Ruling Demi-god: Litatio || Main Species: Human

PHYSICAL LANDSCAPE:

Litas is a massive kingdom, a good deal larger than all the others. It is comparable to the size of South America. The diversity through the land is astounding, there being tundra terrain to small deserts scattered about the colossal land. There is uniformity in the fact that most of the natural resources have been stripped and replaced with large, metal-based cities. Litas is by far the most urban of all the lands, having the most innovative of technology. Litas has a huge, hankering, towering wall that separates it from the other lands and not only keeps the civilians in (and considerably ignorant) but also the monsters out. There are remarkably few Demoni found in Litas.

CULTURE:

Like its landscape, Litas' culture varies. Though it seems the suppression of elves is present throughout all of it. There is extreme racism and prejudice diced out toward elves, many of them used as indentured servants and the free ones threatened to be attacked by bigoted radicals in every day life if they are so bold as to live in a big city. Some say that Litas' culture has been deluded, leaving nothing but money guzzling and over-consumption in its place. It is true that a good deal of the populace no longer believe in the existence of Sapentia and Dominatio, denying the fact that Demoni are real- let alone a danger. Furthermore, the idea that demi-gods exist is preposterous. Practically no ones believes that the true ruler of Litas, Litatio, is an actuality. They live ignorant, sheltered lives. The kingdom has managed to keep Demoni out of its gates and are able to squash any rumors of sightings. In Vincere, Redeemers aren't much needed and even when they are, they are used as a last-resort-this-is-kind-of-a-joke thing, treated with hostility. Of course, there are the old believers and the wise souls who know better, as there are always exceptions to the rule.

POLITICAL SYSTEM:

It is highly hierarchical, a caste system in effect. They have a parliament, a large council of elders that decides the rules. Nobody knows who is in this council or are allowed to hear the decision making done, the affairs secretive. It is only the head of the council, Mendax, who announces the news and dictates the country. He is an intimidating man, but also a beacon of hope in the grey lives of Litasians. There are very few who talk ill of him- and there are fewer who live after doing so- because he has successfully brainwashed the kingdom through fear and power. Such announcements only occur once a year or so, the council rarely actually addressing much of anything.
      Image

Despite the parliament only vaguely working out issues, the government seems to always be hovering around. Legionnaires, the soldiers working for the government to keep "peace", are men and women clad in heavy armor and large swords and bound to "put out" any problems that arise. Their presence is restricting but unavoidable. This is how they are able to keep word of Demoni sightings contained and the kingdom without any uproar or rebellions.

Despite all of these intrusive traits, most people don't seem to notice that they are being controlled, living normal lives under normal circumstances, truly oblivious. The way they handle things actually makes the kingdom unbelievably strong, and is the reason for why so many people can sleep at night without the worry of being robbed or killed or attacked by Demoni.

CAPITAL:

Vincere is the capital of Litas. It's a ridiculously large power house of a city, huge buildings covered in bronze jutting into the sky and gas pumping furiously throughout the air. You could get lost for days in the expansive city. The Legionnaires positively smother this place, seeming to be the main population. It is either them or the ungodly wealthy, frittering about in their own aristocracy. It is shatteringly hot in Vincere, so people try not to go outdoors. Only humans are typically allowed within Vincere's gates, though with the order of the Redeemers, they will begrudgingly let their longer-eared brethren inside.

CREATURES:

Living beings are scarce amongst these big cities, and in the places there aren't cities, the climate is usually too hot or too cold. The only notable critters that scurries about are the cockroaches- huge, menacing roaches bigger than any bug you've ever seen before. Litas is swarmed with them, a serious problem in controlling the uprising of the pesky creatures. Of course, they aren't harmful and never attack, but they're cankerous to the eyes and unsettling nonetheless. It seems that in places like Vincere, the only thing that resides are these roaches and the birds that are able to fly freely to and fro. However, it's not infrequent for such birds to fall out of the sky dead, getting cooked midflight above the shimmering city's extreme heat.
      Image
Litasian Roaches, about the size of a grown man's hand, are extremely endurable creatures. While they have menacing pincers and spikes, they are solely for posturing- making themselves to look scary in defensive adaption through evolution. Their first reaction when appraoched by a human is to scuttle away and hide in the darkness. Should they be cornered, trapped, or in anyway forced to confront their attacker, they hiss and rattle their wings in attempts to scare them off but never attack. It takes a whole lot to kill these guys, a simple boot-stomp-and-splat technique not enough to actually end their long lives. A Litasian Roach, unless completely smashed to pieces or stabbed into a pulp, will live up to 30 years.

      Image
The Yellow Tailed Swooner, a common bird found mainly in Litas, is a four legged bird with distinctive yellow and red coloring. They are generally pretty flighty, but friendly from a distance. They have an annual migratory pattern. They normally don't travel as far as the walls of Vincere, and once they've strayed so far, they usually die if they can't find a way out in time. Outside of huge cities and in the more tame areas of Litas, they eat crickets and berries, seeds and grasses.

THE SLUMS:

The slums are sort of a tumor growing off the side of Vincere, a tent town under extreme poverty where the Tainted and other unwanted members of society have been secretly locked in. The organization had kept this place hidden for years now, doing their best to deny the existence of the Tainted all together by huddling them up in one place and being sure to have extreme security both locking them in and out. Money, too, has been exchanged to shush loud mouths. The organization would have probably liked to have continued to keep this tucked neatly under their massive rug, but "dire times call for dire measures". Nica had to have been retrieved and the possible sacrifice of the troupe's loyalty was a risk worth taking.

Events that happened in the slums:
In the slums, the troupe immediately ran into an altercation with the Tainted. They were slain despite their commander's orders otherwise. They then thereafter located Nica and left quick enough that they couldn't be drawn into battle again.

Writing from the roleplay on the slums:
      • "The slums are on the outskirts of Vincere. Just east from 'ere. Ya won't miss it when ya see it. Mos'a the schmucks livin' 'ere are freaks- and I mean FREAKS. No way you'd see it 'n mistake it fer nothing else. I try notta visit, so I don't know where the girl is. Name's Nica 'n runs a popular potion shop. 'Sall I know." - quote from Andre the Merchant

      • "... They reached the top of a hill where you could look down at the tented, rundown city that must have been the slums, the sun had just begun to say its farewells. The sky was painted with brilliant colors, from hazy oranges to vibrant pinks to dull greens. The majority of the show was a result of the heavy pollution in the area, but its charm was present nonetheless. The clouds hugged the sad city below in an almost ironic way, as if mocking the poverty ridden joint with its contrasting appealing aesthetic. There wasn't much metal incorporated in the slums to force it to glitter the way big cities did, nothing but dull browns and tans meeting the eyes of the beholders. Only the rooftops-or lack there of (many buildings were missing patches of roofworks, some only having sagging tarp atop their structures) was visible from this position... The people... why, the people here were... were all tainted. This had been what she was afraid of when the merchant had called them freaks." - Ama's POV

      • "There was something very wrong here. It was not a stink on the air or a sound in her ears, and it was certainly nothing she could name with precision, but even before they entered the tent-city proper, something thrummed uncomfortably at the back of her mind, an uneasy… familiarity." - Snow's POV

      • "When they entered the city, she had not expected the freak show to be quite so…freaky. The guards they had troubles with were barely human. Terribly deformed, she could see why the upperclass citizens of Vincere wanted to keep this little place a dark secret. Slobber dribbled down from the massive dog-like jowls and their skin seemed to be covered in bright red boils. It was disgusting, and she kept her eyes averted quietly to the ground..." - Lilith's POV

      • "Some buildings beheld shady stores, whilst others offered refuge from the sweltering heat. And most buildings bore ragged papers displaying governing propaganda; friendless to the Redeemers... Unsteady shelters pressed tightly against each other, inhabited by large families without cooks, without servants, without comfort. For they are blessed with children they cannot feed. Fallon knew what they called people in the slums, just as he knew what they called Elven folk in Vincere; filthy wretches... The slums, up close, was even more heartbreaking. Squalid buildings with patchy rooftops, oft times repaired with canvas or some other cheap materials; pressed to metal shingles with crooked, rusty nails. Fat flies buzzed past Fallon's ears, causing him to clench his teeth... Huddled metal clumps of rusted pieces were cancerous with rust, strewn out across veins of dirt. The hot stink of garbage was immediate. Disease, he knew, seeped through black mouths from the sewage channels, harbouring rats and nothing more. " - Fallon's POV

      • "The dimming lighting didn't much help his perception of the dank place. People lived here, among these things straddling the line between Demoni and human? ... There was an oppressing air here... there was breathing; more haggard breaths than he would care to count, causing him to stop abruptly." - Lucas' POV
