Rest In Peace.


I know what they say-
“You can move on.
You can be happy again.
They’re in a better place.”
But every time something comes around-
That I’d do with you,
I can’t help but wish it were different.

Even though I hope you are-
In a better place, that is,
Maybe chilling with a pop star,
Or eating some popcorn.
I can’t help it.

I want you here-
For a movie night!
For a sleepover.
For a kiss- on the cheek,
On the nose.
Eskimo kisses,
Even if we never did that sort of thing.

I know what they say-
“It’s okay to be angry.
It’s okay to be sad.
It’s all part of the grieving process.”

But that’s not what I feel,
I mean, I cried.
I raged.
I screamed at the world.
I asked why- and I begged.

But what I want the most,
Is to not have this knowledge.
That I’ll never wake up,
And see you again.

Because photographs never compare,
When someone is Resting in Peace.
