Ryuuken Dojo OOC (not accepting members currently) ( )

Postby Kyo on Sat Jul 25, 2009 7:10 pm

An rp about a group of students. Thet all grew up together in the same neighborhood and go to the same high school. In the neighborhood they have a famous karate dojo Ryuuken that they have all gone to for years under the tutelage of a kindly old sensei. However when the old man turned seventy he left the dojo to his oldest son Kenshiro.

Looking to restore the dojo to its former glory Kenshiro begins to train them more seriously for a competiton.

Can the students withstand Kenshiro's training methods and endure the pressures of being a teenager and going to school as well.

Since this is an rp about karate I went and got some info about the names of the basic karate moves as well as descriptions of them which you will find right here

The Front Snap Kick
Lift the knee of the kicking leg as high as possible in front of the body,be sure to keep the fists tight, and the toes turned upward to prevent damage to the foot.

The Front Heel Thrust
This kick is similar to the front snap, but uses the heel for the striking area, and it has more power and penetration. The kicking technique is the same. However, you thrust more directly forward with this kick, and be sure to lock the leg for the full power to the heel.

The Side Kick
This is one of the most powerful kicks and is used for most areas of the body. Lift the kicking leg as high as possible to the front of the body, curling the toes of the foot inward for protection. Snap, and thrust the kick directly to the side and the target area; be sure to snap the hips into the kick for full power. The heel, or side of the heel, is the striking area. Keep the arm abovethe leg, down the side of your body to protect your ribs. This is probably the most devastat-ing kick and the hardest to stop when done correctly.

The Knee
This kick is used when the attacker is too close to use an extension kick and is quite capableof stopping the largest of men. Raise the knee directly up with power and speed to the strik-ing area.

jab punch (kizami zuki)
Begin the technique with your left arm at an angle of 45 degrees to your body. Your elbow one fist away from your body and your fist in line with your shoulder. Snap your fist forward at your target beginning the strike from your elbow and not your shoulder. Rotate the forearm and fist while doing this. Make sure there is no shoulder movement prior to launching the punch as this will alert your opponent to your jab punch.

uppercut (ake zuki)
To perform a right upper strike (age zuki) begin with your right hand by your side. Bring your hand (fist) out and upward toward your target (under the chin). To perform a second upper strike bring the first hand back while the other performs the strike.

middle elbow strike (chudan hiji ate)
From your hand in the ready position near your hip bone, bring your elbow straight forward, with the fist ending up near your face, palm facing your head.

palm heel strike (shotei uchi)
Begin with your hands tucked up under your arms in the ready position hands open with the fingers pointing upward and the heel of the palm forward, your thumbs tucked in and the wrist area tight. Thrust you palm towards your target, striking with the heel of the palm. Unlike other strikes such as Chudan Zuki there is no twisting of the arm with the palm heel strike

back kick (ushiro geri)
Begin by standing in a parallel stance feet shoulder width apart (Heiko Dachi). First look over your shoulder at your target, then thrust your heel towards your target as quickly and powerfully as you can. Your foot should be heel forward with your toes pointing downwards. The striking surface is the heel of your foot

Now these techniques can be altered by adding words like high, middle, or low as well as jumping or spinning.

This will be a drama themed rp so play it up I love drama.

Kenshiro (Ken) Orochi

40

A caring man he loves his students and thinks of them as his own children.

He fought in the underground arena for years. A profesional fighter he was happy to take over for his dad when he retired. However he has a lot of pride in his students and dojo and is sometimes hard on them but only because he cares.

Sounds like fun! I take karate myself, and I love manga with karate themes =^_^=
also, dragon fist sounds like an awesome style!

Name: Yumi Yusuke

Age: 17

Personality: Yusuke is quite an easygoing kid, almost nothing makes him angry. When he was younger, his mother sent him to Ryuuken to learn to focus, and because she knew the other kids would tease him for his high I.Q. Now, he spends most of his time either at the dojo or hanging out with his friends and crush (OOC: whomever wants to who joins later). He is very sly, and has a strong sense of right and wrong.

Bio: Yusuke is 6"2, with blonde hair (from his father) and piercing gray eyes. He either wears his school uniform, Ryuuken Gui, or blue jeans with a green polo and green and white striped sweater.

Pic: don't have one, will draw it later.

Ah, dude, this is awesome. I do Karate in real life, so I am in completely.

Name: Jason Hunt

Age: 17

Personality: Hardworking, caring, friendly, supportive

Bio: Jason began his training under the original sensei. When his son took over, Jason had to adjust quickly, especially since he was a green belt by that time. Jason has resolved to restore the dojo to its glory and make his first sensei proud, and no one will stand in his way.

Hey np when it comes to dedication I'm your man. How many members do you need to start your rp and whats about the average amount you guys want to post. I was thinking I'd do between five and eight paragraphs for the intro post with a one or two paragraph minimum, however during fights we won't be so strict as long as you can make three to five sentences. That sound about right to everyone if you want a higher or lower standard speak up.

I'd like at least two paragraphs per post. The more you guys give me to work with, the better I can do. I'm an advanced level roleplayer, so set me up, and I will wow you with some good material. I've even written over ten paragraphs per post, but let's not do that.

I am very glad to hear that you guys are dedicated. I want this RP to go on for some time.

I have another question: How many members do you need before we can start?

I'm good with two minimum also, although I tend to prattle on =^_^=
and I'd like to consider myself an advanced level Rper, I am a writer (sort of) after all

I think a rival dojo would be a good Idea, although to make it good we would need even more RPers, so we should leave it up to who ever joins, if there enough, all the better, if not, if it comes down to it we can RP those characters.

Thats fine with me I have to keep it a little light based on time restrictions. Like on weekends I have a lot of time and on weekdays I work so I post in the morning (Indiana time USA) and really late when I come hime. I do not know how many I need to start I hoped you could tell me I just joined this site a little bit ago XD.

Time's not so bad with me. I live in Illinois, so we live in the same time zone, Kyo. A rival dojo would be nice, and add a little bit of plot. I could play the dojo master of that one, and you guys could play the students of that group.

Well, there really is no set amount of people you need before you're "ready". We could start right now, if you want. We have a dojo master for Ryuuken and two students. That seems good enough for me. Then again, I'm fond of small roleplays.

I am as well, for some reason the story is lost with big groups. I live in Toronto, but times not a problem with me, I'm on summer vacation now. And I don't mind starting now.

So should we make character bio's for the rival dojo, and probably a name, something that is the opposite of "dragon fist" so... hououken (phoenix fist)? I dunno, something like that at any rate.

I am fond of Kakashou, It does not mean anything, but it sounds cool. I'll make a profile for the dojo leader, if you will let me.

OMG I just had a thought! What if the rival leader was Kenshiro's younger brother, and he started the dojo to get revenge on him and his father, or something like that?

That sounds too much like a movie. I mean, it's not a bad idea, but it is kind of a predictable idea.

OK, but how about this...It's his brother, but he does not know it is his brother. Both of them only find out toward the end of the story, and a tremendous family secret is exposed.
