The pillow felt comforting and cool under Louise’s face. She snuggled underneath her blankets and waited for sleep to crawl over her. Imagining fanciful adventures she quickly dropped herself over the cliff of darkness. With her eyes closed she felt herself falling even though she was still on the bed. School was hard and life was boring. This was her escape.
When her lashes broke open see saw her room once more, but she was no longer Louise. Dashing across a tattered rug and past her dresser mirror she jumped through her closed window like a ghost. From the second floor of her house she glided down onto a country road. It was now the middle of the day, and the moon was just visible over the roof of her home.

Wearing an airy white lace night gown that she didn’t own in real life she reached out. The moon grew quickly larger as she rocketed herself upwards. The trip took only moments but the sky now sparkled with stars. Her feet touched down on velvety soft sand and before her lay the vast grey expanse of the moon. After leaping gracefully into a crater she took to brushing away the moon-dust with her fingers. A smooth glass handle felt cold beneath her palm.
Before she went on she crouched down and awaited those that were to come.
