it had been more than an hour since her camper had broken down, and after getting all her stuff shoved into duffel bags, and grabbing her cat, alice gave up hope of finding a ride, and she wasnt just going to sit there and do nothing. she grabbed all her stuff and began too walk. it couldnt be that far from civilization, right? there were woods everywhere, and even though it seemed she was stranded in an endless forest, she could somehow hear the ocean somewhere. she was on a back road deep into the woods so she shouldnt have been able to hear it unless she was somewhere very close to civilization, which caused her to smile a little bit and to actually step back and enjoy nature.
when she exited the forest she still had a ways to walk, passing cottage after cottage before she got to one that said "open" on the door. a letter was attached to cabin 24 she checked the words, and the first thing she noticed was her mothers handwriting.
"great," she muttered, "shes followed me here!?" her good mood rapidly fled her, but instead the note replenished her excitement.
"my dearest alice," it started out. "i had a feeling you'd be needing this place. no thanks neccesary. your mom."
she checked under the matt where her mother always hid the key. the cabin was right on the beach and was a pretty decent looking structure.
speaking of the beach though, she unlocked the door and slipped on her bathing suit. she grabbed her surfboard (her guilty pleasure even though she wouldnt let her other friends know that, EVER.). as she hit the water she noticed another boy surfing, and a bunch of surfers hopping out of a blue van. for a moment she actually was about to go say hi to them.
