Name: Toby Gillard
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caucasian
Physical Description: Toby is a middle of the road 6', a fit 68kg with medium length wavy dark blonde hair and blue eyes. He's not super sporty but he has a pretty active social life and so gets plenty of physical activity which keeps him in good shape. His style tends to be mainstream, and he favours long-sleeve tops, bootleg jeans and dark, neutral colours. Sometimes wears a beanie if his hair is likely to become a pain in the a**.
Personality: Toby is a very intense person with a short attention span and a very low boredom threshold. If he's not interested in what people are talking about, he'll say almost nothing, but once you hit on a topic which currently captures his imagination, you can't stop him. Suddenly he'll just come into the discussion out of nowhere with barrelfuls of what he's learned. And he's always learning about something or other. Not to the extent that he's mastered any field or discipline, but in a 'faddish' sort of way, so his knowledge on any subject is always deeper than it is broad. Meaning that he can't truly be called an 'expert' at
anything. He'll try to make small-talk when the occassion calls for it, but he's not very good at it and he struggles to mask his boredom. That said, he's quite scrupulous and has an acute sense of justice and fairness. He'll never be deliberately rude to anyone unprovoked, and doesn't rise to anger very easily.
Likes: Media production (especially film), Documentaries, Rock music, cheese of all kinds, being out in the city.
Dislikes: Pointless conversation, people who are shallow, reality TV, dogmatic opinions, the smell of fish
Role: Male Hopeless 5
History: Toby is an only child who's parents are seperated, but on good terms. So growing up his time was split between living with each of his parents, who both lived in the city. He's had an urban upbringing and is very much in tune with cosmopolitan life. At school he performed well...so long as he could stay interested. His tendency to get bored quickly has stopped him from being exceptional, and he despairs about ever finding a subject which keeps his attention long enough for him to want to study it at university.
Sample Post: There it was; a crisp white envelope tucked inside his netbook. It confounded him completely, he couldn't even guess why anyone would want to send him a letter of all things. It was easy enough to contact him any number of other ways. Still, different was interesting, and interesting was good, so he unhesitatingly dug his finger into the fold and tore the envelope open. But just as he was about to pull the letter out, a slender hand appeared in front of him and softly took hold of the letter.
Toby looked up slowly, his lips parting in amazement at the figure which had appeared before him. No amount of incredulity could explain the situation away...he didn't know where she had come from, but something about her very appearance made it intuitively clear who she was. Silently, she unfolded the letter and bid him to read it. He obliged eagerly, fascinationg rising like a breaking-point tension in his chest.
The text of the contract took him by surprise. Had he done something to make this deity think he needed some sort of...help in that regard? He'd never been in hurry to find love, he'd just assumed it would happen at the right time. But this...this was interesting. And interesting was good.
Looking up, he nodded silently, took the pen, and signed his name in the allocated space. Yes, this was going to be interesting indeed.
Other: He likes to twiddle things in his fingers, a sign of his intellectual restlessness.
