Derek stared at the rapidly passing ground outside his window. He was in her mothers gold Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster, her travelling car as she called it. They were on a long boring trip to some major meeting his mother needed to go to, and as he would soon be an adult, she had decided he needed to know how these things worked. He grumbled for probably the quadrillionth time that trip.
"Stop whining Derek." his mother said in a stern tone. "You need to see how these things work." it was more a demand then anything else. Derek never told her no; she'd never listen if he did. His entire life he had been the heir to his mother's business, and was expected to act as such. 'Chance in fucking hell.' he thought as took his cell and text-ed his military pal.

"Yes mother." he grumbled. 'You bitch.'

As they drove in silence again, neither wanting to speak to the other, Derek reminisced about the days he spent with an adorable Asian shrine maiden. 'Wish she was here.' he pondered with an inwardly sigh. After two hours the car came to a slow halt. "We are......" his mother started to say as he bolted from the car. Before his mother could yell, Derek had melded into the crowd and vanished.

He then hooked up with his pal at the airbase less ten miles out of the town. Once he was changed out off the crap his mother made him wear, he left the country in under three hours and fell to sleep with his head on a female lieutenant's lap. The lieutenant ran her fingers through his hair and rubbed his temple. 'Poor Derek.' she thought with a small sigh. "What is it T'zoni?" "Just feeling bad for Derek?" she says as looks down at Derek. "You know that his heart is already taken." Nodding T'zoni knew that, but it didn't mean that she could steal every moment for later. When he was with the shrine maiden and didn't come to her ever again . 'So what if he not mine, atleast I know he cares if only a little bit.' she thought.

Aya wandered around her temple home aimlessly it was near dark and the visitors to the shrine had gone. She soon found herself in her garden and she smiled at all the beautiful sakura blooming, the cherry blossom festival was tomorrow and she was sure that there would be many tourists arriving. Aya sat on the ground amist the fallen petals, it looked like pink snow and felt like silk.


She sighed thinking about the festival, she would have to perform the sakura fan dance in front of many people . Aya frowned at the thought, the fan dance was a way for the eldest maidens to attract possible suitors so a new girl could take their place in the temple once the older maider had wed. Aya enjoyed her place at the temple and didn't want to be married off yet, not even including the fact that she hated almost all the young men in the area that her ryoushin would try to match her to. She didn't want them she wanted Derek and she missed him terribly.

Aya shook her head now as she stood back up and brushed off her skirt and she walked back inside the temple her mood sad and her thoughts on Derek

The following day, Derek walked through the city in a down guarded mood. As he pasted places his bitch of mother drug him to, he spotted a cherry blossom festival poster. "Taiho Temple." he said as he remembers the festival he attend. 'Aya.' he thinks as a buzz went through him. then he also remembered the telepathic link he had with her. Closing his eyes while taking a deep breath, Derek found the link and wished that had kept it cleaner. 'Never thought about it after I left.'

As the sun dripped, Derek leaned on a guardian lion as the crowd started to stream in to the temple. "Please remember me Aya." he says to himself, before hearing, "Yumuca-san!" Turning in time to see Kondorahu grabbing his arm, he would've said something if she wasn't dragging him inside. "What's the rush little sister?" he asked as the huge wooden doors swung open and maidens filtered in. "Aya-san's ryoushin want marry her off." Derek was equal parts understanding and annoyed with that, but wondered how Aya felt about it. 'Probably doesn't want to leave the temple yet.' "Stay here big brother." After Kondorahu enter the maidens shared room, Derek leaned on the wall with his eyes closed. "Gaijin." he heard. 'Taoku.' "Look who's talking ja-ku." With a growl the attedent stormed off.

"Aya-san, can you come with me?" Kondorahu asked taking Aya's hand and for all intents pulling her outside.

Aya sighed as she got into her sleeping robe for the night and let her hair down out of its loose tie when she saw Kandorahu running in to get her "What is it Imouto-chan?" she asked as she tied her obi in a simple knot and let Kondorahu pull her out the doors of their spacious bedroom. Kana-san and Akame-san ran inside the bedroom no doubt trying to sneek in before the sensei found them heading in after sunset. Aya breath caught in her throat as Kondorahu let go of her hand there he was standing in the open hallway just as he had last summer. "Derek?" Aya called softly leaving off the honerific. Kondorahu left silently leaving them by themselves in the hallway

"Aya." he says as he looked at her. Derek got off the wall and stood in front of Aya, "Heard you parents want to marry you off soon." Touching her arm he grins as the memory of the first time he met her. 'Wonder if she remembers to?' he thought rolling his head and heard his neck crack.

Aya sighed sadly and nodded her head “Okasan thinks I’m to old to stay with the temple much longer” she smiled at Derek when he touched her arm and she wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him “I’m glad you’re here but why and how?” she asked as she kept her arms around his neck but moved away slightl so she could look at into his eyes

"Why, cause I wanted get away from my tyrantical bitch of mother and how, a military friend." Resting her hands on her waist, Derek pulled her back and leaned on the wall. 'I love my mother, I do. But she is such a bitch I can't stand being around her.' he thought, letting his head rest on her shoulder.

Aya smiled at him widely “Well whatever the reason I’m glad you’re here you pretty much just made my whole week” she sighed “How long will you be around this time?” she asked in a timid voice she was worried he wasn’t going to be staying for long this time

"Not sure Aya, but it'll be longer than last time." Looking at her, Derek kissed her nose and rubs her cheek. "So, I saw the poster for the festival, guess you're goona be in it."Maybe I should buy a kimono or something.' he thought tilting his head to the side.

Aya immediatly brightened "Oh good" she said happily and she blushed when she felt his lips on her nose "Yes, it's my job to perform the fan dance this year" she said with a sigh she was looking forward to it hours full of make-up, hairstyling, and obi tying. "You must promise to watch and after i perform okasan said I could have fun at the festival" she grinned at the thought of spending the rest of the day in freedom with Derek

"Sure." he said as something came to him. Derek glanced around and saw Kana pop her head out, "Yes Kana?" She pulled her head back faster than spooked cat, "Will she ever grow a backbone?"

Aya smiled at him "Imouto-chan come out we know you were spying" she said in a sweet voice "She's still young" she told Derek as Kana-san poked her head back around the corner "Onee-san, You won't tell Sensei I was late coming in will you?" Aya smiled at Kana and shook her head pulling away from Derek "No as long as you promise to tell Sensei I'm sick and need to rest tonight instead of telling her I'm with Derek" She grinned as Kana nodded and ran off

Rubbing his neck as he sighed, "I remember that she ran from me when I came last time." Glancing at his watch, he softly huffs. "I better go, there's something I want to get."

Aya smiled at him "Yeah but so did everyone else you were pretty scary" she said letting out a laugh. She frowned now "Oh of couse" she said as she brushed her hair out of her face "You'll come back tomorrow though?" she asked hopefully

"Yeah." Turning he heads for the doors, then he stops and says, "Seeya Aya."

Ava smiled at him and blew him a kiss “See you tomorrow at the festival” she said as she turned and walked back into the shared bedroom

After spending the night cousin's house, Derek was at the shopping mall looking at a sleeveless kimono and wondered if Aya would like it. 'Maybe, yeah I'll get it.' he thought as the salesperson bagged it. Later, he was back at the temple minutes before the fan dance started. Kondorahu saw him and took a picture of him, looking at it as she entered the shared room and showed Aya the picture, "I think he got the kimono with you in mind Aya-san, through the sleeveless look is different." 'And just another way of letting everyone know the knows he's gaijin and doesn't really care.' she thought.
