Oh man, am I the only person in the world that's seen this show? It's a psychological thriller/cyberpunk anime (hey, don't click the back button if you're not into anime, it's actually not stereotypical in the least! If you're interested in the premise and setting and those genres, then just keep reading). Google it right now if you haven't, and stop reading if you haven't finished it and don't want to be spoiled! (This site is an excellent resource and has all of the main key terms and setting if you still want to play and don't want to go through the entire series, which is just fine with me. The RP isn't going to be strictly canon or anything, and it's been a while since I've seen it myself. (: )

Okay, good. Welcome back. *wavies* Now then... I'm not the type of purpose who just writes down a pairing and calls it a plot. This isn't about romance, but about exploration, discovery, awareness, action, thrills, all of that cool stuff. Basically, I've wanted to do an SEL RP for a while now, but I haven't come up with a coherent plot. It'll be loosely based on the show -- similar organizations and stuff will exist (the Wired definitely will, since it's central to everything) but Lain and her story probably will not. The whole God of the Wired thing will probably be central to it all, as well.

The idea I have is playing a group of scientists/researchers (either Tachibana Labs or an independent entity) and picking two to interact with the most. The "main" characters, I suppose, but that doesn't mean that we only have to play these two. *nods* Anyway, the vague idea I've been tossing around in my head is that something happens. Something very wrong. Either the first signs of existence of the God of the Wired, or some kind of huge security breech, just... something. This causes two of the scientists (was thinking the head scientist and their assistant, but it could be any scientist that has clearance to do something this dangerous) to do a Dive, which is my term for investigating the Wired.

It's not gonna be easy, or fun, nor will it be a simple, quick affair. Maybe they get trapped inside and the only way to get out is to finish their investigation, even if they die for it. Or maybe they're able to, or even have to, come up after a certain period of time (several hours) to rest their minds/sleep/eat/do human things, but their minds are plauged after a while. The search becomes increasingly frantic, and soon they actually have to fight physical manifestations of viruses and the like just to get to the root of the problem.

You know, shiny, happy stuff like that! Haha! Really, I don't have any details apart from that. Not the exact cause of everything, or the motives, etc. We can figure that out through PM, or maybe we can figure out just enough to get the plot going and make it up as we go along? I'm not very picky about details and jargon and stuff.
