G e i s h a. beautiful women who d a n c e, play m u s i c, and entertain the men of Japan. In 1923 in the hanamachi of tokyo, there was an okiya where many geisha played out their peaceful lives. Forever dabbling in the fantasies of men and stealing many hearts in the process. However....geisha cannot l o v e. If they do marry, they must renounce their proffession completely. Through painted faces and pleasant conversation there is a world for those to live love in secret shadows.

{h a n a m a c h i} : a Japanese courtesan and geisha district[<3]

{o k i y a} : the lodging house a maiko or geisha lives in during the length of her nenki, or contract or career as a geisha.[<3]

{m a i k o} : a Japanese word for dancing girl and is an apprentice geisha. [<3]

{e r i k a e} : a ceremony where a maiko (an apprentice geisha) becomes a geisha and begins to wear the white collar of a geisha instead of the red worn by apprentices.[<3]

{s h a m i s e n} : a three-stringed musical instrument played with a plectrum called a bachi.[<3]

{k i m o n o} : a Japanese traditional garment worn by women, men and children.
