Introduction

Welcome to the Nvda Wolfpack

one of the oldest packs living on the Frontier. Once this pack was feared by all others becuase of it's strength and numbers; not to mention it's legendary leader, Wahya. Wahya the black wolf led the Nvda faithfully, and it was expected that his sons would be great.
Wahya had fought the Great Bear, had raced the Swift Eagle, and rumor has it he was even feared by the Two-Leggeds.
Yes, while Wahya was leader the pack prospered. It seemed as if the pack would stay that way forever, but one night the Nvda Pack vanished.

There was nothing to predict the vanishing of the pack. Everything was going well. Wahya's first pups had just been born some days ago, and they would soon open their eyes, there were four of them; though one of them, a white female, was not expected to last long.
The last litter that had been born before them were almost a year old and getting used to hunting with the pack. Wahya watched over them that night as the moon glistened on the lake near them. A strange call was heard from across the lake, and by morning the Nvda pack was gone.

Present Day:
Although the Nvda pack has vanished there are rumours that there were survivors of that night, perhaps the fledgling hunters had broken away and joined other packs, perhaps the newborns had somehow survived whatever took their familiy and were rescued by charitable clans; all anyone really knows is that the great pack is still outmatched, and if there were survivors they either can't remember the events of that night or it's just too horrible.
Recently the clans have been tense and the increasing number of rogues seems to be adding to the tension. Food is scarce this season and the number of healthy pups has been few. The packs must decide whether to band together or fight eachother to live. While still the mystery of the call looms over them.

Character choices:
We need mostly wolves but one or two bears won't be turned away.

Ranks will be given as the game goes unless I say otherwise, if you want to be a part of the the Nvda you need to start as a Rogue. (we will need Alpha's to represent at least two other rival clans)

"It is a great privilegde you know?"
"It may be..."
"Then why not not jump at it? If I were in your position-"
"You'd already be in his den."
"Why you insolent little..."
"I have to go."
Ayla sood from her spot next to the older female and walked a ways away before sitting down on her haunches, thinking. She had been given a great honor, or so she was told, but having to be with that creep of an Alpha didn't sound like an honor to her. She thought she would refuse.

She went over to the large Alpha male and stood behind him. "Have you considered my offer some more?" he asked.
"I have."
"Well then?"
"The answer is no."
The black wolf spun around snarling and snapped, "No? You are telling me no?"
Ayla's ears went back in irritation, "Why yes, I know that is a foreign word for you..."
The Alpha barked furiously, "Watch it pup! You don't know what you're giving up! You would have power and you would rear warriors of great caliber! You would have me!"
Ayla snarled slightly, "Actually I don't want you...you aren't my type."
The Alpha broke after that he jumped on her wrestling her to the ground trying to force her to give him his way. She fought back. After a few minutes of rolling in the dirt both wolves were bruised and bleeding slightly, and the Alpha backed off but didn't let his gaurd down.

"You have twenty seconds to get out of my sight..." He snapped
"I've been waiting for the invitation for years." Ayla said before trotting away from the pack and out into the wilderness on her own.

Cano lie in wait, he heard a rustle and sprang into action. He pushed himself to the edge of his limit. He ran and jumped and ducked as obstacles appeared into his path. His pray was fast but it wasn't fast enough to get away from him. It slowed down and he took his chance and grabbed the rabbit right as it jumped for a hole. He slowed down and killed it by stepping on its head, then he lay down and started to pant. He hadn't run that hard in a while and his old age seemed to be catching up to him. He started to chew on his new meal but then he heard a a fight that sounded a lot like two wolves. Then he heard what sounded like an angry Alpha: "You have twenty seconds to get out of my sight!" He wondered what kind of wolf would purposely get themselves kicked out of their pack, and then remembered his own past of constantly getting kicked out and huffed in laughter. That would be my kind of wolf he thought to himself. Then, he went back to chewing on his food.
It was several minutes later when a young female walked into the clearing where he lay. He stood up, his tail wagging slightly he said, "Hello, am I to assume that you were the one recently expelled from your pack?"

((sorry was on a school trip to DC))

Ayla looked up suspiciously at the new wolf, "Yes...but I never truly counted them as my pack. I didn't belong there anyway..."
She stopped before she said anything else. Her tail remained slightly rigid in agitation. "Who are you and why are you evesdropping?" she said with a little growl.

She kept a slight distance from the old wolf and waited; she wouldn't get nearer until she was sure she trusted him.

Cano huffed in laughter again. "I suppose you could call it eavesdropping, but really I just wanted to eat my meal here. It is strange that a wolf as young and healthy as you would leave your pack. What did you do to anger the alpha?" He sat down and yawned, a sign of his peaceful intentions. He avoided her eyes as he waited for a reply. He didn't want to start a fight, he was just curious.

Ayla wrinkled her nose and eyed the wolf with suspicion, "I did nothing but deny him something he wanted...but you still haven't answered my question. Who are you?"

If she had learned anything while living with the pack, it was to not trust anyone too easily; even your own pack members. But this wolf seemed harmless at the moment and she had a feeling-- perhaps a mislead one-that if he caused any trouble she wagered she could take him.

"Oh, I thought I had told you already." He nodded his head in a regal bow. "I, am Cano. I too have no pack but I find that it has suited me quite well." The young wolf seemed to be sizing him up and he almost laughed again, if only she could have seen him in his prime. "Now may I be as graced to know your name sweet miss?" He asked with a grin. He had finished his meal fairly quickly but was still hungry he was also getting a little thirsty. He wondered how long this talk would be...

Ayla had to admit despite being a bit over curious, the old wolf was a smooth talker. She remained standing but relaxed a little bit, "I am Ayla, my teacher, Tai, gave it to me, he said it means moonlight."
Tai was a great bear who had found her when she was a pup and decided to take care of her as his own (instead of eating her for lunch), until he died when she was five months old.
Ayla's white fur blew in the wind over her small build, she had been the runt of her litter and it certainly showed, but she would never let it stop her. But, it was also the reason for several of the scars that marked her skin.
She perked her ears forward and asked the old wolf, "Are you going somewhere?

"Well I was debating about heading in the direction you came from, but that probably is not the best idea at the moment. Let us see, its still morning, so I will continue to follow the sun." With that he stood up and sniffed the ground, "But first, do you wish to help me catch a deer? I smell the recent tracks of a... doe and two fawns. They are probably headed towards water. If you want, I could use your help. If not, I will have to be on my way..." He continued sniffing the ground to be sure of which way the deer went but he also waited for a reply.

Ayla sniffed the air to see if he was telling the truth. She could smell the faint smell of deer, headed in the direction of Moon Lake. Ayla thought for a moment on what she would do until her stomach decided for her; growling loudly, she had not eaten yet that day.
"Alright I'll come but only because I currently have nowhere to go..." Ayla said padding off in the direction of the scent.
She still kept a close eye on Cano, just in case.

"Good, here is the plan, you wait by the lake and I will herd one of the deer to you as best I can. Make sure that it does not notice you until you strike." With that he let her go and waited until she had ample time to find a hiding spot. Then Cano started to run, purposely making heavy steps and slight growls. The doe and fawns, split up and Cano started to chase the single doe when she split to the right. He followed her at a quick trot, always staying far enough behind her her to scare her. Soon they came upon where Ayla was hiding.

Ayla raised her eyebrows as Cano started instructing her on how to capture the deer; she was skilled hunter, she did not need to be told how to catch a meal, but she kept her mouth shut. Ayla found some tall grass and laid down and waited for the doe to run towards her.

The doe started to make her way at Ayla, and Ayla prepared to jump. 3....2...1.... Pounce! Ayla lept out of the grass and into the doe's face. The doe reared up squealing horribly. Ayla snapped at her prey's throat backing her up into Cano so she was cornered, then Ayla dug her claws into the doe's shoulder; trying to bring her down.

In a small makeshift den nearby where the two wolves were hunting a black wolf lifted his head to the noise. "Oh...what is that racket?" He groaned to himself. He rolled over away from the light that was pouring into the small hole he was sleeping in.

Cano then jumped onto the back of the doe and bit into the back of her leg. The doe screamed and whirled but Cano held on and eventually she slowed down and fell to the ground exhausted. He let Ayla perform the final blow and then started to dig in, there was no alpha to stop him from eating first.

Ayla helped herself to a bite and licked at the doe's ripped shoulder. Her muzzle was red from the doe's blood. She looked up at Cano, "Well, I guess this is where we part ways, old man, good hunting." She began to trot off down the edge of the lake. For some reason this lake seemed familiar, as if she'd been here before. She was unaware that this was the very lake by which she was born, and where her pack vanished.

Anuk lay in his hole watching the two wolves suspiciously. They had killed in his territory, or what he considered his territory, and he felt like he needed to retaliate. He watched as the white wolf stared to leave and his ears perked up when he saw her, "Beautiful one, that" he mumbled to himself, but then quickly rebuked himself because he knew he was going to have to punish her. He was about to do something foolish, he took a slow step up into the daylight.

Cano grunted something unintelligible to the young wolf and continued to eat. Soon, he was completely full and very nearly satisfied. He sighed to himself and looked at the rest of the carcass. He felt ashamed that the rest of it would go to waste, but there was nothing more he could do. He walked away heading towards the lake. On the way he unknowingly passed a wolf who had just begun to leave his den. Soon, Cano found himself at the lake. He was far enough from Ayla to give her space. Then he went to the lake and drank. When he finished, he lay down on some soft ground for a well deserved rest.

Anuk saw the old wolf and decided to go for him first. He crept through the tall grass until he was right upon the wolf. He growled loudly announcing his prescence.

Ayla was about 10 meters away from Cano when she heard the faint growl of an attacker. She spun arround expecting to be ambushed, but then realized the culprit was after Cano, not her. "Hey Old Man! Behind you!" She said as she caught sight of Anuk's black fur. She started to lope back towards them.

Cano jumped up and turned around, faster than one might have guessed he could move. "Telling me you were here was the worst mistake you could have made pup." He growled menacingly and stepped forward, hackles raised and tail upright. "I think you should back down lest you wish to lose a leg or two!" With that Cano sprang at the young wolf and aimed his fangs straight at the wolf's jugulars.

Anuk lept back in surprise. He rolled out of the old wolf's fangs and right into Ayla. He lept away from her and backed up. "This is my lake! You can't hunt here!" he snarled.

Ayla laughed, "Your lake? You're a loner! Loner's can't claim territory. This is Shawnee land." Ayla said with a little uncertainty. She looked at the elder wolf for confirmation.

Anuk lowered his head and shook it in defiance. "It may not be mine yet but it will be! and this isn't Shawnee territory this is the Nvda's land!" He lifted his head high as an Alpha would. "I will defeat the great leader of the Nvda and I will be the greatest Alpha in the land."

Ayla's ears perked up at the name Nvda she thought she had heard it before. She scrunched up her nose at the black wolf. He seemed to be about a year older than her perhaps two, but he also seemed to be a fool.

"You aren't very clever are you young one? The Nvda have been gone for years! I once knew the leader. It does not matter, either way. If you wish an alpha to fight, find the alpha that threw the other pup out. I have no quarrel with you until you have a quarrel with me." Cano stood on guard and watched Ayla, she didn't seemed affected by him calling her a pup, but then again he didn't mind being called old man. He waited for the new wolf to do something.

Ayla wasn't concerned about being called a pup, she had been called worse things while she was with the Shawnee pack, but if this black wolf actually tried to challenge to Shawnee leader, she would think him even more of a fool.

Anuk scoffed at Cano, "I don't need to prove myself to you! I am Anuk son Arthos the revered Alpha of the Shiloh wolf tribe!" He didn't seem to realize, however that although the Shiloh pack wasn't the lowest pack on the chain, they were outmatched by many in strength, numbers, and territory. Some wolves hadn't even heard of the Shiloh clan.

Ayla looked at Anuk mockingly, "Shiloh tribe? I've never heard of it." She tilted her head slightly watching the wolf's reaction. The real tribe that didn't ring a bell was this Nvda tribe, both of the male wolves seemed to now it, but it was a mystery to her.

"Then don't prove yourself to me. Really, I was doing quite well before you interposed in my rest. Think before you act and you may live longer. I know what it's like to want to be the top wolf, the alpha, but there's always someone bigger and stronger than you. Don't you forget that either of you, because there will be a time when you start a fight that you cannot win and no one will rise to your defense." With that Cano sat down, ears still forward and still ready for any sign of attack.

Anuk wasn't listening to Cano, he stared off into space, and then refocused after Cano finished. "Huh? Whatever just don't hunt here anymore!" He pranced off and laid down not too far away.

Ayla watched him go, "Pleasant...hey Old Man? Who are the Nvda? Everyone seems to know them..." She said her ears flicking forward.

"No one really knows," The old wolf said wistfully, "maybe it had something to do with the two-legged." He looked around and wondered but eventually shook his head. "One day they all just up and disappeared, many wolves know of the vanishing but nothing more. It really is a conundrum if you think about it."
