Roleplaying Giant characters ( )

Postby dark_fox on Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:13 am

OK, some of you may already know about my character Kitila, who is a giant sized character. I wanted to discuss ideas, and see what people think about roleplaying such characters who would be a bit to large, some might say.

I don't plan on writing a whole big s'peal all in one post, I'd like to discuss it.

One thing I do notice in some roleplays, such as in chat, alot of people already have very powerful characters, and a giant character would be considered powerful. However, I don't plan on taking advantage of her size. Also where she is quite large, but her size comes at a price, limited space for her, being slower to react or to be agile, though to one her own size, she might be, but to those smaller, she is not.

So giant sized characters, what are your inputs on the matter, and being able to play one in either chat or Forum roleplay?

Its easy, think of it like an oversized load. You can't enter most places meant for your average human, so you either travel via roads or paths meant for mechs. You also realize you need a LOT of food to live, and injuries will hurt a LOT more since you have more body to patch up. Same problem as massive construction equipment. Its useful, but you don't see them in say suburb america because they don't fit there.

Most definatly, food would be the biggest problem to face, being a giant. Mech would require alot of fuel, but special anime fuel cells have taken care of that, heh.

While she would not fit in a suburb, dosn't mean she might end up there, for whatever reason... which wouldn't be a good thing for those living there, even if she dosn't mean any harm.

I don't think I would ever personally RP a giant, unless it was in a two part character, like in the movie Iron Giant, where its the kid and the Iron Giant. But I don't think they are automatically OP or anything.

Well, it has it's flaws, no doubt.

Food restrictions, healing hindrances, shelter. My eyes, it's a bit irrational. But that's never stopped me from allowing my character to interact with a much, much larger character.

My character Syno is only like, 5'9", 5'10".. I've used him to interact with Mechs. He spent the better part of a week sleeping in a nook behind the head of one, seeing as he couldn't figure out how to destroy it, so opted to take a nap and 'sleep' on the matter.

In a way, giant characters can be fun to engage.. but on the other hand, realistically, they're VERY difficult to maintain if you're trying to do it the proper way.

I use massive creatures on a regular basis. Not much trouble for me at all.

Really? I've had difficulty understanding how some people get by with giant characters. But, it is what it is, I suppose. If some can do it, I commend them. I myself, cannot.
