dangerous, with an uncontrollable temper. It could be said that Asterion is as much beast as he is man.

Equipment

-His Kethadrian crystal, almost a small blade, which hangs on the leather thong around his neck.
-A large sword belted to his waist.

History

Asterion's true origins are unknown, all that is known for sure is that he was sacrificed to the Minotaur as an infant, left to die in the Labyrinth. By who, or why he was chosen as a sacrifice remains unknown. However, unlike most, he did not die in that hellish maze, but was instead blessed by the gods. In the Labyrinth he grew up in eternal darkness, raised by the beast himself, the Minotaur. His other senses compensated for the limited sight he was allowed in the dark, his sense of hearing, and smell incredibly heightened, even his sense of touch heightened, so that he could easily detect movement by the shifting of the air in the still of the Labyrinth, moved by unseen prey. At the age of 12, he found the exit, and left the maze, where he was found by the Watcher, and returned to Kethadrian society. For several years he had to have a constant guard following him, to prevent him from returning to the maze, and he often cried himself to sleep, missing the Minotaur.

After 7 years on the fringes of royal society, living in Kethadrian buildings, eating Kethadrian food, and watched over by the Kethadrian government, he has come to accept, if not enjoy, his status in society. He is seen as a figure of legend, one of the the first Gifted to be found, and the only one to have grown up in the Labyrinth. As such, he is granted a certain level of status, floating on the outskirts of the Kethadrian court, but also looked at with caution, the poeple and the king wary of the wild youth. He spends much of his time now roaming the wilder lands, hunting, fishing, exploring. Sometimes at night, it is said that you can hear him bellowing at the moon like an enraged beast, and an answering call can be heard reverberating from deep within the depths of the maze.

If he has a gift as the gifted children are said to, it is as of yet unknown by the King and Kethadria at large. While he is in touch with nature, and the Symphony to a greater degree than nearly any other living person, he does not seem to be capable of magic, or even Kethadrian elemental manipulation at this point. Despite this, he should not be underestimated, his senses are far more acute than that of any normal man, and he was raised wild, his skills with a blade unsurpassed by any foe he has fought, and his skill in unarmed combat can only be compared to that of a wild animal hunting, defending its young, or backed into a corner. He is also skilled in other related matters, climbing, tracking, hunting, etc...
