"Well what's so funny about it then?" Ruby-Mae sighed, a frustrated expression on her face. But Ben appeared at the door, holding her bag of lollies. "Oh!" Ruby jumped up, suprised."Here you go, Rubs." Ruby blushed. "Thanks." She took them and closed the door. Slumping down onto a couch, she opened the lollies and stuck one into her mouth, eyeing him. "What? What's so funny?"

Shane sat down, a sly grin on his face. "Nothing, nothing at all it's just...Ruby and Ben sitting in a tree K-I-S-S-I-N-G." He sang. Shane laughed and ruffled Ruby's hair. "You can't hide that you like hi, you blush whenever you see him." He smirked.

"Stop being so immature." Ruby rolled her eyes and got up, taking another lolly before she emptied the packet into a jar and sat back down."Oi! Don't ruffle my hair!"

"Immature consists of two words you know, I'm and mature." He smirked. "I think me and this Ben kid should hang out sometime. I could possibly get him to ask you out to a square dance or whatever you country folks do around here." He shrugged. "I'm sure he and I could be great friends." Shane smirked.

Ruby scowled. "Whatever. Square dance? Did you even pay attention at school? Where they teach you about different cultures? Even I learnt that." Ruby aimed a kick at him but missed and hit the table. "Shit..that hurt." She winced.

Shane smirked. "Damn farm girl, don't you know how to aim?" He shrugged. "I always slept in that class. Either that or the teacher was really, really hot." He chuckled.

"I do know how to aim..I just don't normally kick people. I kick other things..." Ruby-Mae trailed off at the sound of a cow mooing. "Aww Bessie!" She sighed.

"Bessie?" Shane scrunched up his face in disgust. "You name your cows? Why, that makes it harder to turn them into hamburgers." He shrugged and messed with a piece on string on his jeans.

"We don't eat our cows, thank ya very much." Ruby-Mae shuddered in disgust. "And yes, I named Bessie when I was younger...The only animals we eat that we own..are our chickens...but sometimes we make milk and butter..and of course we eat eggs..but we sell them..we buy everything else..at the shops."

"You kidding me? I would expect a slaughter house next door if I lived out here." He frowned. "So you never go out to eat?" He groaned. "This place is hell!"

"I'm not kiding..Yeah..We go out to eat..but that's a treat..and I can cook quite well..so we don't need to go out." Ruby-Mae frowned. "What do you like? I'm cookin' tonight..so I can make somethin'..nice for ya.."

"I want some dang crab legs but that is definitly not happening around here. How about steak? Steak is good. Yeah, make some steak." Shane's mouth wattered at the mention of steak.

"I can't eat or make seafood..anyway.I'll make steak..what about desert?" Ruby-Mae was trying to be nice, hopefully her father realised her attempt, later when she would tell him that she was making that for dinner.

Shane shrugged. "Surprise me." He dismissed, running a hand through his hair. "Oh, but nothing too chocolatey, I hate chocolate."

"Okay then.." Ruby shrugged. Her iphone went off and she pulled it out of her pocket, glancing at the caller ID. She pressed ignored and slipped it back into her pocket.

Shane smirked and pulled his ipod out of his pocket. He figured he'd take a little nap until..."Shane!" Krysta called. Shane groaned. "What!?" He shouted. Krysta appeared in the doorway. "Your father's on the phone and wants to talk to you." Shane frowned and took the phone from her and hung up. "If he wanted to talk to me he would have called my phone."

"You should be nice to your mom." Ruby-Mae told him, and smiled at Krysta, before leaving the room and heading outside.

Shane rolled his eyes. Krysta smiled. "Why can't you be like Ruby?" Shane scoffed. "What? A country hick midget?" He muttered under his breath. "What was that?" Krysta asked. Shane huffed and headed for his room, putting the ear buds in his ear and blaring the loudest music he had on his ipod.

Ruby-Mae had gone outside and quickly come back in, sighing. "Dad? Can you cook some steaks for dinner..I told Shane I would but I dunno how to cook steak..I'm makin' desert though." Mark nodded. She smiled at Krysta. "What would you like for desert?"

Krysta smiled and tapped a finger on her chin. "How about tiramisu cake, Shane loves it and I can help Ruby if she wants." Krysta looked at Ruby and cocked her head. "You are the prettiest young girl I have ever seen!" She cooed.
